  Most of the sites capture the date (e.g. birth date) information as either a single entity (i.e via a calendar control) or instead as separate fields (date, month, year). Are there any benefits in showing them as separate fields? Are they represented in the database as DATE data type or as separate fields. I am just trying to understand the pros & cons of representing the date field.

  In VS2010 they added to all projects a virtual directory called "External Dependencies": It really bothers me especially because if there is a normal folder named "Apple" and one named "Deep" it will be in between the two, and, well, it just bothers me.   Yo. I'm trying to make a simple login system in PHP and my problem is this: I don't really understand sessions. Now, when I log a user in, I run session_register("user"); but I don't really understand what I'm up to. Does that session variable contain any identifiable information, so that I for example can get it out via $_SESSION["user"] or will I have to store the username in a separate variable? Thanks.

• asp.net web app - writing data to access or error logs?

  I'm looking for a quick way to log some data - I seem to remember a way to write to the access log, similar to System.Out.Println() but I can't seem to remember how to do it. I can't attach a debugger, nor can I add additional information to the web app via Response.Write(). Is there a simple way - a single statement with no configuration changes would be ideal - to write to either the error or access logs?

  I have a ELF shared object with a symbol initialized to a value. I want to know what the value of a symbol is. I know objdump -T will give me the symbol's address and length but I need the value: $ arm-linux-androideabi-objdump -T libcrypto.so.1.0.0 | grep -i FIPS_signature 001a9668 g DO .bss 00000014 FIPS_signature However, hexdump knows nothing about ELF sections, offsets and virtual addresses, so I can't use the information: $ hexdump -v -x -n 0x14 -s 0x001a9668 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 $ How do I dump the value of the symbol?   I wish to get the tweeter usename of a visitor to my site. I do not wish to post statuses or access any other information. I'd be happy to use OAuth, possibly with a 'Sign in with Twitter' button, but this then takes the user to a page which requests authorization for the application, that I wish to avoid. When the higher level transaction rolls back it removes my insert. Is there anyway I can commit my insert and prevent the higher level rollback from removing my insert? Thanks

  I'm making a crash reporter, and I can read the crash reporter files just fine within ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter. However, I want to also send along with the report any console (NSLog) information that was printed to the console (the stuff that one can see both in Xcode and in Console.app). However, I want to make sure I get only the logs for my app. I don't want logs from other apps. How does one get the console logs for a specific app?
