  • Compute weighted averages for large numbers

    - by Travis
    I'm trying to get the weighted average of a few numbers. Basically I have: Price - 134.42 Quantity - 15236545 There can be as few as one or two or as many as fifty or sixty pairs of prices and quantities. I need to figure out the weighted average of the price. Basically, the weighted average should give very little weight to pairs like Price - 100000000.00 Quantity - 3 and more to the pair above. The formula I currently have is: ((price)(quantity) + (price)(quantity) + ...)/totalQuantity So far I have this done: double optimalPrice = 0; int totalQuantity = 0; double rolling = 0; System.out.println(rolling); Iterator it = orders.entrySet().iterator(); while(it.hasNext()) { System.out.println("inside"); Map.Entry order = (Map.Entry)it.next(); double price = (Double)order.getKey(); int quantity = (Integer)order.getValue(); System.out.println(price + " " + quantity); rolling += price * quantity; totalQuantity += quantity; System.out.println(rolling); } System.out.println(rolling); return totalQuantity / rolling; The problem is I very quickly max out the "rolling" variable. How can I actually get my weighted average? Thanks!

  • Dynamically class creating by using Java Reflection, java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

    - by rubby
    Hi all; i want to use reflection in java, i want to do that third class will read the name of the class as String from console. Upon reading the name of the class, it will automatically and dynamically (!) generate that class and call its writeout method. If that class is not read from input, it will not be initialized. I wrote that codes but i am always taking to "java.lang.Class.Not.Found.Exception", and i don't know how i can fix it. Can anyone help me? class class3 { public Object dynamicsinif(String className, String fieldName, String value) throws Exception { Class cls = Class.forName(className,true,null); Object obj = cls.newInstance(); Field fld = cls.getField(fieldName); fld.set(obj, value); return obj; } public void writeout3() { System.out.println("class3"); } } public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { System.out.println("enter the class name : "); BufferedReader reader= new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); String line=reader.readLine(); String x="Text1"; try{ class3 trycls=new class3(); Object gelen=trycls.dynamicsinif(line, x, "rubby"); Class yeni=(Class)gelen; System.out.println(yeni); }catch(ClassNotFoundException ex){ System.out.print(ex.toString()); } } }

  • What is the best tool to achieve this API design?

    - by Jose Fernandez
    Our web app offers a service that allows a "Publisher" to create a website (we give them a CMS system) that is ready to provide this service to "Members" (think Shopify). We have some possible clients that wish to become "Publishers" but they already have existing websites (vbulletin, word press blog, etc) with their own user base. We wish to develop an API that would allow these "Publishers" to keep using their own websites, and embed our services into them. Our main business requirement is that once "Members" are logged into the "Publishers" existing system, they should be able to also access our website without having to log-in again OR have to create another account there. The process should be seamless to the "Member" and "Publishers" should not have to sync their user base with our system. We also want to use an existing API authentication/authorization system instead of creating our own (OAuth, OpenID, etc) What would be the best way to use OAuth to achieve this sigle-sign on design? If OAuth is not the best tool, is there any other one out there that fits our requirements?

  • OpenGL: Disable texture colors?

    - by Newbie
    Is it possible to disable texture colors, and use only white as the color? It would still read the texture, so i cant use glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D) because i want to render the alpha channels too. All i can think of now is to make new texture where all color data is white, remaining alpha as it is. I need to do this without shaders, so is this even possible?

  • Why my async call does not work?

    - by Petr
    Hi, I am trying to understand what is IAsyncresult good and therefore I wrote this code. The problem is it behaves as I called "MetodaAsync" normal way. While debugging, the program stops here until the method completed. Any help appreciated, thank you. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { delegate int Delegat(); static void Main(string[] args) { Program p=new Program(); Delegat d = new Delegat(p.MetodaAsync); IAsyncResult a = d.BeginInvoke(null, null); //I have removed callback int returned=d.EndInvoke(a); Console.WriteLine("AAA"); } private int MetodaAsync() { int AC=0; for (int I = 0; I < 600000; I++) { for (int A = 0; A < 6000000; A++) { } Console.Write("B"); } return AC; } } }

  • How to encrypt information in aspx page?

    - by Jimmyc
    Hi all, I know it's a silly question but , My client asked for encrypting some information form their payment system to prevent user stealing personal information. The system is web-base and written by ASP.NET We have tried some annoying solution such as JavaScript no right-click or css-no-print but apparently my client didn't like it. so are there any commercial solution to encrypt information in aspx produced html pages? or someone can tell me how to pursuit my client to stop these "prevent stealing" idea in a web-base system?

  • Soften a colour border, maybe with a gradient, programmatically.

    - by ProfK
    I have a narrow header in corporate colour, bright red, with the content below on a just-off-white background. Ive tried softening the long line where these colours meet using border type divs with intermediate backgrounds, but I think I need the original type curved gradient 'area transitions'. I could copy the 1024px wide, and too narrow (vertically), header gif from their web site, and chop it up for eight border images, but that seems clumsy, and I'm looking for something I can apply anywhere, without needing images. I am able to do round borders in the x-y plane, but I'm curious as to how I can apply a gradient to any chosen colour transition. The extra divs I'm using as border elements above and below '#top-section' arose when I was toying with making many divs for one bordered element. This seemed the ultimate in border manipulation, sans code, but very tedious to spec in CSS and lay out a new border for each bordered element. <div id="topsection"> <div style="float: right; width: 300px; padding-right: 5px;"> <div style="font-size: small; text-align: right;"> Provantage Media Management System</div> <div style="font-size: x-small; text-align: right;"> <asp:LoginStatus ID="loginStatus" runat="server" LoginText="Log in" LogoutText="Log out" /> </div> </div> <span style="padding-left: 15px;">Main Menu</span><span id="content-title"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="titlePlaceHolder" runat="server"> </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </span> <div style="background-color: white; height: 2px;"> </div> <div style="background-color: white; height: 3px;"></div> And the CSS: #topsection { background-color: #EB2728; color: white; height: 35px; font-size: large; font-weight: bold; }

  • Can you set a gradient brush for a listboxitem background in silverlight?

    - by Michael
    I am looking for a way to set a gradientbrush as the background for a listbox item. I have a DataTemplate defined and have specified a gradient brush but it always appears as the listbox background (i.e. it never shows as a gradient brush). I have been able to set the background of the listbox itself, and I can set the listboxitem's background to a standard color using the "setter" object....but none of these are what I am after. I really want the background on each list item to be a gradient brush. Below is the datatemplate that I have constructed. <ListBox Name="MyListBox" Margin="12,67,12,169"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Height="51" VerticalAlignment="Bottom"> <Grid.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC9F4D0"/> <GradientStop Color="#FF2AC12A" Offset="0.333"/> <GradientStop Color="#FF35DE35" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </Grid.Background> <Canvas > <dataInput:Label Width="227" Foreground="Yellow" Canvas.Left="158" Canvas.Top="8" Content="{Binding Place}"/> <dataInput:Label Width="146" Foreground="Yellow" Canvas.Left="8" Canvas.Top="8" Content="{Binding Date}"/> <dataInput:Label Content="{Binding People}" Width="346" FontSize="9.333" Foreground="Black" Canvas.Left="166" Canvas.Top="28"/> <!-- <dataInput:Label Width="45" Content="Accept" Foreground="White" Canvas.Left="8" Canvas.Top="28"/> <dataInput:Label Width="45" Content="Decline" Foreground="White" Canvas.Left="57" Canvas.Top="28"/> --> <dataInput:Label Content="SomeText" Width="101" FontSize="9.333" Foreground="White" Canvas.Left="389" Canvas.Top="10"/> <Image Height="21" Width="21" Canvas.Left="500" Canvas.Top="8" Source="Green Button.png"/> </Canvas> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Any Thoughts?

  • Upgrading website from VS2005(2.0 Framework) to VS2008(2.0 Framework)

    - by Sravan
    We have a website that is created in VS2005 Recently we upgraded the website to VS2008 with 2.0 framework. While compiling the website Compilation errors are occuring i.e Licenses.licx file is not compiling, if it compile than it will reproduces an AppLicenses.dll. In the licensing.licx file containing one class and a namespace(i.e. OSADirectLicensing.OSADirectLicensedClass, OSADirectLicensing). The compilation error is as follows: Error 1 C:\Program Files\Sharp\Sharp Developer Tools\OSA SDK\Samples\DirectOSA\ExternalAuthority\licenses.licx: Could not transform licenses file into a binary resource. (1) : error LC0004 : Exception occurred creating type 'OSADirectLicensing.OSADirectLicensedClass, OSADirectLicensing, Version=1.0.4006.31768, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null System.ComponentModel.LicenseException: Invalid License at System.ComponentModel.LicenseManager.CreateWithContext(Type type, LicenseContext creationContext, Object[] args) at System.ComponentModel.LicenseManager.CreateWithContext(Type type, LicenseContext creationContext) at System.Tools.LicenseCompiler.GenerateLicenses(String fileContents, String targetPE, ITypeResolutionService resolver, DesigntimeLicenseContext ctx)' . Does VS2008 support licenses.licx or not? We should not remove this file from website. How can we solve this issue?

  • How do I get the co-ordinates of a mouse click on a transformed WPF control?

    - by BlackWasp
    I'm playing with a simple WPF application. One part of it includes a grid containing several controls. The grid is rotated using a LayoutTransform and a RotateTransform. I need to get the co-ordinates of a mouse-click relative to the top-left of the grid, taking the rotation into account. To be clear, let's say I have a single drawing surface within the grid and no transform had been applied. I then click at location X = 20, Y = 10 and put a dot on the drawing surface at that point. If the grid is now rotated by 30 degrees and I click on the dot (which is also moved by the rotation), the click position should still be X = 20, Y = 10.

  • Convert text box text into Argb argument

    - by Jimmy
    I have been looking into coloring objects like ellipses with code such as SolidBrush trnsRedBrush = new SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(0x78FF0000)); I'd like to play around further with this by entering FromArgb's argument into a textbox on a form, then using the textbox to set the Brush's color. How would I convert the textbox's text into an argument usable by FromArgb?

  • Alias for EditorAttribute

    - by Johan
    Is there a way to create a shorter alias for an EditorAttribute? Instead of: [EditorAttribute(typeof<ColorPickerDialogPropertyValueEditor>, typeof<DialogPropertyValueEditor>)] public Color4 Color { get; set; } I would like to write: using ColorPicker = EditorAttribute(typeof<ColorPickerDialogPropertyValueEditor>, typeof<DialogPropertyValueEditor>) [ColorPicker] public Color4 Color { get; set; } Unfortunately the EditorAttribute class is sealed so I cannot inherit it.

  • Broken console in Maven project using Netbeans

    - by Maciek Sawicki
    Hi, I have strange problem with my Neatens+Maven installation. This is the shortest code to reproduce the problem: public class App { public static void main( String[] args ) { // Create a scanner to read from keyboard Scanner scanner = new Scanner (System.in); Scanner s= new Scanner(System.in); String param= s.next(); System.out.println(param); } } When I'm running it as Maven Project inside Netbeans console seems to be broken. It just ignores my input. It's look like infinitive loop in System.out.println(param);. However this project works fine when it's compiled as "Java Aplication" project. It also works O.K. if I build and run it from cmd. System info: Os: Vista IDE: Netbeans 6.8 Maven: apache-maven-2.2.1 //edit Built program (using mavean from Netbeans) works fine. I just can't test it using Net beans. And I think I forgot to ask the question ;). So of course my first question is: how can I fix this problem? And second is: Is it any workaround for this? For example configuring Netbeans to run external commend line app instead of using built in console.

  • Is it OK to pass SQLCommand as a parameter?

    - by TooFat
    I have a Business Layer that passes a Conn string and a SQLCommand to a Data Layer like so public void PopulateLocalData() { System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand cmd = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(); cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.CommandText = "usp_PopulateServiceSurveyLocal"; DataLayer.DataProvider.ExecSQL(ConnString, cmd); } The DataLayer then just executes the sql like so public static int ExecSQL(string sqlConnString, System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand cmd) { int rowsAffected; using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(sqlConnString)) { conn.Open(); cmd.Connection = conn; rowsAffected = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); cmd.Dispose(); } return rowsAffected; } Is it OK for me to pass the SQLCommand as a parameter like this or is there a better more accepted way of doing it. One of my concerns is if an error occurs when executing the query the cmd.dispose line will never execute. Does that mean it will continue to use up memory that will never be released?

  • C2360 compiler error on TFS build, but not on desktop

    - by pdmaguire
    A c++ code snippet similar to the code below caused our TFS build to fail with a C2360 compiler error. switch (i) { case 0 : for each (int n in a) System::Console::WriteLine(n.ToString()); break; case 1 : System::Console::WriteLine("n is not in scope here"); break; } This is fixed by using {} brackets within the body of case 0, as below: switch (i) { case 0 : { for each (int n in a) System::Console::WriteLine(n.ToString()); } break; case 1 : System::Console::WriteLine("n is not in scope here"); break; } The developer had successfully compiled the code on their desktop before committing the changes. A cursory look at versions of things like compilers, Visual Studio etc on the server and desktop suggest they are the same. The source code is the same, obviously. What is the difference between a desktop build and TFS build that would smother a compiler error like this?

  • Sending email using Java, connecting to a gmail host hangs

    - by Tot
    I would like to send emails via Java code. I added in my library the following .JARs: log4j.jar, smtp.jar, mailapi.jar,ctivation.jar. And my Java class looks like this: import java.util.Properties; import javax.mail.*; import javax.mail.internet.*; public class SendEmail { public static void main(String [] args) { String to = "[email protected]"; String from = "[email protected]"; String host = "smtp.gmail.com"; Properties properties = System.getProperties(); properties.setProperty("mail.smtp.host", host); properties.setProperty("mail.smtp.starttls.enable", "true"); properties.setProperty("mail.smtp.auth", "true"); SmtpAuthenticator authentication = new SmtpAuthenticator(); javax.mail.Message msg = new MimeMessage(Session .getInstance(properties, authentication)); try { msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from)); msg.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to)); msg.setSubject("Subject"); msg.setText("Working fine..!"); System.out.println("fine1 !!"); Transport transport = Session.getDefaultInstance( properties , null).getTransport("smtp"); System.out.println("fine2 !!"); transport.connect("smtp.gmail.com" , 465 , "username", "password"); System.out.println("fine3 !!"); Transport.send(msg); System.out.println("fine!!"); } catch(Exception exc) { System.out.println(exc); } } } My SmtpAuthenticator class: import javax.mail.Authenticator; import javax.mail.PasswordAuthentication; public class SmtpAuthenticator extends Authenticator { public SmtpAuthenticator() { super(); } @Override public PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication() { String username = "user"; String password = "password"; if ((username != null) && (username.length() > 0) && (password != null) && (password.length() > 0)) { return new PasswordAuthentication(username, password); } return null; } } When i run my Java application class it prints: fine1 !! fine2 !! And it hangs. How can I get rid of this problem?

  • How to read data from file(.dat) in append mode

    - by govardhan
    We have an application which requires us to read data from a file (.dat) dynamically using deserialization. We are actually getting first object and it throws null pointer exception and "java.io.StreamCorruptedException:invalid type code:AC" when we are accessing other objects using a "for" loop. File file=null; FileOutputStream fos=null; BufferedOutputStream bos=null; ObjectOutputStream oos=null; try{ file=new File("account4.dat"); fos=new FileOutputStream(file,true); bos=new BufferedOutputStream(fos); oos=new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(m); System.out.println("object serialized"); amlist=new MemberAccountList(); oos.close(); } catch(Exception ex){ ex.printStackTrace(); } Reading objects: try{ MemberAccount m1; file=new File("account4.dat");//add your code here fis=new FileInputStream(file); bis=new BufferedInputStream(fis); ois=new ObjectInputStream(bis); System.out.println(ois.readObject()); **while(ois.readObject()!=null){ m1=(MemberAccount)ois.readObject(); System.out.println(m1.toString()); }/*mList.addElement(m1);** // Here we have the issue throwing null pointer exception Enumeration elist=mList.elements(); while(elist.hasMoreElements()){ obj=elist.nextElement(); System.out.println(obj.toString()); }*/ } catch(ClassNotFoundException e){ } catch(EOFException e){ System.out.println("end"); } catch(Exception ex){ ex.printStackTrace(); }

  • Allow for modular development while still running in same JVM?

    - by Marcus
    Our current app runs in a single JVM. We are now splitting up the app into separate logical services where each service runs in its own JVM. The split is being done to allow a single service to be modified and deployed without impacting the entire system. This reduces the need to QA the entire system - just need to QA the interaction with the service being changed. For inter service communication we use a combination of REST, an MQ system bus, and database views. What I don't like about this: REST means we have to marshal data to/from XML DB views couple the systems together which defeats the whole concept of separate services MQ / system bus is added complexity There is inevitably some code duplication between services You have set up n JBoss server configurations, we have to do n number of deployments, n number of set up scripts, etc, etc. Is there a better way to structure an internal application to allow modular development and deployment while allowing the app to run in a single JVM (and achieving the associated benefits)?
