ASP.net Literal or Page altering HTML string, causing formatting issues

We have a service that generates a report (using word templates and a 3rd party library), and then returns a string in HTML. While this HTML isn't great - its formatted correctly in this string. We want this HTML to show up on a page - format intact. What we currently have done is set an ASP.net Literal's text element to this string. While this works, I have noticed that it has reformatted the HTML string slightly. For the most part, it looks like it generated a bunch of new CSS classes, and a new style element in the HTML. This HTML does not exist in the string thats being returned. I could filter all of this back out, but wonder if there is a better way. I assume that the Page itself is altering something. What is the best way to display this raw HTML back to the user? I can't directly use a Response.Write(string), because this page does have a few other controls on it.

ToolStripComboBox + objects default string value

I am using a ToolStripComboBox to list some data. I am populating this combo with some custom objects: For Each obj As myObject In myObjectList myToolStripComboBox.Items.Add(obj) Next This works great except the text displayed in the combo is the name of the object class. I can understand why and realise that I need to do something to make the combo use a property from my class instead. The help files state: To add objects to the list at run time, assign an array of object references with the AddRange method. The list then displays the default string value for each object. You can add individual objects with the Add method. The bit in bold suggests I need to setup the default string value in my class. How would I go about doing this?

Retrieving/simulating run-time "layer" functionality in Flash under ActionScript 3.

Are there any AS3 classes to help arrange objects into layers, like in the designer, such that the objects all have the same parent? Obviously, I can use container clips to simulate layers, but I specifically want this kind of functionality for objects that have the same parent. My understanding is that the design-time notion of layers does not exist at run-time, and objects just have a depth index. I'm creating a class to simulate layering functionality with a single parent, but if one already exists, I'd like to check it out. On a side note... how do design-time layer masks manifest themselves at runtime in AS3? I thought maybe all objects on the masked layer share the same mask object, but the "mask" property appears to be null for all objects on the masked layer, even though they share the same parent timeline as the unmasked objects (i.e. unmasked layer object parent == masked layer object parent; therefore, no masked subcontainers appear to be in use).

logging in scala

In Java, the standard idiom for logging is to create a static variable for a logger object and use that in the various methods. In Scala, it looks like the idiom is to create a Logging trait with a logger member and mixin the trait in concrete classes. This means that each time an object is created it calls the logging framework to get a logger and also the object is bigger due to the additional reference. Is there an alternative that allows the ease of use of "with Logging" while still using a per-class logger instance? EDIT: My question is not about how one can write a logging framework in Scala, but rather how to use an existing one (log4j) without incurring an overhead of performance (getting a reference for each instance) or code complexity. Also, yes, I want to use log4j, simply because I'll use 3rd party libraries written in Java that are likely to use log4j.

Auto populate input based on file name with AngularJS

I am playing around with AngularJS and have not been able to solve this problem. I have a view that has a form to upload a file to a node server. So far I have manage to do this using some directives and a service. I allow the user to send a custom name to the POST data if they desire. What I wan to accomplish is that when the user selects a file the filename models auto populates. Is a base class with shared fields and functions good design

I've got a BaseDataClass with shared fields and functions Protected Shared dbase as SqlDatabase Protected Shared dbCommand as DBCommand ... //also have a sync object used by the derived classes for Synclock'ing Protected Shared ReadOnly syncObj As Object = New Object() Protected Shared Sub Init() //initializes fields, sets connections Protected Shared Sub CleanAll() //closes connections, disposes, etc. I have several classes that derive from this base class. The derived classes have all Shared functions that can be called directly from the BLL with no instantiation. The functions in these derived classes call the base Init(), call their specific stored procs, call the base CleanAll() and then return the results. So if I have 5 derived classes with 10 functions each, totaling 50 possible function calls, since they are all Shared, the CLR only calls one at a time, right? All calls are queued to wait until each Shared function completes. Is there a better design with having Shared functions in your DAL and still have base class functions? Or since I have a base class, is it better to move towards instance methods within the DAL?

Using custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox

Hi, I need to use a custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox. My requirement is that when user clicks on a link then a popup appears and the popup contains 2 or 3 tabs, user can click on any tab to see it's content. In one of those tabs I need scrollbar to show huge content but the scrollbar should not be default it should be custom with any color. Currently I am using "JQuery's JScrollPane" plugin http://jscrollpane.kelvinluck.com to achieve the functionality, but this is not working on IE 6,7 and 8, mean scrollbar does not appear on IE. It works fine on Firefox and Chrome. Note: the same plugin works fine on IE also when I use it on page's element which is available while page load but not while the element is shown dynamically on lightbox. Thanks

Placing an background image with padding in h2 tag

I want to create a headline (h2) with an image at the right-most area of the bounding box. I have the layout almost right except I can't push the image a little bit to the right of the element's bounding box -- how would I tweak my css so it is displayed correctly? I'm trying to do something like this: [{someHeadLineText}{dynamic space }{image}{5px space}] where the [] indicate the total available width of my content. HTML5 <audio> Safari live broadcast vs not

I'm attempting to embed an HTML5 audio element pointing to MP3 or OGG data served by a PHP file . When I view the page in Safari, the controls appear, but the UI says "Live Broadcast." When I click play, the audio starts as expected. Once it ends, however, I can't start it playing again by clicking play. Even using the JS API on the audio element and setting currentTime to 0 fails with an index error exception. I suspected the headers from the PHP script were the problem, particularly missing a content length. But that's not the case. The response headers include a proper Content- Length to indicate the audio has finite size. Furthermore, everything works as expected in Firefox 3.5+. I can click play on the audio element multiple times to hear the sound replay. If I remove the PHP script from the equation and serve up a static copy of the MP3 file, everything works fine in Safari. Does this mean Safari is treating audio src URLs with query parameters differently than URLs that don't have them? Anyone have any luck getting this to work? Html5 - Callback when media is ready on iPad wont work

I'm trying to add a callback to a HTML5 audio element on an iPad. I added an eventlistener to the element, the myOtherThing() starts but there is no sound. If I pause and the play the sound again the audio starts. This works in chrome. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this? myAudioElement.src = "path_to_file"; addEventListener("canplay", function(){ myAudioElement.play(); myOtherThing.start(); }); SOLVED Just wanted to share my solution here, just in case someone else needs it. As far as I understand the iPad does not trigger any events without user interactions. So to be able to use "canply", "playing" and all the other events you need to use the built in media controller. Once you press play in that controller, the events gets triggered. After that you can use your custom interface.

An action method in my ASP.NET MVC2 application returns a JsonResult object and in my unit test I would like to check that the returned JSON object indeed contains the expected values. I tried this: 1. dynamic json = ((JsonResult)myActionResult).Data; 2. Assert.AreEqual(JsonMessagesHelper.ErrorLevel.ERROR.ToString(), json.ErrorLevel); But I get a RuntimeBinderException "'object' does not contain a definition for 'ErrorLevel'". However, when I place a breakpoint on line 2 and inspect the json dynamic variable (see picture below), it obviously does contain the ErrorLevel string and it has the expected value, so if the runtime binder wasn't playing funny the test would pass. What am I not getting? What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this? How can I make the assertion pass?

JQuery-tmpl Template Switching Not working.

I'm trying to implement "more/less" functionality using the official jquery-tmpl plugin. I've looked at the examples, but I cannot seem to get the functionality to work in my own implementation. When I click on one of my "More" buttons, I seem to get an error thrown of: Uncaught TypeError: Property 'tmpl' of object #<an Object> is not a function This is my implementation here From what I can tell, the example I'm trying to replace is doing the following: Render the "Master" template On-click: Find the corresponding template object (tmplItem) to the clicked element. Pass in reference to a new template. Call the update function to re-render. Have I understood the documentation wrong? From what I can tell I'm doing the same thing as the example on the official documentation.

I'm using HtmlUnit to click on a HtmlElement that triggers Javascript action: currentPage = ((HtmlElement) currentPage.getByXPath("//*[contains(@onclick, 'check();')]").get(0)).click(); The element is: <a href="#" onclick="check(); return false;"> The page returned is quite similar to the page, containing that element: same URL, mostly same HTML, but there are some minor differences in the HTML and HtmlUnit doesn't save the new page. I'm using HttpAnalyzer to sniff the traffic and I see that the Webclient correctly handles JS and send the right request. The response is also correct, but when I dump the contents of the currentPage to a file, I see that the actual page didn't change. How can I fix it?

But because I declare the variable's value at the beginning of the script, the velocity variables don't stay on what I change it to. I need a way to change the variable's value permanently. I have an NSArrayController which is bound to a class in my Managed Object Context. During runtime the NSArrayController can have a number of different filter predicates applied. At certain intervals, I want to iterate through my NSArrayController's contents regardless of the filter predicate applied to it. To do this, I set the filterPredicate to nil and then reinstate it after having iterated through my array. This seems to work, but I'm wondering if it's best practice? Should I instead be polling my Managed Object Context manually? If the html page defines "onclick=xxx", element.onclick returns the click handler. However, if an event handler is defined in javascript, element.onclick simply returns NULL. What's the right way to get the event handler then? CORE DATA objectId changes constantly

Hello, I have some data that I export into an XML file and put in a remote FTP Server. I have to identified each object with a unique attribute, it doesn't matter wich is, but must be persistent always = it can never change. I don't want to create a unique attribute, sequence, serial, etc. I'm using the objectID but every time I use it a get a new reference. I know that before the object has been saved, it has a 'temporal id', but once it's saved, it gets the definitive. I'm not seeing this, never.
