• RSpec and stubbing parameters for a named scope

  I'm try to write a spec for a named scope which is date dependent. The spec: it "should return 6 months of documents" do Date.stub!(:today).and_return(Date.new(2005, 03, 03)) doc_1 = Factory.create(:document, :date => '2005-01-01') Document.past_six_months.should == [doc_1] end The named scope in the Document model: named_scope :past_six_months, :conditions => ['date > ? AND date < ?', Date.today - 6.months, Date.today] The spec fails with an empty array, and the query in test.log shows why: SELECT * FROM "documents" WHERE (date > '2009-11-11' AND date < '2010-05-11') i.e. it appears to be ignoring my stubbed Date method. However, if I use a class method instead of a named scope then it passes: def self.past_six_months find(:all, :conditions => ['date > ? AND date < ?', Date.today - 6.months, Date.today]) end I would rather use the named scope approach but I don't understand why it isn't working.

  Hi, I've currently written code to use the ServiceContractGenerator to generate web service client code based on a wsdl, and then compile it into an assembly in memory using the code dom. I'm then using reflection to set up the binding, endpoint, service values/types, and then ultimately invoke the web service method based on xml configuration that can be altered at run time. This all currently works fine. However, the problem I'm currently running into, is that I'm hitting several exotic web services that require lots of custom binding/security settings. This is forcing me to add more and more configuration into my custom xml configurations, as well as the corresponding updates to my code to interpret and set those binding/security settings in code. Ultimately, this makes adding these 'exotic' services slower, and I can see myself eventually reimplementing the 'system.serviceModel' section of the web or app.config file, which is never a good thing. My question is, and this is where my lack of experience .net and C# shows, is there a way to define the configuration normally found in the web.config or app.config 'system.serviceModel' section somewhere else, and at run time supply this to configuration to the web service client? Is there a way to attach an app.config directly to an assembly as a resource or any other way to supply this configuration to the client? Basically, I'd like attach an app.config only containing a 'system.serviceModel' to the assembly containing a web service client so that it can use its configuration. This way I wouldn't need to handle every configuration under the sun, I could let .net do it for me. Fyi, it's not an option for me to put the configuration for every service in the app.config for the running application. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bryan

• How to get the stacktrace in a mobile device?

  I'm getting a NullPointerException in a Nokia S40. I want to know what is causing this exception. The device shows: NullPointerException java/lang/NullPointerException This error only occurs in the device, running in the emulator the application works fine. I use microlog to debug my application. But the application works fine if the log is enabled. Is there a way to get the stack trace when I get this NullPointerException? I don't need all details like the line number just which method cause this exception. UPDATE: I installed the same application in another Nokia S40 and the same error didn't occur. I think when I enabled the log it made the thread slower and helper.doStuff() was called when I expected it to be called.

• HTTPService/ResultEvent with Flex 3.2 versus Flex >= 3.5

  Hey everybody, through a design decission or what-so-ever Adobe changed the content of the ResultEvent fired by a HTTPService Object. Take a look at following example: var httpService:HTTPService = myHTTPServices.getResults(); httpService.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT,resultHandler); httpService.send(); /** * Handels the login process */ function resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { // get http service var httpService = (event.target as HTTPService); // do something } It works like a charm with Flex 3.2. But when I try to compile it with Flex 3.5 or Flex 4.0 event.target as HTTPService is null. I figured out that event.target is now an instance of HTTPOperation. That is interesting because I can't find HTTPOperation in the langref. However, I think what Flash Builder's debugger means is mx.rpc.http.Operation. The debugger also shows that event.target has a private attribute httpService which is the instance I expected to get with event.target. But it's private, so event.target.httpService doesn't work. If I only want to remove the EventListener I can cast event.target as EventDispatcher. But I need to use methods from HTTPService. So: How can I get the HTTPService instance from the ResultEvent? When i Click on Button, It will open new view in landscape mode. This View is for my Image Gallery.. It Shows 5 Images 1) - Centered Large Image With its description on Bottom. 2) - Next Coming image on left side, This image is slightly tilled at some angle, Without any description at bottom. 3)next to next coming image on left to 2nd image. 4) - previous image on right side, This image is slightly tilled at some angle, Without any description at bottom. 5)Previous to Previous image on right of 4th image And All images are scrollable.. like When i scroll 2nd image, it Will move to Center and show its description and image Which is already centered move to previous image. • Apache unresponsive on Vista [closed]

  I had been running Apache on Vista for around a year, but recently upgraded my workstation. I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate and installed the latest version of the Apache server for win32 (2.2.11, no SSL). The service runs fine and there were no errors reported during the install, nor are there any errors in the Apache logs. However, any attempt to access the web site on localhost (or 127.0.0.1) just hangs the browser. I have used netstat to check who is listening to port 80 and it shows httpd.exe. I have also tried adjusting the .conf file to use port 8080 but this had no effect either (except to change the netstat output). This is a development system with quite a few other pieces of software installed. However, when I tried installing IIS, it worked fine (I removed it soon after before reattempting the Apache install). Using the older 2.0 version of Apache has no effect. Windows firewall is not running. I have disabled my NOD32 anti-virus. Any ideas what is going on? Regards, William

  The application I'm creating needs a function like user selects some text, a pop up menu shows, and user clicks "search" menu to perform a search directly. Problem is the current pop up menu provided by UIMenuController doesn't support to be extended. So my thought is to subscribe "UIMenuControllerDidShowMenuNotification", get the frame of pop up menu, and display the "search" button right aside. • popViewController does not autorotate back to allowed orientation

  I have two UIViewControllers, "A" and "B", where "A" overrides the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation to return YES for UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait, and "B" returns YES for all orientations. In my example "A" is the root navigation view controller, and I then use pushViewController for "B". After that I rotate the device into landscape, which successfully autorotates "B", then I pop "B" (back button or via popViewController) to return to "A". When targetting iPhone OS 3.1.3, "A" returns to the portrait orientation as expected. When targetting iPhone OS 3.2, I have two side-effects: "A" is displayed in landscape. The navigation bar does not update even though "A" is now displayed. The navigation bar still shows the items for "B". Only after trying to go back/pop one more time will the navigation bar animate to show the items for "A". If I instead attempt to push "B" again and go back, I have to pop twice before the navigation bar animates to show the items for "A". During these "intermediate pops" the view for "A" remains displayed. While researching this issue, I have seen other answers suggesting performing the rotation manually ([UIDevice setOrientation] or via a tranformation), however this does not help understand what the problem is, especially why it behaves differently between the two OS's. So my question is: must all of my UIViewControllers on the UINavigationController stack support exactly the same orientations going forward? And if not, then is there something that I need to do to make it behave as it did for OS 3.1.3?

  Computer bombed while posting this, couldnt find a duplicate question but if there is one, forgive me. So, I've run into a wall. And rather than use a ladder to avoid it, I'd like go through it. I'm setting up what I can best describe as a many-to-many relationship in a database. To examplify, imagine I have three primary tables: Items, Categories, Sections(nevermind the potential redundancy) Then I have another table, Properties. Items, Categories, and Sections can be associated with many properties. A single property can be associated with one, all, or none of the other tables. The best way I can figure to do this is to have join tables make the relationship. i.e. tblItems----(Foreign Key)----tblItems_To_Properties----(Foreign Key)----tblProperties In this example, tblItems simply has an "ItemID" Primary Key. tblItems_To_Properties has its own Primary Key(tblItems_To_PropertiesID), a Foreign Key to the Item(ItemID) and a Foreign key to the Property(PropertyID). The Properties table simply has its primary key(PropertyID) I hope this example isnt too confusing...if I have to I can find a way to put a diagram up or something. My problem is, I want to display this in a DataGrid using the Master-Detail method(DevExpress GridControl). I use the tblItems as a test, and I can see the Items in the parent view, but in the child view I see(understandably) the join table and that is it. My goal is to make it so the Grid ignores the join table and shows the Properties table as the only child. Any help on this method or insight into another solution would be muuuuuuuch appreciat

• java TrayIcon using image with transparent background

  I am using the following code to set a tray icon in Windows and Linux. It works wonderful in Windows and works okay in Linux. • Left Join with a OneToOne field in Django

  I have 2 tables, simpleDB_all and simpleDB_some. The "all" table has an entry for every item I want, while the "some" table has entries only for some items that need additional information. The Django models for these are: class all(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=40) important_info = models.CharField(max_length=40) class some(models.Model): all_key = models.OneToOneField(all) extra_info = models.CharField(max_length=40) I'd like to create a view that shows every item in "all" with the extra info if it exists in "some". Since I'm using a 1-1 field I can do this with almost complete success: allitems = all.objects.all() for item in allitems: print item.name, item.important_info, item.some.extra_info but when I get to the item that doesn't have a corresponding entry in the "some" table I get a DoesNotExist exception. Ideally I'd be doing this loop inside a template, so it's impossible to wrap it around a "try" clause. Any thoughts? I can get the desired effect directly in SQL using a query like this: SELECT all.name, all.important_info, some.extra_info FROM all LEFT JOIN some ON all.id = some.all_key_id; But I'd rather not use raw SQL.

• Multiple database connection in Rails

  I'm using active_delegate for multiple connection in Rails. Here I'm using mysql as master_database for some models,and postgresql for some other models. Problem is that when I try to access the mysql models, I'm getting the error below! Stack trace shows that, it is still using the postgresql adapter to access my mysql models!   I am trying to obtain something similar to the "share this on..." menu here but I don't quite understand how they are doing this, even after a look at their CSS. I refer to the fact that the images show up on hover. My first attempt would be something like <div id="share_on"> <ul> <li><a href="#"><img src="shareon-digg.png" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="shareon-reddit.png" /></a></li> ... <li><a href="#"><img src="shareon-stumbleupon.png" /></a></li> </ul> </div> and the CSS: #share_on {overflow: hidden} #share_on ul {margin-bottom: -16px} #share_on li {display: inline} #share_on li:hover {margin-top: -16px} Of course this does not work, which is why I am asking here. In the inactive state, only half of the icon shows up, which is the expected behaviour. But on hover, nothing changes. I also have tried some variations, like #share_on li:hover {margin-bottom: 16px} or #share_on li:hover {padding-bottom: 16px} but none of these works. Any ideas?

  Hi, Could anyone tell me how to implement a marquee style progress bar in wxPython? As stated on MSDN: you can animate it in a way that shows activity but does not indicate what proportion of the task is complete. Thank you. I tried this but it doesn't seem to work. The bytecode provider then shows as cglib but I still get the exact same stack trace with javassist present in it. cglib is definitely in the classpath: $ unzip -l flexipol-jar-with-dependencies.jar | grep cglib | wc -l 383 I've tried with both hibernate 3.4 and 3.5 and get the exact same error. Is this a problem with javassist?

• C++ errors not shown in Visual Studio C# project

  I have in Visual Studio 2008 a .NET 3.5 C# project that uses a dll compiled from a C# project (let's call it dll A). Dll A is using on his turn some C++ libraries. The problem is that when I encounter an error while calling objects from dll A, the application just closes, without showing any error. But I need to know what's the problem, I cannot just guess and go blind all along the project with this... I checked Window's event log, could not find anything. I checked the settings of throwing errors in Visual Studio, in menu Debug - Exceptions, all of them are checked (including C++ exceptions), so, any errors should be thrown. My code looks something like this: tessnet2.Tesseract tessocr = new tessnet2.Tesseract(); tessocr.Init(@"s:\temp\tessdata", "eng", false); tessocr.GetThresholdedImage(bmp, Rectangle.Empty).Save("s:\\temp\\" + Guid.NewGuid().ToString() + ".bmp"); List<tessnet2.Word> words = ocr.DoOCR(bmp, "eng"); //App exits at this line If I put in my code something like int x = Convert.ToInt32("test"); this should throw an error. And it throws, and Visual Studio shows it. Does anyone having any idea why the errors are not being shown? Or where else could be registered? Any help is very appreciated! Thanks!

  So I am using AnythingSlider in Wordpress. This is why I am trying to call the thumbnails from the original posts. Anything slider will configure thumbnail navigation like this: function formatText(index, panel) { return index + ""; } $(function () { $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider({ navigationFormatter: formatText // Details at the top of the file on this use (advanced use) }); }); As you can see, the navigationFormatter will allow me to format the nav (including thumbnails) however I want. For example, to format thumbnails, I could do this: navigationFormatter : function(i, panel){ // add thumbnails as navigation links return '<img src="images/th-slide-' + ['civil-1', 'env-1', 'civil-2', 'env-2'][i - 1] + '.jpg">'; } So my issue is getting the wordpress slide images to show up there dynamically, rather than in a folder (as the above example shows). For reference, this is my php query that is pulling the posts image (from a script I've already written: <img class="slider-img" style="float:left;" src="<?php if(function_exists('wp_get_post_image')){ echo wp_get_post_image(array( 'return_html' => false, 'width' => 500 )); } ?>" /> I hope this update helps. • Can't get NUnit to work in Visual Web Develper 2010 express.

  First off I was wondering whether it's possible to implement a functionality with Nunit where each time a project is created in Visual Web Developer 2010 I get a dialog asking whether I want to create a unit test project for current application like I saw it happen in the older versions of Visual Web Developer. I've tried just about everything to get NUnit 2.5.5 to work in Visual Web Developer 2010. For example, in nunit.exe.config I added under configuration <startup> <requiredRuntime version="v4.0.30319" /> </startup> and under runtime: <loadFromRemoteSources enabled="true" /> I then tried to launch nunit-console.exe in order to specify in the command line the option /framework=net-4.0, but the console would appear and instantly disappear. It didn't help when I tried running it as an administrator. I've also tried using Nunit as an external tool inside the Visual Web Developer by creating a toolbar as described in the following link: http://www.marthijnvandenheuvel.com/2010/06/09/using-nunit-in-visual-studio-2010/. It shows up as an icon in the toolbar. I ran my project called ToyStore and then clicked Nunit icon in order to launch it and it gave me a "System.IO.FileNotFoundException:Assembly not found:ToyStore.dll". So, needless to say, I'm pretty lost and don't know what to do and would greatly appreciate any help in getting Nunit to work.

• How to use visibilitychange event on Firefox Extensions

  I'm trying to learn how to make a firefox extension. I want to create a toolbar that only shows up on a specific page. I can make the toolbar appear, but then it should become hidden when I open or switch to a new tab, or close the tab with that specific page.
