• Using pyodbc to insert rows into a MS Access MDB, how do I escape the paramaters?

  Hi, I'm using pyodbc to talk to a legacy Access 2000 .mdb file. I've got a cursor, and am trying to execute this: c.execute("INSERT INTO [Accounts] ([Name], [TypeID], [StatusID], [AccountCat], [id]) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?)", [u'test', 20, 10, 4, 2]) However, doing so results in pyodbc.Error: ('HYC00', '[HYC00] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Optional feature not implemented (106) (SQLBindParameter)') I understand I can simply change the question marks to the literal values, but in my experience proper escaping of strings across databases is... not pretty. PHP and mysql team up to bring mysql_real_escape_string and friends, but I can't seem to find pyodbc's function for escaping values. If you could let me know what the recommended way of inserting this data (from python) is, that'd be very helpful. Alternatively, if you have a python function to escape the odbc strings, that would also be great. Thanks for the help.

• Best way to pass image to server?

  I have an SL3 application that needs to be able to pass an image to the server, and then the server will generate a PDF file with the image in it, and display it to the user. What I already have in place are the following: (1) Code to convert image to byte array (2) Code to generate PDF file with image The main problem that I am running into is the following: In order to bypass the pop-up blocker, which is a requirement for my application, I am using the following code: var button = new NavigationButton(); button.NavigateUri = new Uri("http://localhost:3616/PrintReport.aspx?ReportIndex=11&ActionType=Get&ReportIdentifier=" + reportIdentifier.ToString() + ""); button.TargetName = "_blank"; button.PerformClick(); Initially, I would pass the image to a WCF web service (as a byte array), and then "navigate" to the ASP.NET page that would display the report. However, if I do this, then I can not use my custom HyperlinkButton class, and, certain browsers, including Safari, will block a new window from opening up. Therefore, it appears that the only option is to use the HyperlinkButton class. What I need to be able to do is to somehow pass the image, as a byte array or some other data type, to the server, such that it can temporarily store the image, even if it is in a server variable, and then immediately retrieve it when I navigate to the PrintReport.aspx page. If I upload the image to an ASP.NET form and then use the HyperlinkButton class to navigate to the PrintReport page, it doesn't work, as the app navigates to the PrintReport page before the system has finished uploading the image. I can't pass it to a web service, as that would require that I navigate to the PrintReport.aspx page in the callback code of the web method that I would be passing the image to, and the HyperlinkButton will not allow that, based on security rules.   I'm running windows 7 64-bit and iis7. I'm trying to setup a web application that was previously in iis6 on XP. It's giving me the error below. I've added the network service user to the Performance Monitor Users group to no avail. Access to the registry key 'Global' is denied. • Unable to send email on production server with ASP.NET MVC

  I have a simple ASP.NET MVC application with a contact page. In my development machine (local) I can send successfully emails (I specify host and credentials), but on the production server this doesn't work and I get this error: System.Net.Mail.SmtpFailedRecipientException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or not local at System.Net.Mail.SmtpTransport.SendMail... The server is in my LAN (the mail server too). I tried with multiple accounts but I have errors every time. Credentials for the account are provided at runtime with smtp.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password"); Any idea? • Google OpenID changes?!?!?

  I'm trying to implement OpenId login for a web application. Whenever new user who logs in via OpenId I create a new user on the sustem, and among the data I store their openid URL, so that next time they login with that user. I'm testing this with my Gmail OpenID, and the problem is that everytime I do this, Google sends a different openid URL, that is, https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=SomethingThatChangesFromTimeToTime Of course I'm then not able to tell wheter this is or not a new user. I'm a bit puzzled: shouldn't the openid identifier always remain the same?

• In App Purchase - can get product info but can't connect to itunes for purchase

  I'm trying to make "In App Purchase " works in my iphone app. I created some products and a few test accounts in itunes connect. I have no problem to retreive the products data (prices etc..) but when I try to make a payment - I am asked to log in - I use a test account - the transaction always fail with the following error : failedTransaction with error : Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=2 "Connexion à l’iTunes Store impossible" UserInfo=0x65d02a0 {NSLocalizedDescription=Connexion à l’iTunes Store impossible} I tried with several products and test account (even in other stores like us) but I still get the same error...   Is there a service that provides latitude and longitude for UK phone numbers? For example: Query: 0141 574 xxx, Returns: (55.8659829, -4.2602205) [Glasgow City Centre] Allow me to stress that I am not looking for a reverse-directory-enquires. I am more interested in 'local area' for things like weather by phone or "Where's my nearest Pizza Shop?" If this service doesn't exist your suggestions on how to implement it or where to get data from would also be incredibly useful. I am aware that Ofcom provides a list of area codes with a place name [1] suitable for geolocation, but I have my concerns about resolution. I see this as a particular problem in smaller towns and rural areas where an area code will cover a large geographical area. Second Example: Area Code: 01555, Ofcom: Lanark However: 01555 860xxx is Crossford (4 miles W of Lanark) 01555 77xxxx is Carluke (5 miles NW) 01555 89xxxx is Lesmahagow (5 miles SW) 01555 840xxx is Carnwath (7 miles NE) Therefore 01555 covers about ~80 sq miles. • How do I set up mod rewrite to do this?

  Hi guys heres the scene - I'm building a web application which basically creates accounts for all users. Currently its setup like this the file structure: root/index.php root/someotherfile.php root/images/image-sub-folder/image.jpg root/js/somejs.js When users create an account they choose a fixed group name and then users can join that group. Initially I thought of having an extra textbox in the login screen to enter the group the user belongs to login to. BUt I would like instead to have something like virtual folders in this case: root/group-name/index.php I heard it can be done with apache mod rewrite but I'm not sure how to do this - any help here? Basically instead of having something like &group-name=yourGroupName appended to every page I would just like something of the nature above.

• Unknown error when submit a REST request to Liferay json API

  I'm writing an script in Python to automatically update the structures in my Liferay portal and I want to do it via the json REST API. I make a request to get an structure (method getStructure), and it worked. • Using $.get with jquery validation

  I'm trying to use the Jquery builtin validator on my page. The issue is that I have certain fields that only are required if the JobID (entered into another field) does not already exist in our database. I have a simple service which simply takes JobID and returns True or False based on whether the JobID exists, but I can't seem to get this information where I want it. I've tried half a dozen different ways of setting variables and calling functions within functions and still cannot get a way to simply return the value of that page (which I've been trying to access with $.get() ) to my validator, so that required is set to true when the Job does not exist and false if the job already exists. • @Autowire strange problem

  Hello, I have a strange behaviour when autowiring I have a similar code like this one, and it works @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2{ ... } The problem is that I need that the Class2 implements an interface so I've only changed the Class2 so it's now like: @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2 implements IServiceReference<Class3, Long>{ ... } public interface IServiceReference<T, PK extends Serializable> { public T reference(PK id); } with this code I get a org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type for Class2. It seems that @ Transitional annotation is not compatible with the interface because if I remove the @Transitional annotation or the "implements IServiceReference" the problem disapears and the bean is injected (though I need to have both in this class). It also happens if I put the annotation @Transitional in the methods instead of in the Class. I use Spring 3.0.2 if this helps. Is not compatible the interface with the transactional method? May it be a Spring bug? Thanks

• How to disable auto-generated WCF configuration

  Every time my program runs vs adds the default configuration to my app.config file. At that run it works fine, but at the next run it actually tries to read the config. The problem is that the default configuration has errors, it adds the attribute "Address", but attritbutes are not allowed to have capitals so it throws an exception. This means I have to remove the bad section every run! I've tried to configure the .config but it gives errors.   Hi, I'm developing an app which has massive data entries. Its like Campaign which has attrs like rate_per_sq_feet, start_date, end_date. i.e it will have max date of around 30 days. Once the campaign is finished, its done and another starts. Now I'm confused that how to store those campaigns as reports so that its not accessed regurlarly. What I mean is to store in such a way that it will act like report on later years to come? Its something like fiscal year on accounts where the previous year reports are stored with all the calculations done so that when retrieved later, all the algorithms and calculations shouldn't be performed. Something like frozen data??

  Our system would like our clients to link their accounts with different social media sites like youtube, vimeo, facebook, myspace and so on. One of the benefits we would like to give to the user is to transfer, update and delete files they have uploaded to our sites and transfer them to the social media sites mentioned above. this files could be videos, images or audio. We started thinking about using a strategy pattern, as all of these sites share a common process ( authentication, connection, use the API to transfer/edit/delete the file ), but we soon realized that it may not work as me may want to use some of the extended functionality that is specific to each service (eg: associate a youtube video with a channel, or upload images to a specific album on facebook, and much, much more...) I used for my test code generated by wsimport. Return element is defined as: @XmlElement(name = "return", nillable = true) protected List<String> _return; I even tested to change the Response class getReturn method from : public List<String> getReturn() { if (_return == null) { _return = new ArrayList<String>(); } return this._return; } to public List<String> getReturn() { return this._return; } but without success. Any helpful information/comment regarding this problem is welcome !

  How do I programmatically read an incoming email with .NET. I need a method to take the content of email message (in this case XML) on a POP server and read it into my application. Ideally this could be solved by: .NET code that I can run as a background task on my webserver to process the email. A service that can POST the contents of the email to my webserver. Although I'm open to other options. EDIT: Copied from the "non-answer": Currently, we're looking at using the email accounts our hosting company provides. Our own mail server could potentially be an option, but its something the we'd need to contact the host about.

  Hi, I've configured google apps (google services) to my domain for access mails some thing like mail.mysite.com. I've configured successfully all the accounts include admin and users also. But here the surpricing thing is I cant able to recieve any mails when i sent mails to [email protected]. But I can able to send mails from the same account ([email protected])to any other email ids.   Here's a regex that I've cobbled up: /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s(\-{76})/is and here's the text I will be parsing: http://p.linode.com/7015 and here's the replacement for the matched text: <item>\n\t<title>$2</title>\n\t<pubDate>$pubDate</pubDate>\n\t<description>$4</description>\n\t<link>$5</link>\n</item>\n\n I have almost come up with a regex needed to parse a block of text into RSS 2.0 XML markup. I've tested it with RegExr and RegexBuddy and it works perfectly except for the last "item" where there is no line breaks after the link (Line 269). In short, the problem is the "iProperty" article in the text is not matched. Any regex gurus willing to help me troubleshoot what's wrong? I've tried /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s*(\-{76})/is Here's the output that I get: http://p.linode.com/7016 but that didn't work as I expected (i.e. a newline would be optional). • WCF object parameter loses values

  I'm passing an object to a WCF service and wasn't getting anything back. I checked the variable as it gets passed to the method that actually does the work and noticed that none of the values are set on the object at that point. Here's the object: [DataContract] public class Section { [DataMember] public long SectionID { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Title { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Text { get; set; } [DataMember] public int Order { get; set; } } Here's the service code for the method: [OperationContract] public List<Section> LoadAllSections(Section s) { return SectionRepository.Instance().LoadAll(s); } The code that actually calls this method is this and is located in a Silverlight XAML file: SectionServiceClient proxy = new SectionServiceClient(); proxy.LoadAllSectionsCompleted += new EventHandler<LoadAllSectionsCompletedEventArgs>(proxy_LoadAllSectionsCompleted); Section s = new Section(); s.SectionID = 4; proxy.LoadAllSectionsAsync(s); When the code finally gets into the method LoadAllSections(Section s), the parameter's SectionID is not set. I stepped through the code and when it goes into the generated code that returns an IAsyncResult object, the object's properties are set. But when it actually calls the method, LoadAllSections, the parameter received is completely blank. Is there something I have to set to make the proeprty stick between method calls?

  Hi, I want to make an application that executes a remote script. The user can create a script (probabily a LUA script) then stores it in the server. Then he can uses an API for execute the script. I was thinking that API could be a webservice. So my questions are: I need high performance to execute the script. So my first choice was LUA script. Someone has another sugestion? Cause I need high perfomance, I was thinking if the webservice is the best solution. Maybe I could create a TCP/IP Windows Service that hold the users request. It is important to say that I will have many user executing scripts at the same time. So I will have a concurrency problem. My scripts will query in a database. I will use Tokyo Cabinet or Tokio Tyrant. I think Tokio Tyrant is the only solution cause I will have many requests. For perfomance, Do I need to make a connection pooling? Is there anyway to share variables between webservices requests? To make the webservice or the Windows service i was thinking to use C++. Can someone help with these questions? thanks

• Testing a wide variety of computers with a small company

  Hello everyone, I work for a small dotcom which will soon be launching a reasonably-complicated Windows program. We have uncovered a number of "WTF?" type scenarios that have turned up as the program has been passed around to the various not-technical-types that we've been unable to replicate. One of the biggest problems we're facing is that of testing: there are a total of three programmers -- only one working on this particular project, me -- no testers, and a handful of assorted other staff (sales, etc). We are also geographically isolated. The "testing lab" consists of a handful of VMWare and VPC images running sort-of fresh installs of Windows XP and Vista, which runs on my personal computer. The non-technical types try to be helpful when problems arise, we have trained them on how to most effectively report problems, and the software itself sports a wide array of diagnostic features, but since they aren't computer nerds like us their reporting is only so useful, and arranging remote control sessions to dig into the guts of their computers is time-consuming. I am looking for resources that allow us to amplify our testing abilities without having to put together an actual lab and hire beta testers. My boss mentioned rental VPS services and asked me to look in to them, however they are still largely very much self-service and I was wondering if there were any better ways. How have you, or any other companies in a similar situation handled this sort of thing? EDIT: According to the lingo, our goal here is to expand our systems testing capacity via an elastic computing platform such as Amazon EC2. At this point I am not sure suggestions of beefing up our unit/integration testing are going to help very much as we are consistently hitting walls at the systems testing phase. Has anyone attempted to do this kind of software testing on a cloud-type service like EC2? Tom
