• Unable to setup ssh tunnel on mac

  On my office windows XP laptop I use a program called Bitvise Tunnelier to establish ssh tunnel to a in-house MySQL database. In the Tunnelier program I also need to provide address of corporate http proxy server in order to establish tunnel. On my personal mac laptop, I use Cisco Anywhere client to establish a VPN connection to my corporate network. But i'm unable to establish ssh tunnel to mysql database using ssh. How do I specify the proxy server address in the ssh command? As additional info when i'm using office laptop (whether in home or office) I can successfully ping to the server address specified in the Tunnelier program. But i cannot ping the same server using my mac machine (even after connecting via VPN). So basically i'm unable to understand what's going on and what steps i can take to debug this problem .

  I need to connect to a MongoDB instance from my EJB3 application, running on glassfish 3.0.1. The Mongo project provides a set of drivers, and I'm able to use them in a standalone Java application. How would I use them in a JEE application? Or maybe better phrasing: how would I make a 3rd party library available to my application when it runs in an EJB container?   I am trying to query the following registry key values: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SharedMemoryOn HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SuperSocketNetLib\ProtocolOrder But depending on which machine I'm running the program the query returns null. • Cant logon to domain over site-to-site vpn

  Tied together branch office with main office over two Cisco ASAs. The (internal) networks on either side can communicate with the other. I can ping, use the DC's DNS service and even join a domain on a new client. I can't however logon, I get the "domain controller is not available" error message on client. I find nothing peculiar in DC's event logs. Sicne it's site-to-site (with ping), it's always up so it should work. No firewall rules (except allow any any) between the two networks (of either side). Main site internal net: 10.10.10.0/24 Branch office net: 10.180.3.0/24 Am I overlooking something here? Where should I start investigating this?d

  Client has got many sub-offices, and one head office. Headoffice has a domain name: business.com all users in the many sub-offices need to have a headoffice email address: [email protected] Anyone not in head office will need the email forwarded to an external email address. All users in head office will have their email delivered to exchange. Users are listed in active directory under 2 different OU's. "HeadOffice" or "SubOffice". Is this something able to be configured? I've done some googling, but I can't find any examples or businesses set up this way. Thanks

• How can I prevent my domain controller doing forward lookups for remote users?

  I have a Windows Server 2003 server in the office. I VPN into the LAN remotely. My VPN has a virtual NIC with the Windows Server as the primary DNS since it is a domain controller. When connected to the VPN and I do an nslookup or simply browse the web the DNS from the VPN provides the DNS answers. I believe this is because it has DNS forwarders, so queries it can't answer are forwarded and then it relays the answer. This is the desired behavior for workstations in the office (they should query their domain controller first); however for remote VPN users this is not desirable. I do not want my remote office's server to answer DNS queries it is not the authority of (which happens to be 192.168.x.x). Is there any way I can configure this?

• Box.com file sharing - How are you managing concurrent document access and file locks? [closed]

  My company is evaluating Box.com as a file server replacement. It's file locking behavior for concurrent access to files seems incomplete. Specifically, files are not locked* (either exclusive or read-only) when they are being edited by Office or similar programs. This inevitably results in multiple versions of documents as concurrent access results in change conflicts. *The exception is when the file is edited using Zoho Docs - perhaps other web-based office suites as well. Box provides multiple options for editing documents, including Google Docs, a local copy of Office or similar, Zoho Docs and others. If you are using Box how have you managed or worked around this behavior?

• ASP.net AppendHeader not working in ASP MVC

  I'm having problems getting AppendHeader to work properly if I am also using an authorize filter. I'm using an actionfilter for my AJAX actions that applies Expires, Last-Modified, Cache-Control and Pragma (though while testing I have tried including it in the action method itself with no change in results). If I don't have an authorize filter the headers work fine. Once I add the filter the headers I tried to add get stripped.   Below is the xml content generated by TFPT for the WIQL issued. When I try to import this XML into Excel 2007 XML source pane shows only "Id", "RefName" and "Value" as fields to be mapped.   Introduction I've always been searching for a way to make Visual Studio draw a line after a certain amount of characters: Below is a guide to enable these so called guidelines for various versions of Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2010 Install Paul Harrington's Editor Guidelines extension. Open the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Text Editor and add a new string called Guides with the value RGB(100,100,100), 80. The first part specifies the color, while the other one (80) is the column the line will be displayed. Or install the Guidelines UI extension, which will add entries to the editor's context menu for adding/removing the entries without needing to edit the registry directly. The current disadvantage of this method is that you can't specify the column directly. Visual Studio 2008 and Other Versions If you are using Visual Studio 2008 open the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Text Editor and add a new string called Guides with the value RGB(100,100,100), 80. The first part specifies the color, while the other one (80) is the column the line will be displayed. The vertical line will appear, when you restart Visual Studio.   Hi All, We use the caching and logging application blocks from entlib 4.1. We want to keep the configuration of those two in seperate files. How can we achieve this? It looks like entlib is always using the selectedSource as it configuration. • Bootstrapper (setup.exe) says ".NET 3.5 not found" but launching .msi directly installs application

  Our installer generates a bootstrapper (setup.exe) and a MSI file - a pretty common scenario. One of the production machines reports a strange problem during install: If the user launches the bootstrapper (setup.exe), it reports that .NET 3.5 is not installed. This happens with account under administator group. No matter if they launch it as administrator or not, same behavior. the application installs fine when application.msi or OurInstallLauncher.exe (see below for explanation) is started directly no matter if run as administrator is applied. We have checked that .NET is installed on the machine (both 64bit and 32bit "versions" = under both C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64 and C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework there is a folder named v3.5. This happens on a 64 bit Windows 7. I can not reproduce it on my development 64 bit Windows 7. On Windows XP and Vista, it has worked without any problem for a long time so far. • Howto print from dumb terminals with local print server and remote hosted RDP

  We have essentially a remote office with about 5 dumb terminals. The terminals are connecting to our office directly over a wireless link. What I want to do is connect all their printers onto a print server. But since the remote office is not actually allowed to see our LAN (since they are actually another company) we don't want a full on open VPN tunnel set up. Naturally the RDP traffic passes through a firewall. Is there an easy way to set up the RDP server so that it can see a print server on a remote LAN?

  There is a file server in my office that is not connected to my office LAN. In this server there are folders that are shared. This server is connected to a switch and a wireless router. Everyone who wants to access this server uses wireless network connection. They log in to this server by providing user name and password registered to the server. Some people can log in to my office file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format, while other must use (the server IP address)/(user name) format. Why is it like this? I need everyone can access the file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format. I have tried to change the %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, as some suggested, but it won't work. Any other suggestion?

• How can I run a BitchX when I don't have ssh or shell access?

  I just installed an IRC bot, B****X (Don't ask, I don't know - the real name is not censored). I did all of the configuration and chmod'ed the pl files to 755, but running it won't work. My host does not allow SSH/Shell (which is how the documentation says to runs he script), but just going to the URL usually works because of this. However, I get a 500 (Internal Server Error) error.   Hello! I have such situation - I'd like to build timeline control. So I have UserControl and ItemsControl on it (every row represents some person). The ItemsControl contains another ItemsControl as ItemsControl.ItemTemplate - it shows e.g. events for the person arranged by event's date. So it looks as some kind of grid with dates as a column headers and e.g. peoples as row headers. ........................|.2010.01.01.....2010.01.02.....2010.01.03 Adam Smith....|......[some event#1].....[some event#2]...... John Dow.......|...[some event#3].....[some event#4]......... I can have a lot of persons (ItemsControl #1 - 100-200 items) and a lot of events occured by some day (1-10-30 events per person in one day) the problem is that when user scrolls ItemsControl #1/#2 it happened toooo sloooooowwww due to a lot of elements should be rendered in one time (as I have e.g. a bit of text boxes and other elements in description of particular event) Question #1 - how can I improve it? May be somebody knows better way to build such user control? I have to mention that I'm using custom Virtual panel, based on some custom Virtual panel implementation found somewhere in internet... Question #2 - I'd like to make image with help of WriteableBitmap and render data bound control to image and to show image instead of a lot of elements. Problem is that I'm trying to render invisible data bound control (created in code behind) and it has actualWidth/Height equals to zero (so nothing rendered). How can I solve it? • Regex statements for date ranges <=4/1/2009 and <=10/01/2009

  Hi, I need serious help building two Regex statements for a project. The software we're using ONLY accepts Regex for validation. I need one that fires for any date <4/1/2009 and a second that fires for any date <10/1/2009 My co-worker gave me the following code to check for <=10/01/2010, but it checks leap years and all that stuff. I need something a little more streamlined than this in the MM/DD/YYYY format. • Developer Laptop with SQL Server 2008 can't login to SSIS when offsite

  When I bring my Windows XP (SP3) laptop home I can still login as my domain account because Windows caches the info necessary to authenticate me when the domain controller isn't around. However, when I try to connect to Integration Services from within SQL Server Management Studio, it generates SSPI context errors. The only way it works is if I connect to the office with VPN or if I'm at the office where the domain controller is. I have both SQL Server Agent and SQL Server Integration Services 10 running under local computer accounts. It seems that the only option to connect to Integration Services from within Management Studio is to use Window authentication. Is there any way to do this when I'm not connected to the office? Why don't these services use the cached info just like Windows Login? Thanks.

  Hello, I am owning a small company and we have purchased a server to setup few server applications on it as well as other software. We would like to setup our network in following way Internet<-WindowsServer2003 as router<-Switch<-Office Computers Server has two nic interfaces and we have 24ports 1GB network switch connected to one nic and internet connection to another nic. Our ISP is Frontier and we have Fios 25/25. We get network cable out of ONT box directly connected to our server. There are no modems/routers. Setting up DHCP on windows 2003 is easy job but we would like to have the ability to port forward some ports from office computers. I have some knowledge in networking but not as much. How could I setup FHCP server on win2k3 with the ability to port forward some ports to office computers? Thank you for your time
