• Intermec PF8t printer - print output with wrong orientation

  I am using an Intermec PF8t for label printing. My labels are the size of 40mm(width) and 20mm (height) and they are rendered in a crystal report from where I print them dynamically. The problem is that no matter what the page orientation I specify either in crystal report or in printer settings, the result is printed vertically(i.e. my output gets rotated by 90 degrees) whereas I want it to print horizontally (as in normal left to right printing) . Strangely, when I print the label at design time, everything prints as it should. One important thing to mention is that i print my label report programmatically using crystal reprot's PrintToPrinter() method. Any ideas... I have pretty much exhausted all the information available at intermec's portal but to no avail.

• NHibernate: uninitialized proxy passed to save() and cascade

  Hi, I keep getting an NHibernate.PersistentObjectException when calling session.Save() which is due to an uninitialized proxy passed to save(). If I fiddle with my cascade settings I can make it go away, but then child objects aren't being saved. The only other fix I have found is by adding the following to my DefaultSaveEventListener. protected override bool ReassociateIfUninitializedProxy(object obj, global::NHibernate.Engine.ISessionImplementor source) { if (!NHibernateUtil.IsInitialized(obj)) NHibernateUtil.Initialize(obj); return base.ReassociateIfUninitializedProxy(obj, source); } This is obviously not an ideal solution. • Unreachable code detected by using const variables

Is there a good way to have just one variable being constant, deriving the other from it, but not resulting in an unreachable code warning? Note that I need both values, on start of the camera it needs to be configured to the proper Pixel Format, and my image understanding code needs to know how many bits the image is in. So, is there a good workaround, or do I just live with this warning?

• Tortoise SVN Icon Overlays Displaying Everywhere...Why?

  Update: So, this turns out to have nothing to do with Tortoise SVN. I use Mozy.com for off-site backups and their new version includes these icon overlays. They can be disabled via the config options...or see here http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?p=1385433. Thanks @OS for the answer. Been using Tortoise SVN for some time on my Vista box. Within the last few days (and after recently upgrading to 1.5.4) the icon overlays are displaying on all files. My exclude path is: * My include paths are: C:\Users\jw\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\SVNProjects* C:\Users\jw\Documents\VB Projects\SVNProjects* I haven't touched those settings in months. Any ideas? Help. Thanks.

  Hi all, I'm trying to use the StoreKit API in OS3.0 for the iphone to do in app purchase. However, I'm getting the following error when trying to purchase something in the SANDBOX ENVIRONMENT. The item you tried to buy is no longer available [Environment: Sandbox] Here's the code I use to do the payments: SKPayment* payment = [SKPayment paymentWithProductIdentifier:model.productId]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] addPayment:payment]; I've also queried storekit for the list of available products and that seems to work just fine returning the same product identifiers that I'm now using to purchase the item. I have all the products setup in iTunes Connect and created a test user. Before debugging the app I signed out of the store in the settings menu and entered my test account and password when debugging my own app. What could be going on here?

• Custom tool error: Command.proto:11:18: "Message2" is not defined.

  I am using the latest version of protobuf-net with VS2008 integration. I have created 2 messages (Message1 and Message2), 1 message in 1 proto file. When I try to reference Message2 in Message1 the code generator tool gives me error "Message2" is not defined and won't generate the code file. The package for both messages is same. It look like that because of the integration of the tool with VS2008 it expects all the messages in same .proto file to compile. Currently I have to paste an empty message with same name in Message1.proto file, like this: message Message1 { optional Message2 message2 = 1; } message Message2 { } And then later on remove the declaration of class Message2 from Message1.cs. Are there any settings that I need to do so to avoid this error, or is providing an empty declaration the only way?

• J2ME TextField Exception

  When I instantiate a textField, I have a number in it that I want to be the default text. The problem is, I can't seem to be able to place that value into the textfield without getting an error. The strange thing about it is that the same TextField is what I use to set the value of the variable containing the number. TextField myTF = new TextField("Number", value, 10, TextField.NUMERIC); When I run this code, I receive an exception stating that value doesn't match the constraints of TextField.NUMERIC. However, when I check the vale of the value of the variable, I get the following output: value = 1234567890 value.length() = 10 The value is set by the same TextField, saved to the phone that I am working on, and when loaded from the phone's settings, throws an exception.

• App only spawns one thread

  I have what I thought was a thread-friendly app, and after doing some output I've concluded that of the 15 threads I am attempting to run, only one does. • Blackberry: Simulator stuck up launching through JDE 5.x

  Hi, When i try to build my project in Blackberry JDE 5.0.0.25. It built successfully. And then when i click on Debug menu "Go" button, simulator is launching and stuck up lanching itself forever, does't come up the simulator screen normally and visible with apps showing. When i built the same project in Blackberry JDE 4.7, it built successfully and then click on "Go", launched the simulator normally and showed the app to play with it. Could someone guide me what should be problem? Do i need to set any settings specific to BB JDE 5.x? I have just the basic hello world empty screen in my project, so don't provide any code here.   I'm using the following code to serve uploaded files from a login secured view in a django app. Do you think that there is a security vulnerability in this code? I'm a bit concerned about that the user could place arbitrary strings in the url after the upload/ and this is directly mapped to the local filesystem. Actually I don't think that it is a vulnerability issue, since the access to the filesystem is restricted to the files in the folder defined with the UPLOAD_LOCATION setting. • C#: standard Windows menu bars in Windows Forms

  I noticed that adding a MenuStrip (from the VS Toolbox) to my form design doesn't yield a menu bar like many native Windows applications. Instead I get a menu bar like VS's own. None of the style settings for MenuStrip appear to mimic the much more common native menu bar. Is there a way to add a menu bar to my Windows Forms application that looks the same as the one you see in Notepad, Task Manager, Windows Explorer and others? (Preferably with the designer, but I wouldn't mind adding it programmatically either.)

• Reporting services genius only: a fast way to get Reporting Services local site working?

  Hello I was here trying to figure out why my Reports manager is empty, there's no tabs at all. I installed SQL Server 2008 complete, but didn't not configure Reporting Services. When installing SQL Server 2008, this Windows 7 version didn't have yet IIS installed, I installed it later. I don't see where is this localhost/Reports physically on my Hard Drive, where is the physic folder? I don't see on IIS where is Report folder, would it exist? The site settings people talk about, I can't find it. The "Reporting Services" service is running on automatic at SQL Server Configuration Manager. How can I get Reporting Services this working without struggling? (I can't see why is necessary to customize all these user permissions)

• New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

  Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration.   I'm getting this error message "The Maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quotea may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader" In the one of my orchestrations that consumes a wcf webservice (stacktrace indicates the receive shape is where the issue is), It is likely that the response is very large. looking at some of the other questions with this error message the solution is to change a WCF bindings setting in the configuration file. However I can't find these configuration settings when I'm using biztalk. They don't seem to be generated anywhere, should I be trying to add them to BTSNTSVc.exe.config. Any suggestions welcome.

• Why is Visual Studio 2008 slow with Firefox?

  I am using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I've made an ASP.NET MVC site which has 6 CSS files and 6 Javascript files in the HEAD element in the Site.Master file. When I do F5 or CTRL-F5 in Explorer or Opera, the site displays instantly. When I run my site in Firefox, it takes a SECOND for each CSS and each Javascript file on LOCALHOST, i.e. 12 seconds to load on localhost. What might I be able to change in the Firefox settings so it is as fast as Opera and Explorer? NEW INFO: Uninstalled Firebug completely, no yslow, no other add-ons. When I take out the CSS and Javascript files, then Firefox is as fast as the other browsers. What could be taking it so long on a local connection?

I configured settings.xml correctly (i guess so...) true http username password 12.34.56.78 8080 But still I am error message like... if i dont configure userid/password gets correct error message which is HTTP response code 407 - saying authentication required.   Hi, I am using a port of GNU GetOpts, to be specific I am using the one at: http://getopt.codeplex.com I have added the DLL as a reference. But when I run my application I receive an exception: System.IO.FileLoadException was unhandled Message="Could not load file or assembly 'Gnu.Getopt, Version=0.9.1.24287, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d014b4ccdc53511a' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant permission to execute. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131418)" If it is possible I would like my application to say, "trust this DLL as much as you trust me". Is there a way to do that so I won't have to fiddle with security settings? And if there is not. What is the cleanest way to get the DLL working?

  I want to import the contents of a csv file into R, the csv file contains multiple sections of data vertically, seperated by blank lines and asterisks. Currently I'm manually cutting the csv file up into smaller files, but I think I could do it using read.csv and the skip and nrows settings of read.csv, If I could work out where the secion breaks are. This gives me a logical TRUE for every blank line ifelse(readLines("DATA.csv")=="",TRUE,FALSE) I'm hoping someone has already solved this problem.

• ORM solutions (JPA; Hibernate) vs. JDBC

  I need to be able to insert/update objects at a consistent rate of at least 8000 objects every 5 seconds in an in-memory HSQL database. I have done some comparison performance testing between Spring/Hibernate/JPA and pure JDBC. I have found a significant difference in performance using HSQL.. With Spring/Hib/JPA, I can insert 3000-4000 of my 1.5 KB objects (with a One-Many and a Many-Many relationship) in 5 seconds, while with direct JDBC calls I can insert 10,000-12,000 of those same objects. I cannot figure out why there is such a huge discrepancy. I have tweaked the Spring/Hib/JPA settings a lot trying to get close in performance without luck. I want to use Spring/Hib/JPA for future purposes, expandability, and because the foreign key relationships (one-many and many-many) are difficult to maintain by hand; but the performance requirements seem to point towards using pure JDBC. Any ideas of why there would be such a huge discrepancy?

• Modify 3rd party code in subversion

  I use a script for my homepage but I'd like to localize it. Furthermore the CSS uses images from a special folder which does not fit to my folder hierarchy. Because I don't want to adopt these paths and settings I'll have to modify the original sources. Currently my repository looks like this: /3rdParty /CompanyA /CompanyAProduct1 /v1_0 /v1_1 /MyProductA /branches /tags /trunk /import /export /source Via svn:externals I map all stuff I need (lib, dll, or code) into the import folder. Now I'd like to modify the files in the import folder but this will modify the original sources, too (as far as I know). What is the best solution to have the modified version in my import folder but the original sources remain unaffected? Should I make a branch of the 3rd party code? But then I have to update the original sources for every new release. Thanks!

However, when moved to production, it works for excel 97-2003 files, but when I try to read 2007 files I receive the following error: Access to the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\PORTALS03\ASPNET\LOCALS~1\Temp\TMP_Z129388041687919815' is denied. How is it possible that the 97-2003 excel file can be read but the 2007 files throw access is denied?

• The height and width properties on my Flex 4 app arn't working

But when I embed the .swf file into a HTML page, the application's background color covers the whole screen, and when the Flash Player Settings message box pops up it is outside of the area I defined in the code above.
