  • Download lastfm tags into mp3 comment or genre tag

    for a long time I dream to have a songs lastfm tags in my music library, so I can use them to quickly generate playlists. There used to be a way to do that in amarok 1.4, but it never was stable. Than there is MusicBrainz Picard's lastfm/lastfmplus plugin. It is partially fine, but I cannot manage to make it look ONLY for the lastfm tags and put them into comments/genre/whatever but it always hast to tag everything. And it isn't particularly good with it, especially with small bands, songs without album etc. My music library is rather well organised. Most of the tags are correct. I also have quite some songs without an album. And I don't want it to find the albums for those songs, since it'd mess up my album view. So it must not touch the fields track name, track number, artist and album. All I want is that the most popular lastfm tags get into the genre or comments tag of the mp3, separated by semicolons, commas or whatever. I think I remember a script that did this job, but I cannot find. Does anybody know if there is anything like this? Would it be to hard to write this, for example as Banshee plugin? Thank you

    Combining "What is your default web browser?" and "What are the differences between Linux Window Managers", I ask you: which window manager do you use, and why? Myself I prefer a minimal window manager on the one hand (in the past I used Fluxbox), but on the other hand wish to go with the main stream, to ease finding (Googling) solutions in case of problems. Hence I stick with Gnome as it is shipped with Ubuntu. Why do you use the window manager which you use? I understand some reasons may be subjective, but please try to cite technical reasons where possible.

  • Continuously asking for partial upgrade

    I just upgraded my Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 after the announcement of the final release of Ubuntu 12.04. The upgrade process went fine. But now when I run the update manager it asks for a partial upgrade. But the funny thing is it installs 84 new packages in installation step, remove all the 84 packages in the cleaning step!!! This is happening recursively(Every time I launch the update manager). Please can you suggest something?   • Priority Manager&ndash;Part 1- Laying out the plan

    Now that we have shown the EDMX with XPO/XAF and how use SpecFlow and BDD to run EasyTest scripts, let’s put it all together and show the evolution of a project using all the tools combined. I have a simple project that I use to track my priorities throughout the day.  It uses some of Stephen Covey’s principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  The idea is to write down all your priorities the night before and rank them.  This way when you get started tomorrow you will have your list of priorities.  Now it’s not that new things won’t appear tomorrow and reprioritize your list, but at least now you can track them.  My idea is to create a project that will allow you manage your list from your desktop, a web browser or your mobile device.  This way your list is never too far away.  I will layout the data model and the additional concepts as time progresses. My goal is to show the power of all of these tools combined and I thought the best way would be to build a project in sequence.  I have had this idea for quite some time so let’s get it completed with the outline below. Here is the outline of the series of post in the near future: Part 2 – Modeling the Business Objects Part 3 – Changing XAF Default Properties Part 4 – Advanced Settings within Liekhus EDMX/XAF Tool Part 5 – Custom Business Rules Part 6 – Unit Testing Our Implementation Part 7 – Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and SpecFlow Tests Part 8 – Using the Windows Application Part 9 – Using the Web Application Part 10 – Exposing OData from our Project Part 11 – Consuming OData with Excel PowerPivot Part 12 – Consuming OData with iOS Part 13 – Consuming OData with Android Part 14 – What’s Next I hope this helps outline what to expect.  I anticipate that I will have additional topics mixed in there but I plan on getting this outline completed within the next several weeks.  Thanks

  • loading splash screen takes priority over terminal or windows manager while running elsa

    I recently installed e17 and was trying to set up defaults to use elsa and ecomorph over the standard compiz as it constantly crashes since updating to 12.04. If elsa is installed the loading screen hangs and never loads to login, however i can get to a terminal or the e17 login instead of the standard gdm that usually shows up, within a second the screen goes back to the loading screen. I can still type and login as well as run commands in the terminal, but all I see is the loading screen. Switching between terminals i can confirm my commands before it switches back to the loading screen. If i remove elsa the loading screen hangs, but I can get to a terminal login and run lightdm to start my session with no problems. I have multiple DE installed and am unsure which loading screen is coming up. i think it's the KDE screen, grub comes up with a debian background if that helps. I'm not sure if i can switch the loading screen and resolve this issue or if i'm just going to have to scrap using elsa and get lightdm to load on boot again. Elsa would be my preference. I don't have the space to backup my files for a complete reinstall. Please help!

Eg: Ability to create a 4gb Fat32 parition with 32 kilobyte allocation size. Please don't suggest a terminal only application, no matter how awesome it might be, because that's not what I asked.     I installed various window managers (Awesome, dwm, etc.) from which I am not able to log out back to the login screen (gnome-session) in order to switch to another window manager. I need to reboot to do that, which is a waste of time. Question How can you log out via the terminal? didn't work.. dbus-send --session --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.SessionManager /org/gnome/SessionManager org.gnome.SessionManager.Logout uint32:1 ..neither did this: gnome-session-save --force-logout ..nor that: gnome-session-quit --force-logout they all returned: Failed to call logout: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files Is there a quick way to log out back into Gnome's session manager from a non-Gnome desktop manager using a terminal emulator? I know that CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE can be configured to restart X, but I'm looking for the easiest way to log out.

  • IE8 HTTPs Download Issue

    I have a problem with a system I develop related to IE8 downloading over SSL (ie on sites using https://...) and is described on this MS kb article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323308 We use the HTTPCacheability.NoCache option as the data being downloaded is sensitive, and is downloaded from a secured site. I don't want that data to be cached on any of the proxies etc that the response passes through back to the client. The article describing the issue details a fix to the client side registry changing a BypassSSLNoCacheCheck setting. I don't want to loosen the system security just for IE8, as the system works fine on anything more upto date. Getting all the clients to apply the hotfix is difficult at best, and impossible at worst. We need to support IE8 in the system, at least for now. So: 1: Does the detailed hotfix have any implications for the security at the browser end in IE8 - does it mean the file will be cached? (in a place other than where the user saves the file). 2: Is there some way I can get these files downloadable with a change at the server end that doesn't break the security side of things?

A zip file is created every day on ubutnu servers and I will download it to windows via this ftp script. I run this script everyday manually as I have to edit the last line(mget /usr/backup_02-11-2010.Zip) of the script to match today's date. I want to edit this script so that it will download only today's zip file at the scheduled time without needing to edit it everyday, when scheduled. It's clear that date is appended to the zip files and is in the format dd-mm-yyyy.   • XAMPP Closes the Connection and won't let me download anything

    I want my XAMPP Apache server to host a zip file (The file is around 250mb) but the server closes the connection and won't let me download the file! However webistes are loading correctly and It seems that the problem is with the extension Does xampp/apache have any file extension limit that they won't let me download .zip and .exe files? Also tested with a smaller .exe file , the problem is still present. It just doesn't let me download any file from the server.!!!     We have our main site at: http://mysite.com which we don't want to alter. Then we have our web clip app at: http://mysite.com/app/ If someone visits the app URL in normal Safari then the Safari UI will still display. But if the user adds the app URL to their home screen, and then they tap that icon they will launch the app URL without the Safari UI as intended. My question is how do you go about getting the user to use the web clip app from their home screen when they start from mysite.com? What I'm thinking is that we have a link on mysite.com that points to mysite.com/app/. Then when they click that /app/ link they'll go to the app but it won't be in "app mode". Can I detect that it's not in app mode and display a message like "add this page to your home screen to use the app"? And then when they do visit in app mode obviously just let the app run.

    Sup, so, I'm not familiar with linux at all so help is much appreciated. I've been trying to boot my pc up from a live CD unsuccessfully. I get to the stage at which there are the options to test without installing or install or so on where I select 'Install Ubuntu.' Here it relays through some fast DOS commands until it reaches 'end trace' and then, eventually, 'Killed.' I have already got a functional 11.10 version installed, could this be a problem? The reason I am attempting a reinstall is because the package system is damaged inside 11.10, a problem I can't seem to solve. If I try to install any new software from within the software centre it tells me that two banshee extensions must be removed.
