• PHP: Safe way to store decryptable passwords

  I'm making an application in PHP and there is a requirement that it must be possible to decrypt the passwords in order to avoid problems in the future with switching user database to different system. What encryption/decryption algorithm would you suggest? Is it good idea to just store the encrypted value and then compare the future authentication attempts to that value? Are the passwords still as safe as MD5/SHA1 when the private key is not available to the attacker (Hidden in USB drive for example)? I should still use salting, right? What encryption libraries should I use for PHP?

  I am using SQLite as my db during development, and I want to postpone actually creating a final database until my domains are fully mapped.   Hi all, I am making a iphone program, I wish that: it can sense and display the current signals of wifi, with strength, - as I checked, this cannot be done by official SDK, but there were some private library that can handle. 2. i wish it can always automatically join the best wifi with the most highest strength ( assume that all wifi APs have no password, and all are not remembered into the used-list inside iphone), which is something like "seamless handover"... • Winforms StatusStrip - why are there periods where it is blank when I'm updating it???

  Hi, BACKGROUND: I have a WindowForms v3.5 application with a StatusStrip set to be used as a TooStripStatusLabel. I'm issues quite a lot of updates to it during a task that is running, however there are noticable periods where it is BLANK. There are no points when I am writing a blank to the status strip label either. QUESTION: Any ideas why I would be seeing period where the status strip label is blank, when I don't expect it to be? The problem I'm having is when and how to apply this. There are three potitional spots in my opinion. • How can I know if a file has been changed in .NET C#?

  I have an application that requires a secure way to store its configuration. There are users that can change the configuration. I need some sort of signature scheme where I can verify that the config file has not changed with out a valid user. I had thought about using RSA, where the private key is encrypted with the users password, and the public key is used to sign the config. However there is nothing to prevent someone from changing the user file and adding their own public key, thus circumventing my security. Any ideas?

  I'd like to move my project to GitHub from local svn repository. Multiple developers are curently working on this project. I was thinking that each developer should have their own branch in which they would commit changes. When manager review their work, he will merge it into master branch. I don't want separate repository for each developer as GitHub has limited number of private repositories. Is this a good idea? What are other alternatives?

• How can I change my code in Excel 2003 to allow me to paste to multiple cells?

  Ran in to a little problem. If I try to paste to multiple cells that are in the range in the code below, I get a run time error 13, type mismatch. The cells in the range may have data other than X but I only want the hyperlink to appear if the cell contains X. It works fine if I just type an X in the cell or if I paste to one cell at a time. I will have times when I want to paste other text to mutiple cells in this range. Thanks to Remnant for his help on the original code. This one last hurdle will put me in the clear. Thx.   Hi I have a immutable Customer class in my domain assembly. It contains the following GET properties : id, firstname and lastname. I have a CustomerRepository class in my persistence assembly. In turn, this CustomerRepository class should populate and return a Customer object using a remote web-serivce. My Customer class contains no setter properties and it contains a private constructor. The reason - I dont want the UI developer to get the wrong idea - He should not be able to create or change a Customer object. My question: How do I get my CustomerRepository to populate my Customer object. Reflection? Or should I sacrifice my design and enable a public constructor for constructing the customer object?

  I'm building some sort of wizard to create user accounts in Sync and Manage account. I use a ViewFlipper my activity has to be an AccountAuthenticatorActivity. That said it also means I can't inherit PreferenceActivity. So I looked up in the code of PreferenceActivity and I believe it should be possible to have a PreferenceView that inherit from ListView. The Activity part of PreferenceActivity isn't really needed as far as I know. Though the PreferenceManager is what really blocks me. private PreferenceManager onCreatePreferenceManager() { PreferenceManager preferenceManager = new PreferenceManager(this, FIRST_REQUEST_CODE); preferenceManager.setOnPreferenceTreeClickListener(this); return preferenceManager; } This function imply that we can instatiate PreferenceManager using the operator new. Apparently, the sdk hide the constructor of the PreferenceManager. I'm kind of confused. Is there a way to inflate my preferences and display them without PreferenceActivity?

  Is this the proper way to use a static const variable? In my top level class (Shape) #ifndef SHAPE_H #define SHAPE_H class Shape { public: static const double pi; private: double originX; double originY; }; const double Shape::pi = 3.14159265; #endif And then later in a class that extends Shape, I use Shape::pi. I get a linker error. I moved the const double Shape::pi = 3.14... to the Shape.cpp file and my program then compiles. Why does that happen? thanks.
