• Parsing prototype AJAX.response XML in IE

  Hi I have an xml webservice which I'm fetching using PrototypeJS. The xml has the correct content type and is well-formed, and looks like this: <GetTokenResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <GetTokenResult>F655100D64F098F0AC33AFF414A4A0D5</GetTokenResult> </GetTokenResponse> The AJAX request is completing successfully, and I can access the GetTokenResult node in both IE and FF but can only get the text content of the node in FF. My code is below: node = transport.responseXML.documentElement.getElementsByTagName('GetTokenResult')[0]; rawToken = (document.all) ? node.innerText : node.textContent; I've tried innerText and innerHTML, as well as children[0] and a few other chance guesses but IE returns 'undefined' when I access rawToken. • How to re-focus to a text field when focus is lost on a HTML form?

  There is only one text field on a HTML form. Users input some text, press Enter, submit the form, and the form is reloaded. The main use is barcode reading. I use the following code to set the focus to the text field: <script language="javascript"> <!-- document.getElementById("#{id}").focus() //--> </script> It works most of the time (if nobody touches the screen/mouse/keyboard). However, when the user click somewhere outside the field within the browser window (the white empty space), the cursor is gone. One a single field HTML form, how can I prevent the cursor from getting lost? Or, how to re-focus the cursor inside the field after the cursor is lost? thx!

• referencing a WCF web service

  Our current project uses an asmx service. We want to keep this service for now, but would like to add an additional wcf service for ajax calls. I followed a procedure i found online to set up the service and it works fine with javascript in aspx files within that particular project but i'm unsure how to reference it in javascript files in a different project (in the same solution). If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.   I have an NSArray of JSON file locations. There are stored in the user's/app's Document directory and inside each JSON file is a name value. I'm able to retreive the data from JSON files, I don't need help with tht. But I need help on sorting NSArrays I have no idea how I can do that based on a value inside the file, while not being pathetically slow. This is on the iPhone btw. In sum how do I customly reorder NSArrays.

  My xml document reflects an Object. as referential Recursion is possible in objects and arrays. I need to reflect that in reproduced XML Structure too. Currently I am using Unique IDs to identify each node separately and a node like <recursion refer="IDREF"> and specifying the ID of the referenced Element. But in This way I need My Own Custom XPath resolver cause I want to let the users go deeper into the recursive node through the Identifying IDREF (Hope I am able to make you understand). So is there any better/liteweight solution ?? might be XPointer or XLink (I am not sure). Any help ??

• Mixing a4 and a3 in one Latex file

  Hello, I am finishing my thesis and have a large appendix. Some tables only look good, if first done on a3 and then (paper)printed on a4. Anyhow, working all the files seperalty is fine, but I struggle to compile all in one. I use the geometry package and start the document with: \usepackage[a4paper,left=30mm,right=20mm,top=20mm, bottom=20mm]{geometry} For the appendix, I want to include the table and use \newgeometry{a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm} However, the command is completely ignored and I can read "a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm" above the table. What did I miss? Is it even possible? If not, how do I get the numbers right, if I have to include it as a pdf (which works)? Thanks!

  Hi, I want to find out the zoom level of what is being displayed in a browser window based on the javascripts' window object properties (http://www.javascriptkit.com/jsref/window.shtml) to which I have access. I just can't seem to find the right mathematical formula for the zoom based on the inner width, page offset, etc. I found a solution, but that uses the document.body.getBoundingClientRect call which does not return anything in my case and for which I can't tell if there's a suitable replacement from the window properties.   We save our xml in a "text" field in the database. So first I check if it exist any xml, if not I create a new xdocument, fill it with the necessary xml. else i just add the new element. • Looking for the most painless non-RDBMS storage method in C#

  I'm writing a simple program that will run entirely client-side. (Desktop programming? do people still do that?) and I need a simple way to store trivial amounts of data in a structured form, but really don't see any need to use a database system. What's more, some of the data needs to be serialized and passed around to different users, like some kind of "file" or perhaps a "document". (has anyone ever done that before?) So, I've looked at using .Net DataSets, LINQ, direct XML manipulation, and they all seem like they would get the job done, but I would like to know before I dive into any of them if there's one method that is generally regarded as easier to code than others. As I said, the amount of data to be stored is trivial, even if one hundred people all used the same machine we're not talking about more than 10 MB, so performance is not as large a concern as is codeability/maintainability.   Hello all, I'm trying to write a simple plugin for the flash player flowplayer (documentation for writing a plugin for flowplayer can be found here). I'm new to flash and I think I'm having a problem connecting the .fla file to the .as file when compiling into a .swf. As it is, when I include the plugin, the player doesn't show up. I've set the .fla's document class to the .as file and added the .as file to the .fla's publishing classpath. The .as file can be found here and the .fla file can be found here Any ideas?

  My Documents are a mixture of XML and HTML Tags. where HTML tags are pulled from xhtml namespace and mine are from various namspaces. I wanna take user interaction events from XML Nodes of my Document. I First tried <do:landingTime xhtml:onclick="fnc">20:48:29.45</do:landingTime> with no Luck. But <xhtml:span onclick="fnc"> works. So is there any solution/tricks/hacks/backdoor to take events from my xml Nodes.

  Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. • Pipe less to emacs

  When viewing piped output to Less, sometimes I'd like to be able to view it in Emacs in order to get syntax highlighting and use emacs commands for searching, marking, copying, etc. I see that Less has a v command that can be used to open the currently viewed file in $EDITOR. Unfortunately this doesn't work when viewing piped input. Also, I don't know how to get Emacs to display stdin as a read-only document. So, is it possible to set up Less with something like v but that pumps the current buffer into Emacs as a read-only file? Thanks.
