• After 10.10 -> 11.04 upgrade, can only login via Classic (No Effects)

  Yesterday I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04, everything seemed to go okay until immediately after login: the desktop goes into a "corrupted" looking state (similar to having too high resolution set). I can see some kind of movement by moving the mouse around/right clicking, and can enter text terminals via ctrl + alt + f1 It does this in both plain "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu Classic", and only seems to login/startup properly with Ubuntu Classic (No Effects). I have checked my video card (Radeon X600) and run the unity support test which passes with all "yes" results (Unity supported: yes): /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p I have tried re-installing my Ubuntu desktop: rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop With no success. I can workaround for now with Classic (No Effects), but I'd really like to find the root problem. Any suggestions on what else to try would be appreciated!

  When using some applications (LibreOffice, Chrome) it happens that screen flicker (just for a second, or even less than a second) or screen turns into black and then back to normal again... it all happens very fast (usually when clicking with the mouse)... for example, I was searching something in google chrome and list of possible results appeared - when I double click on the search text area (not list of possible results) screen flicker... or when changing border lines in LibreOffice Calc... I managed to create screen shot while using LibreOffice Calc. I am using Nvidia 313 drivers-updates on Ubuntu 13.04. What could be the problem?

• XNA - positioning after rotation

  I have a turret with a 2 gunbarrels. The turret rotates towards my mouse. So far no problem. When it creates a few bullets and positions them at the end of the gun barrels. Here is the problem. It only works the moment the gun is point upwards. The moment it rotates the end of the gun barrels have moved ofcourse, thus the bullets don't spawn at the end of the gun battels, but at the place the where the gun barrels are when the turret is pointing upwards. How can I check where the end of the gun barrels are the moment it rotates? Thanks in Advance, Mark Dijkema PS. • XORG Issues- reported bug, what next

  On Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, after watching a video on VLC, I started getting screen freezes and unresponsive keyboard, and the mouse moves but clicking it doesn't do anything. I created a bug (1055240) and provided additional information but I'm not sure what happens next. I ran apport-collect 1055240 as suggested and somewhere during that process it told me to ask my question on Ask Ubuntu. So I'm wondering if y'all can tell me what I need to do? AFAIK I have provided the additional information that was requested. My PC is getting close to the point of becoming unusable- I just don't know which flash video is going to be the next one to cause it to lock up :-(

  Hi, Overflow. I have an application which is supposed to convert a video via DirectShowSource. I have a checkbox which enables a button called "btnviewcrop" which shows a new form called crp.vb for cropping/shearing pixels off the video. Now, I have a Panel1 that I want to set as the owner (the video drawing surface) but when I set it to open, the application crashes (Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.) and I do not understand how to fix it. I want to use jquery to alter some of the links and button locations dynamically. • windows control library in c sharp

  I have just added a textbox, button, label to validate ID of 12 characters. The library is called check_ID. It works fine. The only problem is i have to access the forecolor of label, backcolor of textbox , forecolor of button as per color scheme of the project. But it seems that none of the properties of the objects in check_ID are available for modification. I have even changed the modifier to public of all objects by repoening the check_ID project. Is there another way to access the properties of these objects that are created using windows control library?. A very big thanks in advance.

• The emulator isn't showing the XML contents

  I have been reading Google's android tutorial (link added in the first comment) and I got a problem... In the tutorial they explain the XML elements (EditText and Button) and in the end they say how to tun the program to see the button + the text field. The problem is, that the emulator doesn't show them.. just a black screen. I even tried adding this line to the onCreate function - System.out.println("Hello World!"); but still the emulator is showing only black screen.. • Best practice to identify and kill hanging process, when system hangs and reacts slowly on user input?

  Recently when I tried to open a video with VLC, my system slowed down, the open applications webbrowser, VLC and filemanager and others didn't react any longer. The mouse just reacted still very slowly. On a windows machine i would press a keycombi CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the taskmanager, search the process which caused the hang and kill it. Since i'm fairly new with the use of linux i haven't figured out the best practice for solve such a situation in Ubuntu. Which quick and effective way would you recommend to identify the hanging process and close it, when the system already reacts very slowly on user input?

  I have a Samsung R430 notebook that has been running Ubuntu for close to a year, now. Since I've upgrated to Maverick, I've been dealing with little, but increasingly annoying issues, that put my faith to question. The first one, a CPU-intensive set of drm_kms_helper, made me compile my own kernel and set polling to off just so I could move my mouse without frequent stuttering. That led me to dealing with a screen that gets dimmer and dimmer after each sleep/wake-up cycle, which eventually leads me to reboot. Since I have seen some KMS and brightness related bugs around, I was wondering if it is a definite cause for my problem. If so, has there been any advance on the excessive polling issue for those of us plagued by it?

  Hello, I have a page of products and for each of them, I want to have a form that uses AJAX to update the session. I've done this bit - just providing background. I use the product's ID to create a different form class and name for each form, so each form is called something like this_form_name_567 and the next would be this_form_name_568 and so on. There is a submit button per form. I'm having trouble figuring out a) which event is best to use so that the correct form will be identified when a submit button is clicked, b) once clicked, how to then make sure the correct value is taken from a hidden field (unique ID) within the submitted form so that I can populate a line of code such as: $.post("compare_response.php", {compare_this: $("#compare_this").val()}, function(data){ } Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Error after installing Lubuntu 14.04 through liveUSB

  A friend asked me to install ubuntu on his toshiba NB 200 netbook to replace windows xp. I formatted the flash drive, ran an nb5sum check on the iso and after running netbootin , I checked the drive for errors. No problems so far. During the installation, while everything seemed normal, the installation regularly paused until I pressed a button or moved the mouse. After restarting, it doesn't boot and it starts a shell showing : "General error mounting filesystems A maintenance shell will now be started CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and reboot the system " Any ideas? Any help is appreciated!

The location of this external image comes from the application xml; 3.a) the carousel contains objects that can flow from right to left, possibly trough a animation (a soft break of the slide). The first object is centered in the middle of the carousel. This is the first element in the video feed. All the subsequent video object are added to the right of the centered object; 4) Total Video object, this object links to window two with the corresponding video of this object. This object is visually build out of the following sub parts:o 4.a) Thumb object (possible playing video thumb); 4.b) Reflection of the Thumb; 4.c) Textual Explanation of Thumb. 1) Video stream, this is the video stream coming from a external server streamed to the television (maybe up scaled) as 720p stream; 2) Advertisement, the type of advertisement shown overlaid on the video is based on previous settings in the video feed. This could mean that Admob, Adsense or a third party image plus URL could be shown. When the advertisement is selected trough navigation (it will highlight in a different color as a border around the advertisement. The color an thickness can be managed trough the application xml), when clicked a browser will open with the associated site (the application will be pushed to the background process, when the user is finished it will return to the app); 3) A back button, an image and navigational element. The location of the image comes from the application xml. The button is only shown when a cursor is moved (a button is pressed on the remote) it will highlight when selected and when pressed will forward the screen to the main window. When the main window is opened the video will be removed from cache and memory and cannot be start from the point it was exited. please give me your idea....
