• How does Read-Only affect a Directory?

  I've found that I can write (say, copy a file into) a Read-Only directory. That is, a Directory with ...Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly.I can even change its name. The only thing I've found that can't be done is to delete it. Is that really the only thing that ReadOnly prevents? EDIT: Here's the code: (The Directory is empty.) (new DirectoryInfo(path)).Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly; Directory.Delete(path); It throws an Access to the path 'c:\... is denied. exception. But after changing ReadOnly to Normal it works fine. So what does a ReadOnly prevent, and what doesn't it prevent?

• URLs with query stripped of ampersands appearing in error logs

  I've noticed a curious phenomena popping up in my error logs recently. If, as the result of processing a form, I redirect my users to the URL http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=bar&bar=baz, I will see the following two URLs in my log http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=barbar=baz http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=bar&bar=baz The first one is obviously incorrect and will cause my application to redirect to a 404. It always appears first, usually a second before the second one. The 404 page is not doing the redirection, so it appears that the browser is trying both versions. At first, looking at my server logs made me believe it affected only Firefox 3.6.3, but I've found an example of Safari being afflicted as well. It happens fairly intermittently, though it can occur multiple times in a users' session. I've never been able to get it to happen to me. Any thoughts as to the nature of the problem or a solution?

• Getting MVC default route to go to ~/default.asp

  I am adding some MVC features to an existing site (FWIW, most of which is in classic ASP). As a result, I need to keep the default routing going to ~/default.asp (at a minimum - preferably the default document specified in IIS). Is there a way to write the route in RegisterRoutes so that a request for the root of the site (e.g., http://localhost, http://localhost/, or http://localhost/default.asp) will directly get the default page, and not attempt to find a controller/action? Or do I need to write my own HttpModule that will filter it and keep it from getting to the MvcHandler (as in this blog)? BTW, I have googled this, but most of the hits are for MVC version 1 or older, and default routing appears to have changed in version 2 (i.e, there is no more default.aspx that redirects to ~/Home), so they are not directly applicable. Even so, the ones that were there didn't address this problem.

  I'm done some Googling, and I've found nothing. I'm scoping out writing a plugin for an editor I use, and I am wondering whether there is a way I can access the PHP documentation via an API? For instance, I'd like to get raw access to the information (besides the comments) located here: http://php.net/file_exists. php.net seemingly uses MediaWiki which provides an API. The tutorial provides the example URL, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=login&format=xml. This does not work for php.net, however (http://php.net/w/api.php?action=login&format=xml). I'm just looking for a little information on how to interface with the PHP documentation.

• Color Schemes don't look right in CLI vim

  I was having a bit of trouble reading the dark red strings of Vim's default color scheme, so I decided to switch to a different one. http://code.google.com/p/vimcolorsch...kboard.vim?r=2 http://files.werx.dk/wombat.vim However, when I set my color schemes to these, not only do they not come out correctly (for example, comments are bright blue), but these 2 somehow come out looking exactly the same! Am I doing something wrong, or are these colors restricted in the terminal so default colors are being chosen?

  Hi Gods, We have windows server 2003 with isa 2004. Our clients uses internet with proxy. We have two isa rule: order name action protocolls from/listener to condition 1. trafic ALLOW all outbound all networks all networks all users 2. FTP ALLOW FTP Server EXTERNAL/INTERNAL/Local host 10.1.1.1 So we have to "bann" a few webpage (like facebook, youtube...etc...), so we make a new rule 0. banned DENY HTTP internal denied pages all users In the denied pages we have the *.facebook.com domain set. After we enable this rule, the entire internet slows down. The banning rule works well, redirect to an internal site, but the other sites.... If i open a page..it normally takes 3-10 sec to load, but after this rule this time is: 2-4 minutes. • How to structure a multilingual website for search engines?

  I have this website which decides on the display language by a GET parameter. http://www.mysite.com/index.php?page=home&locale=en which is rewritten as http://www.mysite.com/en/home When no language is specified, the system defaults to English (en). Now how do I tell the search engines that many versions of the website exist? When the search bot enters the site, it will trigger the default English Language and after finishing, will just leave the site without considering other languages. I can very well have a sitemap with links to the default pages of each language, so the bot can navigate from there. But how do I say the bot that the entry in the sitemap is the home page for that language? Like if someone searches for 'mi sitio', they should be presented with the result http://www.mysite.com/es/home and not some other internal page. Any light on this? Thanks.

• Can't create admin user on Heroku

  I am new to rails and I have gone through Kevin Skoglund's Ruby on Rails 3 Essential Training course on Lynda.com. Through the course you set up a simple cms, which I did. It doesn't cover Git or deployment but I've pushed my simple cms to github (https://github.com/nick5a1/Simple_CMS) and deployed to Heroku (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/). In order to deploy to Heroku I followed the Heroku setup guide (https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/rails3) and switched my database from MySQL to PostgreSQL. As instructed I changed gen'mysql2' to gen 'sqlite3' in my Gemfile and ran bundle install before pushing. I then ran heroku run rake db:migrate. I'm running into 2 problems. When I try to log in (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/access) I get an error "We're sorry, but something went wrong". I should instead be getting a flash message with invalid username/password combination. This is what I'm getting on my test environment on my local machine. Secondly, when I log into the Heroku console to create and create an admin user, when I try to save that user I get the following error: irb(main):004:0> user.save (1.2ms) BEGIN AdminUser Exists (1.9ms) SELECT 1 AS one FROM "admin_users" WHERE "admin_users"."username" = 'Nick5a1' LIMIT 1 (1.7ms) ROLLBACK => false Any advice on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated :). • Unable to access certain websites from a computer

  One of the desktop computers in my office is unable to access some particular websites. We've tried from Chrome, IE, Firefox, but no luck. eg: http://spsims.wto.org/ -> click on "Regular notifications" On the affected computer, every browser times out after the click. Whereas it should redirect the user to http://spsims.wto.org/web/pages/search/notification/regular/Search.aspx How can I diagnose this further? This is a Windows XP machine.

In the UploadHander.php I have the following settings 'script_url' => $this->get_full_url().'/', 'upload_dir' => dirname($_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME']).'./images/machinery/', 'upload_url' => $this->get_full_url().'./images/machinery/', This results in an image uploaded url that looks like this http://domain.com/rcsetch/up/server/php/machinery/image.jpg Other than putting my php files in the root of the website, im not sure how to get it to work, as what I want it to do is upload the files to http://domain.com/images/machinery and not to the create a folder in the directory where all the php files for the uploader are located.

  hi there, i`m using sql server ce together with sync framework. however, sync framework creates some system tables when calling the CreateSchema() method of the SqlCeClientSyncProvider. (e.g. __sysSyncArticle, __sysSyncSubscription, ...). i'm not able to delete these tables with sql statements within Visual Studio. (states that "drop table is not supported") and when trying to just create a SqlCeCommand i get a message that the specified tables does not exist. what does it take to delete sql ce system tables programmatically? thanks

  I need to make a little JS app to scroll automatically through a list of URLs. I've chosen to have the functionality in a pop-up, for various reasons. The syntax to change the opening window's URL is: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example.com"; This works fine with one URL, but if two statements are called, only one is executed. I experimented with an alert statement between two of the above statements, and the alert event made the second statement function properly: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example1.com"; alert("hello world"); window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example2.com"; Question is: does anyone know how to get the first and second window.opener statements to work, without the intervening alert();? Also, how can I add a pause between the two statements, so that the second executes a couple of seconds after the first? Thanks so much!

  I have a web service with following operation contract and my service is hosted at http://localhost:9002/Service.svc/ [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/Files/{Filepath}")] Stream DownloadFile(string Filepath); This web service would let users download file, if the proper filepath is provided (assuming, I somehow find out that proper filepath). Now, I can access this service from a browser by typing, http://localhost:9002/Service.svc/Files/(Filepath} If {filepath} is some simple string, its not a problem, but I want to send the location of the file. Lets us say users want to download file C:\Test.mp3 on the server. But how can I pass C:\Test.mp3 as {Filepath}? I get an error when I type http://localhost:9002/Service.svc/Files/C:\Test.mp3 in the browser. I am new to web services and find that this community is the quickest way to get answers to my questions.

• Not able to disable incognito mode in chrome with windows 8

  I have windows 8 and chrome version 28 but the steps which was said with the links below is not working. It still shows me incognito mode as enabled. http://dev.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoModeAvailability or http://dev.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoEnabled I did all the steps as mentioned and restarted the system too.   Let's suppose exist a site with the following directories (subdomain) index.php |-sub1 |-index.php |-sub1sub1 |-index.php |-other.php |-sub1sub1sub1 |-sub2 |-index.php |- …. |-sub3 |- ... My question is: 1) how can I display properly locally the site of the sub1 subdomain (http://domain/sub1) 2) how can I get just the files and directory which are childs of sub1 (sub1sub1 and sub1sub1sub1 for example) I tried the following options (for wget) but it retrieves also the files and directories which are in sub2, sub3 etc.. wget -E -H -k -K -r http://domain/sub1/index.php
