  • Colorizing as SAS Map

    - by user601828
    I'm trying to generate a map in SAS where I would like to to make gradual color changes which correspond to my results. So the higher the counts the more intense the color changes. Also I would like to add state labels to the map. Here is my code, so far it produces a white map with varying degress of blue blocks. I'd like the states colored in intense colors, like red, bright pink,brilliant, blues and greens. Can anyone please help me modify the code to add state labels and colorize the map, and below the map add a table summarizing the statistics, like counts and percentages. Thanks in advance. goptions gunit=pct cback=white htitle=4 htext=3 colors=(PAGY LIY STY DEGY dark_yellow very_dark_yellow ) ; title "My Map Results"; proc gmap map=maps.us data=My_data all; id state; block person_per_event/levels=6; choro person_per_event/levels=6; run; quit; I looked at his page before for example if I wanted to make a map like this one http://robslink.com/SAS/democd61/election_2012.htm with my data. I tried modifying the code that he gives on the link, but wasnt very successful. I would like to use that map along with the state labels and keep the colors and represent my data with blocks in the corresponding locations with city and state, and high level counts. The rest of the summary statistics I would like to summarize in a colorful table next to the map, like a dashboard of sorts. Appreciate any help in advance. Thanks, -rachel

  • JavaScript: supposed to execute functions sequentially, not actually doing so?

    - by AP257
    I'm seeing a lot of answers on StackOverflow that say that JavaScript executes code sequentially, but I can actually see my own JavaScript not doing so. From the following code: function centre_map(lat, lng, zoom_level) { alert('centre_map'); map = new GMap2(document.getElementById('map_canvas')); var latlng = new GLatLng(lat, lng); map.setCenter(latlng, zoom_level); } function add_markers_within_bounds() { alert('add_markers_within_bounds'); // add numerous BLUE markers within map bounds using MarkerClusterer } function add_marker(lat, lng, place_name, grid, county) { alert('add_marker'); // add one ordinary RED Google Maps marker } centre_map('{{lat}}', '{{lng}}', 12); add_markers_within_bounds('{{grid}}', '{{place_name}}'); add_marker('{{lat}}', '{{lng}}', '{{place_name}}', '{{grid}}', '{{county}}'); I get the following sequence of events: 'centre_map' alert 'add_markers_within_bounds' alert 'add_marker' alert individual RED marker appears on map (i.e. add_marker renders) multiple BLUE markers appear on map (i.e. add_markers_within_bounds renders) Why doesn't add_markers_within_bounds complete before add_marker gets under way: and how can I make it do so? I know that one way might be to call add_marker from within add_markers_within_bounds, but for various reasons I'd rather keep it as a separate function.

  • Virtual Earth Shape Rendering Performance

    - by Mike
    I am overlaying a transparent image on my VEMap control by rendering it as a single VEShape. The shape changes sizes dynamically depeding on the zoom level of my map and can be as large as 4000*4000px. In older browsers such as IE6 and early versions of Firefox 2.x, map control performance degrades rapidly when my shape gets larger than 1500*1500px. The mouse pointer moves slowly and the map responds very slowly to events. I don't see this issue at all in newer browsers (IE7+). Are there any workarounds to boost performance of rendering a large shape for IE6 users?

  • Bings Search API always returns the same 10 results

    - by Dofs
    I am trying to figure Bings Seach API out. I have added the SOAP service to my solution, and I do receive results. The issue, is that the displayed results are always the same, not matter what I have set the request.Web to. When I do the search, it displays 98 results, so it isn't the lack of results. BingService soapClient = new BingService(); string resp = string.Empty; SearchRequest request = new SearchRequest(); request.AppId = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["BingKey"]; request.Sources = new BingLiveSearchService.SourceType[] { SourceType.Web }; request.Query = query; request.Web = new BingLiveSearchService.WebRequest { Count = 10, Offset = 10 }; var response = soapClient.Search(request); if (response.Web != null && response.Web.Total > 0) { resp += "TOTAL COUNT:"+response.Web.Total +"<br/><br />"; foreach (var item in response.Web.Results) { resp += "<div style='padding-bottom:10px;'>" + item.Title + "</div>"; } }

  • Why do Scala maps have poor performance relative to Java?

    - by Mike Hanafey
    I am working on a Scala app that consumes large amounts of CPU time, so performance matters. The prototype of the system was written in Python, and performance was unacceptable. The application does a lot with inserting and manipulating data in maps. Rex Kerr's Thyme was used to look at the performance of updating and retrieving data from maps. Basically "n" random Ints were stored in maps, and retrieved from the maps, with the time relative to java.util.HashMap used as a reference. The full results for a range of "n" are here. Sample (n=100,000) performance relative to java, smaller is worse: Update Read Mutable 16.06% 76.51% Immutable 31.30% 20.68% I do not understand why the scala immutable map beats the scala mutable map in update performance. Using the sizeHint on the mutable map does not help (it appears to be ignored in the tested implementation, 2.10.3). Even more surprisingly the immutable read performance is worse than the mutable read performance, more significantly so with larger maps. The update performance of the scala mutable map is surprisingly bad, relative to both scala immutable and plain Java. What is the explanation?

  • Why does the infobox in my MSN Map not close?

    - by meder
    I'm having a bit of trouble with this map, invoked by the "View our interactive map" button in the middle of the content area. If you double click a point such as 8 which causes a zoom and then afterwards it causes the info box to appear, the hide logic is wrong. If you try to close the x, it will fail. This is probably because the user clicked too fast and the map thinks its in zoom mode when infact it should be in info box mode. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Looks like I have to mess around with window.ero.hide and some other functions.. because map.HideInfoBox doesn't hide the map. EDIT: The script used is here. I did not code it, but the relevant bit has: onclick="EnableEroHide();map.HideInfoBox();changePin();return false;" The map.HideInfoBox() should hide the info box.

  • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

    - by Carter
    My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it? Recently updated documentation on Apple dev site... http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#featuredarticles/iPhoneURLScheme_Reference/Articles/MapLinks.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40007894-SW1 Both these links go to the same place http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York http://maps.apple.com/maps?q=New+York

  • What is the proper way to wrap this php loop around the javascript

    - by zac
    Hi, I am mashing together the Google Maps 2 script with a Wordpress loop so there is a CMS platform for the map data. I have this working fine : var point = new GLatLng(48.5139,-123.150531); var marker = createMarker(point,"Lime Kiln State Park", '<?php $post_id = 182; $my_post = get_post($post_id); $mapTitle = $my_post->post_title; $mapIMG = get_post_meta($post_id, 'mapImage', true); $snip = get_post_meta($post_id, 'mapExcerpt', true); echo "<div class=\"span-12\">"; echo "<div class=\"mapTitle\">"; echo $mapTitle; echo "</div>"; echo "<img class=\"mapImage\" src=\""; echo bloginfo('url'); echo "/wp-content/files_mf/"; echo $mapIMG; echo "\" /> "; echo "<div class=\"mapContent\">"; echo $snip; echo "</div>"; echo "<div class=\"moreLink\">"; echo "<a href=\""; echo $permalink = get_permalink( $post_id ); echo "\">Find out more &raquo; </a>"; echo "</div>"; echo "</div>"; ?>') map.addOverlay(marker); However I am hoping to also be able to include the two variables at the start within the php loop so that both of those can also be generated by custom fields. Can someone please show me that the proper way to write this would be so that all of the data can be pulled in from fields within that post id? So the lat/long and title could also be set from within the post 182 fields.

  • Application stopped unexpectedly at launch

    I've run this on a device and on the emulator. The app stops unexpectedly on both. I have not a clue what is wrong currently. It uses Google API Maps I compiled with Google Api 7. I followed this tutorial http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html (made some alterations clearly) I did use the correct API Key That the final apk is signed with This is the source(If you compile it shouldn't work as it is unsigned) This is the compiled signed apk Log 03-21 00:30:38.912: INFO/ActivityManager(54): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN flg=0x10000000 cmp=com.chris.stryker.worldly/.com.poppoob.WorldlyMap } 03-21 00:30:39.173: INFO/ActivityManager(54): Start proc com.chris.stryker.worldly for activity com.chris.stryker.worldly/.com.poppoob.WorldlyMap: pid=287 uid=10031 gids={3003, 1015} 03-21 00:30:39.532: DEBUG/ddm-heap(287): Got feature list request 03-21 00:30:40.185: WARN/dalvikvm(287): Unable to resolve superclass of Lcom/chris/stryker/worldly/com/poppoob/WorldlyMap; (17) 03-21 00:30:40.193: WARN/dalvikvm(287): Link of class 'Lcom/chris/stryker/worldly/com/poppoob/WorldlyMap;' failed 03-21 00:30:40.205: DEBUG/AndroidRuntime(287): Shutting down VM 03-21 00:30:40.223: WARN/dalvikvm(287): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b188) 03-21 00:30:40.223: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate activity ComponentInfo{com.chris.stryker.worldly/com.chris.stryker.worldly.com.poppoob.WorldlyMap}: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.chris.stryker.worldly.com.poppoob.WorldlyMap in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader@45a13938 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2417) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2512) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2200(ActivityThread.java:119) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1863) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.chris.stryker.worldly.com.poppoob.WorldlyMap in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader@45a13938 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at dalvik.system.PathClassLoader.findClass(PathClassLoader.java:243) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:573) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:532) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.Instrumentation.newActivity(Instrumentation.java:1021) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2409) 03-21 00:30:40.252: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(287): ... 11 more 03-21 00:30:40.300: INFO/Process(54): Sending signal. One is that when I click (do a tap) on any location, the overlay is not changing to that place. Also, the app crashes when I am on the MapView page and I click on back button. What might be the error?

  • Process: Unable to start service com.google.android.gms.checkin.CheckinService with Intent

    - by AndyRoid
    I'm trying to build a Google map application but keep receiving this in my LogCat. I have all the permissions and meta-data set in my manifest, but am still dumbfounded by this error. Have looked everywhere on SO for this specific error but found nothing relating to com.google.android.gms.checkin A little bit about my structural hierarchy. MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity with three tabs underneath actionbar. Each tab has it's own fragment. On the gMapFragment I create a GPSTrack object from my GPSTrack class which extends Service and implements LocationListener. The problem is that when I start the application I get this message: I have all my libraries imported properly and I even added the google-play-services.jar into my libs folder. I also installed Google Play Services APKs through CMD onto my emulator. Furthermore the LocationManager lm = = (LocationManager) mContext.getSystemService(LOCATION_SERVICE); in my GPSTrack class always returns null. Why is this and how can I fix these issues? Would appreciate an explanation along with solution too, I want to understand what's going on here. ============== Code: gMapFragment.java public class gMapFragment extends SupportMapFragment { private final String TAG = "gMapFragment"; • Recommended method towards making custom maps for a 2d game?

    - by Qasim
    I am planning on making a 2D game, however different from my last personal projects I want this one to have enhanced graphics, with custom-designed levels. My previous 2d platformers were tile-based, in which I made a map editor for to create levels. However, I am wondering the best way to implement custom designed maps? For say, some grass is a litter higher than others, flowers here and there, cool drawings and structures along the way, etc. instead of just the same old tiles over and over again. I am thinking but I just can't grasp the idea of how to implement it. I have seen it done in other games and am interested to see how they accomplish it, but can't get my hands on some source code. :(

  • 2d, Top-down map with different levels

    - by Ktash
    So, I'm creating a 2d, top down, sprite based (tiled) game, and right now I'm working on maps (well, a map editor at the moment, but it will be creating my maps, so basically the same thing). The scenario So, I'm thinking about efficiency and creating a map in pieces. In each piece, I plan on having 'layers'. Basically, I plan on rendering it down to a 'below hero' level, and an 'above hero' level, with the hero rendered in between obviously. There will likely also be a 'on level with hero' layer, but I'm not quite there yet. Not even worrying about events or interaction yet. Just looking to get a hero on the screen. Now for movement, I obviously need to know what tiles can be moved and in what direction. My plan at the moment is each tile getting 8 bits (4 'can enter in direction' bits, 4 'can leave in direction'). This will allow me to limit movement and even allow one way directional movement. The dilemma This works great for a lot of scenarios. It will allow me to store a map in essentially 3 layers, a string, and gives me flexibility going forward. However, I can't create maps that themselves have layers. A good example is a bridge where the user can go under or over the bridge without invalid moves being allowed. I can't create a platform and allow movement underneath. These are things I would like to be able to include in my game. My idea In theory, I could allow multiple hero layers and then allow multiple sets of 'below' and 'above' layers (or sandwich layers). But this complicates my system, and makes movement between maps potentially tricky (If the hero is on the third layer at the edge of a map, but that corresponds to the second layer on the other map, how can I allow or disallow movement). My question Is there a better way to manage multiple maps with multiple levels like this where a users level may be 'connected' on different levels on different maps? Or even... Am I doing this the hard way? Is there a more standard way to handle top-down 2d tiled maps that I am just not aware of? Things to note or that might be helpful This will be done in Javascript (transferred around in JSON) State will need to be transferred quickly, so a map-id and x/y/direction should be enough to get me a boolean 'can move' value Maps will not be standard sized (though they will be in a certain number of tiles) Making an editor tool so that I can have others help, so something that I can create in a tool would be helpful 'Teleportation' locations will likely need to exist to get into building maps and to and from different map sets (which will not necessarily be connected), but have not been created yet (lumping in with events at the moment).

  • Show certain InfoWindow in Google Map API V3

    - by pash
    Hello. I wrote the following code to display markers. There are 2 buttons which show Next or Previous Infowindow for markers. But problem is that InfoWindows are not shown using google.maps.event.trigger Can someone help me with this problem. Thank you. • How does the new google maps make buildings and cityscapes 3D?

    - by Aerovistae
    Anyone who's seen the new Google maps has no doubt taken note of the incredible amount of three-dimensional detail in select American cities such as Boston, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. They've even modeled the trees, bridges and some of the boats in the harbor! Minor architectural details are present. It's crazy. Looking at it up close, I've found there's a rectangular area around each of those cities, and anything within them is 3Dified, but it cuts off hard and fast at the edge, even if it's in the middle of a building. The edge of the rectangle is where the 3D stops. This leads me to think it's being done algorithmically (which would make sense, given the scale of the project, how many trees and buildings and details there are), and yet I can't imagine how that's possible. How could an algorithm model all these things without extensive data on their shapes and contours? How could it model the individual wires of a bridge, or the statues in a park? It must be done by hand, and yet how could it be for so much detail! Does anyone have any insight on this?

  • using BOOST_FOREACH with std::map

    - by kmote
    I'd like to iterate over a std::map using BOOST_FOREACH and edit the values. I can't quite get it. typedef std::pair<int, int> IdSizePair_t; std::map<int,int> mmap; mmap[1] = 1; mmap[2] = 2; mmap[3] = 3; BOOST_FOREACH( IdSizePair_t i, mmap ) i.second++; // mmap should contain {2,3,4} here Of course this doesn't change anything because I'm not iterating by reference. So I substitute this line instead (as per the example in the Boost docs): BOOST_FOREACH( IdSizePair_t &i, mmap ) and I get the compiler error: error C2440: 'initializing' : cannot convert from 'std::pair<_Ty1,_Ty2>' to 'IdSizePair_t &' with [ _Ty1=const int, _Ty2=int ] Any suggestions?

  • Android mapView ItemizedOverlay setFocus does not work properly

    - by Gaks
    Calling setFocus(null) on the ItemizedOverlay does not 'unfocus' current marker. According to the documentation: ... If the Item is not found, this is a no-op. You can also pass null to remove focus. Here's my code: MapItemizedOverlay public class MapItemizedOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay<OverlayItem> { private ArrayList<OverlayItem> items = new ArrayList<OverlayItem>(); public MapItemizedOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker) { super(defaultMarker); } public void addOverlay(OverlayItem overlay) { items.add(overlay); populate(); } @Override protected OverlayItem createItem(int i) { return items.get(i); } @Override public int size() { return items.size(); } } Creating map overlay and one marker: StateListDrawable youIcon = (StateListDrawable)getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.marker_icon); int width = youIcon.getIntrinsicWidth(); int height = youIcon.getIntrinsicHeight(); youIcon.setBounds(-13, 0-height, -13+width, 0); GeoPoint location = new GeoPoint(40800816,-74122009); MapItemizedOverlay overlay = new MapItemizedOverlay(youIcon); OverlayItem item = new OverlayItem(location, "title", "snippet"); overlay.addOverlay(item); mapView.getOverlays().add(overlay); The R.drawable.marker_icon is defined as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/marker_selected" /> <item android:state_selected="true" android:drawable="@drawable/marker_selected" /> <item android:drawable="@drawable/marker_normal" /> </selector> Now, to test the setFocus() behavior I put the button on the activity window, with the following onClick listener: Button focusBtn = (Button)findViewById(R.id.focusbtn); focusBtn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { for(Overlay ov : mapView.getOverlays()) { if(ov.getClass().getSimpleName().equals("MapItemizedOverlay") == true) { MapItemizedOverlay miv = (MapItemizedOverlay)ov; if(miv.getFocus() == null) miv.setFocus(miv.getItem(0)); else miv.setFocus(null); break; } } mapView.invalidate(); } }); The expected behavior is: clicking on the button toggles marker selection. It works only once - clicking it for the first time selects the marker, clicking it again does not de-select the marker. The most weird thing about it is that after calling setFocus(null), getFocus() also returns null - like the overlay has no focused item (I debugged it). But even after calling mapView.invalidate() the marker is still drawn in 'selected'(focused) state.
