• Eclipse hangs while opening workspace after upgrading to GWT 2.0/Google app engine 1.2.8

  After upgrading to the newest GWT/Google app engine I have problems opening my workspace in Eclipse. On startup, Eclipse hangs almost immediately and needs to be closed. This happens only in the workspace where I use GWT with app engine, and I weren't able to consistently reproduce it - sometimes it starts normally, and sometimes I need to kill the proces and restart it. There is nothing in Eclipse error log. Eclipse version is Galileo, running on Windows 7 RC. Anyone else had similar problems? I googled but Google is not my friend today. EDIT: Still happens after upgrading to GWT 2.0.1.

• Why PartCover report shows 0% when mstest runs successfully and all tests pass

  Hello, I'm trying to get code coverage with mstest tests. I'm using PartCover 2.2.0.36424. The problem is with real assemblies, I get 0% code coverage (Note: All tests pass). On demo test for demo source that I created, it worked fine (the report makes sense). I noticed that in log file: for demo files, after line "Assembly AAAAAA loaded (MyTestesAssemblyName)", there is line "Class NNNNNN loaded (MyTestesAssemblyName.MyClassname)"; and for the real files ther is no second line (for class) after the line for assembly. Have any ideas what is different in our assemblies? (Note: they are not signed) 10x.

• C# Delegate Invoke Required Issue

  Scenario I have a C# windows forms application that has a number of processes. These processes run on separate threads and all communicate back to the Main Form class with updates to a log window and a progress bar. I'm using the following code below, which up until now has worked fine, however, I have a few questions. Occasionally I get OutofMemory Exceptions and the program always seems to crash around this bit of code......

• ASP.Net MVC ReturnUrl Practice

  I have a question about the returnUrl querystring parameter that is appended by ASP.Net when attempted to hit a page that requires authentication. In looking at Microsoft NerdDinner Sample's LogOn action (along with every other 'sample authentication code' I see on the 'net), it just has the ReturnUrl parameter declared in the action's signature and uses it directly in a Redirect() call. However, back in the WebForms days and using Membership Controls, we use to use the FormsAuthentication.GetReturnUrl() call. Besides returning the 'default url' if no url was specified in the querystring, it also does a few security checks (Cross App Redirect and 'IsDangerousUrl()'). Are those no longer a concern or are all the sample 'log on' actions I'm seeing all over the 'net just ignoring those issues?

• Navigate between screens in WPF

  This should be a very basic design question, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be well documented (maybe due to its simplicity?). If I'm building a dashboard application in WPF that brig up different CRM tasks and I want to navigate between screens, is this the best way to do this, or is there a better way?   Hello all, I 'm relatively new to git and and having some problems early on. I've made several commits, but when I try to push them I get a response that says everything is up-to-date. I feel like my problem is the same on listed in this question, but it recommends the following: $ git log -1 # note the SHA-1 of latest commit $ git checkout master # reset your branch head to your previously detached commit $ git reset --hard <commit-id> What exactly will "checking out the master" do? • Google Search api for Android systems

  Hi, I'm trying to build an android app that would do a local search on google. I know there is a Google Search API for Java, and I am able to use it for a desktop application. However, when I use the same jar file (gsearch.jar) in my android project, Some problems arise. When I call the .localSearch() method of my gsearch.Client object, a runtime error is occurring. The error message is: "java.lang.VerifyError: gsearch.Client". This message is occurring in the Dalvik Debug Monitor log. So what is the problem here? Can I not use the search API on the android? More importantly, how do I do a local search from an android app? Does the android sdk have search APIs inbuilt? I could only find the Maps api, and Map search is not what I'm looking for.. • Binding to NSTextField Cell not working, edited value resets to default

  I'm working on a Core Data document application that dynamically creates NSTableColumns. The data cell type may be a checkbox, slider, etc. Programmatically binding to all cell types works, except for NSTextFieldCell. All NSTextFieldCells fail to bind, and after editing they return to their default value. This happens no matter if they're binding to a string, a number (with an NSNumberFormatter applied), or a date (NSDateFormatter applied). I'm using the following format to do all bindings: NSDictionary *textFieldOpts = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"YES", NSContinuouslyUpdatesValueBindingOption, @"YES", NSValidatesImmediatelyBindingOption, nil]; [aCell bind:@"value" toObject:[[entryAC arrangedObjects] objectAtIndex:0] withKeyPath:@"numberData" options:textFieldOpts]; Again, these statements work if the cell type is anything but an NSTextFieldCell. I threw in an observeValueForKeyPath method to log when the value changes... and for other cell types (NSSliderCell for instance) I can see the value changing, but with the NSTextFieldCell, it never, ever updates. • jface.preference.FileFieldEditor can't specify a new file

  I'm setting up a series of preferences in my Eclipse (3.5.2) application and I'm having a problem with the FileFieldEditor. I want to allow the user to specify a log file to print output to. Often, this will be a new file. But when I use the file select dialog with FileFieldEditor, it complains that the file doesn't exists ("Value must be an existing file"). Is there a way, without extending the FileFieldEditor class, to suppress this error and have Java create that file if it doesn't exist? Thanks!

• Undefined Results in jQuery Autocomplete

  So I've got the latest versions of jQuery and UI running. I'm using the basic autocomplete invocation and returning valid JSON (validated via JSONLint). $("input#cust_id").autocomplete({ source: yoda.app.base + "/assets/cfc/util/autocomplete.cfc?method=cust", minLength: 2, select: function(event, ui) { log(ui.item ? • luntbuild + maven + findbugs = OutOfMemoryException

  Hi, I've been trying to get Luntbuild to generate and publish a project site for our project including a Findbugs report. All other reports (Cobertura, Surefire, JavaDoc, Dashboard) work fine, but Findbugs bails out with an OutOfMemoryException. Excluding findbugs from report generation fixes the build --- although obviously without a Findbugs report. The funny thing is that I first encountered this problem locally and solved it by setting MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx512m. This does not seem to be enough in Luntbuild, however: setting that exact same option as an environment variable of my builder doesn't make a difference. I've found a couple of posts on the 'net stating you should also add -XX:MaxPermSize=512m to MAVEN_OPTS and/or pass -Dmaven.findbugs.jvmargs=-Xmx512m to mvn.bat. None of these (or their combination) seem to help though so any hints would be greatly appreciated! • ASP.NET authentication login and logout with browser back button

  Hi, I am looking for a solution for user use the browser's back button to navigate to previous page once logged out. I have a web application build in asp.net and using a custom membership provider for authentication and authorization. Everything works fine except when the user click on the logout link to log out of the application and being redirect to a default cover page, if the use click on the BACK BUTTON on their browser, it will actually go back to where they were before and the data will still show up. Of course they can't do anything on that page, click on anything link they will be redirect to a login page again. But having those information display is making a lot users confused. i am just wondering if there is any way i can either clear the browser's history so use can't go BACK, or when they click on the back button and have them redirect to the login page. thanks

  Hi, I installed SQL Server 2008 on a Win XP SP2 workstation in a AD domain and configured to run with the "Network Service" account. In my error log I have the following message (Event ID:26037): The SQL Server Network Interface library could not register the Service Principal Name (SPN) for the SQL Server service. **Error: 0xd, state: 13**. Failure to register an SPN may cause integrated authentication to fall back to NTLM instead of Kerberos. This is an informational message. Further action is only required if Kerberos authentication is required by authentication policies. The strange thing is that I have another SQL Server 2008 installation in a Win 2003 server configured in the same way and there I do not have this message. My questions are: Does anybody know if there are limitations with Kerberos on Windows XP and SQL Server? Why the SPN is not automatically registered on Win XP when I use the "Network Service" but it works on Windows 2003 server? THANKS!

  Hi: I'm having a problem using the UITabBarController and can't seem to get anywhere... maybe someone has run into something similar. I have the typical Tab Bar + Navigation app and everything is working great, except when I access options in the More tab. • Downloading file with ASIHTTPRequest - iPhone app

  Hi I am using the ASIHTTPRequest source code to download a file from a remote location. Surprisingly, the download happens but nothing happens after that. I have put in a log statement in the handleBytesAvailable method and can see the entire file worth of data is downloaded in parts and added to the fileDownloadOutputStream variable. But once all the bytes have been downloaded, nothing happens. The delegate methods are not called (neither fail, nor success). Can someone please tell me what is happening? Or what is the correct way to download a file from a remote server using ASIHTTPRequest? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm using Windows 7 Professional (x64) and having installed .NET 4.0 RTM on my machine. Since 2 days I'm noticing that every WPF application that I'm trying to run hangs and becomes non responsive (a not responding text is appended to it's title bar) and it's painted white. There is no info regarding any exception, no error message. Nothing. Even the Event Log shows that there was "application hang" event (code 1002) and nothing more. This problem is for everything that is written in WPF, even for products like NHibernate Profiler and other stuff that I was using on a regular basis without any issues. Tried to reinstall .NET 4.0 and nothing changed. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  We have deployed a java webapplication in Elastic Beanstalk with the minimum instance count 1 and max instance count 2 for Autoscaling. The custom AMI we are using is c1.medium with Sun JDK 6. The environment status changed to yellow and then red. After checking into the log file from the snapshot logs we found a exception - Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Assuming this could be one of the possible reason for the Environment failure. The settings that we have configured in the Environment Container option are Initial JVM Heap Size (MB) - 256M Maximum JVM Heap Size (MB) - 512m The maximum heap size the java virtual machine will ever consume, specified on the JVM launch command line using -Xmx. Maximum JVM Permanent Generation Size (MB) - 512m Should i increase the Heap size from 512m to more or is it fine.

  Hello I'm using a RichFaces <rich:insert like this: <rich:panel header="my head"> <a4j:outputPanel ajaxRendered="true"> <rich:insert src="#{MyBacking.myPath}" highlight="groovy" /> </a4j:outputPanel> </rich:panel> If I have a 60k file to output, it takes 23 seconds. I've got a requirement to output the contents of some larger files than that and obviously the larger the file, the larger the wait for content. The recommendation in the answer to another related question is to introduce paging. I will, but the question is, why does it take so long to output 60k of text using JSF/RichFaces? That is, reading off a local disk with Windows XP SP2 PC - I can see from the log the data has already been written to disk from the network. Other scripting languages appear to be faster than this - is it something to do with the JSF lifecycle having to handle the text maybe? Thanks

• applet does not load

  We have a legacy program that was ported from Java 1.3 to Java 1.5. This application involves applets which worked fine before. After porting however, the applet would not load. However there are no errors or exceptions. The app would just try to load it forever. We tried to run it with Java 1.6 and poof! No problems whatsoever. Isn't Java 6 backwards compatible? Still haven't figured out why it works with java6 and not java5. @valli: the object tag was used, not applet @thorbjorn: i tried that already... it just keeps saying loading applet... @aaron: how can i know what exception it is, if there really is one? and yes we have considered that its a java bug but i still havent found what that bug is. i have to submit a report tomorrow and i've scoured the net but came up with nothing as of yet... @all: thank you for your replies

• Exceptions using CruiseControl.NET

  I recently updated to CC.NET 1.5 and I'm now getting some strange exceptions. On one project I get: - ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: svn: Can't create a character converter from native encoding to 'UTF-8' This happens when CC is checking a subversion repository for any mods. If I run the actual command line CC says is failing it works and returns an empty XML (there are no mods). Some other projects also fail to check mods with another "Source control operation failed" exception but no further info. Again the command is an "svn log" which when run from command line works ok. I'm using subversion 1.4.5 client side and my source repository exists on a separate box than my build server. Anyone got any ideas?
