  I have the following table - $sql = "CREATE TABLE received_queries ( sender_screen_name varchar(50), text varchar(150) )"; I use the following SQL statement to store values in the table $sql = "INSERT INTO received_queries VALUES ('$sender_screen_name', '$text')"; Now I am trying to store the following string as 'text'. One more #haiku: Cotton wool in mind; feeling like a sleep won't cure; I need some coffee. and I get the following error message Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 't cure; I need some coffee.')' at line 1 I think must be a pretty common problem.   I am debugging a project and Visual Studio stops debugging and closes the program on the following line with no exceptions or error messages (I have enabled notifications for any thrown exceptions in options): var query = Session.Linq<RSS>() .Where(x => x.LastRetrieved <= date || x.LastRetrieved == null) .Where(x => x.Moderated); Where Session.Linq refers to LINQ2NHibernate. Anyway, the question is: what are the possible reasons for such behavior? Tested both on VS 2010 and 2008 - they behave identically just falling out of debugging.

I've found out that AFTER is a valid keyword but I don't think it's the right one for the job. ALTER TABLE [dbo].[InvStockStatus] ADD [Abbreviation] [nvarchar](32) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL ; This is my current query, which works well, except it adds the field at the end of the Table, Id prefer to add it after [Name].   Foo has Title. Bar references Foo. I have a collection with Bars. I need a collection with Foo.Title. If i have 10 bars in collection, i'll call db 10 times. bars.Select(x=x.Foo.Title) At the moment this (using NHibernate Linq and i don't want to drop it) retrieves Bar collection. var q = from b in Session.Linq<Bar>() where ... select b; I read what Ayende says about this. Another related question. A bit of documentation. And another related blog post. Maybe this can help? What about this? Maybe MultiQuery is what i need? :/ But i still can't 'compile' this in proper solution. How to avoid select n+1?

  iOS 4: I have entities in Core Data (using SQLite, which is a requirement) of: Request Response (which has a property personId) Revision Relationships are: Request <-- Revision Request <-- Response Revision <-- Response (e.g. each request may have many responses; each request/response pair may have many revisions) I'm trying to do a predicate to get all Responses with a given personId that have zero Revisions. Using: (personId == %d) && (Request.Revision[SIZE] == 0) in my predicate string gives me a runtime exception "Unsupported function expression Request.Revision[SIZE]" The documentation seems pretty sparse on aggregate functions, only noting that they exist, but with no syntax or examples. Not sure if it's my syntax or if the SIZE function really isn't supported in iOS.

  I would like to create a domain specific language as an augmented-C++ language. I will need mostly two types of contructs: Top-level constructs for specialized types or declarations In-code constructs, i.e. to add primitives to make functions calls or idiom easier The language will be used for scientific computing purposes, and will ultimately be translated into plain C++. C++ has been chosen as it seems to offer a good compromise between: ease of use, efficiency and availability of a wide range of libraries. A previous attempt using flex and bison failed due to the complexity of the C++ syntax. The existing parser can still fail on some constructs. So we want to start over, but on better bases. Do you know about similar projects? And if you attempted to do so, what tools would you use? What would be the main pitfalls? Would you have recommendations in term of syntax?

  I've just installed Memcached on my Mac and updated my Sinatra app configuration as described in Heroku's documentation, but I'm getting a NoMethodError when trying to use the hash-based syntax they specify: >> CACHE['color'] = 'blue' >> CACHE['color'] Using explicit get and set methods as below seems to work fine. >> CACHE.set('color', 'blue') >> CACHE.get('color') If necessary I can use the latter syntax, but the former seems more elegant. I try to achieve this: I have column(nvarchar) with this: for ex.row1. 1;3;4;5,row2. 3;4;6 row3. 7;8;16 etc. I have list(of string) with 1,6. My goal is to get row1 and row2 in result set. • How can I declare constant strings for use in both an unmanaged C++ dll and in a C# application?

  Curently I'm passing my const string values up from my C++ into my C# at startup via a callback, but I'm wondering if there's a way of defining them in a C++ header file that I can then also refer to in C#. I already do this with enums as they are easy. I include a file in both my C++ library project (via a .h file with a pragma once at the top), and my C# application (as a link): #if _NET public #endif enum ETestData { First, Second }; I know it sounds messy, but it works :) But...how can I do the same with string constants - I'm initially thinking the syntax is too different between the platforms, but maybe there's a way? Using clever syntax involving #if _NET, #defines etc? Using resource files? Using a C++/CLI library? Any ideas?

• Subversion Copy Hook on Windows

  Hi I am working on a web based project in my free time. I have SVN set up on my machine (running XP). What I would like to do is have a copy of my repository copied to the htdocs folder (Dev machine) post-commit via a hook. That way I can test my changes in a browser. I know that I can write up a .bat file, but I'm not sure what the syntax would be. I can do a basic DOS Copy command, but I saw one example that provided a username and password to SVN at copy time. Do I need to do this? Can someone point me in the right direction as far a syntax for the .bat file? Or maybe even suggest a better method. Thanks
