    Hi folks, I have a query that takes too long to respond when the search parameter happens to be a varchar datatype with date. However, if i convert varchar to datetime variable, the query runs fine. For ex: This takes too long. select count(id) from names where updateddate '1/5/2010' This runs fine. declare @dateparam datetime set @dateparam = convert(datetime, '1/5/2010',102) select count(id) from names where updateddate @dateparam What's the reason one runs fine but the other doesn't?   • Creating notes on facebook through FBConnect in iPhone application

    Hi All, I have tried FBConnect for iPhone and am able to create/manage sessions and upload pictures successfully. What I can't sort out is, how to create and edit notes. The Facebook documentation says that notes.create query takes three arguments:title, content and uid. It seems I am unable to form the right request for the required query. Please help me on this.     I am trying to do versioning with NHibernate and everything works fine, however right after the insert NHibernate tries to pull the generated timestamp by executing the following query: SELECT profileloc_.Updated as Updated14_ FROM profile_locale profileloc_ WHERE profileloc_.id=?p0 and profileloc_.culture=?p1;?p0 = 16, ?p1 = 1033 Which is totally wrong, as it will pull out all versions starting with the first one. How do I make it add ORDER BY Updated DESC to this query? I am using Fluent NHibernate for mappings.

The problem is updating them. What I have been doing so far is simply deleting all checkbox entries for the project and then re-inserting all the values into the database. This is bad because 1. It's slow and horrible. 2. I lose all my meta data of when the check boxes were checked. So I guess my question is, how do I update only the checkboxes that have been changed? Thanks, Tim

If so my query looks like this: "q.alt=search*&hl=on" When I use the above query, highlighting doesn't work, and all the scores are "1.0". What am I doing wrong? is what I want possible without bypassing some of the really cool SOLR optimizations. cheers!

To illustrate, if I run this section of code, I only get NULL's: $mysqli = new mysqli_wrapper; $stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT cfg_key, cfg_value FROM config"); $stmt->execute(); $stmt->bind_result($cfg_key, $cfg_value); while ($stmt->fetch()) { var_dump($cfg_key); var_dump($cfg_value); } $stmt->close(); I also get a nice error from PHP which tells me: PHP Warning: Parameter 1 to mysqli_stmt::bind_result() expected to be a reference, value given in test.php on line 48 I've tried to overload the bind_param() function, but I can't figure out how to get a variable number of arguments by reference. func_get_args() doesn't seem to be able to help either. If I pass the variables by reference as in $stmt->bind_result(&$cfg_key, &$cfg_value) it should work, but this is deprecated behaviour and throws more errors. Does anyone have some ideas around this?     Hi all. This questions doesn't let me sleep as it's since one year I'm trying to find a solution but... still nothing happened in my mind. Probably you can help me, because I think this is a very common issue. I've a n-layered application: presentation layer, business logic layer, model layer. Suppose for simplicity that my application contains, in the presentation layer, a form that allows a user to search for a customer. Now the user fills the filters through the UI and clicks a button. Something happens and the request arrives to presentation layer to a method like CustomerSearch(CustomerFilter myFilter). This business logic layer now keeps it simple: creates a query on the model and gets back results. Now the question: how do you face the problem of loading data? I mean business logic layer doesn't know that that particular method will be invoked just by that form. So I think that it doesn't know if the requesting form needs just the Customer objects back or the Customer objects with the linked Order entities. I try to explain better: our form just wants to list Customers searching by surname. It has nothing to do with orders. So the business logic query will be something like: (from c in ctx.CustomerSet where c.Name.Contains(strQry) select c).ToList(); now this is working correctly. Two days later your boss asks you to add a form that let you search for customers like the other and you need to show the total count of orders created by each customer. Now I'd like to reuse that query and add the piece of logic that attach (includes) orders and gets back that. How would you front this request? Here is the best (I think) idea I had since now. I'd like to hear from you: my CustomerSearch method in BLL doesn't create the query directly but passes through private extension methods that compose the ObjectQuery like: private ObjectQuery<Customer> SearchCustomers(this ObjectQuery<Customer> qry, CustomerFilter myFilter) and private ObjectQuery<Customer> IncludeOrders(this ObjectQuery<Customer> qry) but this doesn't convince me as it seems too complex. Also, i would like to bring one issue in front of stackoverflow developers :- This site doesn't properly work in Opera (Opera 9.63). Whenever i write question and click "Post Your question" The button click event doesn't fire at all, may be, the server side event doesn't fire or something. However, no such problem comes in IE and firefox.

    Using Forms Authentication in ASP.NET MVC when trying to log back into a site, it puts a ReturnUrl parameter in the query string. My Logon action method accepts a "returnUrl" string. However it seems that returnUrl string is always null, even when it is clearly in the query string. Any thoughts on why this might be the case or a possible fix?

    Good day, I am using CacheFilter to filter a certain path to my server (which outputs an image stream to the response stream). And I've configured it in my web.xml as follows: <filter> <filter-name>imagesCache</filter-name> <filter-class>com.samaxes.cachefilter.presentation.CacheFilter</filter-class> <init-param> <param-name>privacy</param-name> <param-value>public</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>expirationTime</param-name> <param-value>2592000</param-value> </init-param> </filter> ... <filter-mapping> <filter-name>imagesCache</filter-name> <url-pattern>/my/path/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> Using my firefox, if I access my url via the address bar, it hits the server the first time but uses the cache during succeeding calls. However, if the url is inside my page ( i.e. <img src="..."/> ), it seems to hit the server all the time. [EDIT] After a few more testing, accessing my image via the address bar does not work all the time. But caching does seem to work more often with it than . As to whether it really, I am not sure. Additional Info: my path is something like /my/path?then=some&query=strings. Notice that it doesn't have an extension (i.e. gif, png, jpeg ) but it's mimetype is set properly ( image/gif, image/png, image/jpeg ). I am not sure if the lack of extension or the presence of the query strings have any impact. (Also, another note. though my url have query strings, I am using the same uri + query string over and over again with my tests). Any ideas why? Thanks
