• h1 title attribute [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Why don't TITLE tags get indexed in google? Hello there, I have a h1 element on my page which is working great. I have also been using the title attribute on this element which I don't think has been causing much harm at all. My h1 title is "The Great Ocean Road" and the title attribute on that is "Great Ocean Road" - so it's a variation of the h1 text. These are both keywords for the site so i'm hoping it's a good thing for seo. Is that a bad idea do you think? I'm not sure what Search Engines think about using a title attribute or even if they would 'mark me down' for doing it in such a way. Do you think if the h1 text is "The Great Ocean Road", the title attribute should be "The Great Ocean Road" aswell? Thank you in advance

• Assigning a colour to imorted obj. files that are being used as default material

  I am having a problem with assigning a colour to the different meshes that I have on one object. The technique that I have used is the first approach on this site. Is it possible to export a simulation (animation) from Blender to Unity? So what I would like to do is the following. I have about 107 meshes that are different frames from my shape key animation of my blender model. What I would like to have is that the first mesh will be bright green and up to the 40th mesh the colour turns to be white /greyish... the best would be if I could assign every mesh by hand a colour, however they are all default materials. And if I assign the object a colour, the whole "animation" is going to be in that colour

• Ubuntu partition won't display on screen

  I installed ggobi on my MacBook Pro, and it wasn't working right. I looked up some information, and found this site: Gtk Warning: Cannot open display I followed the vague instructions, but I think I just typed export DISPLAY=:0 directly into my terminal (I'm still in my Mac partition at this point). Fast forward a few days, and I try to go into my Ubuntu partition. It only gives me command line options. I remember my reckless input from a few days back, and I'm certain that it is the issue. My problem is that I have no idea how to get my previous display settings back. My Mac partition seems unaffected, but it'd be nice to get back into my Ubuntu partition. My last resort is completely reverting my computer to my most recent backup before I changed it, but if anyone out there knows how to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

• Assemble static site from templates? (don't want to reinvent the wheel)

  I have a site that is 100% static content (no php, just some javascript). There's several "blocks" like the header, menu, footer, etc. that are the same on each page. Rather than do a lot of copy/pasting, I was thinking of some kind of template system where I could run a CLI command (in php, perl, python, shell, whatever) and have it replace all the block tags with the actual block text. I did see some answers in this question, but those seem oriented towards "we provide the style and layout, you provide the text". In my case, I have everything as far as layout, css, etc. - just want to do a glorified sed. Before I invent the wheel, I was wondering if there was a tool out there already.

• ctrl + a doesn't work in browsers

  The combination for select all (ctrl+a) doesn't work in a browser (either if we speak about firefox or chromium). It doesn't work if I try to clik in to the adress bar nor if I try to use it to select what I've written in google search bar at google.com. When I press ctrl + a it simply takes the cursor before the first letter. This doesn't happen when I use a text editor software like Libre Office. There the shortcut does what's supposed to do, selecting all the text. What could be the problem?

  I have seen some ebooks/papers that were apparently scanned from their paper versions but the text in the ebooks/papers can amazingly be copied out. I suppose the directly-scanned versions must have been processed by some Optical Character Recognition software. So I would like to know what are the recommended Optical Character Recognition softwares? Especially those that are either for Ubuntu or free? If those for Windows are far more superior, please let me know as well. I am particularly interested in those OCRs that can accept a scanned pdf file as input and still produce as output another pdf file that looks the same as the input one but with its text copyable.   Beware of new line characters One of the most frequent issues we encounter in Tech Support is the corruption of files that are transferred between Windows and Unix.   The transfer can occur at any stage, but ultimately involves a transfer of a file using an ftp client that is running on Windows;  it could be ftp or filezilla. Windows uses two characters to mark the end of a line in a text file (CR/LF),carriage return, linefeed.   Unix uses a single character (CR). In all situations, it is best to use binary mode transfer for all files, including ascii text files. Common problems: upload a core file from unix to windows using ftp in ascii mode.The file is going to be larger on Windows than Unix.ftp doesn't know if this is a text file with real line-ends, it takes every ascii CR and transmits two ascii characters CR/LF.The core file, tar file, library ... will be corrupted when transferred to Oracle. download a shell script to Windows, and transfer it to Unix using ftpIf the file is edited on Windows, the unix script line-end chars will be doubled.Unix doesn't know how to handle that, and will likely tell you the script is not executable.Why?  The first line of a shell script ( called "sh-bang" ), identifies the command interpreter the unix shell should use for this script.   Common examples:#/bin/sh#/bin/ksh#/bin/bash#/bin/perl#/bin/sh^M    # will not be understood.#/bin/env ksh # special syntax.  Find ksh and run it dos2unix is a common utility found on most unix platforms, that repairs the issue of Windows LineEnd characters in unix script files.   I've written my own flavor of this utility for use in Tech Support and build environments, that is a bit easier to use, and has some nice side-effects. accepts a list of files:   dos2unix *.sh repairs the file in-place.  Doesn't generate a new file you have to name retains the same timestamp;  it is the encoding that changed, not the file content.   With version 3.0 the SSMS 2014 is fully supported. Since this is a new major version you'll eventually need a new license. Please check the EULA to see when. As a thank you for your patience with this release, everyone that bought the SSMS Tools Pack after April 1st, the release date of SQL Server 2014, will receive a free upgrade. You won't have to do anything for this to take effect. First thing you'll notice is that the UI has been completely changed. It's more in line with SSMS and looks less web-like. Also the core has been updated and rewritten in some places to be better suited for future features. Major improvements for this release are: Window Connection Coloring Something a lot of people have asked me over the last 2 years is if there's a way to color the tab of the window itself. I'm very glad to say that now it is. In SSMS 2012 and higher the actual query window tab is also colored at the top border with the same color as the already existing strip making it much easier to see to which server your query window is connected to even when a window is not focused. To make it even better, you can not also specify the desired color based on the database name and not just the server name. This makes is useful for production environments where you need to be careful in which database you run your queries in. Format SQL The format SQL core was rewritten so it'll be easier to improve it in future versions. New improvement is the ability to terminate SQL statements with semicolons. This is available only in SSMS 2012 and up. Execution Plan Analyzer A big request was to implement the Problems and Solutions tooltip as a window that you can copy the text from. This is now available. You can move the window around and copy text from it. It's a small improvement but better stuff will come. SQL History Current Window History has been improved with faster search and now also shows the color of the server/database it was ran against. This is very helpful if you change your connection in the same query window making it clear which server/database you ran query on. The option to Force Save the history has been added. This is a menu item that flushes the execution and tab content history save buffers to disk. SQL Snippets Added an option to generate snippet from selected SQL text on right click menu. Run script on multiple databases Configurable database groups that you can save and reuse were added. You can create groups of preselected databases to choose from for each server. This makes repetitive tasks much easier New small team licensing option A lot of requests came in for 1 computer, Unlimited VMs option so now it's here. Hope it serves you well.

  Hello everybody! With Natty coming out soon, I've been at work updating my deployment and self-config script to make my desktop on 11.04 run and look the way I want it to. One bummer is that dbus seems to have changed and does not permit, in the same manner Lucid and Maverick did, the authentication of the current user by terminal call using grep and cat. Ideally, to run the script, I would sudo -s and then launch it as # chmod +x install && ./install Instead of returning my user name.. it now returns root and applies changes to the root profile and aborts whenever paths do not correspond. • Java installation for Solaris Studio 12.2

  I have Solaris Studio almost working. My only issue seems to be Java. Here is what I get: ============================ aflory@aflory-laptop:~$ solstudio & [1] 1723 aflory@aflory-laptop:~$ Solaris Studio is unable to find a supported version of Java. Solaris Studio supports Java version 1.6.0_13 and newer and looks for a valid Java installation in the following order: 1) Location specified with --jdkhome command line option 2) In PATH environment variable 3) At /usr/jdk/latest location, if exists 4) At /usr/java location, if exists 5) At /usr location, if exists ============================ I try typing --jdkhome in the console but I get an command not found error. I have added the following to my /home/aflory/.bashrc file: PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_24/bin:/home/aflory/solstudio12.2/bin export PATH I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit. I tried installing the 64 bit version of Java JDK, then I tried installing the 32bit version of Java JDK. I don't believe there is a 64bit version of Solaris Studio.

• Mouse cursor is MASSIVE inside of firefox and chromium

  While installing ubuntu i accidently hit the high contrast option. I could not figure out how to diable it within the install, so i let it complete. I booted up into ubuntu 13.04 and HC was still on. I disabled it in Universal Access, and now am noticing my mouse curose is huge in web browsers. This is very much a stock install. Is there a setting to disable the HUGE mouse? I mean the thing is 4 times the size of text etc on normal pages. and its only in broswsers from what ive seen so far. EDIT Looks like its in everthing with text.. terminal, app store, folders and files... /sigh.

  Builtin LCD should be 1440x900 External LCD should be 1920x1080 If X200s is inserted into docking station the option mirror screen is always activated leading to a resolution of 1152x864 which looks terrible on the builtin and external lcd. My manual configuration for docking mode (seperate screens with maximum resolution) should be respected, but "Make Default" button has no consequences. • Properly create centered vertical navigation list with a hover image on both sides?

  I have a navigation list I placed inside of a , I am attempting to get an image that appears on both sides of a link when you hover. Basically a an arrow on each side of the link. I have managed to get the effect I am looking for with: <ul> <li style=""> <a href="#">Services</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">About</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">Media</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">FAQ</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">Portfolio</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">Contact</a> </li> </ul> .nav ul{ list-style:none; text-align:center; } .nav li:hover a:before, .nav li:hover a:after { content:url(../images/nav_bullet.png); } The end result will look like the following but with the list centered: link >> Hovered Link << link However I am not sure if that is the best way of going about it, and the image is too close to the text. I tried placing a margin and padding but that didn't work. To top of it off, the image is not vertically centered with the link text. Anyone know of a proper way to do this as I am just going by trial and error? Thank you in advance!

• SQL binary value to PHP variable leading zeros

  Using sql query to pull data from a mssql database results in a value that still has leading zeros. The data in database is stored as binary(13) - so it will pull all 13 digits. However the value is a text, so any leading zeros will generally show up as '?' in a form on the site - and in return will update wrong data to the database later. So what i need is to only select/display the text itself, not all 13 bytes. using: SELECT CONVERT(char,uilock_pw) AS uipwd FROM tbl_UserAccount or SELECT uilock_pw FROM tbl_UserAccount still adds the leading zeros to the char array. Example in database: 0x71776531323300000000000000 Would show up as: qwe123??????? But should be: qwe123 Im not even sure what character those ? represent. Using Echo results in a normal qwe123 - but not in a form.

Real Question : Is there anyway programmatically or manually I can get 1000+ search results (URLs using search query e.g. "Apple" returns million of results on google and I want as much as possible URLs of them results in a text file)

  I would like secure access to the text output by three PHP scripts (the text output is JavaScript and html) . The security level is much less then financial data but important none-the-less. I have considered purchasing AND studying https and SSL certificates. Hostgator charges an extra $2/month for a private ip plus $50+ anually for a certificate. This is more then I want to spend for this project (time + money). Is there a simpler solution that is: less expensive easier to implement. I'm open to different approaches.

  What's the better way to manage the image files of my app? i've been thinking about the way that i do right now (save the image as a BLOB IN db), and i ask myself if would be better to manage the image as text in my DB, i mean, convert the image to hex(length of 500), then save in the db as text, and when calling it convert it from hex to image, or something like that, but what do you consider as an Experienced Progammer that is the better way?
