• awk and cat - How to ignore multiple lines?

  I need to extract Voip log from a D-Link router, so I've setup a little python script that executes a command in this router via telnet. My script does a "cat /var/log/calls.log" and returns the result, however... it also sends non-important stuff, like the BusyBox banner, etc... How can I ignore lines from 1 to 6 and the last 2 ? This is my current output: yaba@foobar:/stuff$ python calls.py BusyBox v1.00 (2009.04.09-11:17+0000) Built-in shell (msh) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. DVA-G3170i/PT # cat /var/call.log 1 ,1294620563,2 ,+351xxx080806 ,xxx530802 ,1 ,3 ,1 DVA-G3170i/PT # exit And I just need: 1 ,1294620563,2 ,+351xxx080806 ,xxx530802 ,1 ,3 ,1 (it can have multiple lines) So that I can save it to a CSV and later to a sql db. The problem is that {% paginate %} does not work, but other {% load pagination_tags %} and {% autopaginate object_list 10 %} works!   I want to setup a test database on a vm for development purposes but I cannot connect to the server via the network. I've got Ubuntu 12.04vm installed on 12.04 host in Virtualbox 4.2.4 set to - Bridged network mode - Promiscuous Allow All When I try to ping the virtual guest from any network client I get the expected result. But my consoleapp crashs when i call the cgi script. So i did a little debuging and write a text file after some actions i do in my .net program. The result was that my programm crash everytime i'd like to open a access mdb file. It told me that i need the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). But i cant belive this message because my .net consoleapp runs without errors if i start it from my own. So can anybody give me some advise how i can call my .net consol ab through a webscript. I'm happy for every advise So it don't have to be a solution using a cgi script. Regards, Nico

• Reverse engineering to get answers

  So I've spent the last few days looking for a way to create a simple image drawing app with wxPython, and I think the key to doing just that is understanding how to use Device Contexts. The problem is that the wxPython demo program doesn't demonstrate DCs, and the docs for both wxPython and wxWidgets don't explain as much as I'd like to know so I've decided to try and 'reverse engineer' an existing app to see how its done. The first problem I have is that I don't know of any drawing apps written in wxPython (or any written in Python for that matter o.o), and the second is I don't know how I'd go about doing it. Am I right in saying that I'm going to need a copy of an application's Python source and something like Winpdb? What do professional programmers do when they find themselves in a situation like mine, needing answers that the docs don't provide?

• Disable Crossfire on an ATI HD 5970

  I'm trying to create a computation cluster using ATI GPUs. The problem is that I have to disable Crossfire in order to get maximum performance out of the ATI Radeon HD 5970 I bought to get started, but no matter what I do I can't disable it. The problem is that I'd like to run an OpenCL application on the two cores in parallel, but right now they just interfere with each other. Any idea on how to do so under Ubuntu Linux, with ATI Catalyst 10.10?

  I have a directory like this mkdir test cd test touch file{0,1}.txt otherfile{0,1}.txt stuff{0,1}.txt I want to run some command such as ls on certain types of files in the directory and have the * (glob) expand to all possibilities for the filename. echo 'file otherfile' | tr ' ' '\n' | xargs -I % ls %*.txt This command does not expand the glob and tries to look for the literal 'file*.txt' How do I write a similar command that expands the globs? (I want to use xargs so the command can be run in parallel)

  So I was writing a web app with web.py that uses plenty of client-side javascript, and my database is on couchdb so the queries are in javascript too, and eventually I just got to thinking, why not skip the python and go all javascript? Besides, some functions need to run once on the client and again on the server to make sure you're not spoofing, so why translate between javascript and python? So I'm looking for a simple lightweight javascript web framework. All I really need is the url routing, request and response stuff (standard wsgi?), and a way to hook into a big http server like nginx. What do you guys recommend?

  i have some problems getting trac to be running with apache. have no idea of how to do and the tutorial i followed doesnt work. i have an empty /etc/apache2/httpd.conf. should it be empty? then i followed the tutorial (http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracModPython) and typed in: LoadModule python_module modules/mod_python.so so now it contains one row. i have ubuntu and i installed mod_python with: apt-get install libapache2-mod-python libapache2-mod-python-doc however, when i run a2enmod mod_python it says: ERROR: Module mod_python does not exist! but i have checked that it exists in /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_python.so. so whats the problem?

  I'm using TextMate on Snow Leopard, don't know much about how it works. After I hit an unknown keyboard shortcut, it suddenly decided to highlight almost all text in my Python files dark red - making all my Python virtually unreadable! I must have accidentally pressed a shortcut - but I've no idea what I did or how to turn it off, and can't find any relevant help in the manual or form. Even just 'turn off all highlighting' would do. Anyone know how to turn this highlighting off? Bit desperate!

  Since one of my scripts got incredibly complex, i was benchmarking the performance of moving some javascript processing logic to the server side in my ASP.NET MVC 4 application. According to taskmgr.exe, IIS Express only utilizes 13% of my i7. I decided to throw in 3 parallel tasks calculating the fibonacci sequence up to 50 and the IIS express still wouldn't utilize more than 13% of my cpu. Is there anything i can do, so that the application utilizes the full cpu, as it would in a real server ?

  Hi, I'm trying to convert this c code(http://nashruddin.com/OpenCV_Eye_Detection) to the python code, but in c style, he used cvROI thing, since ROI functions are not supported by python-opencv, I tried cvGetSubRect so Here is the eye detection part of the code : eye_region = cvGetSubRect(image,cvRect(face.x,int(face.y + (face.height/4)),face.width,int(face.height/2))) eyes = cvHaarDetectObjects(eye_region,eyeCascade,memo,1.15,3,0,cvSize(25,15)) for e in eyes: cvRectangle(image, cvPoint( int(e.x), int(e.y)), cvPoint(int(e.x + e.width), int(e.y + e.height)), CV_RGB(0, 255, 0), 1, 8, 0) return image; When I run this code, It draws rectangles irrelevant places. I thought, eye_region coordinates are wrong, and tried some coordinates, but it didn't work. Any idea ? Note :Face detection method works very well, and it's code is same with the eye detection method.

• Works using Django development server, but throws import error with Apache using mod_wsgi

  I have a Django project that works fine with the development server that comes with it. No errors are produced at all when I use "django manage.py runserver" and the app works fine, but when I try to use it with mod_wsgi and Apache the browser displays "Internal Server Error" with a 500 error code and it generates an import error in the Apache error log. Here's the error in the log: ImportError: No module named registration I'm using the Django registration module which is located in a path like this: /opt/raj/photos/registration I know that the registration app is in the path because I can fire up a Python shell, import sys, and get a list of paths using sys.path. Here are some of the paths output from Python shell: sys.path ['', '/opt/raj/pyamf', '/opt/raj', '/opt/raj/pictures', '/opt/raj/pictures /registration', '/usr/lib/python2.6',....] Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  I am using CM Synergy 6.4.3410 version And each time i do a code change ,if some one else does check in on same file its nightmare We need to reconcile it and take latest version from server then manually do the merging and check in . There is an option for merge in reconcile window,but it actually creates a parallel version.   Hi, I'm using pyodbc to talk to a legacy Access 2000 .mdb file. I've got a cursor, and am trying to execute this: c.execute("INSERT INTO [Accounts] ([Name], [TypeID], [StatusID], [AccountCat], [id]) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?)", [u'test', 20, 10, 4, 2]) However, doing so results in pyodbc.Error: ('HYC00', '[HYC00] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Optional feature not implemented (106) (SQLBindParameter)') I understand I can simply change the question marks to the literal values, but in my experience proper escaping of strings across databases is... not pretty. PHP and mysql team up to bring mysql_real_escape_string and friends, but I can't seem to find pyodbc's function for escaping values. If you could let me know what the recommended way of inserting this data (from python) is, that'd be very helpful. Alternatively, if you have a python function to escape the odbc strings, that would also be great. Thanks for the help.

  Imagine I have a .Net application that supports user extensions in the form of Python modules by embedding IronPython. Using Ironclad, I can allow users to make use of the NumPy and SciPy packages from within their modules. How good is the interop provided by Ironclad? My question is: can I use a NumPy array of type T provided by the user's module in the rest of my app that requires an IList<T>? Edit To clarify, IronPython exposes any Python enumerable of objects of type T as an IEnumerable<T> or an IList<T>. I'm not sure if NumPy arrays fit in this category. I would rather not have to call .tolist() on the NumPy array as the arrays may be quite large.

• Website downloader library

  I need to put a little project together for myself, and I need some functionality to download a page for offline viewing. Is there a library that will download a given page and its embedded images, and edit the img tags to reflect the local locations of the images. I know there are a lot of website downloaders out there, but I cant find something that i can use directly in my code. I have some basic scripts done in python, so Python is very welcome. but pretty much any language will do.
