    Hello I'm new to C# so this might be a really dump question: I implemented IComparable in my class and want to test it with NUnit. But the CompareTo-Method is marked as private and thus not accessible from the test. What's the reason for this and how can I fix this?     I have textbox and lable in update panel witch i refresh with javascript __doPostBack(upEditReminder,id); then i set both label and textbox text to current datetime protected void upReminder_Onload(object sender, EventArgs e) { lbTest.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString(); tbReminder.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString(); Problem is that lable is updated but textbox date is updated only once when the page is loaded but not when __doPostBack(upEditReminder,id); is triggered.     I have a baseclass Event with a DateTime member TimeStamp. Lots of other event-classes will derive from this. I want to be able to search a list of events (that can contain events with duplicate timestamps) fast, so I'd like to use a binary search. So I started out writing something like this : public class EventList<T> : List<T> where T : Event { private IComparer<T> comparer = (x, y) => Comparer<DateTime>.Default.Compare(x.TimeStamp, y.TimeStamp); public IEnumerable<T> EventsBetween(DateTime inFromTime, DateTime inToTime) { // Find the index for the beginning. int index = this.BinarySearch(inFromTime, comparer); // BLAH REST OF IMPLEMENTATION } } The problem is that the BinarySearch only accepts T (so - an Event type) as parameter, while I want to search based on a member of T - the TimeStamp. What would be a good way to approach this ?

    Hello SO, I'm currently working in an MVC 2 app which has to have everything localized in n-languages (currently 2, none of them english btw). I validate my model classes with DataAnnotations but when I wanted to validate a DateTime field found out that the DataTypeAttribute returns always true, no matter it was a valid date or not (that's because when I enter a random string "foo", the IsValid() method checks against "01/01/0001 ", dont know why). Decided to write my own validator extending ValidationAtribute class: public class DateTimeAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public override bool IsValid(object value) { DateTime result; if (value.ToString().Equals("01/01/0001 0:00:00")) { return false; } return DateTime.TryParse(value.ToString(), out result); } } Now it checks OK when is valid and when it's not, but my problem starts when I try to localize it: [Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(MSG), ErrorMessageResourceName = "INS_DATA_Required")] [CustomValidation.DateTime(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(MSG), ErrorMessageResourceName = "INS_DATA_DataType")] public DateTime INS_DATA { get; set; } If I put nothing in the field I get a localized MSG (MSG being my resource class) for the key=INS_DATA_Required but if I put a bad-formatted date I get the "The value 'foo' is not valid for INS_DATA" default message and not the localized MSG. What am I misssing?

  • CakePHP Bake association problem

    I have only two tables in my database with a one-to-many relationship between them (user hasMany messages) and am trying to get basic CRUD functionality going. Bake detects the associations correctly and specifies them correctly inside the model classes, but in controllers and views it looks like Cake doesn't know anything about those associations -- I don't even get a select tag for user_id when I go add a new message. Has anyone come across this problem before? What can I be doing wrong? The value must be in the form 'yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fffZ' how to make for code generation a string Field unique. Like E-Mail or Username can exists only once in the table. I've search alot in the internet and also checked my books Pro Entity Framework 4.0 and Programming Entity Framework. But none of them seems to come up with the default value issue, or using sql commands as default values for database generation. Another thing is, how to prevent on database generation always from droping tables? Instead i want to append non existing fields and keep the data. Thanks for any suggestions.

    I have a method which should return a list of anonymous objects with a calculated column like this: var tomorrow = DateTime.Today.AddDays(1); return from t in this.Events where (t.StartTime >= DateTime.Today && t.StartTime < tomorrow && t.EndTime.HasValue) select new { Client = t.Activity.Project.Customer.Name, Project = t.Activity.Project.Name, Task = t.Activity.Task.Name, Rate = t.Activity.Rate.Name, StartTime = t.StartTime, EndTime = t.EndTime.Value, Hours = (System.Data.Objects.SqlClient.SqlFunctions.DateDiff("m", t.StartTime, t.EndTime.Value) / 60), Description = t.Activity.Description }; Unfortunately I get the following error from the DateDiff function: The specified method 'System.Nullable1[System.Int32] DateDiff(System.String, System.Nullable1[System.DateTime], System.Nullable`1[System.DateTime])' on the type 'System.Data.Objects.SqlClient.SqlFunctions' cannot be translated into a LINQ to Entities store expression. Any ideas what I could have done wrong here? EDIT: I also tried the EntityFunctions class mentioned here, but that did not work as well. Ensure PC is set to automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time. (For this timezone, daylight savings time ends at 3am on 4 Apr 2010.) 3) add following code : public void SetNewDateTime(DateTime dt) { Microsoft.VisualBasic.DateAndTime.Today = dt; // ignores time component Microsoft.VisualBasic.DateAndTime.TimeOfDay = dt; // ignores date component } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { DateTime dt = new DateTime(2010, 4, 5, 5, 0, 0); // XX SetNewDateTime(dt); // XX System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(500); DateTime dt2 = new DateTime(2010, 4, 4, 1, 0, 0); SetNewDateTime(dt2); } 4) When button 1 is clicked, the PC clock eventually shows 2am, whereas 1 am was expected.     I've never written any tests in my life, but I'd like to start writing tests for my Django projects. I've read some articles about tests and decided to try to write some tests for an extremely simple Django app or a start.     I am looking for something like TRYCAST in TSQL or an equivalent method / hack. In my case I am extracting some date data from an xml column. The following query throws "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime." if the piece of data found in the xml cannot be converted to datetime (in this specific case, the date is "0001-01-01" in some cases).   • Using PLINQ to calculate and update values within the enclosure does not work

    I recently needed to do a running total on a report. Where for each group, I order the rows and then calculate the running total based on the previous rows within the group. Aha! I thought, a perfect use case for PLINQ! However, when I wrote up the code, I got some strange behavior. The values I was modifying showed as being modified when stepping through the debugger, but when they were accessed they were always zero.     I am making a simple class that contains a StreamWrite class Logger { private StreamWriter sw; private DateTime LastTime; public Logger(string filename) { LastTime = DateTime.Now; sw = new StreamWriter(filename); } public void Write(string s) { sw.WriteLine((DateTime.Now-LastTime).Ticks/10000+":"+ s); LastTime = DateTime.Now; } public void Flush() { sw.Flush(); } ~Logger() { sw.Close();//Raises Exception! } } But when I close this StreamWriter in the destructor, it raises an exception that the StreamWriter was already deleted? Why? And how to make it work such that when the Logger class is deleted, the StreamWriter is closed before deletion? Thanks!
