  • Detect double-tap on UISlider?

    I can detect single/double-taps in specific views with: NSSet *myTouches = [event touchesForView:mySpecificView.view]; but I want to detect a double-tap on the button of a slider and can't find any reference to it. Is there a replacement for "touchesForView:" where I can enter the name of my slider? usage: I have three sliders with their default value being directly in the center of the slider. Once the position of the slider has changed, I want a quick way to individually reset each slider to its default position. I currently have each slider's containing view set to respond to a double-tap, updating each slider. It works fine, but doesn't seem natural. ie.I can't double-tap on the slider itself because the slider intercepts the taps and doesn't pass them on to the surrounding view. thanks in advance

  • How to detect time on a playing Flash video

    Hi I have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second. I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that). Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site? I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3. Is it possible to do it from JavaScript level or does any video sharing website out there provides this kind of functionality for their videos?

  • Detect if an assembly is available

    I'm implementing an installer in Java, that is supposed to download and install an application for non-privileged users in Windows (from XP and up). The application is written in C++, and depend on the usual VC runtime-libraries (msvcm90.dll and friends). In order to save bandwidth, I want to avoid downloading the VC redistributables if they already are available for the user. I do however have a problem finding a reliable method to detect if an assembly is installed. If the assembly is missing, I will deploy it as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235291%28VS.80%29.aspx So the question is simply how to detect if a (any) assembly is installed on the machine. It's no requirement that this can be done from Java. I can easily write a small probe in C++ and link it statically for the task. jgaa

    Given a set of strings, for example: EFgreen EFgrey EntireS1 EntireS2 J27RedP1 J27GreenP1 J27RedP2 J27GreenP2 JournalP1Black JournalP1Blue JournalP1Green JournalP1Red JournalP2Black JournalP2Blue JournalP2Green I want to be able to detect that these are three sets of files: EntireS[1,2] J27[Red,Green]P[1,2] JournalP[1,2][Red,Green,Blue] Are there any known ways of approaching this problem - any published papers I can read on this? The approach I am considering is for each string look at all other strings and find the common characters and where differing characters are, trying to find sets of strings that have the most in common, but I fear that this is not very efficient and may give false positives. Note that this is not the same as 'How do I detect groups of common strings in filenames' because that assumes that a string will always have a series of digits following it.   • Why does max-width behave counter intuitively on columns in a table? [migrated]

    Basically, I have a stretchy table, I want my label column to be fixed width and my data column to be dynamically sized. My inclination would be to set the max-width via CSS on my label column. However, this has the opposite effect. I've created a jsfiddle that replicates this. (Re-size the window to see the left column dynamically sized and the right column fixed size) On my own site, I see the same behavior and it happens in IE and Chrome. If I switch it, and set max-width on the data column, everything behaves as I want, but it feels backwards to me. Am I doing something wrong here?

    player.vx = scroll_speed * dt /* Update positions */ player.x += player.vx player.y += player.vy I have a delta time in miliseconds, and I was wondering how I can use it properly. I tried the above, but that makes the player go fast when the computer is fast, and the player go slow when the computer is slow. The same thing happens with jumping. The player can jump really high when the computer is faster. This is sort of unfair, I think, because. Should I be doing this someway else? Thanks.

  • Problem importing Firefox bookmarks to Chromium

    I would like to switch from Firefox to Chromium (it seems to be faster for my system) and I have a large number of bookmarks I would like to import into Chromium. I looked at this question: Can I sync bookmarks between Firefox and Chromium? but that seemed to be specific to Firefox Sync, which I don't have. I just want to import my bookmarks from Firefox into Chromium. However, when I go to the Customize and Control button and then choose the option Import Bookmarks and Settings under the Bookmarks menu item, it gives me this: I have Firefox and Chromium as up to date as the official repositories (I believe), so I really have no clue what is going on. I have attempted to import directly from HTML, but it only imports the first set of bookmarks, nothing beyond that (where all of the bookmarks I really want are.) Can I import the JSON Firefox backup file into Chromium, or am I stuck manually entering all of these bookmarks into Chromium? Thanks!

  • HTML Javascript Hidden Object or Photo Hunt Game

    Is anyone aware of any example photo hunt/hidden object games either in HTML and Javascript or flash if necessary? I am having trouble finding one, I may be using the wrong words to search. Photo hunt being like the wheres wally/waldo books where you look for wally in a complex image until you find him. So if it were played on screen you would press the location of wally and it would either be correct or wrong, possibly timed. I am hoping to find one where you can just load in your own photos and specify some co-ordinates that match where the hidden object is. A spot the difference example may be useful as a starting point but I haven't found an example of either that is web based yet.

  • Is there a way to use scala with html5?

    I want to create a very simple 2d multiplayer browsergame in html5. Something like Scalatron I mainly want to do this to improve my scala skills, the problem is I would have to code the clientside code in javascript and the serverside code in scala. This would result in duplicated code. Another option would be to ignore the html5 part and write it in opengl. But I would still prefer to have a html5 game. I could do this is in javascript, but then it would destroy the whole purpose of learning scala. Is there a way to use scala with html5? Or what would you recommend me to do?

  • Getting Internet Explorer to Open Different Sets of Tabs Based on the Day of the Week

    If you have to use Internet Explorer for work and need to open a different set of work-specific tabs every day, is there a quick and easy way to do it instead of opening each one individually? Today’s Question & Answer session comes to us courtesy of SuperUser—a subdivision of Stack Exchange, a community-driven grouping of Q&A web sites. The Question SuperUser reader bobSmith1432 is looking for a quick and easy way to open different daily sets of tabs in Internet Explorer for his work: When I open Internet Explorer on different days of the week, I want different tabs to be opened automatically. I have to run different reports for work each day of the week and it takes a lot of time to open the 5-10 tabs I use to run the reports. It would be a lot faster if, when I open Internet Explorer, the tabs I needed would automatically load and be ready. Is there a way to open 5-10 different tabs in Internet Explorer depending on the day of the week? Example: Monday – 6 Accounting Pages Tuesday – 7 Billing Pages Wednesday – 5 HR Pages Thursday – 10 Schedule Pages Friday – 8 Work Summary/Order Pages Is there an easier way for Bob to get all those tabs to load and be ready to go each day instead of opening them individually every time? The Answer SuperUser contributor Julian Knight has a simple, non-script solution for us: Rather than trying the brute force method, how about a work around? Open up each set of tabs either in different windows, or one set at a time, and save all tabs to bookmark folders. Put the folders on the bookmark toolbar for ease of access. Each day, right-click on the appropriate folder and click on ‘Open in tab group’ to open all the tabs. You could put all the day folders into a top-level folder to save space if you want, but at the expense of an extra click to get to them. If you really must go further, you need to write a program or script to drive Internet Explorer. The easiest way is probably writing a PowerShell script. Special Note: There are various scripts shared on the discussion page as well, so the solution shown above is just one possibility out of many.   • How to efficiently preserve a really big navigation history in Firefox?

    When I was using Mac, my Firefox stored items in its history for really long times. Sometimes I needed to find a link to a site I have seen two years ago and it found it! Also, the autocomplete in the Firefox bar is really great, so a long history and the autocompleting yield a wonderful feature to me. Unfortunately, it seems this does not happen in Ubuntu's Firefox. I looked for solutions but I just got some Firefox developers saying the option of expanding history is out for performance issues and one is well advised to not try to change it (which read to me as saying "we cannot make it work well so we limit the scope"). Anyway, my question is: is there a way of efficiently expand the size of Firefox history? Sorry for my bitterness, but a solution with strings attached (mostly say that I should not do it, like this addon) is not solution for me. Does someone have the same need of mine and found a solution?

    More than 20 million websites nowadays are running jQuery and more than 1/5 of the top million websites are also doing so. What if we, as designers and developers, could take advantage of locally cached JavaScript libraries like jQuery, Prototype, script.aculo.us, etc? Wouldn't it be great if we could provide users with faster websites and experiences? EDIT: My apologies, I ment to ask how hould it be if browsers hosted JavaScript frameworks, not support them. Actually, there's no sense in my previous question. Sorry for that.
