  No it's not a path issue...or else the site won't have a design. The website looks fine if I open it with IE8 in my computer. But after I upload it to IIS 6.0 two things change on positioning. I see a rendering problem. But if I open it with IE 8.0 on my machine it looks good, but opening it when uploaded to IIS , it changes a bit. Same exact files. Same browser, same computer. The only different thing is that it has been uploaded to IIS. IT has no programming in aspx whatsoever just .html .css and .js

  I'm attempting to provide a confirmation link in my user welcome email and I'm getting the following Rails error: Need controller and action! It makes a fuss about this line: <p>Please take a moment to activate your account by going to: <%= link_to confirm_user_url(:id => @user.confirmation_code) %>.</p> In my development.rb environment, I have the following line: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "localhost", :port => 3000 } There's no problem with the @user variable. I've tested the email with things like @user.username and @user.confirmation_code. I'm only getting trouble with url_for and named routes like confirm_user_url. When I check my routes with rake routes, confirm_user shows up, so it's not an issue with the named route not existing. I can't seem to figure it out. What gives?

• Using TortoiseHg to push to a authenticated git repository

  I'm trying to push a changeset from a local Mercurial repository created with TortoiseHg to a remote Git repository. I have hg-git installed and configured and it will pull just fine. But when I run the push it gives me this Command hg push git+ssh://git@dummyrepo:username/repo.git Result pushing to git+ssh://git@dummyrepo:username/repo.git importing Hg objects into Git creating and sending data abort: the remote end hung up unexpectedly There are several things I've done to get to this point. But I'm hoping to resolve this last thing because I find TortoiseHg to be much easier to work with than any of the Git tools out there (for windows.) Installed TortoiseHg Pulled down the hg-git from http://bitbucket.org/durin42/hg-git/ Configured mercurial.ini to point to the hg-git library Pulled down dulwich source from git://git.samba.org/jelmer/dulwich.git Compiled dulwich and put it into library.zip for TortoiseHg Configured TortoiseHg to use TortoisePlink.exe for ssh Added my private key to Pageant Any ideas what I could be missing?

• Smooth mousover images inside scaled Flex App?

  I have a flex app I am scaling using systemManager.stage.scaleMode=StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; for the most part it works well except for my bitmap data (mostly png's from the designers). I can set the mx:image tags to smoothBitmapContent=true and that works great for everything except my mouseover objects. When I do a mouseover, the source is being changed from one embedded image to another embedded image. I have tried several (many) online "smoothimage" classes, and tried to write my own, I have tried to reset smoothBitmapContent every chance I get but still no dice. It seems to mee that because I am scaling at the app level, that the flopped out bitmap is not getting smoothed when it renders. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep things smooth (perhaps there is a flag to tell Flex to smooth stuff when it scales it?). Thanks Josh

  I am writing a shell script (which I suck at) and I need some help. Its a script that is moving things from git to CVS (not important). The thing is, i a file path: controllers/listbuilder/setup/SubmissionRolesListbuilderHandler.inc.php and I need to be able to do: cvs add controllers; cvs add controllers/listbuilder; cvs add controllers/listbuilder/setup; cvs add controllers/listbuilder/setup/SubmissionRolesListbuilderHandler.inc.php Can someone help me out? The best I've come up with so far is to recursively add ALL files in my working tree, but that seems overly inefficient.

  For instance, let's say I have a User model. Users have things like logins, passwords, e-mail addresses, avatars, etc. But there are two types of Users that will be using this site, let's say Parents and Businesses. I need to store some different information for the Parents (e.g. childrens' names, domestic partner, salaries, etc.) than for the Businesses (e.g. industry, number of employees, etc.), but also some of it is the same, like logins and passwords. How do I correctly structure this in a SQL-based database? Thanks!

• Problem using System.Xml in unit test in MonoDevelop (MonoTouch)

  I'm new to the MonoDevelop and MonoTouch environment so hopefully I'm just missing something easy here. When I have a unit test that requires the System.Xml or System.Xml.Linq namespaces, I get the following error when I run the test: System.IO.FileNotFoundException : Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml.Linq, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Things I've verified: I have the proper usings in the test. The project builds with no problems. Using these namespaces work fine when I run the app in the emulator. I've written a very simple unit test to prove that unit testing works at all (and it does). I'm a test driven kinda guy so I can't wait to get this working so I can progress with my app. Thanks in advance.

  When creating an WPF application with the MVVM pattern, it seems I have to gather the necessary tools myself to even begin the most rudimentary event handling, e.g. AttachedBehaviors I get from here DelegateCommands I get from here Now I'm looking for some way to handle the ItemSelected event in a ComboBox and am getting suggestions of tricks and workarounds to do this (using a XAML trigger or have other elements bound to the selected item, etc.). Ok, I can go down this road, but it seems to be reinventing the wheel. It would be nice to just have an ItemSelected command that I can handle in my ViewModel. Am I missing some set of standard tools or is everyone doing MVVM with WPF basically building and putting together their own collection of tools just so they can do the simplest plumbing tasks with events and commands, things that take only a couple lines in code-behind with a Click="eventHandler"?

• How to handle empty return from getJSON

  Alright so I have a php script which gets results from a DB, and to get those results I'm using a jQuery script to pull the results via getJSON. It works perfectly but now I want to do something if the php script returns no results (empty). I tried: $.getJSON('path/to/script'), {parameter:parameter}, function(data){ if (data) { alert('Result'); } else { alert('Empty); } }); But it's no good. I've tried different things like if (data.length) but still nothing. I've noticed that if there is no returned data the callback will never fire at all. So if that's the case, how do I handle a empty return?

• [Gdata] GetAuthSubToken returns None

  Hey guys, I am a little lost on how to get the auth token. Here is the code I am using on the return from authorizing my app: client = gdata.service.GDataService() gdata.alt.appengine.run_on_appengine(client) sessionToken = gdata.auth.extract_auth_sub_token_from_url(self.request.uri) client.UpgradeToSessionToken(sessionToken) logging.info(client.GetAuthSubToken()) what gets logged is "None" so that does seem right :-( if I use this: temp = client.upgrade_to_session_token(sessionToken) logging.info(dump(temp)) I get this: {'scopes': ['http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/'], 'auth_header': 'AuthSub token=CNKe7drpFRDzp8uVARjD-s-wAg'} so I can see that I am getting a AuthSub Token and I guess I could just parse that and grab the token but that doesn't seem like the way things should work. • Integrating Jython Cpython

  I am about to begin a project where I will likely use PyQt or Pyside. I will need to interface with a buggy 3rd party piece of server software that provides C++ and Java APIs. The Java APIs are a lot easier to use because you get Exceptions where with the C++ libraries you get segfaults. Also, the Python bindings to the Java APIs are automatic with Jython whereas the Python bindings for the C++ APIs don't exist. So, how would a CPython PyQt client application be able to communicate with these Java APIs? How would you go about it? Would you have another separate Java process on the client that serializes / pickles objects and communicates with the PyQt process over a socket? I don't want to re-invent the wheel... is there some sort of standard interface for these types of things? Some technology I should look into? RPC, Corba, etc? Thanks, ~Eric

• search & replace on 3000 row, 25 column spreadsheet

  I'm attempting to clean up data in this (old) spreadsheet and need to remove things like single and double quotes, HTML tags and so on. Trouble is, it's a 3000 row file with 25 columns and every spreadsheet app I've tried (NeoOffice, MS Excel, Apple Numbers) chokes on it. Hard. Any ideas on how else I can clean this thing up for import to MySQL? Clearly I could go through each record manually, row by row, but would like to avoid that if at all possible. Likewise, I could write a PHP script to handle it on import, but don't want to put the server into a death spiral either.

• Create a thumbnail of a dwg in in a linux envrionment

  Creating a ruby on rails site that uses RMagick to create thumbnails for many types of images. RMagick cannot read dwg files however. I've tried a few things, looked into the Java library JDWGLib, which would probably allow me to write a converter, but it would be a total from the ground up solution, where I just need a thumbnail. Also considered using a viewer program to open the file in a remote X session and do a screen capture, however I'm not sure how I could ever guarantee that the viewer had completed opening when I took the screenshot. I'm not concerned with being able to manipulate the file other than to create the thumbnail. It is going to be used for commercial purposes, so any libraries used need to be compatible.

  GWT's RPC mechanism does the following things on every HTTP Request - Sets two custom request headers - X-GWT-Permutation and X-GWT-Module-Base Sets the content-type as text/x-gwt-rpc; charset=utf-8 The HTTP request is always a POST, and on server side GET methods throw an exception (method not supported). Also, if these headers are not set or have the wrong value, the server fails processing with an exception "possibly CSRF?" or something to that effect. Question is : Is this sufficient to prevent CSRF? Is there a way to set custom headers and change content type in a pure cross-site request forgery method?

• In Google App Engine, what is the simplest way to keep a record of items that you have put into memc

  I am starting to use memcache more frequently to avoid having to recalculate things between page requests. When the memcache periodically clears, as it is designed to do, I have to start all over rebuilding various items that I have placed in memcache. What I would like to do is create a very simple model that enables me to periodically save the items that I put into memcache based on the memcache keys that I'm using along with a datetime that is related to the data being memcached. What is the best way to do this? • Revision Materals, other than book, for MCTS 70-536 Exam

  Does anyone have any recommendations on revision materials for the MCTS 70-536 exam other than the monstrosity that is the official book? I am finding it very difficult to absorb the amount of information in the book in such a passive way (i.e just reading) it's not going in. My current approach has been to use the practise tests and make notes on the questions I was unsure about but given the wide varity of questions that could come up I am not sure if this is the correct way to do things. So is there someone with more condensed, bite-size, information to take in. Maybe videos or podcasts? Cheers!

• Cache for everybody except staff members.

  I have a django site where I want to stick an "admin bar" along the top of every non-admin page for staff members. It would contain useful things like page editing tools, etc. The problem comes from me using the @cache_page decorator on lots of pages. If a normal user hits a page, the cached version comes up without the admin bar (even for admin users) and if an admin hits the page first, normal users see the admin bar. I could tediously step through the templates, adding regional cache blocks but there are a lot of templates, and life is altogether too short. Ideally, there would be a way of telling the caching to ignore cache get/set requests from admin users... But I don't know how to best implement that. How would you tackle this problem?

  I'm working on Java Swing application with Google Guice as an IOC container. Things are working pretty well. There are some UI problems. When a standard L&F is replaced with Pushing pixels Substance L&F application is not running due to Guice's Swing components creation outside of UI thread. Is there a way to tell Guice to create Swing components in the UI thread? Maybe I should create custom providers which will return Swing components after SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(Runnable) creates them. I don't like the idea of running the whole application in UI thread, but maybe it's just a perfect solution.

I found the Mantra project, but it's statically typed and is 'too' big for me at this moment, then I found 'pie' as interpreter, which is dynamically typed, which what I want, but it uses a syntax-directed interpreter. I'm looking for a pretty small language which is dynamically typed and uses AST's if possible. It doesn't need to be advanced, if it would have classes I would already be very happy.   I'm trying to create a way of deploying a set of tools (which are add-ins to 3rd party software) to my users. I would like to do the following: User Enters Serial Dlls in their directory structure is extracted to program files a file is copied to a location in ProgramData (this registers my add-ins to the 3rd party application) Online activation for software is performed Can anyone point me into the right direction for this? I had a look at deployment projects in Visual Studio but I'm not sure if they are what I'm after. Main problem is they are ugly, I would like to have a nice WPF installer, and have a more custom experience. But I guess that can be traded off if its going to make things easier. I was thinking, I could just make my own C# project that extracts the files, but I have no idea how to package them up and extract them all as part of one download (like the MSI files that the deployment projects create). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Things such as set_exception_handler(NULL) isn't working. • Common Live Upgrade problems

  As I have worked with customers deploying Live Upgrade in their environments, several problems seem to surface over and over. With this blog article, I will try to collect these troubles, as well as suggest some workarounds. If this sounds like the beginnings of a Wiki, you would be right. At present, there is not enough material for one, so we will use this blog for the time being. Live Upgrade copies over ZFS root clone This was introduced in Solaris 10 10/09 (u8) and the root of the problem is a duplicate entry in the source boot environments ICF configuration file. Prior to u8, a ZFS root file system was not included in /etc/vfstab, since the mount is implicit at boot time. Starting with u8, the root file system is included in /etc/vfstab, and when the boot environment is scanned to create the ICF file, a duplicate entry is recorded. Here's what the error looks like. # lucreate -n s10u9-baseline Checking GRUB menu... System has findroot enabled GRUB Analyzing system configuration. Comparing source boot environment file systems with the file system(s) you specified for the new boot environment. Determining which file systems should be in the new boot environment. Populating contents of mount point . This should not happen ------ Copying. Ctrl-C and cleanup If you weren't paying close attention, you might not even know this is an error. The symptoms are lucreate times that are way too long due to the extraneous copy, or the one that alerted me to the problem, the root file system is filling up - again thanks to a redundant copy. This problem has already been identified and corrected, and a patch (121431-58 or later for x86, 121430-57 for SPARC) is available. Unfortunately, this patch has not yet made it into the Solaris 10 Recommended Patch Cluster. Applying the prerequisite patches from the latest cluster is a recommendation from the Live Upgrade Survival Guide blog, so an additional step will be required until the patch is included. I know, I hate it when that happens too. Here's what the "error" looks like. # luupgrade -u -s /mnt -n s10u9-baseline System has findroot enabled GRUB No entry for BE in GRUB menu Copying failsafe kernel from media. 61364 blocks miniroot filesystem is Mounting miniroot at ERROR: The auto registration file does not exist or incomplete. The auto registration file is mandatory for this upgrade. Use -k argument along with luupgrade command. autoreg_file is path to auto registration information file. See sysidcfg(4) for a list of valid keywords for use in this file. The format of the file is as follows. oracle_user=xxxx oracle_pw=xxxx http_proxy_host=xxxx http_proxy_port=xxxx http_proxy_user=xxxx http_proxy_pw=xxxx For more details refer "Oracle Solaris 10 9/10 Installation Guide: Planning for Installation and Upgrade". As with the previous problem, this is also easy to work around. Assuming that you don't want to use the auto-registration feature at upgrade time, create a file that contains just autoreg=disable and pass the filename on to luupgrade. The media is a standard Solaris media. The media contains an operating system upgrade image. The media contains version . Constructing upgrade profile to use. Locating the operating system upgrade program. Checking for existence of previously scheduled Live Upgrade requests. Creating upgrade profile for BE . Checking for GRUB menu on ABE . Saving GRUB menu on ABE . Checking for x86 boot partition on ABE. Determining packages to install or upgrade for BE . Performing the operating system upgrade of the BE . CAUTION: Interrupting this process may leave the boot environment unstable or unbootable. The Live Upgrade operation now proceeds as expected. Once the system upgrade is complete, we can manually register the system. • VB.NET - Read lines from command line to Windows form possible?

  Hey Overflow, I have an application which serves as a user interface for a spartan/command line program. I have the program running on a separate process, and my application monitors it to see if it is responding and how mush CPU it is utilising. Now I have a list of files in my program (listbox) which are to be sent to the application, which happens fine. But I want to be able to read text from the com-line so as to determine when the first file has been processed. Com-line says one of "selecting settings", "unsupported format" and "cannot be fixed". What I want to be able to do is when it says one of these three things, remove item(0) in listbox1. Is this possible? I thought of programming an event which handles com_exe.print or something or other, if possible.
