  Hello, I'd like to use vestal versions to do the following: Determine the Content of the current record being saved Determine the Content of the last record saved In my model I have: class Note < ActiveRecord::Base versioned :if => :really_create_a_version? def really_create_a_version? XXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXX end end Where the XXXX are, how can I get the note.content of the item about to be saved (i'm assuming it hasn't been saved yet to the DB? Is that correct? Also, how can I get the note.content of the save before the current save in progress? Thanks

I would like to have the dropdown option the user displayed in the last page already selected. • remove Annotation removes random amount of annotations at a time

  I've got this code to erase an annotations (pins) in my mkmapview without erasing my blue dot (userLocation). The problem is that it erasing the pins I've added in seemingly random numbers. when it's called through an IBAction it removes the first 5 then click again it removes the next 3, then the next 2, then the last one.   Dear all, I've recently worked on a project on search query,and I am only last step away from completion. Now I have a nice URL,and can open it in "cmd /c start" statement in Java,and it causes an IE window open. However,my advisor is not satisfied with that,he wants to see this webpage(actually,two webpages) opened in a GUI interface. So could you please give a detailed instruction on how to achieve this in Java,please?If you are trying to offer me a helpful package,would you please kindly also show how to use that as well,since I am new to this GUI development,and I only know the basics of Swing.   I tried to do convolution in R directly and using FFTs then taking inverse. But it seems from simple observation it is not correct. At 0, the convolution should simply be the last value of x2$xt (24.610) multiplied by first value of h2$xt (0.003891051) which should give convolution at index 0 = 24.610*0.003891051 = 0.09575877 which is way off from 0.4750436. Am I doing something wrong? Why is the values so different from expected?

  I'm trying to use a regular expression to capture the contents of all option values inside an HTML select element For example, in: <select name="test"> <option value="blah">one</option> <option value="mehh">two</option> <option value="rawr">three</option> </select> I'd like to capture one two and three into an array. My current code is var pages = responseDetails.responseText.match(/<select name="page" .+?>(?:\s*<option .+?>([^<]+)<\/option>)+\s*<\/select>/); for (var c = 0; c<pages.length; c++) { alert(pages[c]); } But it only captures the last value, in this case, "three". How can I modify this to capture all of them? Thanks!

• Python ValueError: not allowed to raise maximum limit

  I'm using python 2.7.2 on mac os 10.7.3 I'm doing a recursive algorithm in python with more than 50 000 recursion levels. I tried to increase the maximum recursion level to 1 000 000 but my python shell still exit after 18 000 recursion levels. I tried to increase the resources available : import resource resource.setrlimit(resource.RLIMIT_STACK, (2**29,-1)) sys.setrecursionlimit(10**6) and I get this error : Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#58>", line 1, in <module> resource.setrlimit(resource.RLIMIT_STACK,(2**29,-1)) ValueError: not allowed to raise maximum limit I don't know why I cannot raise the maximum limit ? thanks for your suggestions .

• Android Virtual Device freezing during its loading

  Hello, I've downloaded Eclipse Classic 3.5 Galileo, the last version of Android SDK, downloaded and installed Eclipse Android 1.6 platform. I've created first (and the only) AVD with Android 1.6 and the default skin. The log may show more: I've filtered only neccessary messages (warnings, errors). -http://www.clipboard.cz/63c As you can see, my new AVD has started in 16:17 and it was still loading in 17:35...   In my app (GWT on GAE) we are storing on our database the serving URL that is stored on blobstore. When user selects one of these files and clicks "delete", we need to delete the file from blobstore. • Will HTML 5 kill Flash? Is it even worth my time to learn Flash?

  Apple is always in the news these days with "i" this and "i" that. One of the biggest beefs people have with Apple is the lack of Flash support. Last year I held the same belief, Apple's choice to exclude Flash support just seemed senseless. HTML 5 seems to have changed this though. One of the most popular users of Flash is YouTube, and they are already getting on the HTML 5 bandwagon (http://www.youtube.com/html5). Still, I am torn between the two technologies. What is your take? Is it better for a budding developer to learn Flash or should their efforts be devoted to HTML5?

• acts_as_solr returns all rows in the database when using the model as search query

  In our application we're using acts_as_solr for search. Everything seems to be running smoothly except for the fact that using the model name as the search query returns every single row in the table. For example, let's say we have a users table. We specify acts_as_solr in our model to search the fields first name, last name and handle acts_as_solr :fields = [:handle, :lname, :fname]. When you use "user" as the search term it returns every single user in the system, or every row in the database as a result. Has anyone else run into this?

• iframe/lightbox refresh issues

  Hi Please check out: http://gherkin.co.nz/refresh/ and click on the purple box that says 'Membership chest' You should then see some form fields in an iframe in the lightbox. If you click on the "GO" button, the page will change (currently Not found, which is fine for now). If you click the dark area to close the box, then click the purple card again - it will take you back to the not found page. When called, I want the content to always go back to the page specified in the iframe src, not the last page. Can it go back to the first specified page on this second click? Does that make sense? basically I want the iframe/lightbox to refresh its content each time it is called.

• Bad event on java panel

  Hi I have a java panel with 4 buttons. When I click on of these buttons, a new frame appears and the first is hidden with setVisibile(false). On that new window, I have another button, but when i click it, I got the event corresponding to the fourth button of the first window. Clicking the button again does the trick, but of course this is not acceptable. Am I missing something? I just show the frames with nameOfTheFrame.setVisible(true); and I have MouseListeners on every button. • Should I practice "mockist" or "classical" TDD?

  I've read (and re-read) Martin Fowler's Mocks Aren't Stubs. In it, he defines two different approaches to TDD: "Classical" and "Mockist". He attempts to answer the question "So should I be a classicist or a mockist?", but he admits that he has never tried mockist TDD on "anything more than toys." So I thought I'd ask the question here. Good answers may repeat Fowler's arguments (but hopefully more clearly) or add arguments that he didn't think of or that others have come up with since Fowler last updated the essay back in January 2007.

• iPhone expired dev certs - public/private key pair issue

  My dev 'license' expired last week, and with it my dev certs. I re-upped my license, but my keys are still expired. I tried to create a new signing certificate via keychain, etc. but it seems my private key is not enough, it needs my public key to do so. I understand that the public key is stored in the provisioning certificate. The question is, can I retrieve the public key from there? (And if so, how?)

• Learning JavaScript... Should I skip straight to the good stuff (the frameworks)?

  I learnt HTML/CSS a good few years back, then PHP a little later. I've recently become interesting in web development again, just started playing with frameworks like Django and RoR. I'm curious as to how much time/effort I should spend learning straight JS before looking at frameworks. I've been reading through a let of articles called Mastering AJAX by Brett McLaughlin which seems quite good, but I'm seeing a lot of stuff (such as cross browser compatibility - even for things like XMLHttpRequest) coming up which look like they would be non-issues if using a framework. So, should I keep reading through these articles and try to build stuff using basic JS, or should I just start looking into jQuery and the like? Also, I've been watching a few videos regarding GWT from Google I/O. I've been learning Java over the last year, built a few medium sized apps in it. I'm wondering if GWT is something that's worth going straight to, along with gQuery?

• Alternative databases to use when putting IIS Logs into a database using LogParser

  We have run some scripts that use LogParser to dump our IIS logs into a SQL Server database. We can then query this to get simple stats on hits, usage etc. It's also good when linking it to error log databases and performance counter database to compare usage with errors, etc. Having implemented this for just one system and for the last 2-3 weeks we already have a 5GB database with around 10 million records. This is making any queries to this database quite slow and will no doubt cause storage issues if we continue to log as we are. Can anyone suggest any alternative databases that we could use for this data that would be more efficient for such logs? I'd be particularly interested in any experience of Google's BigTable or Amazon's SimbleDB. Are either of these suitable for reporting queries? COUNTs, GROUP BYs, PIVOTs?

  Last night one of our SQL servers developed some major problems and after a colleague stopped, started, and all the usual things it started checking and rebuilding databases and is now running an extended stored procedure called "xp_qv". The internet seems to be very short of information on what this procedure does or anythign like that so I was hoping somebody here might be able to help. I should add that I assume it is meant to be running so the question isn't "Can I stop it" or anything like that, its just curiosity in what it is doing in the hope that it will help determine how long before things are usable again...

• Infopath form publishing and root content type ?

  Hi, I have several infopath 2010 form template that I want to publish to a form library in SharePoint 2010 Server with enterprise CaL. All of this forms have a common part (a template part actually). Is it possible to define a common "parent" content type of this forms ? In fact, I want : Form content type (SP OOB) My root form content type, with standard columns "requester", "process name", etc. Form 1 Form 2 etc. other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 Instead of the standard behavior : Form content type (SP OOB) Form 1 Form 2 other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 etc. Behind this question I want to be able to create a dashboard of all form request using a content query web, by simply specifying the content type ... One last word: the idea is to allow a customer (assuming its knowledge is limited to IP 2010 basic form design). So I can't accept answers like "extract files, use a text editor and hack the xsf file"... thx in advance

• Is it possible to use array_shift() in PHP and get the key?

  I have a list of files in an array where the filename is the key and the value is the last modified date in seconds. They are sorted from oldest to newest. The files are glob()'d in, and then sorted this way using asort($fileNameToLastModified, SORT_NUMERIC); I use array_shift() to get the oldest file. Unfortunately, it seems to be giving me the value, and there doesn't seem to be a way to get the key. Would the only way to do that be something like this? $keys = array_keys($fileNameToLastModified); $oldest = array_shift($keys); array_shift($fileNameToLastModified); // to manually chop the first array member off too. Or is there a built in? Thanks
