• problem connecting to datasource defined in freetds.conf

  I can connect successfully to my database using tsql when I bypass the freetds.conf file, like so: % TDSVER=8.0 tsql -H 10.100.102.202 -p 1086 -U sa After I enter my password, I am presented with a 1> prompt, and it is ready for my commands. However, if I try to connect using the definition in my freetds.conf file, like this: % tsql -S Millie -U sa after entering my password, it seems to be trying to generate a prompt, but it just keeps counting. I will see 1, followed by 2, etc, without ever displaying a > character. Here is what I have for my freetds.conf: [global] # TDS protocol version tds version = 8.0 text size = 64512 [Millie] host = 10.100.102.202 port = 1086 What could be causing this anomaly? • IMAP email migration from Apptix to Office 365

  I am having issues setting up a migration from Apptix to Office 365 of 41 users in my company. I've found a couple guides on the Microsoft website about how to do it (Thank you Google) but I keep coming up with problems. I am trying to set up a mailbox migration through IMAP to get all of my users' emails over to Office 365 before we make the transition over from Apptix. One of the forums suggested using IMAP, since a CSV file can be uploaded to Office 365 and it will check for incoming mail for each user every 24 hours. My problem is that when I do this, I just get errors. • ifilter not working with MOSS 2007, cant crawl .pdf

  Installed ifilter and followed the guides: http://msmvps.com/blogs/sundar_narasiman/archive/2008/02/06/configuring-moss-2007-to-search-pdf-documents-install-and-configure-pdf-ifilters.aspx and the accompanying link to the MS hotfix.. I have initiated multiple crawls that don't show any .pdf documents, let alone the contents of the .pdfs (I did constantly upload test documents with real content). In the 'file types' menu of the shared servies, it didn't show the pdf icon as I think it was meant to, it also lists 'pdf' as filetype 'AcroExch.Document', is this correct? Any ideas anyone?

I have a VS package project that needs to connect to a WCF service that provides some functionality. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. My guess is that it's taking the configuration file for Visual Studio (since it is running VS experimental mode). So yeah...why isn't it recognizing the app.config file and how could I make the application to recognize it? Any help would be very welcomed as I have already tried to fix this for some time. • Unable to browse Server 2008R2 from XP clinets

  We have just deployed a Windows 2008R2 server in our Windows 2003 domain. XP clinets are unable to browse in "entire network" and find the new server. It can be accessed by entering \\servername and it can be pinged by name and IP address. Users access shares without issue. Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled. Computer browser is running on the Windows 2008R2 system. Turn on Network Discovery is enabled. I've inherited this PC and it's always had MS Office basic on it; the time has come to install our Access application on it, so I'm trying to install Office Professional 2003, the problem I have is the installer says the license key is invalid; I can only assume this is down to the fact that the PC used to have Office Basic installed. I've deleted the registration keys for the OFFICE11 section of the registry, but am still getting the problem... Any suggestions as to how to kill any trace of the old install would be appreciated - its' no longer showing up in the add/remove programs window.

• Exchange Public Folders in Snow Leopard Mail.app

  I am using Mail.app (running snow leopard) to connect to my email account on my school's Exchange 2007 server. I get my Inbox just fine, and iCal connects to my Outlook Calendar just fine, but I cannot seem to get any of the Exchange Public Folders that I can automatically see when I am using Outlook on a Windows box. The time has come to install our Access application on it, so I'm trying to install Office Professional 2003. The problem I have is the installer says the license key is invalid. I can only assume this is down to the fact that the PC used to have Office Basic installed. I've deleted the registration keys for the OFFICE11 section of the registry, but am still getting the problem. Any suggestions as to how to kill any trace of the old install would be appreciated - it's no longer showing up in the add/remove programs window.

• Weird files in User folder

  In my user folder (C:/Users/myAccount/) theres a set of interesting hidden files that I've never seen before (right now it's a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate). These are: NTUSER.DAT, ntuser.dat.LOG1, ntuser.dat.LOG2, and NTUSER.DAT(whole chain of numbers and letters).TM.bif, NTUSER.DAT(whole chain of numbers and letters).TMContaineretcetc.regtrans-ms, and another similar one. When I try to delete them, it says the system is using them. I've never seen these files before. Are they ok to delete? Or should I leave them in my home folder? I always keep "Show hidden files" as well as "Show System files" checked, since I prefer being able to see all the files on my computer. If I shouldn't delete them, is there at least a way to tidy them up a bit? Thanks.

• Vertical alignment problem in textbox in Microsoft Word 2007

  I pardon as its not a programming question at all. But if anybody can answer this it will be usefull for me. In MS word 2007 I drew a textbox and entered some text. Then I right clicked on textbox and went to format shape Then went to TextBox tab and reduced the top internal margin to 0.1 cm. But still it seems there is too much space at the top inside the textbox. I am not able to position the text exactly at the vertical middle of textbox. If I choose the auto-rezide option in format Shape, the textBox size is increases automatically but the text remains exactly at vertical and horizontal middle of textbox. but anyhow I need the textbox to be small. This is very minor but annoying problem. Can anybody help?

• Windows XP-64 loses audio sounds, drive letters... why?

  Until sometime in early December, I had a wonderfully functioning XP-64 system. It was configured to auto download/install MS patches. I occassionally update the software on it, e.g. Open Office, Adobe Reader, Skype, but I don't fetch hundreds of tools or anything much beyond what I just mentioned. In December, suddenly my audio stopped, and drive letters assigned to various mount points on other machines quit being available. Apparantly, the services that support these (and some others) are now not starting up when I boot/login. There isn't anything obvious in the event log. If I manually restart the associated services, these facilities come back on line and work for awhile (a day) but pretty soon the problem reappears. I don't reboot very often, nor do I log out out much. Hints?

The CascadingDropDownList works as expected until "Anonymous access" and "Integrated Windows Authentication" flags are both checked (and this is the situation in the production environment) in the Directory Security settings on the website under IIS. The error I get is: 500 Internal Server Error No web service found at: If I uncheck the anonymous access or the windows authentication everything is ok. Any suggestions?

• Folder Redirection - Explorer requires manual refresh

  Hello, I am having an issue where - when a users my documents folder is redirected to a DFS share, windows explorer requires a manual refresh after creating a new folder, file, etc. (Interestingly, not when making a new briefcase) I have tried a number of MS knowledge base articles, a hot-fix and a registry change, all with no success. (( http:// support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 ; http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/873392 )) The problem only occurs when going through the my documents icon. If I map a home drive for the user to the exact same location (IE - H:\DFS\user\documents) , open that drive and make new folders, then there is no problem. Mapping my documents to H:\ also resolves the issue, however, as we need folder sync and people logging on off site with cached profiles this is not a workable solution (as H: will not map and there will be no access to their docs.) Has anyone managed to figure a fix for this? Thanks, Pete.
