    I have just bought a VPS hosting package which runs PLESK Panel / Virtuozzo Virtual Container I see from the answers to another question, that you can determine the Linux flavour via SSH. But... Is this information available anywhere in the PLESK Panel / Virtuozzo Virtual Container graphical user interface? I am running: PLESK Panel version: 9.5.4 I cannot say which version of Virtuozzo I have...(apparently that's only known by my hosting company)

  • Immersed versus 'normal' version of chrome

    I installed chrome, and now I have 2 ways to open chrome: if I open chrome from the metro-tile menu, I get the full-screen, immersed, windows-8 style chrome. If I start the link I got on my desktop, I get the windowed version. Apart from the fact that I would like to know how I might do that on purpose, I also want to know what's going on so I can use the windowed version (I prefer that for a browser) from all links I have, especially the one in the menu.

    I was following this tutorial: http://articles.slicehost.com/2010/4/23/ubuntu-karmic-setup-part-2 On my ubuntu karmic version (on ec2, ami from elastic) I don't see this file: cat /etc/lsb-release It just isn't there. How can I see the version of the O/S? And shouldn't that file be there? Some people have told me ubuntu isn't really used as a server, is that true or is the trend making it more viable?

I have spent a significant amount of time trying to get this working but as the modem is not supported on Linux I have now decided to give in and install xp. Is there a specific version of xp that I need for this processor? or can I install the standard x86 version

  • yum security update - message indicating kernel version not up to date

    Running yum --security check-update returns this message: Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.63 is an installed security update Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.29 is the currently running version I already ran the yum security update on the kernel, but it looks like it didn't change the version running on the system. What needs to be done to make it run the new kernel? Are there any concerns about why it didn't change during the installation process? The yum log just shows installed for the new kernel no error messages.

  • Which version of emacs is best on Mac?

    On windows and ubuntu I just download the latest drops of emacs straight from the gun/fsf site, but they don't have Mac binaries there. I have a decent version that came with Snow Leopard, but just running in the bash terminal. Is there a version that runs in a standalone window and is more Mac friendly? I did try using ports, and downloaded one called emacs cocoa, but it didn't compile.

  • How do I create a new project in TFS from an existing project (breaking history)?

    My team is taking over a project from a previous team. We use a different TFS server than the original team, and we are also not interested in keeping the history of the project because we are accepting the latest version of the code as the beginning of our history with the project. Branching is not an option since we want to start our history from the current version of the code. We just want a fresh project with the existing code. I have not been able to create the new project from the old code successfully. I keep getting an error: "Source control cannot add the solution: Solution would span multiple workspaces" My process for attempting the new project creation: Create a workspace for the previous team's version of the code. Get latest version of that code into local mapped workspace directory Open the solution. Unbind all projects and solution. Close solution. Create a workspace for the new version of the code on our TFS server. Copy the unbound code on my local box to the new local workspace mapped folder. Open the solution from the new directory. "Add to source control" from the new solution. Then I get the error. I have tried removing the TFS security files out of the code directories in the unbound version and tried changing source control instead of adding to source control (but it just binds back to the original instead of letting me bind to the new). Is there any other way to do this besides recreating the solution/projects and adding back all the files and references? It doesn't seem like it should be this difficult... Any advice much appreciated!

  • Serializing Complex ViewModel with Json.Net Destabilization Error on Latest Version

    I just added the latest Version of JSON.Net and I get the System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime error when trying to use a controller (while running the application). I read in other posts that this issue should have been fixed in release 6 but I still have the problem. I even added *Newtonsoft.* to the ignore modules in the intellitrace options, which seems to have suppressed the error, but the post will just run forever and not return anything. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.     I using ant exec task to execute xcodebuild to build some iOS projects hudson. I would like to be able to crate script that way that allows not to specify sdk version, because after updating sdk on hudson slave or my iOS projects all my projects failing.... There is is nice option in xcode since sdk 4.2 in target setup Base SDK - Latest iOS and I don't have to provide -sdk param in xcodebuild command, but then (i think) it's taken from xcode project and it's bad because then some one can change target from simulator to device accidentally during commit. I need something that is constant. I will prefer not to use env variable because I would like to be able to run this ant task also on dev machines and would like not have to renember about setting it on all machines.     Hi, I'm trying to edit my sidebar.php file in my current them WP is using to display the last # of posts (only the titles) as links. I tried using the example of http://codex.wordpress.org/Integrating_WordPress_with_Your_Website but I always get the error on the line that states where the file wp-blog-header can be found. the error when opening the index blog page where the sidebar should be shown: // Get the last 3 posts. Warning: require(/blog/folder/wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /blog/folder/wp-content/themes/default/sidebar.php on line 7 So what is wrong?   • Getting list of Facebook friends with latest API

    I'm using the most recent version of the Facebook SDK (which lets to connect to something called the 'graph API' though I'm not sure). I've adapted Facebook's example code to let me connect to Facebook and that works... but I can't get a list of my friends. $friends = $facebook->api('friends.get'); This produces the error message: "Fatal error: Uncaught OAuthException: (#803) Some of the aliases you requested do not exist: friends.get thrown in /mycode/facebook.php on line 543" No clue why that is or what that means. Can someone tell me the right syntax (for the latest Facebook API) to get a list of friends? (I tried "$friends = $facebook-api-friends_get();" and get a different error, "Fatal error: Call to a member function friends_get() on a non-object in /mycode/example.php on line 129".) I can confirm that BEFORE this point in my code, things are fine: I'm connected to Facebook with a valid session and I can get my info and dump it to the screen just... i.e. this code executes perfectly before the failed friends.get call: $session = $facebook->getSession(); if ($session) { $uid = $facebook->getUser(); $me = $facebook->api('/me'); } print_r($me);

  • Media Archive System with branches?

    In short, how can I get VCS features (revisioning, branching, and deduplication) for a media collection that's far too large for most/all VCS systems? Background I have a 300GB music folder; unfortunately, I only have the hard drive space for this on my desktop system. However, a good portion of my collection is FLAC; therefore, I could theoretically have a space-optimized version in which I transcode all the FLAC to mp3 or some other lossy format, and use only that version on the laptop. However, a portion of my collection isn't FLAC. And that which isn't FLAC shouldn't be transcoded to an equivalent format; it won't have any space savings, which is the point. Moreover, it shouldn't be duplicated: the mp3/ogg portions of the collection should probably be exactly the same files. Thoughts One solution is to have format-specific organization of my music folders, and use some script to transcode the FLAC directory to mp3 or such into another directory. Another is some sort of hack using entirely separate copies and symbolic links for deduplication, or something similar. But these also have a disadvantage of lacking versioning; I'd like to be able to reorganize my music collection, retag things, etc. and save history. This isn't key, but would be awfully nice. I can't see it as entirely unreasonable to set up VCS hooks or something equivalent to keep directory structure synced between two copies, update tags, and transcode FLAC automatically into the space-optimized copy. Basically, the system I really want is a version control system. Two branches: one archival/desktop branch including the FLAC, one space-optimized/laptop branch without it; most VCSes would deal well with whole chunks being the same files well by compressing in a reasonable way (i.e. don't keep two copies of the same data). I could also do a lot of what I talk about above with hooks. But I don't know of any VCS that would deal with a 300GB repository with almost 20k files. Many of them would just not even initialize the whole affair; others would just do it inexpressibly slowly or otherwise badly. checkpoint looks like it's designed for something close (it's at least for media), but wouldn't do deduplication well (and I'm not convinced I'd be able to script it to do things like automatic transcoding and directory-structure syncing). So. Is there anything out there that can do all this, or should I consider it a programming project?

  • Is there a word processor similar to MS Word which saves files as readable txt files?

    I'm writing a paper together with my supervisor and would like to have a more sophisticated version control than *_291112_NEW_NEW_revised1.doc files. My supervisor is a non-computer person will never ever use LaTeX or git and loves MS Word. I'm therefore looking for an alternative to Word (I need commenting on text passages!) which stores the files as clean text (Markup for formating is fine), so I'm able to put them under version control on my side. I'm aware that git can also handle binary files, but I'd prefer the cleaner way of looking at the contents directly. If there's a way to automatically extract the text from word files, I'm fine with that too for now.

    I added a server stanza to my virtual.conf, and now nginx seems to have a problem reloading the config. At this point I don't know what exactly is going wrong or how to debug better. Any help would be most appreciated.     I have a really old installer (legacy app) that we are trying to get running on a Windows 7 64 bit os. Previously it has only been installed on Windows XP 32 bit. I get the following error when I try to run it: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. Contacting the software publisher is not an option (software is super old). Is there a way to get this to work? Some sort of compatibility mode? The only thing I have heard of that will work is a Virtual XP on the Win 7 box. The problem is that this software is a part of a whole software set. I would have to put all of the pieces on the Virtual XP or none at all. Before I go down the road of putting it all on the virtual xp I would like to know that there is no way to get it all on the Win 7 os.

  • Puppet and Vim fighting over Ruby version

    I have installed puppet from the .dmg from puppetlabs. If I remove ruby 1.9.3, puppet works, but other things like my vim install (dependant plugins) do not. According to http://docs.puppetlabs.com/guides/platforms.html#ruby-versions 1.9.3 is supported.     I have a table defined like this: Column: Version Message Type: varchar(20) varchar(100) ---------------------------------- Row 1: 2.2.6 Message 1 Row 2: 2.2.7 Message 2 Row 3: 2.2.12 Message 3 Row 4: 2.3.9 Message 4 Row 5: 2.3.15 Message 5 I want to write a T-Sql query that will get message for the MAX version number, where the "Version" column represents a software version number. I.e., 2.2.12 is greater than 2.2.7, and 2.3.15 is greater than 2.3.9, etc. Unfortunately, I can't think of an easy way to do that without using CHARINDEX or some complicated other split-like logic. Running this query: SELECT MAX(Version) FROM my_table will yield the erroneous result: 2.3.9 When it should really be 2.3.15. Any bright ideas that don't get too complex?
