  • VMpalyer: host keyboard layout on guest?

    I use the dvorak keyboard layout on windows 7. Also, I have a bunch of custom keys mapped using autohotkey. I'm curious, is it possible to have the guest only receive the keyboard events produced by the host? I don't really know how the host communicates keyboard strokes to guests so I don't know how to enable this or if it's possible. Thoughts? Host OS: Win7 x64 Guest: Unbuntu 9.10 x64

    I'm wondering if there's any tools (preferably offline) that would allow me to layout all of the new equipment that will be going into several standard racks. Currently I'm using Excel to map out all of the slots columns for the data but I suspect that there is some better method of doing this. Suggestions? Edit: Dell has an online tool, but doesn't seem very good at actually saving the data that you're working on (and obviously it's geared towards Dell hardware).

  • Making a app show inside a GUI in Java

    Hello. I have one problem I've been dealing with for this week. You see, I'm new to Java, so that's probably it... Anyways, I've started a project out of pure curiosity. I had it done in Java, but in plain CMD-style, which is not very pretty. It calls one of my ten programs, chosen by the user using "Case". Eg.: If you type 1, it will go to program 1. After you finish it, it goes back to selection until the user press 0. After that, I've been trying to make a GUI for it. I've been able to create the selector alone and make it respond to the numbers chosen. If you press 1 and click ok, it will tell you you've chosen program 1. I, however, have not been able to make it run the program. I've been trying to make the program show up in a jPanel, part of the main GUI. I failed miserably. The program runs in separate but I can't make them run together like the CMD one.   • CSS issue with elements spanning columns

    Hi folks. Overview: I'm trying to create a relatively simple page layout detailed below and running into problems no matter how I try to approach it. Concept: - A standard-size-block layout. I'll quote unit widths: each content block is 240px square with 5px of margin around it. - A left column of fixed width of 1 unit (245px - 1 block + margin to left). No problems here. - A right column of variable width to fill the remaining space. No problems here either. - In the left column, a number of 1unit x 1unit blocks fixed down the column. Also some blank space at the top - again, not a problem. - In the right column: a number of free-floating blocks of standard unit-sizes which float around and fill the space given to them by the browser window. No problems here. - Lastly, a single element, 2 units wide, which sits half in the left column and half in the right column, and which the blocks in the right column still float around. Here be dragons. Please see here for a diagram: http://is.gd/bPUGI Problem: No matter how I approach this, it goes wrong. Below is code for my existing attempt at a solution. My current problem is that the 1x1 blocks on the right do not respect the 2x1 block, and as a result half of the 2x1 block is overwritten by a 1x1 block in the right-hand column. I'm aware that this is almost certainly an issue with position: absolute taking things out of flow. However, can't really find a way round that which doesn't just throw up another problem instead.     I have a LEFT OUTER OUTER join in LINQ that is combining with the outer join condition and not providing the desired results. It is basically limiting my LEFT side result with this combination. Here is the LINQ and resulting SQL. What I'd like is for "AND ([t2].[EligEnd] = @p0" in the LINQ query to not bew part of the join condition but rather a subquery to filter results BEFORE the join.     I have the following SQL which I am trying to translate to LINQ: SELECT f.value FROM period as p LEFT OUTER JOIN facts AS f ON p.id = f.periodid AND f.otherid = 17 WHERE p.companyid = 100 I have seen the typical implementation of the left outer join (ie. into x from y in x.DefaultIfEmpty() etc.) but am unsure how to introduce the other join condition ('AND f.otherid = 17') EDIT Why is the 'AND f.otherid = 17' condition part of the JOIN instead of in the WHERE clause? Because f may not exist for some rows and I still want these rows to be included. If the condition is applied in the WHERE clause, after the JOIN - then I don't get the behaviour I want. Unfortunately this: from p in context.Periods join f in context.Facts on p.id equals f.periodid into fg from fgi in fg.DefaultIfEmpty() where p.companyid == 100 && fgi.otherid == 17 select f.value seems to be equivalent to this: SELECT f.value FROM period as p LEFT OUTER JOIN facts AS f ON p.id = f.periodid WHERE p.companyid = 100 && AND f.otherid = 17 which is not quite what I'm after.

  • How can I force overflow: hidden to not use up my padding-right space

    I have the following code: <div style="width: 100px; overflow: hidden; border: 1px solid red; background-color: #c0c0c0; padding-right: 20px; "> 2222222222222222222222111111111111111111111111113333333333333333333</div> (XHTML 1.0 transitional) What happens is that the padding-right doesn't appear, it's occupied by the content, which means the overflow uses up the padding right space and only "cuts off" after the padding. Is there any way to force the browser to overflow before the padding-right, which means my div will show with the padding right? What I get is the first div in the following image, what i want is something like the 2nd div: image

    Hi all, I'm building an horizontal menu in html+css. The current result is fine, except I want to have some items on the left, and others on the right. I couldn't find usefull result on Google with such common keywords so I'm asking on SO. Don't want to adjust the width as I've a :hover background color changing effet on the links. I suppose margin or padding should do the trick but I can't manage to find how. Any clue?     The described setup with 2nd monitor to left of primary causes WM_NCHITTEST to send negative values which is apparently not supported according to this post. I have a custom control written in win32 that is like a Group control. It has a small clickable area. No MOUSE events are coming to my control when the window containing the custom control lies on a second monitor to the left of the primary monitor. SPY++ shows WM_NCHITTEST messages but no Mouse messages. When window is moved to primary monitor or secondary monitor is positioned to right of primary (all points are positive) then everything works fine. Below is how the WM_NCHITTEST is handled in my custom control. In general I need it to return HTTRANSPARENT so as not to obscure other controls placed inside of it.   • GoogleTv video using VideoView is clipped, even though its in a separate layout of its own

    Wrote an application for GoogleTV box to play a video. The video is a separate activity to the main activity. Wired up a button on my main layout/activity to to start the video activity up (using its own video.xml layout), the video activity loads and starts playing, but the video is clipped, only showing a few centimetres of the bottom. The clipped region looks like the views that occupied the previous layout (main.xml) . The intriguing thing is that if I push the back button, before returning to the main activity the full video frame is shown. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any suggestions welcome.     I have an issue with a site I am working on where the right wrapper keeps dropping down below the site. Obviously I want it to stay on the right hand side. I've coded up a test case which shows my issue (I think) and I'm wondering if there is a better way to do things.   • (UNITY3D) Get slerp to work just as LookAt(,Vector3.right) does

    Ive been working over a sidescroller shooter game. Ive got my sidescroller shooter character to look around with these : chest.LookAt(mousepos,Vector3.right); & chest.LookAt(mousepos,Vector3.left); (Left when the character is turned to the left and right when the character is turned to the right) so it wont aim in to any other axis... But when the mouse gets to cross the middle of the character and not around it it gets the rotation to make a small transportation between frames and it wont get all the way to there.. It'll just teleport to its correct rotation like lookat should. Well the question is, how do I get any quaternion slerp which works with a Time.deltTime to work as same as LookAt(,Vector3.right)? I must have the Vector3.right and left so it'll move trough 1 axis. Many thanks to anyone who helps me out. :)

    I am building a very simple jquery menu. On hover, I have a menu on the right easing to the left margin of my menu container. This is easy, as the text is left aligned within said container. However, I also have a menu on the left, and because the links (left justified) are of differing length, the best I can do is adjust the padding to ease the text a uniform amount between links. Therefor, long link text goes to the right edge of the container, buy short text only makes it about half way. In reading about this, I have learned that you can not modify the text align property as it is non numeric. Is there any other way to do this? I of course tried to go with: $('#selector').css('text-align':'right') but that made the text jump to the right instead of ease. Is there any way to ensure all links ease to the rightmost margin of the container?
