  • Rails - HABTM Relationship -- How Can I Find A Record Based On An Attribute Of The Associated Model

    I have setup this HABTM relationship in the past and its worked before....Now it isnt and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out whats wrong. I've looking through the rails guides all day and cant seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong, so help would really be appreciated. I have 2 models connected through a join model and I'm trying to find records based an attribute of the associated model. Event.rb has_and_belongs_to_many :interests Interest.rb has_and_belongs_to_many :events and a join table migration that was created like create_table 'events_interests', :id => false do |t| t.column :event_id, :integer t.column :interest_id, :integer end I tried @events = Event.all(:include => :interest, :conditions => [" interest.id = ?", 4 ] ) But got the error "Association named 'interest' was not found; perhaps you misspelled it?"... which I didnt of course I tried @events = Event.interests.find(:all, :conditions => [" interest.id = ?", 4 ] ) but got the error "undefined method `interests' for #Class:0x4383348" How can I find the Events that have an interest id of 4....I'm definitely going bald from this lol

    Hi, I am trying to develop a web application for which I need to capture a specific user-driven event (such as mouse dblclick) occurring on a different-website page loaded through my website. What I want to do is : User visits my website - hosted by me. There, user types in any website URL (e.g.: http://www.example.com) That URL page gets loaded as is. When user double-clicks mouse over any link or image from that page, a popup/side-panel is displayed with content related to that particular image or link. I can do this with a combination of PHP get_page_contents or include-page, and javascript dblclick. However, when user clicks on any link or submits a form, the control goes to that other website, where I cannot show the side-panel. I might be able to handle the links by proxifying them when user clicks on any of them. How do I handle forms submission and other stuff ? I can use a full-featured proxy, but that will be too heavy just for the purpose of capturing the event. My question is that is there a way to write some kind of light PHP script that sits on my website - that loads other websites contents as is, but lets me capture the mouse-dblclick event to show related-content in the side panel . I have already searched the internet, but could not find anything. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

  • deep zoom is not displayed

    I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 + Windows Vista Enterprise x86. I have used Silverlight Deep Zoom composer tool to export my composed images into Siverlight type. Everything is previewed fine after export successful message (I select browse from browser). But when I click the Test.html in the exported project to show Deep Zoom effects from browser, nothing is displayed. Here is my screen snapshot. Any ideas what is wrong? http://i41.tinypic.com/2dac561.jpg EDIT 1: to my surprise, there is no clientbin folder in my exported project. I have made two screen snapshots for, my project folder generated by Deep Zoom Composer under Exported Data folder; the content of GeneratedImages folder under my project folder.   • Trying to understand the Zend_Auth OpenId

    I'm using a slightly modified version of the Zend_Auth_OpenId classes to get openid logins from google apps. The results are very positive, as I seem to be getting successful results from Google. I cannot get successful results passed to Zend_Auth, though. For example, Zend_Auth_Adapter_OpenId on line 241: if (!$consumer->login($id, $this->_returnTo, $this->_root, $this->_extensions, $this->_response)) { return new Zend_Auth_Result( Zend_Auth_Result::FAILURE, $id, array("Authentication failed", $consumer->getError())); } The consumer calls login() which in turn calls the private method _checkId() in Zend_OpenId_Consumer. _checkId() always ends in redirecting to the openid server. How is this ever supposed to return a valid Zend_Auth_Result object? I'm pretty close to giving up and trying to implement another OpenId library, but I'm so close to just making this work. I must be missing something so obvious! Maybe I don't understand how openid works exactly, but if someone could help me understand I would really appreciate it.

  • Adding dynamic content with events in jquerymobile

    Currently I'm stuck with a problem in jquerymobile: I'm adding items to a list dynamically and use enhanceWithin() in the end (so styling is correct). After this I like to add click-events for each list item but the problem is, that enhanceWithin runs asynchronous and so I always get the error message "cannot call methods on checkboxradio prior to initialization; attempted to call method 'refresh'" When I delay the event-adding-code it works perfectly. Does anyone have an idea if there is a enhanceWithin.done event or anything else I can use? HTML: ... <div id="shoppinglist">Loading list...</div> ...     I am trying to write a web widget which will allow users to display customized information (from my website) in their own web page. The mechanism I want to use (for creating the web widget) is javascript. So basically, I want to be able to write some javascript code like this (this is what the end user copies into their HTML page, to get my widget displayed in their page) <script type="text/javascript"> /* javascript here to fetch page from remote url and insert into DOM */ </script> I have two questions: how do I write a javascript code to fetch the page from the remote url? Ideally this will be PLAIN javascript (i.e. not using jQuery etc - since I dont want to force the user to get third party scripts jQuery which may conflict with other scripts on their page etc) The page I am fetching contains inline javascript, which gets executed in an body.onLoad event, as well as other functions which are used in response to user actions - my questions are: i). will the body.onLoad event be triggered for the retrieved document?. ii). If the retrieved page is dumped directly into the DOM, then the document will contain two <body> sections, which is no longer valid (X)HTML - however, I need the body.onLoad event to be triggered for the page to be setup correctly, and I also need the other functions in the retrieved page, for the retrieved page to be able to respond to the user interaction. Any suggestions/tips on how I can solve these problems?

However, I am just wondering what I have done for closing the sockets is correct. I close the file descriptor. However, if there is a problem with closing it. What is the best way to handle this. Maybe some data is still being sent or received?     Is there a command to tell compiz that we want to bring in front and set focus to a specific window? How should we identify the window in that command? The reason behind this question is the following use-case: Suppose we have a wiki to keep notes of anything interesting we find out. It would be very convenient to have a keyboard shortcut to bring the browser window with our Wiki page in front and start typing immediately then with another key combination switch to the application we were working before I know that "ALT+TAB" switches between the last two used windows but cannot support more complex combinations of applications.     I have a script that pulls information from a facebook page. Information that isn't available using opengraph but it's something my client has requested for their pages. Anyway, is there any way to use the cookies from the browser in the cURL script? At the moment when you run the script it asks you to log in. But I am already logged into Facebook at the moment and the script is still asking me to log in. Is there any way to use the cookies from the browser? Thanks

That behavior is fine; however, if I select open, the aspx page is called again and after a long wait the file finally opens.   • dojo dynamic right click context menu

    There are tons of different dojo right click context menus in a page slowing down the browser. Some divs have context menus while some others don't. So I just can't have a dynamic global context menu and still be able to fallback to the browser's built in menu in some cases, do I? The non lazy instantiation of the dojo context menus just take too much time. How can I make those context menus dynamic? Preferably being created on demand when the user actually right clicks on them.

  • twisted .loseConnection does not immediately lose connection?

    I have a server with a few clients connected to it. When CTRL+C is hit (that is, reactor starts shutting down), I want to close all my connections, wait until they are cleanly closed, and then stop. I do this by going through the connected clients' transports and calling .loseConnection(). On the ones that are connected locally, they immediately disconnect. However, on one that is connected through the internet, the connection is not immediately lost. Communication stops - and closing the client program no longer even tells the server that the connection has died, although it does before calling .loseConnection() - but the connection is not deemed 'lost' until a few minutes later after I send a few heartbeat requests from the server. I understand that if a connection dies, there's no way for the server to know unless it tries to send some data. But if I specifically ask for a connection to be closed, why does it not just close/disconnect immediately? Am I calling the wrong function?

  • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

    When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

And if with JPA you can't do a batch update, what if I don't use transaction, and just use the following flow: em = emf.getEntityManager // do some query // make some data modification em.persist(..) // do some query // make some data modification em.persist(..) // do some query // make some data modification em.persist(..) ... em.close() How does this compare to batch update with regard to performance, and compare to a single transaction commit, measured by RPC calls to datastore server, CPU cycles per request, or so. Does every call to em.persist(..) before em.close() trigger a RPC call to the datastore server? Thanks very much for any response!

  • In C# or .NET, is there a way to prevent other threads from invoking methods on a particular thread?

    I have a Windows Forms application with a BackgroundWorker. In a method on the main form, a MessageBox is shown and the user must click the OK button to continue. Meanwhile, while the messagebox is being displayed, the BackgroundWorker finishes executing and calls the RunWorkerCompleted event. In the method I have assigned to that event, which runs on the UI thread, the Close method is called on the form. Even though the method that shows the message box is still running, the UI thread is not blocking other threads from invoking methods on it. So the Close method gets called on the form. What I want is for the UI thread to block other threads' invokes until the method with the message box has finished. Is there an easy way to do that?

    I've got a simple iframe that I want hidden until an event from that iframe is fire via easyXDM. It's working fine on Chrome, but somehow not on Mozilla. The event is being fired on both browsers, but only shows the iframe on Chrome. The only way to show the iframe on Mozilla is to call the same code using an onclick event.
