  • Make Nginx fail when SSL certificate not present, instead of hopping to only available certificate

    - by Oli
I've got a bunch of websites on a server, all hosted through nginx. One site has a certificate, the others do not. Here's an example of two sites, using (fairly accurate) representations of real configuration: server { listen 80; server_name ssl.example.com; return 301 https://ssl.example.com$request_uri; } server { listen 443 ssl; server_name ssl.example.com; } server { listen 80; server_name nossl.example.com; } SSL works on ssl.example.com great. If I visit http://nossl.example.com, that works great, but if I try to visit https://nossl.example.com (note the SSL), I get ugly warnings about the certificate being for ssl.example.com. By the sounds of it, because ssl.example.com is the only site listening on port 443, all requests are being sent to it, regardless of domain name. Is there anything I can do to make sure a Nginx server directive only responds to domains it's responsible for?

  • Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible

    - by TK Kocheran
I can't seem to get a symlink working in my Apache VirtualHost, no matter what I try and I see the following error in the error log: Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible: /var/www/carddesigner I can browse the actual symlink from Linux with no problems whatsoever: $ ls -l /var/www | grep "carddesigner" lrwxrwxrwx 1 rfkrocktk rfkrocktk 64 2011-02-28 16:52 carddesigner -> /home/rfkrocktk/Documents/Projects/Work/carddesigner/build/main/ Additionally, I've made sure that the my VirtualHost allows the FollowSymLinks option: /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-localhost: <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80> ServerAdmin ########## DocumentRoot /var/www <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Deny from all </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. Any ideas? Here are my permissions on the actual referenced files: $ ls -l ~/Documents/Projects/Work/carddesigner/build/main total 12 drwxrwxrwx 5 rfkrocktk rfkrocktk 4096 2011-02-28 16:11 advanced drwxrwxrwx 2 rfkrocktk rfkrocktk 4096 2011-02-28 16:10 core drwxrwxrwx 2 rfkrocktk rfkrocktk 4096 2011-02-28 16:10 simple Seems like the permissions are good to go, right?

  • Networking problems in VMWare with wireless bridge

    - by Robert Koritnik
Barebone data: virtualization: VMWare Workstation 6.5 (latest) Host: Windows Server 2008 x64 Guest: Windows Server 2008 x86 Host network adapter: wireless Guest network adapter 1: over Bridge VMNet (automatic) Guest network adapter 2: over Host only VMNet Problem When I surf the net within VM my internet connection just gets stalled (not dropped). It doesn't experience any timeout whatsoever, it just stops downloading/communicating. For instance: I start downloading a file with a browser (IE/FF/CR doesn't matter) and I have to pause/restart download when speed drops to 0. I could wait indefinitelly but connection won't pickup automatically. What did I miss in my network configuration? Update 1 I've tested this in various combinations. This works fine when host is connected via Ethernet. But when connected via Wifi, the connection on the guest works as previously described. It connects fine. It gets a valid IP from DHCP... Everything is cool as long as you don't start doing some intensive network traffic (ie. download a 2MB file) In this case it starts downloading and stops after a while. Speed just drops to 0B/s... Sometimes it picks up back, sometimes it doesn't. Connection still stays and works. I can ping around with no problem.

  • apache2: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long when visiting port 80? help!

    - by John
Hi, I have an Ubuntu 10 x64 server edition machine. I got a second IP and configured /etc/network/interfaces like so (actual IPs and gateways removed): [code] auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet dhcp auto eth0 auto eth0:0 iface eth0 inet static address [ my first IP ] netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway [ my first gateway ] iface eth0:0 inet static address [ my second IP ] netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway [ my second gateway ] [/code] /etc/apache2/ports.conf: [code] Listen 80 NameVirtualHost [ my first IP ]:80 NameVirtualHost [ my second IP ]:80 # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl # to # Server Name Indication for SSL named virtual hosts is currently not # supported by MSIE on Windows XP. Listen 443 NameVirtualHost [ my first IP - some site is running SSL successfully using it ]:443 Listen 443 [/code] /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/mysite.conf: [code] ServerName mysite.com Include /var/www/mysite.com/djangoproject/apache/django.conf [/conf] [/code] Then when visiting http[mysite].com:80 or http[mysite].com (:// removed because serverfault doesn't allow me to post hyperlinks), I get: [code] An error occurred during a connection to [mysite].com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) [/code] My guess is that the configuration file is not being picked up, and apache is therefore looking for the default-ssl file, which is not in conf-enabled. If I were to configure that file properly, it seems I would successfully connect to whatever default directory is specified in the default-ssl file. But I want to connect to my website. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Gittornado with Nginx fails to push and pull

    - by Josh Buell
I'm making a simple website to host git repositories, much like github. I'm using Gittornado to handle git Smart HTTP requests, and it works perfectly locally; I can clone, push, pull, etc... But when I put it behind Nginx, git commands stop working, giving no errors except: "fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly" I know that it's Nginx that's causing the trouble because if I open the port that tornado is running on and try my git commands through that (i.e. "git pull \http://mysite.com:8000/myrepository master" instead of "git pull \http://mysite.com/myrepository master" [backslashes added because Server Fault says I have too many links]) everything works as expected. The Nginx access and error logs don't seem to say anything interesting, so I'm reasonably sure that it has something to do with the way Nginx is compressing or chunking the requests/responses, causing git to think there's been an unexpected hangup, but I'm not sure what to do to fix it, since this is my first time with Nginx. My Nginx configuration file is basically a clone of the on found here; I've tried commenting out various likely-seeming options to see if they were causing the problem, but none of them fixed it so I assume there's some default behavior I need to suppress, I'm just not sure which. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Since it works not through Nginx, I'm considering just redirecting git requests to the tornado port itself, but this feels like a hack rather than a clean solution...

  • SharePoint solution package not deploying to all front-ends

    - by Alex
I have a WSP that contains a web part. It's being built using WSPBuilder. Most of the time, the WSP deploys perfectly. However, in two of our test environments (and sadly, in production, too) the WSP doesn't deploy properly to all the web front ends. The assemblies make it into the GAC, and the .webpart files get provisioned. The problem is that a tool part that the web part relies on for configuration simply fails to appear. I've determined that every time this has happened, it has been isolated to a single web front end. I've been able to resolve the issue by doing an stsadm -o deploysolution to re-deploy the solution, and in one instance it was resolved by the end user deactivating/reactivating the feature. Unfortunately, though, this has made it impossible to determine if the control isn't being deployed properly, or if it's some other issue. Any thoughts on this? Could it be a problem with the WSP, or is it likely to be environmental?

  • Windows Server 2008 32 bit & windows 7 professional SP1

    - by Harry
I'm testing my new Windows Server 2008 32 bit edition (2 servers) as a server and Windows 7 professional 32 bit as a client. Let say one is a primary domain controller (PDC) and the other is a backup domain controller (BDC) like the old time to ease. Every setup were done in the PDC and just replicate to BDC. Didn't setup anything, just install the server with AD, DNS, DHCP, that's all. Then I use my windows 7 pro 32 bit to join the domain. It worked. After that I tried to change the password of a the user (not administrator) but it always failed said it didn't meet the password complexity setup while in fact there's no setup at all either in account policy, default domain policy or even local policy. Tried to disable the password complexity in the default domain policy instead of didn't set all then test again but still failed. Browse and found suggestion to setup the minimum and maximum password age to 0 but it also failed. Tried to restart the server and the client then change password, still failed with the same error, didn't meet password complexity setup. Tried to see in the rsop.msc but didn't found anything. In fact, if I see the setup in another system with windows server 2003 and windows xp, using rsop.msc I can see there's setup for computer configuration windows settings security settings account policies password policy. I also have a windows 7 pro 32 bit in a windows server 2003 32 bit environment but unable to find the same setting using rsop but this windows 7 works fine. anyone can give suggestion what's the problem and what to do so I can change my windows 7 pro laptop password in a windows server 2008 environment? another thing, is it the right assumption that we can see all the policies setting in windows 7 whether it's in a windows server 2003 or 2008 environment? thanks.

  • BGP Multihomed/Multi-location best practice

    - by Tom O'Connor
We're in the process of designing a new iteration of our network where we improve resilliency by adding a second datacentre. We'll be adding a second datacentre, with an identical configuration of servers as our primary location. To achieve network connectivity, we're looking into a couple of possible methods. See earlier questions http://serverfault.com/questions/86736/best-way-to-improve-resilience and http://serverfault.com/questions/101582/dns-round-robin-failover-and-load-balancing I'm pretty convinced that BGP is the right way to go about this, and this question is not about RRDNS. 1) If we have 2 locations, do we announce the same IP address block from both locations? 2) If we did this, but had a management ssh interface on x.x.x.50 from datacentre A, but it was on x.x.x.150 in datacentre B. What is the best practice mechanism for achieving this? Because if I were nearest to A, then all my traffic would go to x.50, but if i attempted to connect to x.150, I'd not be able to connect, because this address wouldn't be valid at A, but only at B. Is the best solution to announce 2 different netblocks, one at each location, facilitating the need for RRDNS, or to announce a single block, and run some form of VPN between the two sites for managment traffic?

  • Apache2 with lighttpd as proxy

    - by andrzejp
Hi, I am using apache2 as web server. I would like to help him lighttpd as a proxy for static content. Unfortunately I can not well set up lighttpd and apache2. (OS: Debian) Important things from lighttpd.config: server.modules = ( "mod_access", "mod_alias", "mod_accesslog", "mod_proxy", "mod_status", ) server.document-root = "/www/" server.port = 82 server.bind = "localhost" $HTTP["remoteip"] =~ "127.0.0.1" { alias.url += ( "/doc/" => "/usr/share/doc/", "/images/" => "/usr/share/images/" ) $HTTP["url"] =~ "^/doc/|^/images/" { dir-listing.activate = "enable" } } I would like to use lighttpd in only one site operating as a virtual directory on apache2. Configuration of this virtual directory: ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On ProxyPass /images http://0.0.0.0:82/ ProxyPass /imagehosting http://0.0.0.0:82/ ProxyPass /pictures http://0.0.0.0:82/ ProxyPassReverse / http://0.0.0.0:82/ ServerName MY_VALUES ServerAlias www.MY_VALUES UseCanonicalName Off DocumentRoot /www/MYAPP/forum <Directory "/www/MYAPP/forum"> DirectoryIndex index.htm index.php AllowOverride None ... As you can see (or not;)) my service is physically located at the path: / www / myapp / forum and I would like to support lighttpd dealt with folders: / www / myapp / forum / images / www / myapp / forum / imagehosting / www / myapp / forum / pictures and left the rest (PHP scripts) for apache After running lighttpd and apache2 working party, but did not show up any images of these locations. What is wrong?

  • SQL Server Installaion error 0x84B40000

    - by Kurtevich
I have a problem installing SQL Server 2008 R2. Long time ago I had it installed, and then uninstalled. It was left in "Add/remove programs", but I didn't pay attention on that. I had 2005 installed. And now there is a need to install 2008. I removed 2005 and started installing 2008, but it says that space on C: is not enough. That's when I found out that "Add/remove programs" shows it occupying more than 4 gigabytes, though I used to uninstall it. So I click "Remove", it shows all those many screens and validations, shows that removal completed, but the size of Program Files folder is still more than 4 GB. I removed (from "Add\remove programs" everything that had "SQL Server" in it's name, but that main "SQL Server 2008" item is still there and still 4 GB and uninstalling does nothing. Because installation of SQL Server did not show existing instances, and I don't see any running services related to SQL server (well, almost any, more details in the end), I though that this folder contains just some leftover staff and data and deleted it manually. Then agreed to removing of the item in "Add/remove programs" and everything looks clean. Now every time I try to install SQL Server (even in the minimum configuration), I receive the following error: SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error: The specified credentials that were provided for the SQL Server service are not valid. To continue, provide a valid account and password for the SQL Server service. Error code 0x84B40000. What is this service mentioned here? This error looks like I'm trying to add features to existing server and it can't login. But the setup didn't ask me for any credentials, except one username that couldn't be changed. Here are the services shown that can be related, both disabled and pointing to non-existing executables: SQL Active Directory Helper Service SQL Full-text Filter Daemon Launcher (MSSQLSERVER) I understand that this must be because of my manual deletion, but is there a way to clean it up now?

  • Lighttpd - byte range request doesn't work. can't stream mp4

    - by w-01
Am attempting to use the lastest flowplayer. (if it could work it would be pretty awesome btw) http://flowplayer.org One of the cool things about it is it uses the new HTML5 video element and supports random seeking/playback. In order to do this, you need a byte range request capable server on the backend. Luckily I'm using Lighttpd 1.5.0 on the backend. Unfortunately the current behavior is that when I do a random seek, the video simply restarts itself from the beginning. the docs say: "For HTML5 video you don't have to do any client side configuration. If your server supports byte range requests then seeking should work on the fly. Most servers including Apache, Nginx and Lighttpd support this." On my page, using chrome web developer tools, i can see when the video is requested, the server response headers indicate it is able to acce[t byte ranges. Accept-Ranges:bytes when I do random seek in the player, I can see that that byte ranges are request appropriately in the request header: Range: bytes=5668-10785 I can also verify the moov atom is at the front of the video file. My question here is if there is something else on the lighttpd side i'm missing in order to enable byte-range requests? The reason i ask is because the current behavior suggests that the lighttpd simply doesn't understand the byte range request and is just reserving the video from the beginning. Update it's clearer to put this here. As per RJS' suggestion I ran a curl command. in the response it looks like lighttpd is working as expected. Content-Range: bytes 1602355-18844965/18844966 Content-Length: 17242611

  • Patching Synaptics Driver In Ubuntu

    - by danben
I've got an HP Envy with the new Synaptics Clickpad - the device is not supported out of the box by Ubuntu, so I downloaded this patch (https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/67335/), applied it to synaptics.c in the linux kernel source, rebuilt the kernel and booted from it. Nothing changed. I'm new to Linux and don't know much about driver configuration; how can I check that the newly-produced synaptics.o file is actually being used somewhere? Or if it is obvious, what step did I leave out? Separately, I tried following the instructions in this thread: http://georgia.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8989185&postcount=11 There, someone posted the patch along with a Makefile and instructions for installation. When I followed those, my mouse stopped working altogether. Not desirable, but at least I know it had some effect. The Makefile is posted below; I get the gist of what it's doing, but don't have enough knowledge to figure out why it would cause the device to stop responding entirely. obj-m := psmouse.o psmouse-objs := psmouse-base.o synaptics.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_ALPS) += alps.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_ELANTECH) += elantech.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_OLPC) += hgpk.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_LOGIPS2PP) += logips2pp.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_LIFEBOOK) += lifebook.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_TRACKPOINT) += trackpoint.o psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_TOUCHKIT) += touchkit_ps2.o KDIR := /lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/build PWD := $(shell pwd) default: $(MAKE) -C $(KDIR) SUBDIRS=$(PWD) modules install: @cp psmouse.ko /lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/kernel/drivers/input/mouse/

  • Segmentation fault on login to mysql

    - by numberwhun
Hello everyone! I recently did a fresh install of Ubuntu on my laptop (HP dv7, AMD Dual Core with 4 gigs RAM). I am working on installing my development environment and tools and one of the first things I was working on is getting MySQL installed. The following was my configure statement with options: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-big-tables --with-unix-socket-path=/usr/local/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock --with-named-curses-libs=/lib/libncurses.so.5.7 After I did the make;make install, I did the post configuration such as setting the root password and installing the mysqld daemon in its rightful place. My issue is when I try to log in to mysql to start using it, the following shows what happens: $ mysql -u root -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 1 Server version: 5.1.42 Source distribution Segmentation fault I have searched Google extensively, I have searched through the mysql bugs database and I have yet to find anything that matches my issue. Here is the contents of my my.cnf file, in case you want to see it: $ cat /etc/my.cnf [mysqld] basedir=/usr/local/mysql datadir=/usr/local/mysql socket=/usr/local/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock [mysql.server] user=mysql #basedir=/var/lib [client] socket=/usr/local/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock [mysqld_safe] err-log=/usr/local/mysql/logs/mysqld.log pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid I am really hoping that someone here can tell me what has gone wrong with my installation as I would really love to know. I welcome and look forward to all responses. Thank you in advance! Best regards, Jeff

  • Internet connection & IIS stopped on windows xp after VMware server 2 installation

    - by Eduardo Xavier
Hi, I'm running a local network. My IP ranges from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.15. All IP are static ones. And my router's IP is 192.168.1.1 and I provide it as default gateway and preferred DNS server on client machines. Everything worked fine on this scenario. I could use internet and reach services on other machines. BUT I have installed VMware server 2 on the windows XP to host windows 2003 Virtual Machine (VM). I set the following configuration: Windows XP's => 192.168.1.11. Windows 2003 => 192.168.1.12. (virtual machine) This approach worked just fine as it used to work with Microsoft Virtual PC. I can access mysql & IIS websites on the windows 2003 virtual machine. BUT two things doesn't work anymore on the Windows XP: internet connection - but I can see the MAC address on the wireless router IIS - Ping on 127.0.0.1 it's ok as I can hit localhost:8222 nor localhost Does anyone knows how to fix any of this? (at least the internet connection)

  • Issues with sustained traffic with PFSense

    - by Farseeker
Last week we had to replace our PFSense firewall because it had a catastrophic hardware failure. All but one of the NICs were taken out of the old server and put into the new one. The one NIC that was not moved was the LAN NIC as this is on-board. The other NICs are all WAN connections and the must all be present (i.e. I can't disable one just for the sake of testing) After re-installing PFSense and restoring our backup of the configuration, everything came back online just fine, however on the new hardware any download that takes longer than about 10 seconds just times out in the middle. Example 1: Downloading from Microsoft.com goes at about 900k/sec and times out after about 10 seconds (thus, just under 10Mb of content) Example 2: Downloading from cnet.com goes at about 300k/sec and times out after about 10 seconds (thus, about 3Mb of content). By times out, I mean that the download just stops, and you have to pause/resume to get the next part done, repeat and rinse until the download is complete. However it's not consistant, sometimes it's 10 seconds, sometimes it's 4 seconds, and it sometimes you can't even load a heavy HTML page because the page never finishes. I assume this is most likely because PFSense does not like the onboard NIC, as this is the primary difference between the two servers. It's recognised as NFE0, and there's no room in the server for any more NICs and I don't have any dual-port NICs handy to experiment with a different LAN connection. I've never had to troubleshoot this sort of issue before. Can anyone give me some pointers about where to start? Linux is not my forte so please be kind!

  • No external src ip in log files (my router ip appears instead)

    - by bongo_fury
I recently retired my workhorse WRT54G router/AP in favor of a Linksys EA2700. Since then, all inbound traffic (bound to an Ubuntu 10.02 box running LAMP)logged to Syslog, Apache's error and access logs, etc. (all behind said router) is getting logged with a src ip of 192.168.1.1, that of the router's internal ip. For example, here is an old entry from apache's access.log: 74.82.68.20 - - [22/Feb/2011:10:14:34 -0600] "GET /assets/css/style.css HTTP/1.1" 304 154 "http://example.com/view.php?event_id=1" "BlackBerry8520/5.0.0.822 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100" And here is one since switching the router: 192.168.1.1 - - [05/Oct/2012:21:29:25 -0500] "GET /somedir/print.css HTTP/1.1" 200 650 "http://example.com/somedir/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1"** That first field is the problem. Each and every entry in every log shows an "external" IP of 192.168.1.1, which isn't very helpful. Any ideas? Much thanks from a n00b!

  • supervisord launches with wrong setuid

    - by friendzis
I am trying to test a pilot system with nginx connecting to uwsgi served application controlled by supervisord running on ubuntu-server. Application is written in python with Flask in virtualenv, although I'm not sure if that is relevant. To test the system I have created a simple hello world with flask. I want nginx and uwsgi both to run as www-data user. If I launch uwsgi "manually" from root shell I can see uwsgi processes runing as appropriate user (www-data). Although, if I let supervisor launch the application something strange happens - uwsgi processes are runing under my user (friendzis). Consequently, socket file gets created under wrong user and nginx cannot communicate with my applicaion. note: the linux server runs as Hyper-V VM, under Windows Server 2008. Relevant configuration: [uwsgi] socket = /var/www/sockets/cowsay.sock chmod-socket = 666 abstract-socket = false master = true workers = 2 uid = www-data gid = www-data chdir = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay pp = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay pyhome = /var/www/cowsay module = cowsay callable = app supervisor [program:cowsay] command = /var/www/cowsay/bin/uwsgi -s /var/www/sockets/cowsay.sock -w cowsay:app directory = /var/www/cowsay/cowsay user = www-data autostart = true autorestart = true stdout_logfile = /var/www/cowsay/log/supervisor.log redirect_stderr = true stopsignal = QUIT I'm sure I'm missing some minor detail, but I'm unable to notice it. Would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Secondary IP (eth0:0) acts like main server IP

    - by George Tasioulis
I have a CentOS server, configured with 4 consecutive IPs: eth0 5.x.x.251 eth0:0 5.x.x.252 eth0:1 5.x.x.253 eth0:2 5.x.x.254 The problem is that all traffic goes out to the internet with eth0:0 (5.x.x.252) as the source IP, instead of eth0. # curl ifconfig.me 5.x.x.252 How can I fix this, so that all traffic goes out via eth0, ie my main IP? PS: My server is VPS running on a Xen dom0, the latter being configured in routed mode networking. Thanks in advance! • mrepo and grouplist/groupinstall?, mrepo not working as expected with group

    - by user52874
All, I'm trying to set up mrepo so we can have internal repositories. After quite the slog, things seem to be working as expected EXCEPT for groups. From man createrepo: EXAMPLES Here is an example of a repository with a groups file. Note that the groups file should be in the same directory as the rpm packages (i.e. /path/to/rpms/comps.xml). createrepo -g comps.xml /path/to/rpms So here's what I'm doing: wget -c http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/6/x86_64/os/repodata/comps-sl6-x86_64.xml cp comps-sl6-x86_64.xml /var/mrepo/SL6-x86_64/os/Packages/comps-sl6-x86_64.xml createrepo -g comps-sl6-x86_64.xml /var/mrepo/SL6-x86_64/os/Packages/ lots of output, no apparent errors or warnings BUT.. from a client: yum grouplist Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit Setting up Group Process Error: No group data available for configured repositories Here's /etc/mrepo.conf: ### Configuration file for mrepo ### The [main] section allows to override mrepo's default settings ### The mrepo-example.conf gives an overview of all the possible settings [main] srcdir = /var/mrepo wwwdir = /var/www/mrepo confdir = /etc/mrepo.conf.d arch = x86_64 mailto = root@localhost smtp-server = localhost pxelinux = /usr/lib/syslinux/pxelinux.0 tftpdir = /tftpboot #rhnlogin = username:password ### Any other section is considered a definition for a distribution ### You can put distribution sections in /etc/mrepo.conf.d ### Examples can be found in the documentation. • Formatting an HP ProLiant dl380 G4

    - by i.h4d35
I have an old HP ProLiant dl380 G4 server whose hard disk needs to be formatted. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to do so. For one, it doesn't seem to be detecting any Hard Drives attached to the Server. The Hard Disks show up in the Ctrl+A option (SCSI Configuration Utility). Also, while inserting the SmartStart CD (7.01 or 7.04), it shows a message that no logical drives are found and there aren't any options to create one. Alternately I've tried slipstreaming the SCSI Driver into the OS but that doesn't seem to be helping. Also, I have a USB Floppy drive (for the SCSI driver) but that doesn't seem to be detected. Also, directly installing the OS (MS Server 2003 Standard Edition) obviously doesn't work (shows no hard disk found) Could anyone please advise as to what other needs to be done to format my server? Also please tell me what are the possible errors/mistakes which've been made so that I can learn from them. I went through some questions here on ServerFault and the HP guides here but they weren't of much help to a n00b like me. Thanks in Advance.

  • How to set up ProxMox 1.9 on VPN?

    - by Gnudiff
Disclaimer: I have only rudimentary knowledge of VPNs. I would love to learn about them properly, however, at the moment I really need to make stuff work on short notice. I am trying to set up a ProxMox virtualization platform in an existing network. The network currently consists of several servers which have VMWare free edition. There is some sort of VPN defined in switch. In order for VMWare management interface to be accessible, there needs to be ticked a checkbox in the network settings for VPN and entered the VPN id. I didn't notice any such configuration option during ProxMox installation, so my Proxmox VE on the same physical server, using same manual IP settings (ip/nm/gw), is not accessible. As I understand I should touch the Proxmox's underlying Debian config in /etc/network/interfaces, but I have no idea, what should I aim for: do I specify the settings for eth0, do I make a virtual interface? How to make it accessible for both ProxMox VE and underlying future VMs? I read the ProxMox installation guide, but unfortunately it presumes better understanding of VPNs than I have. A config template or similar would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • mod_jk problem: Tomcat is probably not started or is listening on the wrong port

    - by Konrad
Hi, I am running some application on Tomcat 6.0.26. There is Apache in front of web server talking to it over mod_jk. Every few hours when I try to access application browser simply spins, and no content is retrieved. No error is reported in Tomcat logs, but I fond such errors in mod_jk log: [Sun Jul 04 21:19:13 2010][error] ajp_service::jk_ajp_common.c (1758): Error connecting to tomcat. • Redundant Microsoft server solution for small company

    - by MadBoy
I'm planning to change one server Microsoft SBS 2003 with SharePoint, Exchange and SQL database into something that will provide me with some redundancy and won't be single point of failure. I was thinking to buy 2x exactly the same physical servers and put 2 virtualized servers on HyperV or VMWare on each. Then i would put SharePoint, Exchange and SQL on that 1 physical server (shared onto 2x VM's). I would like 2nd physical server to be exact duplicate of the first one so that when 1st server goes down (for reboot or hw failure), 2nd takes care of everything so that users don't even see anything changed (in terms all their emails, sharepoint stuff is available). My questions are: Will I have to pay for licenses for both servers even thou only one instance of SharePoint, Exchange, SQL will be used at same time? What are proposed solutions to do that? Any additional hardware I would need, any complicated software configuration to be expected to configure such redundancy so that when one physical server goes down 2nd one is taking care of rest? What problems should I expect? This solution is for 60 people. Later on it may or may expand.

  • How to configure TFTPD32 to ignore non PXE DHCP requests?

    - by Ingmar Hupp
I want to give our Windows guy a way of easily PXE booting machines for deployment by plugging his laptop into one of our site networks. I've set up a TFTPD32 configuration which does just that, and our normal DHCP server ignores the PXE DHCP requests due to them having some magic flag, so this part works as desired. However I'm not sure how to configure TFTPD32 to only respond to PXE DHCP requests (the ones with the magic flag) and ignore all normal DHCP requests (so that the production machines don't get a non-routed address from the PXE server). How do I configured TFTPD32 to ignore these non-PXE DHCP requests? Or if it can't, is there another equally easy to use piece of software that he can run on his Windows laptop? Since the TFTPD part is working fine, a DHCP server with the ability to serve PXE only would do. Worst case I'll have to set up a virtual machine with all this, but I'd much prefer a small, simple solution. I'm not interested in solutions that involve using the existing DHCP servers or separating machines on the network for deployment, the whole point is to be simple and stand-alone.
