  • How to stop the Google Update background tool?

    On my Windows Vista PC, there is always an instance of "GoogleUpdate.exe" running. I find this annoying, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't start automatically. This proves to be not so easy, as I have tried these solutions: I disabled the "Google updateservice" service I removed the registry section "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Google Update" None of these worked. The registry section is simply re-added. Does anyone know the trick to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe to be started after booting the system?

    Windows 7 could be better at this, it tells everything about the computer CPU but only the Memory amount Microsoft should add information about DDR type, speed and maybe CL as well. While this never happens, What's the best and easy way to check the installed memory so we can buy and upgrade it? I was thinking a simple software so I don't need to install the full SiSoft Sandra for example, just looking for something small, only for the memory part.

For those from the fairer OS: how much memory does the operating system take up? how much memory does Google Chrome, with 10-15 tabs open, probably a Youtube, Gmail, Docs among them, usually take up?     Im using Microsoft SBS 2011 esentials to allow some of my users to remote into there work machines when they try they get and error that says that the rd gateway can not be trusted I looked up the error on google and confirmed that i need to install the ssl cert on the local machine but the instructions given are for sbs 2011 standard (website here ) but the path given is not in sbs essentials so where can i find the " Install Certificate Package.zip " file in essentials?

    OS:WinXP Say I got some files in Chinese and some files in Korean. And in windows 'Region and Language Options', I set language for non-unicode program = Chinese. Is there any way that I can read some Korean text file in text editor easily without using Microsoft Word? I need an environment that can support multiple unicode easily, I need to read Chinese, Japanese, Korean in text editor (Ultraeditor, notepad++) and terminal clients like SecureCRT.   • Deletion of SQL Profiler Trace files (.trc)

    We've noticed a lot of .trc files in our SQL data folder (\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data) on our server. The date range for these files spans over one day and the total file size of all files together is about 21 gigs. I'd like to free up this space but I'm not sure if I can just delete the files manually through Windows Explorer or if I need to do anything in SQL, like run a command or script. Any ideas?

While I've been digging, I can't seem to work out where exactly the shortcuts to windows modern UI apps are stored. With my classic desktop applications they are in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. The modern UI stuff dosen't turn up though. Where are the shortcuts to the modern UI apps stored so that the start screen can find them?

    Hi all, In my office we are using mailer-denom server and microsoft outlook for email correspondings, my director gets all the email that are sending from the office by everyone to every client. But the problem is if my dupty manager is sending a mail to anyone director will get two copies of the same message because in certain cases the dupty manager has to keep the directors email address in CC option. So is it possible to my director to get the single copy of same message? Kindly help me out in this regard.

    I've just installed IE9 on my workstations and Server in our network. According to technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg699401.aspx There is a GPO setting for IE9 called "Configure Tracking Protection Lists" located at Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Privacy in the admistrative templates. I can find all the other IE9 settings in the GPO, but I cannot find this one. Does anyone know if there is an updated template, or if this setting was removed from the RC version of IE9?   • Sysinternal's Process Explorer v14 doesn't show network activity

    The new version of Process Explorer shows network activity history, but it doesn't in one of my computers. This particular PC runs Windows XP SP3 and it has just been reformatted so everything is "fresh". I have even installed WinPCap and Microsoft Network monitor, in case some of these drivers were necessary, but the graph stays in 0. Any ideas why this could happen? I would ask in Sysinternal's forum, but I really don't want to register in yet another forum.

  • Solver Add-in not loading correctly

    When I try to open solver from inside excel 2010, I get the error message: "Solver: An unexpected internal error occurred, or available memory was exhausted." The only way I have been able to get Solver to work is by going to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library\SOLVER\", and just opening the file called "SOLVER.xlam". If I open excel through that file, the program works fine. Is there a way to solve this issue?
