    Hi, I have Ienum which contains number Data inside it. Attached the snapShot of Viual Studio, Enum that Contains Data: Just to brief about the above image, eLevelData is the IEnumerable variable, in which I have my data .   • [Smarty] Looking for variables which aren't assigned.

    What could happen if my template looks for variables which weren't assigned? For example: var uwfs_id = '{$tpl_uwfs_id}'; This snippet is from my javascript code. I outputted the value and it is simply empty. I know I could use isset(). But I couldn't find anything about how Smarty handles non-existing variables. So, what happens if template can't find a variable, because it wasn't assigned?

In pseudo-code: SELECT data FROM table Now would it be possible to select $_GET['percentage'] of random data from table? For example (again in pseudo-code): $_GET['percentage'] = 10; SELECT 10% of data from table order by rand() If this IS possible, how could I do it?

    I thought about this: Is there a performance difference in these two practices: Store the return value of a function in a temporary variable than give that variable as a parameter to another function. Put the function into the other function. Specification Assuming all classes and functions are written correctly. Case 1. ClassA a = function1(); ClassB b = function2(a); function3(b); Case 2. function3(function2(function1())); I know there aren't a big difference with only one run, but supposed that we could run this a lot of times in a loop, I created some tests. Test #include <iostream> #include <ctime> #include <math.h> using namespace std; int main() { clock_t start = clock(); clock_t ends = clock(); // Case 1. start = clock(); for (int i=0; i<10000000; i++) { double a = cos(1); double b = pow(a, 2); sqrt(b); } ends = clock(); cout << (double) (ends - start) / CLOCKS_PER_SEC << endl; // Case 2. start = clock(); for (int i=0; i<10000000; i++) sqrt(pow(cos(1),2)); ends = clock(); cout << (double) (ends - start) / CLOCKS_PER_SEC << endl; return 0; } Results Case 1 = 6.375 Case 2 = 0.031 Why is the first one is much slower, and if the second one is faster why dont we always write code that way? Anyway does the second pratice has a name? I also wondered what happens if I create the variables outside the for loop in the first case, but the result was the same. Why?

    Having this script use DateTime; use DateTime::Format::Strptime; my $p = DateTime::Format::Strptime->new(pattern => '%F %T', time_zone => 'local'); my $dt1 = DateTime->now(time_zone=>'local')->set_time_zone('UTC'); my $dt2 = $p->parse_datetime('2010-10-23 14:10:02')->set_time_zone('UTC'); print Dumper($dt1->hms); print Dumper($dt2->hms); print Dumper($dt1 > $dt2); The problem is that $dt1 is off by 1 hour. Like $VAR1 = '12:09:55'; $VAR1 = '11:10:02'; $VAR1 = 1; If I remove set_time_zone('UTC') in both cases - dumped values are okay. My feel is that somewhere DST is taken into account unnecessarily, but can't find out. Update: I dumped $dt-time_zone-name and $dt-offset for both and that's what i get. $VAR1 = 'Europe/Kiev'; $VAR1 = 7200; $VAR1 = 'Europe/Kiev'; $VAR1 = 10800; How this could be possible?

    In Javascript, I sometimes want to return a value from a scope that isn't the current function. It might be a block of code within the function, or it might be an enclosing function as in the following example, which uses a local function to recursively search for something. As soon as it finds a solution, the search is done and the whole thing should just return. Unfortunately, I can't think of a simpler way to do this than by hacking try/catch for the purpose: function solve(searchSpace) { var search = function (stuff) { solution = isItSolved(stuff); if (solution) { throw solution; } else { search(narrowThisWay(stuff)); search(narrowThatWay(stuff)); }; }; try { return search(searchSpace); } catch (solution) { return solution; }; }; I realize one could assign the solution to a local variable and then check it before making another recursive call, but my question is specifically about transfer of control. Is there a better way than the above? Perhaps involving label/break?

    Good day, I have a local csv file with values that change daily called DailyValues.csv I need to extract the value field of category2 and category4. Then combine, sort and remove duplicates (if any) from the extracted values. Then save it to a new local file NewValues.txt. Is this simply the objc equivalent of a #define that's limited to the method's scope? I (think) I understand the static nature of the variable, but more specifically about NSStrings, why isn't it being alloc'd, init'd? Thanks~

    I'm looking for tips on how to seamlessly integrate subversion and git, for deploying web sites by a small team of web developers. We each have our own development versions of our sites on our local machines. We also have dev, staging, and live servers. As our team has grown, we haven't updated our revision control and deployment strategies accordingly. We had all been checking into the trunk of a shared Subversion repository. Both the dev & staging servers ran from a checkout of the trunk, so updating them involved running "svn update" while the live server ran as an export from trunk which required an "svn export" to get the latest code. In either case, we would often update just certain files by updating or exporting just those files or directories. That worked okay when there was just one or two developers. However, a big downside was that we couldn't point to an individual tag that represented what was currently on live at any given time. In keeping with corporate policy, we'd like to continue to use Subversion to store what we're now calling our "production branch," which will be what goes onto staging and live. However, we would like to use Git on our local and development sites. We especially like the idea of easier merges and being able to "cherry pick" updates that need to go live. We had initially planned on using git-svn, but it doesn't seem to work well in a shared environment such as our dev or staging servers. Anyone else doing something like this? What's the best way to make it work? Or are we making it more difficult than it should be?
