  Hi all, I'm working on a Sandbox based Wordpress theme and I would like to add a home link as a first item in the navigation. • iTunes Visualization -- What type of code is it written in and what does that code look like?

  Being a web developer, I know how event driven user interfaces are written, but do not have insight into other families of code (embedded software like automotive software, automation software on assembly lines, drivers, or the crawling lower-thirds on CNN, etc.) I was looking at the iTunes visualizer (example) and am curious: What code is used to write the visualizer? Objective C? Does it use Core Animation? What type of abstraction does that library offer? What does the code look like? Is it a list of mathematical equations for producing the crazy graphics? Is it a list of key frames with tweening? Is there an array of images, fractals, worm holes, flowers, sparkles, and some magic mixes them together. Or something totally different? I am not looking for a tutorial, just an understanding of how something very different than web development works. Oh yah, I know iTunes is closed source, so all of this is conjecture.

I mean, i have a function that requires only native objects as arguments, for every other type of variable it throws an error. So: func(Array); //works func(String); //works func(Date); //works func(Object); //works ... func([]); //Throwr error func({}); //Throws error I want to know if there's a way to distinguish between native objects and everything else.

• How can I loop through posts as well as child pages to display them all by date in Wordpress 2.9

  Some background info -- In wordpress I have my portfolio as a parent page with each item of work a child page. I also have a blog. I want to display the most recent 6 items on the homepage whether they are from my portfolio or my blog. I have a loop that displays the posts and on another page I have a loop that displays the child pages of a specific parent page. I only need to display the_title and the_post_thumbnail. Is it possible to loop through both the posts and the child pages and display them in order of date (recent first). So the final display would be a mixture of posts and child pages. Could it be done by having a separate loop for pages and one for posts, then somehow adding the results to an array and then pull them out in date order (recent first). Any help would be greatful.   I'm writing some JDBC code which calls a Oracle 11g PL/SQL procdedure which has a Custom Object return type. I can get the code to call the procedure, but how do I access the returned Custom Object to obtain it's contained values?. • PHP Retrieve Cookie which was not set with setcookie

  I have the following problem - a third party software is setting a cookie with the login credentials and then forward the user to my app. I now need to retrieve the cookie values: The problem is - I can do this easily in the Frontend/AS3 with var ticket : String = CookieUtil.getCookie( 'ticket' ).toString(); but in PHP, the cookie is not within the $_COOKIES array. The cookie values are: Name: ticket Domain: .www.myserver.com Path : / Send for: encrypted connections only Expires: at end of session The one I see, and set before in PHP is: Name: myCookie Host: www.myserver.com Path : / Send for: any type of connection Expires: at end of session Actually, since host/domain are both the same, it should be visible in the PHP script, since it is running on this domain. • Selecting an entire photo album with UIImagePickerController

  Hello all, I was wondering if there's a way to select an entire photo album with UIImagePickerController. What I have now is a UIImagePickerController with sourceType of PhotoLibrary. It shows the Albums, and navigates inside an album to select a single image... What I want to do is when the user selects the Album, instead of going inside the album, I want to load all the images to an array so I could do a timed slideshow of them. The delegate (DidFinishPickingImage) lets me run code only after the user has already gone into the album and selected a single image. Is there a way to do it? I couldn't find any information on this. Thanks!

• ASP.NET MVC TDD with LINQ and SQL database

  I am trying to start a new MVC project with tests and I thought the best way to go would have 2 databases. 1 for testing against and 1 for when I run the app and use it (also test really as it's not production yet). For the test database I was thinking of putting create table scripts and fill data scripts within the test setup method and then deleting all this in the tear down method. I am going to be using Linq to SQL though and I don't think that will allow me to do this? Will I have to just go the ADO route if I want to do it this way? Or should I just use a mock object and store data as an array or something?. Any tips on best practices? How did Jeff go about doing this for StackOveflow?

I wanted to plot date on X axis. for plotting I need to supply xRanges to plot with some decimal values.I don't understand how can i supply NSdate values to xRange (low and length).   I need to get basic user data from Facebook using FB.api('/<some_id>/'). This works well, but is slow, since I need to ask for every id separately and make several calls to facebook. Is there any way to gather all ids and ask for them in single request and get an array? EDIT I am not asking for user friends. I am actually trying to gather friends' friends of a user and that's something Facebook doesn't provide, that's why I am using graph.facebook.com/<id>/ rather than graph.facebook.com/me/friends. • Python string manipulation

  I'm trying to split a string into a int list for further processing. But somehow I can't remove certain whitespaces in between elements of the list. The string x is supposed to have a length of 1000 instead of 1019. I tried reading the documentation for python and saw the function strip() for stripping whitespaces from strings. However, it only works for trailing and leading whitespaces. How should I go about removing these whitespaces and also how do I convert a str list to a int list? • Should one use < or <= in a for loop

  If you had to iterate through a loop 7 times, would you use: for (int i = 0; i < 7; i++) or: for (int i = 0; i <= 6; i++) There are two considerations: performance readability For performance I'm assuming Java or C#. Does it matter if "less than" or "less than or equal to" is used? If you have insight for a different language, please indicate which. For readability I'm assuming 0-based arrays. UPD: My mention of 0-based arrays may have confused things. I'm not talking about iterating through array elements. Just a general loop. There is a good point below about using a constant to which would explain what this magic number is. So if I had "int NUMBER_OF_THINGS = 7" then "i <= NUMBER_OF_THINGS - 1" would look weird, wouldn't it.

  Hi, I am writing a Core Data-based iPhone app and I am new to Objective-C. I have a bug that I am really struggling to nail. I'm designing an interface in .NET that would be consumed from COM applications (mainly VB6, but Visual C++ 6 is also a possibility) and I would like to use Collection types as argument and return types for the methods in the interface. Questions: What happens to the VB6 built-in collection types (arrays, collections, dictionaries) when they go through interop? My current guess is that: arrays - System.Array collections - Microsoft.VisualBasic.Collection dictionaries - System.Collections.Hashtable Is that correct? Which interfaces should I use as return types? IEnumerable, ICollection, IList, IDictionary? Would I be able to do a For Each in VB6 to iterate over these interfaces? Should I use the generic or non-generic variants of the interfaces?

  Hi, I have a plist with key values. Each key represent a language, let's say 'it' 'en' ....ecc The value of each key is another key/value(=array) set. At startup I would like to create a dictionary by reading only a specific key. Let's say the locale of my iphone is 'it', then the init method would only parse it key, because the only way I found by now is to make a dictionary from the whole plist file and then another dictionary. But I can imagine this can become quite cpu consuming if I add more language in the future. thanks Leonardo
