• Hide script extension

  I have a html form that posts to a python script test.py. If someone tries to access the script directly, it redirects them to the form. I not using a web framework, just straight python cgi programming. My website is hosted on a shared hosting provider that allows me access to a .htaccess file. I wanted to know if there was a way to have the form post to the script and in the address bar show mydomain.com/test/ and not mydomain.com/test.py ? Thanks.

• Running mongod as a windows service

  Hello, i have installed mongodb on win32 and i am trying to run it as a service. I have followed the instructions posted here: http://www.deltasdevelopers.com/post/Running-MongoDB-as-a-Windows-Service.aspx but when when windows tries to 'load'/'run' the service there is a problem. I see the service under the services control banner constantly in the 'starting' state. The result: the service is not started and windows is constantly trying to start it without success. The instructions i have followed are: At the command line C:\mongodb\mongod -install then C:\mongodb\mongod -service Then i modified the Win Registry Entry for the MongoDB Service by setting the ImagePath key to the value of C:\mongodb\mongodb.exe -service Any advice? What am i doing wrong?

  I'm trying to submit a form on an .asp page but Mechanize does not recognize the name of the control. The form code is: <form id="form1" name="frmSearchQuick" method="post"> .... <input type="button" name="btSearchTop" value="SEARCH" class="buttonctl" onClick="uf_Browse('dledir_search_quick.asp');" > My code is as follows: br = mechanize.Browser() br.open(BASE_URL) br.select_form(name='frmSearchQuick') resp = br.click(name='btSearchTop') I've also tried the last line as: resp = br.submit(name='btSearchTop') The error I get is: raise ControlNotFoundError("no control matching "+description) ControlNotFoundError: no control matching name 'btSearchTop', kind 'clickable' If I print br I get this: IgnoreControl(btSearchTop=) But I don't see that anywhere in the HTML. Any advice on how to submit this form?

  Hello all. I'm trying to populate a page with X entries from my tumblr feed, and I'm wondering how I can only pull that X number from the JSON object it returns.   Wordpress provides a function called "the_permalink()" that returns, you guessed it!, the permalink to a given post while in a loop of posts. • List getting cleared every button click inside Update Panel?

The list is a global variable, and on page_load I set that to the gridview's datasource and databind it. However, anytime I click the 'add a user' button, or the button to remove the user from the list. It appears like it is doing a full post back even though all these elements are inside the update Panel. So if that's the case, why is it calling page_load everytime I click the buttons? I ran this code and debug and I see that even before any of the code associated with button press fires, page_load runs again. I tried putting the gvAssociatedUser.Datasource = associatedFaculty and the line below inside the Page.IsPostBack check, that prevented the page from working. I tried every combination of settings of the update panel for ChildrenAsTriggers and UpdateMode, and none of them worked. I know this is something simple, but all the combinations I've tried won't get it to work. How can I make this thing work? Edited: It wasn't causing a full postback so I was wrong as to the cause. I thought the page was doing a full post back thus resetting my associatedFaculty list global variable, but it isn't doing a full postback. The issue I am having is everytime I click btnAddUser it will add one element to the associatedFaculty list and thus bound to gvAssociatedusers. This works the first time, but the second time I click it, it overwrites the first element. So it appears like my associatedFaculty list is getting reset each time I click the button?

  We have all seen things like the typing system of JavaScript (There is a funny post including a truth table somewhere around here). I consider this one of the main things that makes a programming language bad. Other things that spring to mind: Bad Error messages (Either obfuscated so you can't figure out whats wrong, not existing or simply too long and red) The language wasn't planned and just grew uncontrolled in all directions (PHP?) The language encourages bad programm(er/ing) habits such as: Global variables everywhere, bad variable names Inconsistent naming conventions inside the language I can't come up with any more at the moment and would be very happy to read what you think about this. What shouldn't be missing in a language created to be as bad (from the perspectives of the programmer, the company that hires to programmer, the team leader and the customer) as possible? (I ask this because I'm designing a bad, experimental language at the moment)

What are the pros and the cons of primitives in interfaces? In other words, is one of these preferable to the other and why?   Hi I am using Ajaxy Call to load the partial view. It is working fine in Firefox and IE without in Debug Mode. • Cocos2D, UIScrollView, and initial placement of a scene

  Hello: I am using a UIScrollView to forward touches to Cocos2D as outlined in http://getsetgames.com/2009/08/21/cocos2d-and-uiscrollview/ Everything works great after a few days of working with it, except one thing: when the initial view appears on the screen, the background appears to be scrolled to the center. As soon as I try to scroll around, the image jumps to 0,0, and everything works as normal, except the touches are offset by half the width and height of the background image. Am I overlooking something basic? I can't think of a useful portion of the code that illustrates the issue, as I can't track it down, but would be happy to post code if anyone has any ideas.   Hello, I've created a UIDatePicker in my app and I also have support for several languages. My UIDatePicker is created in Interface Builder, and I have created a seperate localization XIB so I can customize my UIDatePicker. Setting the "Locale" option in IB appears to do nothing. Attempting to change my DatePicker programatically with Locale and NSCalender also do nothing via the following code: NSLocale * locale = [[NSLocale alloc] initWithLocaleIdentifier:@"es_ES"]; datePicker.locale = locale; datePicker.calender = [locale objectForKey:NSLocaleCalender]; This results in an english picker. Here's the really weird thing though. The word for "Today" is translated. As seen in the attached screenshot. (OK I'm not allowed to post images. • Bluray Burner in Java - Where to start?

  Like the subject of this post suggests, I am looking at developing a suite like nero which helps burn bluray discs. I am kind of clueless as to where to start. Is there anything in Java API that lets you do this? If I were to start from scratch, would I need to start with the bluray disc spec? Are there any open source tools which are already doing this? I tried searching at sourceforge.net and found nothing useful. Any help is much appreciated.

I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form. • Cocoa NSStatusBar Global HotKey

  I have created an NSStatusBar cocoa application which sits in the system status bar. I want to assign a hotkey so that when pressed it toggles my applications and show the menu. Is this possible?, In my searching and experimenting I have found a few different ways of assigning global hot keys that can be pressed when your application is in the background but I can't find any way to problematically make the menu show. Is this possible?, If anyone thinks a way of assigning a global hotkey is best please post it. Thanks.   After searching a lot i did not get any answers and finally i had to get back to you. Below i am explaining my problem in detail. It's too long, so please don't quit reading. I have explained my problem in simple language. I have been developing an asp.net mvc project. I am using standard ASP.NET roles and membership. Everything is working fine but the remember me functionality doesn't work at all. I am listing all the details of work. Hope you guys can help me out solve this problem. I simply need this: I need user to login to web application. During login they can either login with remember me or without it. If user logs in with remember me, i want browser to remember them for long time, let's say atleast one year or considerably long time. The way they do it in www.dotnetspider.com,www.codeproject.com,www.daniweb.com and many other sites. If user logs in without remember me, then browser should allow access to website for some 20 -30 minutes and after that their session should expire. Their session should also expire when user logs in and shuts down the browser without logging out. Note: I have succesfully implemented above functionality without using standard asp.net roles and membership by creating my own talbes for user and authenticating against my database table, setting cookie and sessions in my other projects. But for this project we starting from the beginning used standard asp.net roles and membership. We thought it will work and after everything was build at the time of testing it just didn't work. and now we cannot replace the existing functionality with standard asp.net roles and membership with my own custom user tables and all the stuff, you understand what i am taling about. Either there is some kind of bug with standard asp.net roles and membership functionality or i have the whole concept of standard asp.net roles and membership wrong. i have stated what i want above. I think it's very simple and reasonable. What i did Login form with username,password and remember me field. My setting in web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" timeout="2880"/> </authentication> in My controller action, i have this: FormsAuth.SignIn(userName, rememberMe); public void SignIn(string userName, bool createPersistentCookie) { FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, createPersistentCookie); } Now the problems are following: I have already stated in above section "I simply need this". user can successfully log in to the system. Their session exists for as much minutes as specified in timeout value in web.config. I have also given a sample of my web.config. In my samplem if i set the timeout to 5 minutes,then user session expires after 5 minutes, that's ok. But if user closes the browser and reopen the browser, user can still enter the website without loggin in untill time specified in "timeout" has not passed out. The sliding expiration for timeout value is also working fine. Now if user logs in to the system with remember me checked, user session still expires after 5 minutes. This is not good behaviour, is it?. I mean to say that if user logs in to the system with remember me checked he should be remembered for a long time untill he doesn't logs out of the system or user doesn't manually deletes all the cookies from the browser. If user logs in to the system without remember me checked his session should expire after the timeout period values specified in web.config and also if users closes the browser. The problem is that if user closes the browser and reopens it he can still enter the website without logging in. I search internet a lot on this topic, but i could not get the solution. The users are complaining about the same thing in their comments ut there is no easy solution given in by Mr. Scott. About 3 years ago I read this joke about haskell: All the haskell programmers in the world can fit into a 747 and if that plane were to crash no one would care... or something along those lines. Which brings me to my question: is haskell "mainstream"? Is it mainly used by hobbiest and academics or someone making some serious money from it (which is the true yardstick of how good a language is - just kidding, geez!)?

I reckon the field "appId" is meant for this, but this field is empty in the response.

• Ajax call from Bookmarklet

  I am trying to create a bookmarklet that, upon clicking, would request some information from the user (a url and a couple other fields in this case) and then send that data to a php page on my server and then display the result. I would like to do an Ajax call for this so that I don't actually redirect to the new page, just get the data but I assume I would run into the "Same Origin Policy" limitation of Ajax.... is there any known way of basically doing the same thing? Also, what would be the best way to pass the parameters? I already have a mechanism in place to recieve the parameters as a post message from a form...is there any way I could just reuse this?
