  • Getting CoreMIDI to work in snow leopard with SimpleSynth

    I have been trying to follow the steps in the book Ruby Practical Project - making music with ruby and was trying to get CoreMIDI and output some notes using SimpleSynth. I can connect to the destination but when i do something like midi = LiveMIDI.new midi.note_on(0, 60, 100) I get no output from the sound system. Has anyone tried the code and faced similar situation?? And also What are the better libraries for music programming in Ruby?

  • Where do I file bugs for the Ubuntu One music client for Android?

    I've recently started using the Ubuntu One Music streaming client for Android. From the web page it says that the android app is based on Subsonic. I want to file bugs on the app, mostly feature requests and things like that, and from looking at the screenshots, the application seems to be Subsonic preconfigured to use my U1 music collection. Is it appropriate for me to file feature requests with Subsonic, or is there a Launchpad project where we're supposed to file bugs which are then vetted and sent upstream?

    I have a problem with Ubuntu 11.10. I can connect my Nokia C6-01 as a Massive Storage and Ubuntu will recognize it like a flash drive. But when I try to use Songbird, Rhythmbox, GMusic Browser and Amarok they arent even detecting it. I checked the add ons in everyone of them and they all have the mtp one. I want to be able to synchronize without problems my phone´s music but it´s so annoying to drag and drop my music and podcasts.

    Hello! I have an old machine, and I want to use for that to learn employees how to use Ubuntu, and to be easyer to switch from Windows. I've been installed 10.04, and updated, but this strange stuff is happend. Graphical installion failed, same strange thing. With alternate workd. Sometimes, when I boot up, a boot message displayed: Keyboard failure..., often diplayed after reboot, and after shutdown, when I haven't plugged off from AC. I replaced the keyboard yet, same failure... If I powered off, and plugged off from AC, no keyboard problems displayed in boot time. Details Configuration: Dell OptiPlex GX60 - in original cover, no changes. 256 MB DDR 166 MHz Intel® Celeron® Processor 2.40 GHz Dell 0C3207 Base Board I know, that is not enough, but I have three other Nec compuers, with nearly similar config, and they works well with 9.10, 10.04, 10.10. Live CDs I've been tried with 10.04 and 10.10, but the problem is displayed too. With 9.10 no strange things displayed, but it froze, during a simple apt-get install. After experimenting I found that it will display the cover art if it is embedded in PNG format, but up to now I've used JPEG for all my FLAC files. Rather than re-tagging all my files, does anyone know a way to get WMP 12 to display JPEG embedded cover art?

  • cannot load windows media within firefox browser

    Hi all, I recently re-installed windows and everything on it and besides this one issue everything is working much smoother again... the only problem is that I cannot load windows media content (for example *.asx) within my firefox browser. If i go to a page which embeds such streaming media, the media player never loads, and if i type the full url to the asx in the address bar, nothing loads. I have "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library 3.0.2.629" in my plugin list. what might i have broken? cheers, p.

  • Linux Flash Player with 2 Monitors: always full-screen on primary monitor

    My setup at home uses a laptop, with a larger external monitor in addition to the built-in LCD panel, which is primary. I can see the larger monitor from the rest of the room and use it as my TV, for playing DVDs and various types of web video. However, it isn't ideal for Flash video. For instance, if I watch a video from Hulu or any other Flash-based site, I can expand it to full-screen mode. However, no matter which monitor the browser window is on, the full-screen mode is always on the laptop LCD panel, which is both too small and not visible from most of the room. Does anyone know of a way to force the Flash video to play full-screen on the monitor I select instead of the primary? My video chipset is NVidia, using kernel 2.6.31 (Ubuntu). Thanks.

    Hi all Anybody have an idea as to when VMWARE SERVER will have an upgrade to support 3-d graphics etc. I have created some W7 VM's under WKS7 and an upgraded vmware tools -- the W7 VM's run full aero etc. I believe that vmware tools and graphics for VM's running under vmware server are at the WKS 6.5 level -- hence problems can occur.   • Flash player displays incorrect colours

    This is not a webapps issue, so please don't move it there. This is an issue with Flash, not with one specific website, as shown in this screenshot: This issue appears to come and go with time, it often also manifests as 'stuttering' playback with audio corruption and strange artifacts on the frames. I tried to uninstall/reinstall Flash a while back when it first started to do this, and that worked briefly, then it came back. Now reinstalling it doesn't fix the problem, even temporarily. Any ideas on the cause and/or a solution?

    Hi. I have a Sony Vaio FZ (VGN-FZ31M) with a blu ray drive. I have just recently purchased the 2001 Space Odissey in blu ray but haven't been able to play on my laptop. When I try to play it with WMP i get this: "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support." and this with VLC: "VLC cannot open MRL. Check log for details." I have once formatted the pc and done a clean install without the sony vaio recovery cd. Is it possible that it is necessary a specific blu ray driver that I have not installed? Thanks.

  • How can I make an actual compact cassette "tape" mix-tape from iTunes?

    I want to make an actual compact cassette mix-tape as a gift for someone. I use iTunes to manage all of my music. So a few questions: If I gather a bunch of songs on a playlist for sides A/B of the tape, how can I ensure that the volume for all songs is the same as it plays on the tape? I was thinking of finding an old compact casette recorder and putting the single line sterio output of my Mac to the casette's microphone input. Is that a good way to record onto the actual tape? How long is each side of a compact tape? Is there a default speed the tape plays at? Let's say I want to mesh some songs together so that they will completely fill up one side of a tape (cut off 10 seconds off the end of one song or the beginning of another song), what's the best way to do that?

    I don't want to install any codec packs because I remember the last time I did it unwanted results occurred. (I think a codec didn't play nice with an application and was a known problem with the codec. I think). I would like to open up Flash videos (.flv) in VirtualDub. I have a plugin for VirtualDub I just need the codec now. I tried putting DLLs into the VirtualDub folder but that didn't solve the problem. How can I get a codec for VirtualDub to use to decompress Flash video files?

How many clients is it possible to have before it overlaods a wamp server? Basically how robust is Apache for this kind of stuff?   • How do I find the really good AVS presets for winamp?

    I used to have an amazing collection of AVS presets that I slowly built up back in the day. I had probably 500-1000 that I could just let cycle through while I watched music. That was a while ago, and now I have no idea how to sort through the slushpile that is the winamp site to find the best presets. Sorting by rating is nearly useless since there are so many of varying quality. Is there a better way to browse the collection? Is there a really good large collection somewhere?
