• Ubuntu freezing after boot

  I have ubuntu 12.04 LTS dual booting with windows 7 on my laptop without any problems and felt like doing the same on my desktop. However now that I have installed Ubuntu on the desktop through Wubi, if I boot into ubuntu the log in screen is as far as I get. I see my username and the password box but everything is completely unresponsive. I can move the mouse around the screen fine I just can't click on anything and the keyboard doesn't seem to work at all as I've tried a few shortcuts and there's no response at all. I have done a some searches and I think it's a driver issue but I don't know how to fix them as I'm pretty new to ubuntu and cannot log in at all. Desktop specs if needed: Intel core i7 2700k, NVidia GTX 580, 8GB RAM. Thanks in advance

• trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

  I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work). • Windows7 explorer context strip hook?

  Hy everybody, I'm wondering if it's possible to add a new button via C++ or C# to windows 7 explorer "context strip"(don't know if this is correct name) - like on picture below. My reason for this is because a lot of times I'm switching on&off "Show hidden files, folders and drives" functionality under Tools-Folder option-View. Therefore i want to simplify this process with a click of a button. I was looking into ShellExecteEx function, but I am not sure I can do that. • Can anyone explain why this behaviour might be happening in Windows Forms?

  I'm developing a Windows Forms Application. See attached image for the Interface. Now I've put a close button (X) in the Panel(say Panel2) which has Application Constants as label.The first combo box is in another panel(say Panel1). Now when I click on the X button in Panel 2 I want the Panel to be invisible and the combo box text to be blank. Simple enough. So I write Panel2.visible=false; comboBox1.SelectedIndex=-1; When I click on X, the text in combo box goes blank, then I have to click again for the Panel2 to go invisible. Then I changed the sequence comboBox1.SelectedIndex=-1; Panel2.visible=fasle; and this works smooth. Not sure why this might be happening? Is there anything that I might be doing with my form design/code to have such a behaviour?

  Basically, how do I link an Outlook form and a C# back end? In VB you can write on the form Sub ButtonName_Click() Dim Recipients With Item.GetInspector.ModifiedFormPages("Message") Set Recipients = .Controls("To") End With End Sub which will fire whenever the button named "ButtonName" on the form is clicked and will set the variable Recipients to a string of whatever is in the To text box. Now I have a custom form, and I have a VS C# Outlook Add-in, and they're two separate things. I've got an event handler that can catch MailItem objects, but I don't know how to handle custom form button clicks or even how to access elements on the form. EDIT - Just to clarify, the custom form was created in Outlook and then its .ofs was imported into VS. Both Outlook and VS are 2010.

• laptop screen goes blank after waking from sleep

  I have been facing this issue from the last week after some update. Whenever my laptop wakes up from suspend state it just shows me a blank screen. Regardless of whatever I do(move my mouse, press keyboard buttons) it just refuses to wake up. I am forced to do a restart and lose all my unsaved files. Has this issue been reported for Ubuntu 12.04? I am using a Lenovo X200 with Intel Mobile 4 Series Graphics Chipset. Please let me know if any body has found a fix for this.

  I'm kinda new to Dojo toolkit. There are certain issues which I would like to get enlightened (I googled but I didn't get any appropriate & satisfying answers) I have a dojo.js(Perhaps the uncompressed dojo.js downloaded) in my already running application (Developed by another software developer). How to find out which version of dojo.js he has downloaded and is being used right now? (Its not commented. I checked) a) While I'm trying to run my application in IE-8 (Opening a pop-up on click of a button), I get error which is pointing me to this line of code if(dojo.isIE&&window.location.protocol==="file:") Note: Its working fine in IE6 but the issue is with IE8 & to be even more specific the JS error is displayed only for the first time when I'm clicking the button. b) Is it true that dojo 1.3 & above is the best & stable release for IE8?

• Installing programs from a download

  Hello, my name is Anthony and I'm new to Ubuntu and any other Linux OS for that matter. My question concerns downloading a program, and then installing it. The program is called Remotedroid, it lets you use your phone as a wireless keyboard and mouse. I'm use to windows automatically starting setup upon download and cant figure out how to initiate the install in Ubuntu. The programs website says its compatible with Linux OS and the readme file says to just click the extension remotedroidserver.jar to use, but it wont work and none of the files do anything. I've unzipped all the files and my Java is all up to date as far as i know, I think. I'm just not getting how to run a setup in Ubuntu. I looked around this site for the answer but came up with nothing so if someone could maybe offer some insight I would be grateful. Thank you.

  I've spent more time than i should trying to get my ray picking program working. I'm pretty convinced my math is solid with respect to line plane intersection, but I believe the problem lies with the changing of the mouse screen touch into 3D world space. • How should I smooth the transition between these two states in flex/flashbuilder

  I have an item in which has two states, best described as open and closed, and they look like this: and And what I'd like to do is is smooth the transition between one state and the other, effectively by interpolating between the two points in a smooth manner (sine) to move the footer/button-block and then fade in the pie chart. However this is apparently beyond me and after wrestling with my inability to do so for an hour+ I'm posting it here :D So my transition block looks as follows <s:transitions> <s:Transition id="TrayTrans" fromState="*" toState="*"> <s:Sequence> <s:Move duration="400" target="{footer}" interpolator="{Sine}"/> <s:Fade duration="300" targets="{body}"/> </s:Sequence> </s:Transition> <s:Transition> <s:Rotate duration="3000" /> </s:Transition> </s:transitions> where {body} refers to the pie chart and {footer} refers to the footer/button-block. However this doesn't work so I don't really know what to do... Additional information which may be beneficial: The body block is always of fixed height (perhaps of use for the Xby variables in some effects?). It needs to work in both directions. Oh and the Sine block is defined above in declarations just as <s:Sine id="Sine">. Additionally! How would I go about setting the pie chart to rotate continually using these transition blocks? (this would occur without the labels on) Or is that the wrong way to go about it as it's not a transition as such? The effect I'm after is one where the pie chart rotates slowly without labels prior to a selection of a button below, but on selection the rotation stops and labels appear... Thanks a lot in advance! And apologies on greyscale, but I can't really decide on a colour scheme. Any suggestions welcome.

  What I want to realize is the following: In a JSP x I have a 3 dropdownlists and a button called edit when user click this button a table dynamically should be displayed. Now this table is modified correponding the values in those 3 dropdownlists. So it can be 3 cols or 4 cols or even 6 cols, it depends on the selected values. So what I tried is to use the servlet to getParameter doing the if clause construct the html and then forward the response. Have you any the suggestion of the structure that I can use in JSP? Now I want to disable various componets on other JPanels when a user presses the start button on the panel1. Now how can I access the components of those other panels from panel1. I know that one approach is to first get the container of panel1 panel1.getParent(); Then get the components of the container container.getComponents(); and use them as per need. Q1. Is there any other way by which I can perform the same task? (I think this is the only way) Q2. After getting the components list of the container, how to differentiate one container with other?

• Toggle DIV and SPAN text onclick

  I have been trying to mimic this website http://www.designrattan.co.uk/daybed/apple for a while now. I need to make a page where the customer can click "View 360" and then it changes the DIV to show the product 360 (for which I already have the code for). I also need to make it so that when it is clicked the span text then changes to "Back to Image" I have tried many times and have failed to get the Javascript code and HTML to work well together. My efforts can be seen here: http://designliving.tk/winchester-rattan-garden-round-table-set As you can see it is a complete fail as it doesn't change the DIV it just displays a new one. Also when you click the button it then changes to text instead of a new button. • Really, Mobile Devices will Take Over the World?

  My blog has been quiet for quite a while. My inspiration comes from crunching/exchanging information which I should do more often. Gartner analysis tells us that by 2013 mobile phones will overtake PC’s as the most common Web access device worldwide. A few years back I would have said non sense, but apparently most Web users are comfortable with less processing power. Just take a look at the increasing business in Netbooks. Wouldn’t it be great to have a mobile phone which can connect wirelessly to my home TV, monitor, car display, mouse, keyboard, etc? And to have the processing power of the current Netbook generation? Where can I buy it? Why are we making our PC devices (for instance the slate) smaller while we can make our mobile device’s functionality bigger? What about the single responsibility principle? Does it apply to physical devices as well as good object-oriented software?
