  • steps to fix a project that won't compile

    - by eco_bach
Hi Pulling my hair out in trying to get a simple window based project to compile. I am running both 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 versions of Xcode. The latter is set up in a separate folder. Originally I used the latter to create and compile my project against the new 4.0 sdk. It compiled fine. Then I made the mistake of deleting some sdks I thought I no longer needed. Ever since I can no longer compile. Right now I get a dozen or so errors similar to the following "_OBJC_CLASS_$_CATransition", referenced from: objc-class-ref-to-CATransition in ViewTransitionsAppDelegate.o My active executable is the iphone simulator 4 and Base SDK is iPhone device 3.0. I tried reinstalling the xcode3.2.3 installer, no difference. I'm totally stymied, as my project WAS working and compiling fine, both to the simulator and external device. Are there any best practices or recommended steps in fixing or rebuilding a project when it won't compile? Any help welcome!

  • Code to make div appear after a certain amount of time.

    - by user307783
Hi, I'm looking for code that makes a div appear after a certain amount of time on a site. Here's the sort of thing I'm talking about: <div class="container"> <div class="secretpopout"> This is the div I want to pop out after a couple of minutes. </div> </div> I'm relatively new to javascript and jQuery, but I'm assuming I will need to use the setTimeout or something similar. I've tried finding the answer online, but if someone could explain it in a way a designer (as opposed to a programmer) would get it, that would be great - ANY LIGHT shed on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • I want to query whitepages.com 4,000 times, how to save the results?

    - by John Corbin
I have an old customer list of 4,000 businesses. I want to determine if the phone numbers associated with each listing are still working (and therefore the business is probably still open). I can put each number in whitepages.com and check them one by one... but want to automate the results. I have looked at their API and can't digest it. I can form the correct query URL, but trying things like cURL -O doesn't work. I have access to Mac tools, Unix tools, and could try various javascript stuff if anyone could point me in the right direction... would even pay. Help? Thx

  • How to register data for validation using RegisterForEventValidation in asp.net

    - by rocksolid
I would like to know the method of using RegisterForEventValidation in asp.net My problem is this. If I enable eventvalidation, then changing the controls using javascript and then posting the information back to the server later on throws up an error. But If I disable event validation, the data present/selected in the controls is not available in the event handlers in code behind. So, how should one resolve such issues? Also, are there are any good articles that explain the issue and a resolution in detail? Tried googling. Came across many articles. But nothing that matched my expectations. Thanks!

  • jQuery and ASP.NET drop down problem

    - by Sayem Ahmed
I have a drop down in an ASP.NET page. Whenever the value of the drop down changes an ASP.NET AJAX request is made to the server. I also attached a jQuery "change" event handler to that list to execute some code when the value is changed. So, probably two different event handlers are being attached to the same drop down, and it's causing some problems, i.e., sometimes wrong drop down values are sent to the server. I don't know why is this happening but I think attaching two different event handlers to a same drop down may be the reason. Can anyone tell me what is the problem here? If what I guessed is true, then is there any other way to execute some custom javascript code before asp.net AJAX request is sent ?

  • addEventListener gone after appending innerHTML

    - by Vishal Shah
Okay, so i have the following html added to a site using javascript/greasemonkey. (just sample) *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* (excuse me, i've had to replace the '<' '' with * since hyperlinks for new users aren't allowed!) and i've also added a click event listener for the elements. All works fine up to this point, the click event gets fired when i click the element. But... i have another function in the script, which upon a certain condition, modifies that html, ie it appends it, so it looks like: *a id='abc'*HEllo*/a* *a id='xyz'*Hello*/a* *a id='123'*Hello*/a* but when this is done, it breaks the listeners i added for the first two elements... nothing happens when i click them. if i comment out the call to the function which does the appending, it all starts working again! help please...

  • Ajax call in a jQuery plugin not working properly

    - by Saneef
    I'm trying to create a jQuery plugin, inside I need to do an AJAX call to load an xml. jQuery.fn.imagetags = function(options) { s = jQuery.extend({ height:null, width:null, url:false, callback:null, title:null, }, options); return this.each(function(){ obj = $(this); //Initialising the placeholder $holder = $('<div />') .width(s.width).height(s.height) .addClass('jimageholder') .css({ position: 'relative', }); obj.wrap($holder); $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: s.url, dataType: "xml", success:function(data){ initGrids(obj,data,s.callback,s.title); } , error: function(data) { alert("Error loading Grid data."); }, }); function initGrids(obj, data,callback,gridtitle){ if (!data) { alert("Error loading Grid data"); } $("gridlist gridset",data).each(function(){ var gridsetname = $(this).children("setname").text(); var gridsetcolor = ""; if ($(this).children("color").text() != "") { gridsetcolor = $(this).children("color").text(); } $(this).children("grid").each(function(){ var gridcolor = gridsetcolor; //This colour will override colour set for the grid set if ($(this).children("color").text() != "") { gridcolor = $(this).children("color").text(); } //addGrid(gridsetname,id,x,y,height,width) addGrid( obj, gridsetname, $(this).children("id").text(), $(this).children("x").text(), $(this).children("y").text(), $(this).children("height").text(), $(this).children("width").text(), gridcolor, gridtitle ); }); }); } function addGrid(obj,gridsetname,id,x,y,height,width,color,gridtitle){ //To compensate for the 2px border height-=4; width-=4; $grid = $('<div />') .addClass(gridsetname) .attr("id",id) .addClass('gridtag') .imagetagsResetHighlight() .css({ "bottom":y+"px", "left":x+"px", "height":height+"px", "width":width+"px", }); if(gridtitle != null){ $grid.attr("title",gridtitle); } if(color != ""){ $grid.css({ "border-color":color, }); } obj.after($grid); } }); } The above plugin I bind with 2 DOM objects and loads two seperate XML files but the callback function is run only on the last DOM object using both loaded XML files. How can I fix this, so that the callback is applied on the corresponding DOMs. Is the above ajax call is correct? Sample usage: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ $(".romeo img").imagetags({ height:500, width:497, url: "sample-data.xml", title: "Testing...", callback:function(id){ console.log(id); }, }); }); </script> <div class="padding-10 min-item background-color-black"> <div class="romeo"><img src="images/samplecontent/test_500x497.gif" alt="Image"> </div> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ $(".romeo2 img").imagetags({ height:500, width:497, url: "sample-data2.xml", title: "Testing...", callback:function(id){ console.log(id); }, }); }); </script> <div class="padding-10 min-item background-color-black"> <div class="romeo2"><img src="images/samplecontent/test2_500x497.gif" alt="Image"> </div> </div> Here is the sample XML data: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <gridlist> <gridset> <setname>gridset4</setname> <color>#00FF00</color> <grid> <color>#FF77FF</color> <id>grid2-324</id> <x>300</x> <y>300</y> <height>60</height> <width>60</width> </grid> </gridset> <gridset> <setname>gridset3</setname> <color>#00FF00</color> <grid> <color>#FF77FF</color> <id>grid2-212</id> <x>300</x> <y>300</y> <height>100</height> <width>100</width> </grid> <grid> <color>#FF77FF</color> <id>grid2-1212</id> <x>200</x> <y>10</y> <height>200</height> <width>10</width> </grid> </gridset> </gridlist>

  • How to get this.grandparent() functionality in Mootools?

    - by RyOnLife
I have built a class in Mootools and extended it twice, such that there is a grandparent, parent, and child relationship: var SomeClass1 = new Class({ initialize: function() { // Code }, doSomething: function() { // Code } }); var SomeClass2 = new Class({ Extends: SomeClass1, initialize: function() { this.parent(); }, doSomething: function() { this.parent(); // Some code I don't want to run from Class3 } }); var SomeClass3 = new Class({ Extends: SomeClass2, initialize: function() { this.parent(); }, doSomething: function() { this.grandParent(); } }); From Class3, the child, I need call the doSomething() method from Class1, the grandparent, without executing any code in Class2#doSomething(), the parent. What I need is a grandParent() method to complement the Mootools parent(), but it appears that one does not exist. What's the best way to accomplish this in either Mootools or pure JavaScript? Thanks.

  • Test if element already has jQuery datepicker

    - by macca1
I have a form with many input elements. Some are date fields with a jQuery UI datepicker alraedy attached: $("#someElement").mask("9?9/99/9999").datepicker({showOn: 'button', buttonText:'Click here to show calendar', duration: 'fast', buttonImageOnly: true, buttonImage: /images/calicon.gif' }); Then I have a key command bound to this function: function openCalendar() { var selection = document.activeElement; // { Need to test here if datepicker has already been initialized $(selection).datepicker("show"); // } } This works great for elements which already have the datepicker on them. However any other fields will throw a javascript error. I'm wondering the best way to test to see if datepicker has already been initialized on that field.

  • I can't change HTTP request header Content-Type value using jQuery

    - by Matt
Hi I tried to override HTTP request header content by using jQuery's AJAX function. It looks like this $.ajax({ type : "POST", url : url, data : data, contentType: "application/x-www-form-urlencoded;charset=big5", beforeSend: function(xhr) { xhr.setRequestHeader("Accept-Charset","big5"); xhr.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded;charset=big5"); }, success: function(rs) { target.html(rs); } }); Content-Type header is default to "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8", but it obviously I can't override its value no matter I use 'contentType' or 'beforeSend' approaches. Could anyone adivse me a hint that how do I or can I change the HTTP request's content-type value? thanks a lot. btw, is there any good documentation that I can study JavaScript's XMLHttpRequest's encoding handling?

  • Flex - How do I get the absolute X and Y coordinate including HTML offset?

    - by Mauricio
Hey everyone, I am calling a JS function through the ExternalInterface using Flex which requires the absolute X and Y coordinates to create a pop-up menu. The Flex application is displayed on the center of an HTML page, therefore there is an HTML X and Y offset to consider. I have tried using the LocalToGlobal and ContentToGlobal functions, but these are just giving me the X and Y coordinates relative to the Flex application, it is not considering the HTML X and Y offset of having the Flex app in the center of the page or varying different screen resolutions. Is the best approach to retrieve the HTML X and Y offset using JavaScript? Is there a Flex function I can use that provides the absolute X and Y coordinates based on the HTML page? Thanks!

  • Selecting a radio button when a dropdown value changes

    - by Tim F.
    My setup is something like this: radiobutton1 - selection1 radiobutton2 - selection2 textinput1 I want radiobutton1 to be selected whenever selection1 is changed, and I want radiobutton2 to be selected whenever either selection2 or textinput1 is changed. There has to be a simple javascript solution here... I just can't find it. Here's my actual code ("$semopt" is a string holding the html code for the options on the first selection input): <input type='radio' name='semester' value='existing'/>Existing semester: <select name='sem_id'">$semopt </select><br/> <input type='radio' name='semester' value='new'/>New Semester: <select name='sem_name'"> <option value='Fall'>Fall</option> <option value='Spring'>Spring</option> </select> <input name='sem_year' value='$thisyear' size='5'"/><br/>

  • Detecting if a browser is using Private Browsing mode

    - by Steve
I'm building an extranet for a company paranoid about security. They want to make sure that (among other things) their users are browsing the site with the Private Browsing mode switched on in their web browser so that no cookies or history is kept. I found only this http://jeremiahgrossman.blogspot.com/2009/03/detecting-private-browsing-mode.html and http://serverfault.com/questions/18966/force-safari-to-operate-in-private-mode-and-detect-that-state-from-a-webserver The ideal solution would use no or minimal javascript. Would attempting to set a unique cookie work for all browsers and platforms? Anyone done this before? thanks!

  • onclick event not working after ie7 reload

    - by Charles
I am using Javascript to dynamically create part of my page content. A routine that generates a set of img tags is called from the window.onload event. Those img tags are assigned attributes, including an onclick event. The img tags host thumbnail images that, when clicked, change the src property of the image in the main view div. Everything works properly in FF 3.5. I can reload the page and the dynamically generated onclick events continue to fire as expected. In IE7 everything works normally until I reload the page. At that point events that were hard coded into the xhtml section continue to work as expected, and the dynamically generated img tags are shown on the page, but their onclick events fail to work. How can I get IE7 to implement the dynamically generated click events on reload?

Search() action in controller runs for longer period of time. I simulate this in testing by putting Thread.Sleep(15000); in Search()action. 5 sec. after Submit button was pressed, the above jQuery script calls Refresh() action in Home controller. public ActionResult Refresh() { ViewData["Result"] = DateTime. Now; return PartialView(); } Refresh() renders this partial <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" % <%= ViewData["Result"] % The problem is that in Internet Explorer 8 there is only one request to /Home/Refresh; in Firefox 3.6.3 all requests to /Home/Refresh are made but nothing is displayed on the web page. Another problem with Firefox is that requests to /Home/Refresh are made every second not every 5 seconds. I noticed that after I clear Firefox cache the script works well first time button1 is pressed, but after that it doesn't work. I would be grateful for helpful suggestions.

Why do you think is that?

  • How to override HTML <FONT SIZE="2"> with CSS

    - by Deverill
I was given the task of doing a facelift to our current site. I am moderately well versed in CSS so I am converting the bazillion tags to CSS styles and deleting about 2 times that many that were simply not necessary. It's all going well until I run into a certain product page that is only a wrapper into which other HTML files are pulled by a server.execute(filename) command. (we're using aspx for the wrapper page.) There are almost 700 of these pages and they all are cursed with this and that. Past editors with FrontPage that only know how to drag pretty things on the screen. Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to use CSS in the wrapper page to override the tag behavior so I can make it something sane that fits with the rest of my pages. I'd even be open to something JavaScript that would remove the tags, but that's my less preferred solution. Thanks!

  • Should XML be used server-side, and JSON client-side?

    - by Michel Carroll
As a personal project, I'm making an AJAX chatroom application using XML as a server-side storage, and JSON for client-side processing. Here's how it works: AJAX Request gets sent to PHP using GET (chat messages/logins/logouts) PHP fetches/modifies the XML file on the server PHP encodes the XML into JSON, and sends back JSON response Javascript handles JSON information (chat messages/logins/logouts) I want to eventually make this a larger-scale chatroom application. Therefore, I want to make sure it's fast and efficient. Was this a bad design choice? In this case, is switching between XML and JSON ok, or is there a better way?
