    I have a class A and another class that inherits from it, B. I am overriding a function that accepts an object of type A as a parameter, so I have to accept an A. However, I later call functions that only B has, so I want to return false and not proceed if the object passed is not of type B.     How can I check if an object is orderable/sortable in Python? I'm trying to implement basic type checking for the __init__ method of my binary tree class, and I want to be able to check if the value of the node is orderable, and throw an error if it isn't. It's similar to checking for hashability in the implementation of a hashtable. I'm trying to accomplish something similar to Haskell's (Ord a) => etc. qualifiers. Is there a similar check in Python?

    I want to access the raw HTML code that my ASP.NET System.Web.UI.Page is about to render. How can i do that? Is there a property or method like System.Web.UI.Page.HTML or something like that. I know I could loop through the Controls List of the page and get access to all the Literal Controls etc, but I was wondering if there's a direct property or method that can return me the raw html, which I can modify just before rendering the page.

    Say I had a file like... http://my.website.com/myfile.raw and this file was just raw bytes, representing an intensity image. Is it possible to grab this data and read the bytes in JavaScript? And then using it with HTML 5 canvas (e.g., putImageData) to draw an image? Or is there some other way to do this in the browser without Java or Flash?

  • Is there a way in VS2008 (c#) to see all the possible exception types that can originate from a meth

    Is there a way in VS2008 IDE for c# to see all the possible exception types that can possibly originate from a method call or even for an entire try-catch block? I know that intellisense or the object browser tells me this method can throw these types of exceptions but is there another way than using the object browser everytime? Something more accessible when coding? Furthermore, I don't think intellisense or the object browser do anything more than read the XML code comments. Shouldn't it be possible to scan a class's source and find all the exception types that can be thrown. (Forget path-ing based on method input, just scan the code for exception types) Am I wrong? Extending this idea, you should be able to hover over the 'try' or 'catch' keywords and present a tooltip with all the types of exceptions that can be thrown. My question boils down to, does a VS2008 add on like this exist? Does VS2010 do this perhaps? If not, could you implement it the way I've described, by scanning the class code for thrown exception types and would people find it useful. Exceptions bubble up so you have to scan every bit of code every method call, which I guess could be impractical, though I suppose you could build an index the first time and increase your speed that way. (It might be a cool little project....)

    I am writing a short Sweave document that outputs into a Beamer presentation, in which I am using the sagetex package to solve an equation for two parameters in the beta binomial distribution, and I need to assign the parameter values into the R session so I can do additional processing on those values. I cannot find any documentation in the sagetex package on how to save output from sage commands into variables for use with other programs (in this case R). Any suggestions on how to get these values into R?

  • Will this web service accept both raw xml and an object?

    We have a web service that provides auto insurance quotes and a company that provides an insurance agency management system would like to use the web service for thier client but they want to pass the web service raw xml instead of using the wsdl to create a port, the object the service expects and calling the web method. The web service has performed flawlessly by creating an object like so com.insurance.quotesvc.AgencyQuote service = new com.insurance.quotesvc.AgencyQuote(); com.insurance.quotesvc.QuotePortType port = service.getQuotePortType(); com.insurance.quotesvc.schemas.request.ACORD parameter = null; Then create initialize the request object with the other objects that make up the response. parameter = factory.createACORD(); parameter.setSignonRq(signOn); parameter.setInsurancesSvcRq(svcRq); And send the request to the web service. com.insurance.quotesvc.schemas.response.ACORD result = null; result = port.requestQuote(parameter); By doing that I am able to easily marshall the request and the result into an xml file and do with them as I wish. So if a client was to send the web service via an http post as raw xml inside of a soap envelope. Would the web service be able to handle the xml without any changes being made to the web service or would there need to be changes made to the web service in order for it to handle a request of that type? The web service is a JAX_WS and we currently have both Java and C# clients consuming the web service using the method described above but now there is another client who wants to send raw xml inside of a soap envelope instead of creating the objects. I feel pretty sure that they will be making the call to the web service using vb. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but it is eluding me at the moment and any help is greatly appreciated.

As input I can receive the coordinates and how many touch points are in use, basically I just get an X,Y couple for every touch event/activated point at a customizable rate. I need to start from this and build my own callback system to achieve something like Object.onUp().doSomething() meaning that I would like to abstract just the detection of some particular movements and not having to deal with raw data: what algorithms can be useful in this case? In Outlook 2007 you could go to View Options, or right click on a message, then select Options, and "Internet Headers" could be viewed. However, in Outlook 2010 there is no "Options" in the context menu nor can I find it elsewhere. Has it been removed altogether or moved (hidden) someplace else? Thanks for any advise!

    If I'm going to create a multi-device btrfs filesystem. The official recommendation from the documentation apppears to be to create it on raw devices; i.e. /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, etc, but this is not explained. Are there any advantages to creating a partition table on these devices first, either GPT or MBR, and then creating the filesystem on /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1 et cetera? Does feeding btrfs whole devices have some particular advantage, or are these basically equivalent?

    I attempted to install the perl module Net::Twitter::Role::API::Lists using WHM and after doing so my whole site came down. It seems that something that was updated with the install isn't functioning correctly and since our website it written in Perl none of our site scripts will run. In almost 8 years of working with Perl I've never had any issues arise after installing a perl module so I have no idea how to even start troubleshooting.
