  • Recovered folders from Camera show as JPEG files and can can't be viewed.

    I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software. I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type. Very Odd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Hoo

  • Can't recover hard drive

    My drive got corrupt after a thunderstorm. It used to be 1 partition of 2.5tb but now it shows 2 partitions. It's weird because 300gig free space is about how much it had before corrupting, but it was part of the first partition. I tried $ sudo resize2fs -f /dev/sdb1 Resizing the filesystem on /dev/sdb1 to 536870911 (4k) blocks. resize2fs: Can't read an block bitmap while trying to resize /dev/sdb1 Please run 'e2fsck -fy /dev/sdb1' to fix the filesystem after the aborted resize operation. sudo e2fsck -f /dev/sdb1 e2fsck 1.42 (29-Nov-2011) The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 610471680 blocks The physical size of the device is 536870911 blocks Either the superblock or the partition table is likely to be corrupt! Abort? n .... Error reading block 537395215 (Invalid argument) while reading inode and block bitmaps. Ignore error<y>? yes Force rewrite<y>? yes Error writing block 537395215 (Invalid argument) while reading inode and block bitmaps. Ignore error<y>? yes ... A lot of these. I can't use e2fsck -y because the first question aborts if I say "y". If I put a weight on the 'y' key it fails because none of the errors were really fixed. I asked this question before and tried using gparted but gparted fails because the first thing it does is: e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sdb1 giving the same error. The disk status says healthy. There are no bad blocks. This is very frustrating because I can see the data in testdisk and it looks like it's all there. I already bought another 2.5tb drive and made a clone using dd.   • Why Photoshop CS5's photomerge's result immediately disappear?

    I have a bunch of JPG-files which I want to stitch together with Photoshop's Photomerge function. I choose File → Automate → Photomerge... and browse for the files. Photoshop opens the files and starts analyzing. I see the process bar filling and different phases are mentioned on the process bar. Nothing weird there. When the merging is done (and if I don't blink my eyes), I can see layers-palette is populated with the chosen files and, by quickly judging from the layer thumbnails, they're properly aligned. Sometimes the image window itself can be seen, but not always. Problem is that the layers and the image disappear in a flash. There is no error message. Everything is like prior starting the photomerge. No file has been changed. I could continue to use Photoshop normally. This is what I've tried so far: Loaded folder which has 38 JPG images, 4272 x 2848 and ˜ 5 megabytes per file Loaded the same files, but chose Use Files instead of Use Folder in the photomerge's window Loaded 19 JPG images, 4272 x 2848 and ˜ 5 megabytes per file Loaded 10 JPG images, ⇑ see above Loaded 5 JPG images, see above Loaded 3 JPG images, see above Scaled the images to 2256 x 1504 and ˜< 1 megabytes per file Loaded in a set of 38, 19, 10, 5, 3 Following steps are tested with these smaller files and with a set of 5 images Read Adobe's forums and reduced the amount of RAM Photoshop uses gradually from ˜ 80 % to 50 % (though I didn't understand the logic behind this) Would've reduced cache tile size to 128K, but it was set so already Disabled OpenGL Scaled the images to 800 x 533 and ˜ 100 kilobytes per file, loaded a set of 5 Read more unanswered threads around the internet In between each test I closed and reopened Photoshop. This is the first time I've even tried using photomerge. Am I doing something wrong? How can I locate what is the problem? How do I fix this? Photoshop is 64 bit Extended CS5 version. I'm on a mid-2010 quad-core (i5) iMac with up-to-date Mac OS X 10.6.6. Edit: Weird. First loading the images into one file via File → Scripts → Load Files into Stack… and then using Edit → Auto-Align Layers…, which, effectively, is the same as photomerge (even the dialog looks kind of the same), works! Even with the original JPGs without any issues. This doesn't fix photomerge, though.

  • How do I make Windows pbrush default to a save-as JPG format?

    Every time I want to save some image I paste into the Paint application, it chooses a BMP/DIB format (which is the worst for saving things from the clipboard). How can I hack this Windows pbrush application into defaulting to a JPEG format save always? If it matters I am using Windows XP SP3 and Paint 5.1 at the moment. But, I thought the hack would be generic, and I'd like to do this across all my Windows machines.

  • Wallpaper in Windows 7 locked down by domain group policy?

    So I am in a situation where my wallpaper is locked to a specific image on my work computer via group policy. I can't change it via the Personalization settings since it is grayed out and says it has been set by the system administrator. Anyone know some local GPO and/or registry hackery I can do to override the domain's policy? I could probably get away with logging in under a local account for this, but I want that to be a last resort. Thanks in advance.

  • Copy all text in a LibreOffice Draw drawing

    I have a large flowchart, created in LibreOffice Draw (3.3.1), that I would like to copy all of the text from. I do not need, nor care about the order or structure, I just need all of the text from within the blocks. I can't seem to find any way to export without turning it into an image, and none of the "Paste Special" options allow me to get unformatted text. Is there a way to do this without retyping everything?

Then I found articles on ArchWiki and Wikipedia describing the subject. Now I'm not sure that my vague understanding of the subject is correct. Can anyone please explain what the CPU microcode is in plain English?

    I have the same slideshow in the exact same folder (C:\Images) on two computers which are syncing their settings over the Microsoft account (mail and other settings synced normally), and I have independently configured them to display wallpaper slideshows from that folder. However, the "Synced Theme" in Personalise Desktop repeatedly resets to a static image. Is there a way to ensure the sync sticks?

Is it true that "Cached memory" (as shown in the image below) refers to memory that is currently cached (available for use), and memory that was previous cached (previously available for use), but currently used (now not available for use) ? So if x = "Cached memory" (1184), y = "modified cache pages", z = "cached and were modified", x = y + z holds true ?

I wish to make a PDF, which would be searchable (based on the text from the source, the changes would remain as they are).   • Accessing temperature data on ESXi5.1?

    For ESXi5.1 (VMWare vSphere) images, I can see temperature data on the vSphere user interface (under Monitor / Hardware Status). I tried scouring the available snmp data using snmpwalk, but can't find the data anywhere in there. Maybe I'm missing something. Does anybody know the right MIB for temperature data? Otherwise, ow can that data be accessed? By the way, this is a machine installed from an image provided by HP.

However, everything I've seen indicates that before a VM is cloned, all the snapshots need to be folded back into a single disk image. But, what if I don't want to? Suppose I want to keep my stack of snapshots on the original, and then clone that VM such that the clone also had the same stack of snapshots available? Is that possible?

  • Android app crashes on emulator - logCat shows no errors

    I have just added the SherlockActionBar library to my android project. After some small changes (FragmentActivity - SherlockFragmentActivity, getActionBar() - getSupportActionBar(), imports) it all compiled nicely. After I run the app, however, the debugger stops, as though it had encountered an exception. However, there are no errors shown in the LogCat output. I just can't wrap my head around what's going on.
