  I am currently working on a project in Microsoft Robotics Development Studio, and I am having a little trouble deploying the solution for general use. My problem is this. I am making a simulation, so I need to deploy the simulation engine along with my project. This is dependent on the Ageia PhysX engine, DirectX, and the Microsoft XNA framework. I understand this, and I understand that the deployment tool for MRDS (dssdeploy) isn't set up to deploy simulations by default. So, if anyone has worked with MRDS before, and has deployed a simulation, I could use some help with this.

  I have a WCF REST service that needs to communicate with another WCF REST service. There are three websites: Default Web Site Website1 Website2 If I set up both services in Default Web Site and connect to the other (using HttpClient) using the URI http://localhost/service then everything is okay. The desired set-up is to move these two services to separate websites and rather than using the URI http://localhost/service, accessing the service via http://website1.domain.com/service still using HttpClient. I received the exception: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Unauthorized (401) is not one of the following: OK (200), Created (201), Accepted (202), NonAuthoritativeInformation (203), NoContent (204), ResetContent (205), PartialContent (206) I can see this is a 401, but what is going on here?   In my MVC application I have a Controller Action that Deletes a customer, which I'm applying Claims Based Authorization to using WIF. Problem: if someone doesn't have access they see an exception in the browser (complete with stacktrace), but I'd rather just redirect them. The actual logic relies on 3-4 external service and database. What should I do to my original test case that I wrote ? If i Keep it same in order to make test pass it will have to call several other external services. So I have question in general what should I do if I write a test case for a Business Facade first using TDD and later when I add real logic, if it involves external dependency.

• Guessing the time zone from an arbitrary "location" string?

  I'm trying to run some statistics over the Stack Overflow data dump, and for that I would like to know the time zone for each user. However, all I have to go on is the completely free-form "location" string. I'll stress that I'm only looking for an approximation of the time zone; of course, in general this is an unsolvable problem. However, many people fill out their country, state and/or city, which should give a pretty good indication. It's okay if it fails for other cases. It doesn't have to be reliable, it doesn't have to be accurate, it doesn't have to cover all bases. I don't want to waste too much time on this, so I'm wondering if there is some code out there that can make a reasonable guess. Any language, platform, API or library goes. Any ideas?

• UITableView: moving a row into an empty section

  I have a UITableView with some empty sections. I'd like the user to be able to move a row into them using the standard edit mode controls. The only way I can do it so far is to have a dummy row in my "empty" sections and try to hide it by using tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath: to give the dummy row a height of zero. This seems to leave it as a 1-pixel row. I can probably hide this by making a special type of cell that's just filled with [UIColor groupTableViewBackgroundColor], but is there a better way? This is all in the grouped mode of UITableView UPDATE: Looks like moving rows into empty sections IS possible without any tricks, but the "sensitivity" is bad enough that you DO need tricks in order to make it usable for general users (who won't be patient enough to slowly hover the row around the empty section until things click)

  Hey guys, I am trying to learn Visual C++ 2008 and C++ at the same time to get involved with sourcemod, a server side modding tool for valve games. However I have never touched Visual C++ or C++ in general, and doing some preliminary research I am quite confused on these different versions of C++ (mfc, cli, win32), and why a lot of people seem to hate Visual C++ and use something like Borland instead. I really learn visually, and have used videos from places like Lynda.com with great success. I was wondering if anyone had any exceptional resources they had come across to teach Visual C++ 2k8, with its intricacies and setting up the IDE along with C++ at the same time. Books would be nice, but videos would be preferred, and I don't mind paying for resources. Thanks in advance!

  I have a WPF application which I am using to learn MVVM and IoC. The problem is that the Model used by one of the Views expects to pull one of its dependancies in the constructor from an IoC container. When working on this View in the Visual Studio designer it cannot show the design because an exception is being raised in the model. Is there a way around this? Am I pulling my dependancies in the wrong place in code or is there a way I can pass in constructed dependancies, perhaps through Constructor injection. • Cisco ASA: Allowing and Denying VPN Access based on membership to an AD group

  I have a Cisco ASA 5505 connecting to an Active Directory server for VPN authentication. Usually we'd restrict this to a particular OU, but in this case users which need access are spread across multiple OUs. So, I'd like to use a group to specify which users have remote access. I've created the group and added the users, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to deny users which aren't in that group. Right now, if someone connects they get assigned the correct group policy "companynamera" if they are in that group, so the LDAP mapping is working. However, users who are not in that group still authenticate fine, and their group policy becomes the LDAP path of their first group, i.e. CN=Domain Users,CN=Users,DC=example,DC=com, and then are still allowed access. How do I add a filter so that I can map everything that isn't "companynamera" to no access?   Hi, folling this discussion and this link, I learnt that by adding document.domain = 'mydomain.com'; to the tinyMCE initializer file and tiny_mce_popup.js i can overcome the cross domain problem. I haven't tested it on a proper production server, but in my dev environment the base domain is localhost:8000 and my static files (also tinyMCE ones) are on localhost:88. Adding document.domain = 'localhost:8000'; or document.domain = 'localhost:88'; doesn't solve the problem as I get the following error: Uncaught Error: SECURITY_ERR: DOM Exception 18 Any help?   One of the questions I was asked was that I have a database table with following columns pid - unique identifier orderid - varchar(20) documentid - int documentpath - varchar(250) currentLocation - varchar(250) newlocation - varchar(250) status - varchar(15) I have to write a c# app to move the files from currentlocation to newlocation and update status column as either 'SUCCESS' or 'FAILURE'. This was my answer Create a List of all the records using linq Create a command object which would be perform moving files using foreach, invoke a delegate to move the files - use endinvoke to capture any exception and update the db accordingly I was told that command pattern and delegate did not fit the bill here - i was aksed to think and implement a more favorable GoF pattern. Not sure what they were looking for - In this day and age, do candidates keep a lot of info on head as one always has google to find any answer and come up with solution.

  I start an external groovy script via cruisecontrol, which basically works. My problem is that if the groovy script fails I only get the "error string found" in my cruise webapp and email; its even not in the log files. The groovy script writes it output to stdout and to a logfile. • request parameter is taking null value in servlets

  Hi, I want to know how can I get the value of the request parameters "j_username" and "j_password"? After successfully login using form based authentication, I want my servlet to get the value of parameters "j_username" and "j_password", but I'm getting null as the value in both parameters. Could anyone please tell me how can I get the actual value of both paramters? • In what areas might the use of F# be more appropriate than C#?

  Over the last few years F# has evolved into one of Microsoft's fully supported languages employing many ideas incubated in OCaml, ML and Haskell. Over the last several years C# has extended it's general purpose features by introducing more and more functional language features: LINQ (list comprehension), Lamdas, Closures, Anonymous Delegates and more... Given C#'s adoption of these functional features and F#'s taxonomy as an impure functional language (it allows YOU to access framework libraries or change shared state when a function is called if you want to) there is a strong similarity between the two languages although each has it's own polar opposite primary emphasis. I'm interested in any successful models employing these two languages in your production polyglot programs and also the areas within production software (web apps, client apps, server apps) you have written in F# in the past year or so that you would previously have written in C#.
