    Coding Platform: ASP.NET 4.0 I am binding a GridView with LinqDataSource with AutoDelete functionality enabled. GridView is bound to the Products Table. I have a Products Table and a Category Table with an association on CategoryID. If I try to delete a Category that is referred in the Products Table I cannot do that. Its is totally acceptable, but I want the end user to be notified with some error message. Where to catch this error message?

    I'm using the Django Message Framework to show messages to users as well as the @login_required decorator on one of my views. So if a user tries to access a certain view without being logged in, they get kicked to the login page. How would I go about adding an error message to the login page saying "In order to do ... you must be logged in". I can't add it in the view like you normally would because the non-logged in user would never get to there.

Rerun the transaction. I am wondering whether such messages are stored in log files?   • QLogic QLE8152 won't link up with a fiber loop

    I have a Dell R710 running Debian Linux 6.0 (Squeeze). I installed a QLogic QLE8152 CNA in the PCI-E riser today and I have been trying to get the CNA's ethernet layer to come up after I put a fiber loop on it; I also scoped it with a light meter, and the SFP+ transceiver is getting the correct amount of light. The whole time I have been working on this problem, the lights on the CNA are blinking green at a rate of about 1 flash every 3 seconds. When I plug the fiber into a Juniper EX4500 10GE in a rack next to it, the Juniper's link stays down as well. I have to confess that this is my first wrangling with a CNA, so perhaps I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but here is what I have found so far... First the basics...     I already had question about this but obviously it was not accepted very well, apparently too long when it's actually more information so you could have given me better answer. Ok, I will be much clearer now. Best possible logic to develop scalable chat in terms of stability, storing/reading messages on chat, updating chat on new message for all users etc.? I have most of this developed, the logic I think I miss is -- check if there is new message and show it for all users. I have this implemented but it crashes the site due to its traffic of 300k-400k people, so that's my main question. The chat is PHP based and uses Pusher (www.pusher.com) for instant messaging but it lacks what I need because it's more like a websocket. I'm using hardcoded files to keep messages (want to avoid database as much as possible). It's a no extension type of file, I'm sure you know. I'm getting crash with $fp = fopen(..., "w"); // pretend ... is the path and filename fwrite($fp, $msg); //hardcode the message fclose($fp); where $msg is the message itself. I'm having 1 file per message. I show last 150 messages = 150 file accesses and reads, yeah it's too much I guess. I have better logic now which I'm pursuing and that is 1 file with last 50-100 messages at all time. Sure it should be much better. How does it crash, that's the trickiest part because everything seems ordinary, believe me it is difficult to determine what exactly crashes the site, but in like 5 minutes when I try to open the site it's gone, then I put the old content without chat and is back online again. I'm having jquery post every 1 second to check if there is new message. I'm using timestamp in a special file where I keep the time last message was sent and if ((time() - time in file) <= 2) = reload last 150 messages including the last one. Too much input/output, write/read or however to say it I think is what crashes the site.

    I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop.   • Acronis Disk Director AFTER Clone Disk error: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

    Used Acronis Disk Director on my desktop, plugged in the laptop drive 240GB SSD (USB) and the new hard drive 500GB SSD (usb) and the copy seemed to be fine. I didnt see any error messages but I didnt stare at it for 3 hours either. The clone disk of course the Toshiba hidden restore partition, the primary partition C drive and the active (boot?) partition and yes, did check box for copy NT signature. The computer boots up fine most of the time, but it seems that when the computer goes to sleep (i believe its sleep, hard to do much testing during school) or hibernate or reboot it will sometimes display this message: Intel(R) Boot Agent GE v1.3.52 Copyright (C) 1997-2010, Intel Corporation PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent Insert system disk in drive. Press any key when ready... Of course any key does nothing but repeat a similar method. However, if I press the power button on the laptop (Toshiba Portege R705, Win 7 Pro 64-bit) it puts computer into hibernate. After hibernating I press power button again and it comes out of hibernation without any odd messages or problems described above... so apparently that is my TEMP fix. Another recent issue I noticed is on occasion when creating a new folder or modifying something in the system variables, other random areas I will get a message: "The Stub received bad data" and simply retry the task and it works. Perhaps these two issues are linked.

To make the repairs in a new file, click Continue. To cancel saving the file, click Cancel". Clicking continue brings up another file dialog window followed by more repair errors. It seems behind the scenes it is looking to the source workbook when it tries to save the image in the new destination workbook. No useful error message, of course, thanks microsoft. But this problem never happened in Excel 2007. The reason why I am closing the source notebook before the save, is because I don't need the end user to see it after I programmatically pull a coversheet (with the image) from it, in an interop app. Thanks for any help. Update: I don't encounter this problem if I open the source workbook as "Read Only" (I do this programmatically using Excel Interop).
