This is the code I'm using: if ($('#chkjq_1').attr('checked') == true) It works fine on Firefox or Chrome, but on Internet Explorer 7, the condition is always false because the browser sets the property this way: <input id="chkjq_1" type="checkbox" CHECKED/> IE7 And the right way is the following: (Firefox, Chrome): <input id="chkjq_1" type="checkbox" checked="checked"/> FF, Chrome, etc What should I do to avoid this issue on Internet Explorer 7; is there a generic way in jquery to solve this? JDBC CommunicationsException with MySQL Database

I'm having a little trouble with my MySQL- Connection- Pooling. This is the case: Different jobs are scheduled via Quartz. All jobs connect to different databases which works fine the whole day while the nightly scheduled jobs fail with a CommunicationsException... Quartz-Jobs: Job1 runs 0 0 6,10,14,18 * * ? Job2 runs 0 30 10,18 * * ? Job3 runs 0 0 5 * * ? As you can see the last job runs at 18 taking about 1 hour to run. The first job at 5am is the one that fails. augment the factory pattern in java

I am trying to use a factory pattern to create a QuestionTypeFactory where the instantiated classes will be like MultipleChoice, TrueFalseQuestion etc. The factory code looks something like this class QuestionFactory { public enum QuestionType { TrueFalse, MultipleChoice, Essay } public static Question createQuestion(QuestionType quesType) { switch (quesType) { case TrueFalse: return new TrueFalseQuestion(); case MultipleChoice: return new MultipleChoiceQuestion(); case Essay: return new EssayQuestion(); } throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not recognized."); } } This works ok for now. If I want to add another question type I will need to modify the factory class and I do not want to do that. How can I set it up so that each question class registers itself with the Factory so that when I add a new question type, I do not have to change the code for the factory? I am a bit new to java and am not sure how to do this.

Problem creating PostGIS template database

I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run. CKEditor Modal Issues.

So I'm using CKeditor inside of a jQueryUI dialog. The issue I'm having is when you click on a button like the "link" button, the modal that pops up, won't let me type anything into it's inputs. I can change the values of the pull downs, I can drag the modal around the screen, and I can click on the buttons. But when I attempt to type into the text inputs, nothing happens. Has anyone else come across this? If so, did they find a solution? Thanks! Maybe this has something to do with it? http://dev.jqueryui.com/ticket/4309 But I'm using 1.7.2...

I've tried searching but couldn't come up with a defined way on how to add your own packages to a GWT project. Which types use a FileNameEditor in a PropertyGrid?

I need to change the editor for a property attached to a .net PropertyGrid, but I cannot set the Editor attribute of that property, because the property was generated by a tool, including all attributes. The desired editor is System.Windows.Forms.Design.FileNameEditor I can find many tutorials on the web to assign this editor to string properties by setting the editor attribute, but I cannot set the editor attribute in this case. However, I can advise the code generation tool to behave such that the string property which I want to be edited with the FileNameEditor becomes converted to another property with different type. In order to do so, I would need to know which type is edited by the FileNameEditor as default. I didn't find any list on the web which would tell me for a given editor which types employ this editor automatically when displayed in a PropertyGrid.

I am trying to perform broad-phase collision detection with a fixed-grid size approach. Thus, for each entity's position: (x,y,z) (each of type float), I need to find which cell does the entity lie in. I then intend to store all the cells in a hash-table and then iterate through to report (if any) collisions. So, here is what I am doing: Grid-cell's position: (int type) (Gx, Gy, Gz) = (x / M, y / M, z / M) where M is the size of the grid. Once, I have a cell, I'd like to add it to a hash-table with its key being a unique hash based on (Gx, Gy, Gz) and the value being the cell itself. Now, I cannot think of a good hash function and I need some help with that. Can someone please suggest me a good hash function? Thanks

I do not want to declare a general css for all input elements - I have declared the css as follows: input.form { color: #000; background: #fff; border: 2px solid #E1E1E1; font-size: 16pt; width:150px; } And I want to use it this way input class="form" type="text" name="last_name" class="required"/ But this wont work as there are two class attributes here. (directory structure of the original rpcbind source) # find rpcbind-0.2.0 -type d rpcbind-0.2.0 rpcbind-0.2.0/src rpcbind-0.2.0/man (directory structure of the patch download) # find debian -type d debian debian/patches debian/source [EDIT] I've figured out how to apply the individual patches in the patches directory: # patch -p1 < ../debian/patches/01-usage-fix.patch patching file src/rpcbind.c (and so on for each patch file) ... but I'm not sure what do with the patch-related files in the root debian folder. Correct way to detect sequence parameter?

I want to write a function that accepts a parameter which can be either a sequence or a single value. The type of value is str, int, etc., but I don't want it to be restricted to a hardcoded list. In other words, I want to know if the parameter X is a sequence or something I have to convert to a sequence to avoid special-casing later. I could do type(X) in (list, tuple) but there may be other sequence types I'm not aware of, and no common base class. -N. Edit: See my "answer" below for why most of these answers don't help me. ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out. I tried $.competency but it didn't work. I always get a "competency is undefined" error. I had to reinitialize the variable once again inside the callback. Is there a way to NOT reinitialize the variable inside the callback?
