Hi,
I have .net3.5 SP1 and VS 2008 SP1 installed in my machine. But what should I further install to create an Entity framework project. Is there any other add ons that is needed?
How do I change a local user account password remotely using VB.NET/C#?
I have looked into the DirectoryEntry class and know how to add users to a group but cannot figure out how to change a (local) password.
Like dude wtf I'm learning WPF and LINQ and all this cool crap but it's all 3.0+ stuff is that pretty widespread deployed by now these days?
Also let's say it can't run but they got like 1.1 or 2.0... will it auto-say "Click here to upgrade to latest .NET!"?
i have some picture files that were included in a vb.net project
how do i reference those files in my code?
what it be just filename.ext
or would it be project/filename.ext
or would it be something like environment.getfolderpath.project/filename.ext??

I need to access a file as text file and want to process it later. But before I fetch it how I can identify a file that I am taking is a text file only. If file is in another format my whole code interpret wrongly. I want to access and process only text file.
Currently i am using:
StreamReader objReader = new StreamReader(filePath);
How can I do so in C# .NET?
We use Xunit.net as our unit test framework for use on our .NET4 assemblies. We have it integrated into our TFS 2010 team builds quite successfully.
I now want to add code coverage to the nightly builds as well.
Does anyone have a list of coverage tools that work on 4.0 assemblies and could be integrated into our automated builds?
Hi Folks, does it matter if we install .net framework & then visual studio or does visual studio comes with the framework ?
I know it's a basic question but i never thought of this honestly.
TIA
i want to create a schedule for my windows media player instance in form in vb.net so that to arrange and play them according to time automatically how can i do that..
With alle the new paralell programming features in .NET 4.0, what would be a a simple and fast way to implement the producer-consumer pattern (where at least one thread is producing/enqueuing task items and another thread executes/dequeues these tasks). Can we benfit from all these new APIs? What is your preferred implementation of this pattern?
Hello,
How do I create non visual components in .NET that can be dragged and dropped onto a Form ?
For example the imagelist component is a non visual component, it appears in the toolbox and can be dragged onto a form and properties can be set for that component.
How can I achieve that ? How can I create non visual components. I know about user controls but that is not what I am looking for.
Thank you
I guess the title contains my whole question. How can I draw a string onto an image in Flash and .NET/GDI+ respectively and gain the same result? (I'm not a Flash programmer myself and it is rather hard to find out about what kind of unit Flash uses by googling for something like "flash font size"...) Ekeforshus
A while back a found a great-looking framework that allowed .net developers to implement a virtual file system. I thought I had bookmarked it, but it seems I haven't.
Does anyone know any frameworks for doing this?
EDIT: Here's a hint... It had a catchy, short name and it's own domain. Sorry, that's all I can remember :p
Hi to all.
I need a free library (or not too expensive) for .NET to work with the excel document. I need to read data, modify, save and add charts into the document.
Or in another way, I need a free library for creating and inserting charts into the excel document (only for charts).
I have found FlexCel and SmartXLS, but FlexCel doesn't support the charts (can't create), while SmartXLS has a small functionality.
Thanks for any help.
Hai guys,
I ve developed a salary calculating software using vb.net.... Its working fine and i ve converted it to an exe file... My drawback is it can be copied and pasted in another system very easily... I want to generate a key for the exe file and while installing the key should be used and when installation is completed ,the key should not be used again... Is this ya secured one or give me some ideas how it can be done....
Hi there,
I'm in the need for a SCP library (free or commercial) to be used in a .Net3.5 project. I've already had a look at SharpSSH but it lacks the a couple of basic features (like enumerating all files in a remote directory). Do you know a good, solid and cheap library?
Is there a quick way to check whether a path I have is on a local disk or somewhere on the network? I can't just check to see if it's a drive letter vs. UNC, because that would incorrectly identify mapped drives as local. I assumed it would be a boolean in the DirectoryInfo object, but it appears that it's not.
I've found classic VB code to do this check (through an API), but nothing for .NET so far.
Could some tell me the difference between 32bit and 64bit .NET assemblies?
I understand when it is needed to be precise instead of selecting AnyCPU configuration.

Mita

Like, if I write a program on windows using C# and the .NET framework, then drop the code on a Linux machine running mono, will it run exactly the same? Or would I have to rewrite it to work with Mono's libraries?
The .NET ComboBox autocomplete will not fully autocomplete with the display text contains a slash. It completes only up to the slash, leaving SelectedIndex == -1 and SelectedValue == null.
This behavior stupidly persists no matter whether your autocompletesource is set to ListItems rather than FileSystem or URL.
Is there any workaround for this that doesn't involve just throwing the ComboBox class away and writing a "MyComboBox" class?
What error handling should be used in VB.NET?
Should you use the "On Error Goto ErrorHandler ... Exit Sub ErrHandler ... End Sub" pattern or should you use the "try { ... } catch { ... } finally { ...}" pattern?
i am publishing an app in vb.net. it's creating setup.exe and a folder called application files. i am told that setup.exe is stand alone and does not need any other files. is this right? because when i put setup.exe in a different directory it says that some files are missing.
I recently moved to Visual Studio 2010 and upgraded my website to work with .NET Framework 4. (From VS 2008 - Framework 3.5)
What are things I need to know to improve site speed, readability or memory use?
For example, I found out that when I use AJAX ScriptManager, one of it's new properties is EnableCDN which enables me to load AJAX .js files from Microsoft CDN.
Hi all,
I'm looking for a .net library that will enable me to extract block attributes out of a autocad file. I don't mind paying for a developers licence but I should be able to freely redistribute the library itself without additional costs.
Is there a lib that suits my needs?
greetings,
Coen
