  • EF 4.x generated entity classes (POCO) and Map files

    I have an MVC 4 app that I am working on and using the code first implementation except I cheated a bit and created my database first then generated my entity classes (poco) from my database using the EF power tools (reverse engineer). I guess you can say I did database first method but I have no edmx file just the context class and my entity classes (poco) I have a few projects in the works using MVC and EF with pocos but just the one project I used the tool to generate my pocos from the database. My question is about the mapping files that get created when I generate my pocos using the tool. What is the purpose of these Map files? I figured the map files are needed when generating the db from the model like with the true code first method, in my case where I am using a tool to generate my model from the database do the map files have any influence on how my app uses the entity classes?

  • Shared static classes between AppDomains in loaded library code

    I'm working on a program in which I want to do something similar to what the Photon Server system does: Offer a common "API" class library, which contains common data classes, enumerations, and interfaces for working with the host program. Have client programs (class libraries) reference this DLL and implement interfaces listed within it. Have the "host" application load built DLL client libraries into separate AppDomains and reference the interfaces that lie within to have polymorphic client code from within a dll file. I have something like this worked out: a class library that contains common code, but I've run into the following question How should I handle static classes? Should I add a method that is called by the host program to synchronize data? How do I keep a static class the same between AppDomains? Should I discard these classes in favor of better interfaces between the code levels? And in general, how do I share data between these loaded AppDomains?

From each one of those derived Classes, there are further more two classes are derived each called ChildClassAA and ChildClassAB[AB stands for Bth Child class from the Ath Class.Lets not really pull our hair on this nomenclature]. Now, ideally, I want to declare a general type as a private member of another Class say IndependentClass which can be initialized during run time as either of the objects of type ClassAor ClassB or ClassC and even the derived classes like ClassAA or ClassAB. I may have something like this: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(1), new Class2(1), new Class1(2), new Class3(1), new Class2(2), new Class4(1), new Class3(2) }; I am trying to use LINQ to semi-sort the list so that the natural order is maintained EXCEPT for certain classes which have base.GroupThisType == true. All classes with GroupThisType should be grouped together at the place that the first class of the same type occurs.   • Get other classes from an element with Jquery

    I am working on a small bit of script that will allow for easy and flexible creation of buttons. My buttons are made of three parts, a left, a right and a streched middle piece. There are three different sizes and three different colours of each. I have written the code that resizes the button to fit the text. Now I am looking to add the ability to easily set the colour and size. I was thinking of using three classes something like <div class="button blue big"> My script already loops through the button classes using each. Now I need to find out what other classes are set and adjust the pictures and dimentions used to fit. So how can I find out what other class selectors an element has? Also I am fairly new to jquery/javascript so I am wondering if storing the design as class selectors is the best way.

    So, let's say we have classes A, B and C and I want to inherit from all those classes and have another class called D, it can be done using implements and interfaces in Java. But let's say we don't want to use this simple solution, would you be able to inherit class D from classes A, B and C in any other way in Java? (This question might be related to design patterns, it has been brought up after challenging my colleague at lunch discussing design patterns) I don't think there is any other way to have multiple inheritance in Java other than using multiple interfaces.

  • Similar Sub-Classes

    Lets say I have a class A that is fairly simple like this - public class A{ private int randomField = 0; protected int key; protected double dmg; } Now I want to write a number of sub-classes that inherit the protected fields and only differ based on the initial values that are assigned to those fields - for example, if I wrote two subclasses B and C, the only difference between those two sub-classes would be that the values key and dmg would have different values. They would share a method, set, which would be exactly the same, in that it would affect the same variable. I find when I'm writing these sub-classes I'm repeating myself, as I just change the constructor to set different initial values to key and dmg, and simply copy and paste the set method. Is there a 'good' way to do this?

    I wanna upload a song to youtube, and put a static 1280x720 pic as the video. I'd like the format to be one of the recommended ones. I tried Windows Movie Maker 2.6 but it only generated a 640x480 video. I also tried Windows Live Movie Maker but it put a big black margin around my pic (and unexplicably, produced a video with a slightly lower volume). Do you know any way to do what I need?

    I have edited my apache vhost file in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled to add the following: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.mysite.cn ServerAlias mysite.cn *.mysite.cn DocumentRoot /home/user/static/mysite/cn </VirtualHost> It still points to the default site on the server when i browse to mysite.cn but when i enter anything along the lines of ww3.mysite.cn it point to the new correct document root any clues of what the problem could be as i am lost.

    I have a Debian VPS with an assigned static IP. I want to setup a virtual interface (with an ip like 192.168..) on my laptop (Ubuntu, dynamic IP) linked to the remote VPS, so that if I bind sockets to it the traffic is tunneled to the VPS and sent to the Internet from there. Port forwarding must be available. This looks like a job for a VPN software, but I'm clueless about the pieces of software needed. Any advice?

  • Can't get my Raspberry Pi to keep a static IP

    I recently got given a Raspberry Pi and I would like to be able to remote into it using puTTy from my laptop so I don't have to sit next to my tv with a keyboard and mouse to use it. I am able to get a puTTy session going when I know the IP address that my router has given the Pi on each session but it keeps changing on each reboot as I would expect. So I followed a number if instruction to go about configuring the RPi to keep a static IP address. This involved changing the file at '/etc/netwrok/interfaces' which now contains (password removed): auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.82 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.254 auto wlan0 allow-hotplug wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid "BeBoxD304BF" wpa-psk "**********" Despite this however, each time I reboot my RPi it gives me a new dynamic IP address still. The only suggestion I've found on Google advises setting up a launchd service to run at boot, which seems like a horrible hack (does it survive a network restart without rebooting, for instance?)     I am modding out a custom built case/system. I have my motherboard mounted on a metal tray, (Dell did this) has been working great. Not I am modding the case to hold everything and how I want to mount the motherboard on the tray I have a slight gap between the wall of the case and the motherboard/tray. Can I put a piece of thin anti-static foam/packaging in between the tray and the case? That is safe right?

    We have recently changed our ISP, I have changed the MX record for our domain name to point to the new external static IP address for the router on the new ISP's connexion but I am not getting any mail (though sending works). Do I just have to wait will the change propagates? I am slightly concerned because I can connect to the web email service made visible through the new router, but not actually receive email. Have I missed something?

I have a vpn IPsec site2site between 2 lan with different ip classes, LAN A is class C and LAN B is class A. The vpn presents the LAN A to LAN B with the 10.178.51.64/27 segment. The problem is that when I start the vpn connection I cant Ping any 10.174.0.0/24 address(LAN B remote segment) from my LAN A; I think I need some kind of static route. Could u help me out pls?     I am new to both Chef and Ruby and I am implementing some scripts to learn them. Now I am facing the problem of how to organize my code: I have created a class in the library directory and I have used a custom namespace to maintain order. EP::MyTools.copy_file "/etc", "passwd" print_something works fine, but with copy_file I get this error: undefined method `cookbook_file' for Chef::Recipe::EP::FileTools:Class It's clear to me that I don't know how to create libraries in Chef or I don't know some basic assumptions. Can anyone help me, please? I am looking for a solution of this problem (organize my code, libraries, use resources in classes) or, better, a good Chef documentation as I find the documentation very deficient in clarity and disorganized so that research through it is a pain.
