  • How to speed up dumping a DataTable into an Excel worksheet?

    - by AngryHacker
    I have the following routine that dumps a DataTable into an Excel worksheet. private void RenderDataTableOnXlSheet(DataTable dt, Excel.Worksheet xlWk, string [] columnNames, string [] fieldNames) { // render the column names (e.g. headers) for (int i = 0; i < columnNames.Length; i++) xlWk.Cells[1, i + 1] = columnNames[i]; // render the data for (int i = 0; i < fieldNames.Length; i++) { for (int j = 0; j < dt.Rows.Count; j++) { xlWk.Cells[j + 2, i + 1] = dt.Rows[j][fieldNames[i]].ToString(); } } } For whatever reason, dumping DataTable of 25 columns and 400 rows takes about 10-15 seconds on my relatively modern PC. Takes even longer testers' machines. Is there anything I can do to speed up this code? Or is interop just inherently slow?

    I realize that, in my certain customer side, when I use the font provided by Graphics2D itself, and decrease the size by 1, it cannot display properly. private void drawInformationBox(Graphics2D g2, JXLayer<? extends V> layer) { if (MainFrame.getInstance().getJStockOptions().getYellowInformationBoxOption() == JStockOptions.YellowInformationBoxOption.Hide) { return; } final Font oldFont = g2.getFont(); final Font paramFont = new Font(oldFont.getFontName(), oldFont.getStyle(), oldFont.getSize()); final FontMetrics paramFontMetrics = g2.getFontMetrics(paramFont); final Font valueFont = new Font(oldFont.getFontName(), oldFont.getStyle() | Font.BOLD, oldFont.getSize() + 1); final FontMetrics valueFontMetrics = g2.getFontMetrics(valueFont); /* * This date font cannot be displayed properly. Why? */ final Font dateFont = new Font(oldFont.getFontName(), oldFont.getStyle(), oldFont.getSize() - 1); final FontMetrics dateFontMetrics = g2.getFontMetrics(dateFont); Rest of the font is OK. Here is the screen shoot (See the yellow box. There are 3 type of different font within the yellow box) :

  • How to find the right object in a Rails controller based on two variables?

    - by sscirrus
    Hi everyone, I have a three-table system: Companies, Customers, and Matches. The matches include, for example, private notes that each party makes about the other and some options they can set regarding the other. I have two sets of views centered around Companies and Customers for each party to look at the other and modify their notes and settings. # Customers Controller def show @customer = Customer.find(params[:customer]) @matchings = @candidate.matchings.find... @company = Company.find(params[:company]) end Obviously the @matchings is incomplete. Given that @matchings has fields customer_id and company_id, how do I find the right matching record? Thank you!

  • Where does memory dynamically allocated reside?

    - by Summer_More_More_Tea
    Hello everyone: We know that malloc() and new operation allocate memory from heap dynamically, but where does heap reside? Does each process have its own private heap in the namespace for dynamic allocation or the OS have a global one shared by all the processes. What's more, I read from a textbook that once memory leak occurs, the missing memory cannot be reused until next time we restart our computer. Is this thesis right? If the answer is yes, how can we explain it? Thanks for your reply. Regards.

  • Is It Safe to Cast Away volatile?

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    Most of the time, I am doing this way. class a { public: ~ a() { i = 100; // OK delete (int *)j; // Compiler happy. But, is it safe? // Error : delete j; } private: volatile int i; volatile int *j; }; int main() { a aa; } However, I saw an article here: https://www.securecoding.cert.org/confluence/display/seccode/EXP32-C.+Do+not+access+a+volatile+object+through+a+non-volatile+reference Casting away volatile allows access to an object through a non-volatile reference. This can result in undefined and perhaps unintended program behavior. So, what will be the workaround for my above code example?

  • Create an seo and web accessibility analyzer

    - by rebellion
    I'm thinking of making a little web tool for analyzing the search engine optimization and web accessiblity of a whole website. First of all, this is just a private tool for now. Crawling a whole website takes up alot of resources and time. I've found out that wget is the best option for downloading the markup for a whole site. I plan on using PHP/MySQL (maybe even CodeIgniter), but I'm not quite sure if that's the right way to do it. There's always someone who recommends Python, Ruby or Perl. I only know PHP and a little bit Rails. I've also found a great HTML DOM parser class in PHP on SourceForge. But, the thing is, I need some feedback on what I should and should not do. Everything from how I should make the crawl process to what I should be checking for in regards to SEO and WCAG. So, what comes to your mind when you hear this?

  • Get Item from Collection by unique ID

    - by David Murdoch
    I have a collection of Contacts that inherits from CollectionBase: public class ContactCollection : CollectionBase{ //... } each contact in the collection has a unique ID: public class Contact{ public int ContactID{ get; private set; } //... } I think what I would like to do is something like the following: // get the contact by their unique [Contact]ID Contact myPerson = Contact.GetContactById(15); // get all contacts for the customer ContactCollection contacts = customer.GetContacts(); // replaces the contact in the collection with the // myPerson contact with the same ContactID. contacts.ReplaceAt(myPerson); // saves the changes to the contacts and the customer // customer.Save(); There is probably a better way...if so, please suggest it.

  • MSMQ empty object on message body

    - by Owen
    Ok, so I'm very VERY new to MSMQ and I'm already confused. I have created a private queue and added a few messages to it, all good so far. BUT when I retrieve the messages back from the queue the message body contains a empty object of the type I added. By this I don't mean that the body is null, it does have a reference to a type of the object that I added, but it's not instantiated so all the properties are in their null or default state. This is the code I use to add to the queue: using (var mQueue = new MessageQueue(QueueName)) { var msg = new Message(observation) { Priority = MessagePriority.Normal, UseJournalQueue = true, AcknowledgeType = AcknowledgeTypes.FullReceive, }; mQueue.Send(msg); } And this is the code that dequeues the messages: using (var mQueue = new MessageQueue(QueueName)) { mQueue.MessageReadPropertyFilter.SetAll(); ((XmlMessageFormatter)mQueue.Formatter).TargetTypes = new[] { typeof(Observation) }; var msg = mQueue.Receive(new TimeSpan(0, 0, 5)); var observation = (Observation)msg.Body; return observation; }

  • Retrieving a page of that has a redirect

    - by Dmitry Makovetskiyd
    I get my page content with this function: private function fetch_url($url){ $ch=curl_init($url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 320); $this->doc = curl_exec($ch); $this->status_code= curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE); // echo $this->doc; curl_close($ch); } The problem is that with some urls dont exist on a webpage and there is a redirect to another page.. So say if I put the parameter: http://example.com/uncategorized/ It redirect me to : http://example.com/mature/ The problem is with curl, I dont get any content.. But my aim is to get the content of that page redirect.. Is there an easy way to get the function to work in the way I want..?

    In my database I have a form for searching products (fields : id, name, manufacturer_id[set to display manufacturer's name], category_id, price). I would like to have the ability of adding manufacturers through this form. So I've created vba script but it does not work. Private Sub manufacturer_id_NotInTheList(NewData As String, Response As Integer) Dim strSQL As String, strInfo As String strInfo = "Manufacturer " & NewData & " is not on the list." & vbCrLf & "Add?" If MsgBox(strInfo, vbYesNo + vbQuestion, "Element not on the list") = vbYes Then strSQL = "INSERT INTO manufacturer (name, country, id_distributor) VALUES ('" & NewData & "','Undefined', '0');" DoCmd.SetWarnings (False) DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL Response = acDataErrAdded Else Response = acDataErrContinue NewData = "" Me.manufacturer_id.Text = "" End If End Sub

  • Twisted Spread: How to authenticate each RPC with digital signature

    - by kronat
    I have remote objects which talk each others with RPCs, using Twisted Spread. I want that objects authenticate messages, before using them, with digital signatures, but I don't know where to start to implement this. In my head, the Root object must have a public/private key pair, and the Client too. When a message is sent, a digital signature of the hash is added, and when it is received, the signature is checked. Is the Protocol part where I need to add these adds and checks? Thank you

  • DataGridView and the CellEndEdit Event

    - by Brandon
    I have a DataGridView, and would like to hook into the CellEndEdit event. I've been able to successfully hook into the CellContentClick event, but am having issues with CellEndEdit. I added the following code to my Form1.cs file: private void dataGridView1_CellEndEdit(object sender, DataGridViewCellCancelEventArgs e) { dataGridView1[0, 0].Value = "Changed"; } With that code, nothing happens when I am done editing a cell. Is there anything else that I need to do to successfully hook into this event? I see that CellContentClick has a this.dataGridView1.CellContentClick += new System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventHandler(this.dataGridView1_CellContentClick); line of code in the Form1.Designer.cs file, but I tried to mimic this for CellEndEdit, and received a compile error (No overload for 'dataGridView1_CellEndEdit' matches delegate 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventHandler')

  • Getting ListView values into a string array?

    - by Andrew
    I have a ListView control set up in details mode, and on a button press I would like to retrieve all column values from that row in the ListView. This is my code so far: Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim items As ListView.SelectedListViewItemCollection = _ Me.ManageList.SelectedItems Dim item As ListViewItem Dim values(0 To 4) As String Dim i As Integer = 0 For Each item In items values(i) = item.SubItems(1).Text i = i + 1 Next End Sub But values just comes out as an empty array. Any ideas? I just want the values array to be filled with the data of that ListView row. Cheers.

  • Casting as Interface? Awesome.

    - by cam
    I was just experimenting around with one of my programs, trying to make it looks prettier and I found something interesting. I have an interface that 4 classes inherit from. I found that if I pass the Class as an object to a method like so: ClassTest classtest = new ClassTest(); DoOperation(classtest); private void DoOperation(object o) { ((InterfaceClass)o).DoThis(); } So I can pass any type of class that inherits from InterfaceClass, and it will preform the proper interface operation? This is the coolest thing I've ever found from OOP (something I've never really studied) I really thought interfaces were created for the sole purpose of organization for developers. Are there more uses for interfaces than this?

Can you please tell me how to copy the treeview nodes to treenodecollection and keep the copies of the nodes even after calling Clear method of actual tree view nodes? TreeNodeCollection tnc = null; private TypeIn() { tnc = treeView1.Nodes; treeView1.Nodes.Clear(); //Now my tnc becomes null, but I want the tnc for future use. }

  • WPF InotifyPropertyChanged and view models

    - by Joel Barsotti
    So I think I'm doing something pretty basic. I know why this doesn't work, but it seems like there should be a straight foward way to make it work. code: private string fooImageRoot; // .... public BitmapImage FooImage { get { URI imageURI = new URI(Path.Combine(fooImageRoot, CurrentFooTypes.FooObject.FooImageName)); return imageURI; } } So CurrentFOoTypes and FooObject also supports INotifyPropertyChanged. So If I bind a TextBlock to CurrentFooTypes.FooObject.FooImageName, if either fooObject or FooImageName change the textblock updates. How can I subscribe my viewmodel object to recieve updates in a similiar fasion.

  • Clean way in GWT/Java to wait for multiple asynchronous events to finish

    - by gerdemb
    What is the best way to wait for multiple asynchronous callback functions to finish in Java before continuing. Specifically I'm using GWT with AsyncCallback, but I think this is a generic problem. Here's what I have now, but surely there is cleaner way... AjaxLoader.loadApi("books", "0", new Runnable(){ public void run() { bookAPIAvailable = true; ready(); }}, null); AjaxLoader.loadApi("search", "1", new Runnable(){ public void run() { searchAPIAvailable = true; ready(); }}, null); loginService.login(GWT.getHostPageBaseURL(), new AsyncCallback<LoginInfo>() { public void onSuccess(LoginInfo result) { appLoaded = true; ready(); } }); private void ready() { if(bookAPIAvailable && searchAPIAvailable && appLoaded) { // Everything loaded } }

  • Howto check if a object is connected to another in hibernate

    - by codevourer
    Imagine two domain object classes, A and B. A has a bidirectional one-to-many relationship to B. A is related to thousands of B. The relations must be unique, it's not possible to have a duplicate. To check if an instance of B is already connected to a given instance of A, we could perform an easy INNER JOIN but this will only ensure the already persisted relations. What about the current transient relations? class A { @OneToMany private List<B> listOfB; } If we access the listOfB and perform a check of contains() this will fetch all the connected instances of B lazy from the datasource. I only want to validate them by their primary-key. Is there an easy solution where I can do things like "Does this instance of A is connected with this instance of B?" Without loading all these data into memory and perform a based on collections?

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  • Starting a browser from a textbox via Intent - Is http:// required?

However, when I try something like "www.google.com" it crashes with: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=www.google.com } Am I using Uri wrong? Is there a way to extract full address from it? Or am I supposed to write code that adds http manually? e.g, if not starts with http://, add http://. Thanks!
