Somewhere else in my code, a security check is applied which mean I need to disable said event, but I do not have access to the normal -= syntax to remove it.   • Why do my numbered headings break when I apply a watermark?

    I have an MS Word 2010 document. I am editing it in compatibility mode. I have heading 1s as a numbered list. When I apply a watermark to the document the headings break. The number and background shading remain correct, but the text "collapses" - so the word "Introduction" appears one letter wide with all letters drawn one on top of the other (you can open Font properties for the headings and see the entire word in the preview; font spacing shows as normal). Why does this happen? Windows 7, SP1. Opening doc over network from Sharepoint.

  • How do I objectively measure an application's load on a server

    All, I'm not even sure where to begin looking for resources to answer my question, and I realize that speculation about this kind of thing is highly subjective. I need help determining what class of server I should purchase to host a MS Silverlight application with a MSSQL server back-end on a Windows Server 2008 platform. It's an interactive program, so I can't simply generate a list of URLs to test against, and run it with 1000 simultaneous users. What tools are out there to help me determine what kind of load the application will put on a server at varying levels of concurrent users? Would you all suggest separating the SQL server form the web server, to better differentiate the generated load on the different parts of the stack?

    In my code I'm attempting to use a transaction using TransactionScope with Entity Framework. While in this transaction we are opening a regular SQL connection to a seperate server and database. When the conn.Open() is called we get an Error: "Network access for Distributed Transaction Manager (MSDTC) has been disabled. Please enable DTC for network access in the security configuration for MSDTC using the Componet Services Administrative tool." However, MSDTC is enabled and running on the Server.

  • Outlook 2003 (with Exchange 2007) error: You cannot respond to a meeting without an Organizer

    The company recently upgraded to Exchange 2007. Since the upgrade users who are still on Outlook 2003 (SP3) get the following error for some meeting requests: You cannot respond to a meeting without an organizer. You must add an Organizer field to the item. The item has an organizer field filled in. Exchange is 2007 with SP1 MS Office (incl Outlook) is 2003 with SP3 Some users are using iPhones to accept / reject meetings. The iPhones never get an error like this. There are no delegates for the user attempting to accept or reject the meeting. Sometimes the meeting was previously accepted, sometimes not. We have not detected a pattern in the meeting requests that trigger the issue. I've found a few people asking the same question on other websites but no answers. Experts Exchange claims to have an answer but from looking at the discussion at the bottom of the page I'm pretty sure they don't.

    I'm trying to repair an xp pro install using the repair cd The issue is a corrupted registry. Following the MS help center instructions, I made a batch file to replace the registry. It's not working. Does the CD need to match the edition and service pack of Windows on the disc? How can I tell (retroactively, with no Windows access) what edition/sp is installed? Any other ideas/thoughts? I am considering an pgrade install to Windows 7... TH\hanks!

  • OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard no longer mounting an external USB drive

    I have a 1TB generic external hard drive containing a single HFS partition. I originally formatted this using Disk Utility and it worked fine. Now, for some reason, it's not auto-mounting when I start up. Using mount at the command line gives the following error: $ sudo mount /dev/disk1s2 /Volumes/Test /dev/disk1s2 on /Volumes/Test: Incorrect super block. ... but if I use the mount_hfs command it works fine, mounts, and is readable. $ mount_hfs /dev/disk1s2 /Volumes/Test/ fsck gives me an error about a bad super block: $ fsck /dev/disk1 ** /dev/rdisk1 (NO WRITE) BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG ... but fsck_hfs -fn /dev/disk1s2 doesn't find any problems and reports that the volume appears to be OK. In Disk Utility, the drive appears to have a single MS-DOS partition with a curious notice about how it appears to be partitioned for Boot Camp: I have the Boot Camp HFS driver installed in WIndows 7, and that OS sees the drive/partition normally. What's wrong with my disk?

    I have created a GraphViz dot-file to visualize a data flow. I have to write a documentation using Microsoft Word and I'd like to include the graph in the document. For some wired reason, MS Word is not able to import SVG files. Then, I generated a .eps file using dot -Teps plan.dot -o plan.eps But once imported into Word, the picture looks horrible. I also tried to convert the svg to wmf using Inkscape. It also looked horrible. Is there a clean way to generate a file using GraphViz that Word can read?

    I need to change about 100 DNS records and IIS configurations on a Windows 2003 web server. The gui doesn't accommodate it and the MS command line tools seem incomplete (for example: dnscmd cannot edit a record, only create). Is there a third party tool out there I can use? Basically I just need to change one IP address to another. <vent It's frustrating that what would take a simple search and replace in Linux is this massive exercise under Windows. I mean IIS 6 wasn't Microsoft's first web platform! What were they thinking??? </vent

    I am trying to take a PHP variable and pass it along to Flash via Flash vars. My end goal is to pass a string formatted as XML to Flash, but because I'm struggling I've stripped everything down to the basics. I'm just trying to pass a simple PHP string variable to Flash via FlashVars with SWFObject but something isn't right. The page won't load when I try to pass the variable inside of php tags, but it will load if I just pass a hard coded string.     I have an Exchange 2003 SP2 single backend server with an SSL cert. I was having trouble getting OMA to work so I found a MS article about making a reg hack and creating a new Exchange-OMA virtual directory. I am able to connect and access content from my mailbox by using secure mail.domainname.com/oma and using my credentials. ActiveSync was not working on a Windows mobile phone or iPhone. I found another article about using Forms Based Authenication and SSL on a single Exchange server environment and the fix was to elliminate FBA and SSL for the Exchange virtual directory. That allows ActiveSync to now work. I have very few mobile users, but they are management, so I need to make ActiveSync work but I would like to get back to using SSL. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379 Any ideas about this setup?   • User for MSSQL 2008 Service Accounts

    I want to create a Domain User that runs the SQL Service Accounts. The reason for this is that I have setup mirroring and MS recommends having the same user (a domain user account) running the services across all the the computers in the configuration to ensure mirroring will work properly. Right now in the test environment I just had them run under my user for simplicity. But now that I know what I am doing I would like to test the configuration more accurately. I am also aware that it makes things much simpler if this user is an administrator. My question is. Should I just create a simple user SQLSERVICEUSER and make it an administrator? Seems a little insecure to me. Anyone have a more elegant solution?

  • Need help with Microsoft Access 07 & Reports

    I'm finding it difficult to get MS reporting working to what I'd like to show. What I'm trying to do is: a) In my database store a URL file (HTTP external file), that is a .jpeg. I'd like to use that URL to call the image on the report sheet. I have tried to use 'Control source' on the data panel, but with no success. Any way I can get Dynamic Images to show up on each database. Also, I have a couple of Relational Databases. One Defines Values: For Example: DefinePets('petID','Name of Pet') The other one links the Main DB with the 'DefinePets' database. Eg: connect('petID','mainID','extraFeild') I'd like my report to Go into the "connect" Table, where the the currently viewed Record Value = mainID, then find petID and return Name of Pet. There is a many to many link between definePets and the main Table. (Therefore connect is joining them up) Or is that too much to ask from a simple package like Access?

    I have read the other questions and they mostly talk about the security of doing so. That's not entirely my concern, mostly because the website is question is a browser-based game. However, the larger issue is the user - not every user is literate enough to understand OpenID. Sure RPX makes this pretty easy, which is what I'll use, but what if the user does not have an account at Google or Facebook or whatever, or does not trust the system to log in with an existing account? They'd have to get an account at another provide - I'm sure most will know how to do it, let alone be bothered to do it. There is also the problem of how to manage it in the application. A user might want to use multiple identities with a single account, so it's not as simple as username + password to deal with. How do I store the OpenID identities of a user in the database? Using OpenID gives me a benefit too: RPX can provide extensive profile information, so I can just prefill the profile form and ask the user to edit as required.     After running chkdsk C: /F /R and finding out that my hard disk has 24 KB in bad sectors (log is posted below), I decided to run Windows 7's System File Checker utility (sfc /scannow). SFC showed the ff. message after I ran it: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."   • Looking for Light Time Management Software Suggestions (for Mac)

    I'm looking for a simple project management app that performs task scheduling, along the line of Merlin or MS Project, but no where near as robustly. I don't need to deal with other (human) resources, but I work on anything from 3 to 6 different projects at a time. What I'd like is to be able to input deadlines and tasks, and have a schedule suggested to complete them. I do technical work, but I don't think I need anything specifically for software development, especially considering I do plenty of other kinds of things, like graphic design and social media PR. I'd really like this to be dead simple, as simple as possible. Suggestions? OmniPlan, something web-based? Definitely cannot afford anything too extravagant, really looking for something under $200. Thanks for your input!

    Hello, I have 2 client compters running XP and MS office with Outlook 2007. I have a 2003 server running exchange. Clients e-mail account was removed on clients computer. But the e-mails are still on server as I see the mailbox with approx 14k of mail How do I restore the e-mail account on clients and retrieve the e-mail from server. I did not set up the outlook or exchange, so I do not know the e-mail settings. Any help? Chris
