  • Windows 7 File shares randomly no accessible from OSx

    Hello Everyone!, My setup is I have a windows 7 computer acting as a file server. All my computers can connect to it fine including my mac. The problem is that randomly the mac will get kicked off the file share (even when i am in the middle of using it) and will not be allowed to reconnect to it until i reboot the windows 7 machine. (Rebooting the mac doesn't help) Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen?

  • Show multiple calendars in overlay view by default

    In MS Outlook 2007/2010, it's possible to show multiple calendars overlayed on each other (a la Google Calendar; see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/view-calendars-side-by-side-or-overlaid-HA001230157.aspx#BM4). However, it appears that in order to do this, you must first open the calendars side-by-side and then press the little left-arrow button to "combine" them into an overlaid view. Is there a way to make "overlaid" the default view for multiple calendars (again, a la Google Calendar)?

  • Network use of Gaming PC

    Background After YEARS of waiting, I built the custom gaming PC of my dreams: Intel i7 - 975 Extreme Edition 3.3ghz (overclocked to 4.0) ATI Radeon 5970 2gb Corsair 256 gb SSD Drive 2 TB Sata II 3.0 7200rpm data drive 12 GB Kingston Hyper-X (1600mhz) DDR3 Windows 7 Ultra 64 bit And so on. . . Problem I hooked this beast up to our home theater and settled in for a great gaming season only to realize a couple of drawbacks: It's hard to accurately wax bad guys using a keyboard in your lap whilst reclined on your couch (and using a wireless keyboard). It's hard to read the text on the screen (i.e. menus, etc). I find that a 1:1 ratio (screen diagonal inch to inch away from screen) is optimum, but using the home theater, it's more like 1:3 which has me squinting unless I sit on the coffee table. The wife always seems to want the TV the same time I do and, unfortunately "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and Battlefield BC don't mix. I am losing the battle in the home theater room, but the PC has to stay there (long story). So, this leaves me with the option of playing in my home office which is about 30 feet away from the home theater. I am a software developer so I have a pretty decent set up in my office--multiple 1080p monitors, HP Envy 17 which can run games like Crysis in 720p with out stammering too much. Also, I can game very comfortably at my desk in the office. Still, even though the set up in my office can run games well enough, I don't want to regress to that when I have worked YEARS for an awesome gaming PC that can run everything on ultra high settings. My Question What are my options for running my games on the beastly desktop in the Home Theater, but physically playing in my office about 30 feet away? A really long HDMI cable? LAN/RDC? Details that May Help We have an open crawlspace so running cable from HT room to office is no problem. I already have networked the house with a LAN Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Matt

    I have configured nagios in my environment and i have used the following setting for a service which monitors the disk space for every 10 min , Normal check interval =10 min retry check interval = 1 min Maximum attempts =2 But accoring to this values i should recieve my first alert after 10 min and then from there for every 1 min. But in my case i am recieving my first alert and then next alert comes to me after 20 min. Can some one help me in fixing this.

  • crows foot notation in Visio 2007

    I'm using the standard Database Model Diagram template in Visio 2007. When I try to connect two entities, the line is a "one and only one" type. I need a "zero or more" type, but no amount of line editing will change the line. Is this a bug? The Visio help does not describe how to do this and the MS website turns up no results for 2007 (plenty for 2003, but the menu options it refers to are not in 2007).

  • PTR Record Troubles

    I am having a hell of a time getting our PTR record right. Our current PTR zone looks like this: $ttl 38400 @ IN SOA ns1.domain.com. admin.domain.com. ( 1268669139 10800 3600 604800 38400 ) xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa. IN NS ns2.domain.com. xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa. IN NS ns1.domain.com. 97 IN PTR mail.domain.com. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa. IN PTR mail.domain.com. 97.96/28. IN PTR mail.domain.com For some reason the only thing that works is the 97.96/28. When this line is in there it actually says I have a PTR record when reporting from intodns.com. If I remove that line, it says I have no PTR. I have followed instructions from http://www.philchen.com/2007/04/04/configuring-reverse-dns and when I follow those instructions intodns.com says I have no PTR. When it does work with the line 97.96/28., the PTR kicks back as (from intodns.com) : 97.xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa -> mail.domain.com.xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa Which is, to my knowledge, an incorrect PTR. I want it to just kick back as mail.domain.com, without the xxx.xxx.xxx.in-addr.arpa extension. I have tried everything I can think of but I can't fix it. I can't help but think it's one of those things that is so stupid and simple I'm going to do the ol'facepalm. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!   • Notepad++ Search & Replace with Regular Expressions

    I know its simple, but I can't get it to work... I have a strings like {span style="display:none"}123{/span} and {span style="display:none"}456{/span} and {span style="display:none"}789{/span} in a file. I want to remove all of these string. So, I thought a simple regular expression replace in NotePad++ should be like "{span style="display:none"}[(.)]{/span}" - but, this is not working. Thank for your help!

  • vmware windows7 professional changing ip addresses

    is there a way to fix your windows 7 professional guest host os ipaddress so it does not change every time you startup? I am currently using NAT for networking and would like to remain using this networking method if possible. In older versions of windows this never used to be a problem in vmware so I am wondering if I am missing a setting in windows 7 professional or in vmware. thank you for your help, chris
