• The xml is not switching when device orientation change

  Hi, I have made two folders, res/layout and res/layout-land The output i got If I start the application in portrait mode, it will always use the xml in layout folder if the application run in portrait mode. And will not use xml in layout-land if i change the device to landscape mode If it start in landscape mode it only use the xml in layout-land The xml is not switching when the orientation change What i expect was It should use the xml in layout folder while it is in portrait mode and use the xml in layout-land while in landscape mode In the Manifest file i have added android:configChanges="orientation" for the activity and <supports-screens android:resizeable="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> Did i missed any thing here? What changes i need to do here? Thank You

• Class-Dump Installation

  So this may sound like a really stupid question and I HAVE looked at the how-to from the parent website, but no matter what I do, I cannot get this program to even start to install... I tried entering: cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/class-dump which returned a "this file/director doesnt exist" error, so i tried to get to it folder by folder. when i got all the way to: cd /opt/local/bin/ i cannot go any further. when i check the contents of the bin directory, the only files i can find are (and i cannot access these apparently either): "daemondo port portf portindex portmirror" i have tried doing this on 2 computers so far to no avail, macports is installed on both like the website said and i am having trouble finding any support for it. please and thank you!!

  I made an autogenerated movie clip using JES (Jython Environment for Students). I can play it without any problem using playMovie(), but I can't figure out how to have it saved physically on disk. Any brilliant idea ? EDIT : Also tried the Linux version with same result for both QuickTime and AVI...

• NoClassDefFoundError when running java tool under Xcode

  Hi all, I'm trying to create a Java Tool by using Xcode. I've already changed my build.xml to have Xcode target java 1.6 and not 1.3 so I can use generics. I'm getting no build errors and using 'javac' and 'java' in the terminal works. Now I want it to work in Xcode as well. I keep getting the following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MyClass where 'MyClass' is the class containing the main method. It probably has something to do with the classpath, which as the build.xml prescribes is "${bin}". There is a bin folder in my project folder, and it contains all the .class files needed to run the program. If anybody could help me, it'd be great!

  I have an iPhone app that searches a folder, collates an an array of all the audio files, and lets them be played back. The problem is that if there is a subfolder within the folder I am searching, it will just skip over it/not go into its contents.   In HTML & JS, how do you make a textfield that has grayed out text telling the user what the field is for that goes away when the user clicks on the field? For example, in firefox the search field in the top right hand side says which search engine it uses when there's nothing entered, then once you click it's an empty textfield, but if you leave it blank and remove focus from the textfield then the grayed out text is back again. Is there a name for this behavior? Also, is it possible to do in pure css without the use of js to do the on focus / on blur events?

  Hi, I'm trying to create a new git repository from existing folder. I've created a .gitignore file in the root of the folder. But if I say 'git add *' 'git commit' 'git push' files that should be ignored still get commited to the remote repository. I'm on Windows. Also I've bought a license for SmartGIT. It also seems to ignore .gitignore. I have to manually select which new files to commit. What am I doing wrong?

  Okay I just started with Django and it's totally different from PHP. I installed Python 2.6 and Django. Both are located in my C drive. C: Django build django docs Python26 I am doing the django site tutorial and when they say to write django-admin.py startproject mysite from my Python command line, I keep getting: Syntax error: invalid syntax >>>django-admin.py startproject mysite FILE "<stdin>", line 1 django-admin.py startproject mysite ^ My django-admin.py is in the django/bin folder. I installed Python via python setup.py. Am I suppose to use my window's CP? When I do that, I get window's can't open a .py file. I thought I was just creating a folder? • Sending files through a webservice

  Hi, I have to send some files through a webservice in C#. The files to be sent can be from different locations i.e. there is one folder having 4 files and another folder having 5 files. Assuming i have a mechanism to select which files to send. What would be the best way to send those files? Should I be sending them one by one and let the client figure out how to put them together, or zip all the files into a single file and send that zip file to the client. If there is any other way to implement this, I would be more than happy to look into that approach too. Thanks

  I sometimes need to search code for patterns in a way that goes beyond the regex capabilities of Visual Studio (e.g. patterns that depend on what was seen previously in the file or on the contents of other files). So I use Perl to analyze the source and output matching lines, along with the file name and line number. Since this is the exact same format as is produced by the search feature of Visual Studio, I wonder if there is a way to duplicate the functionality where I can double-click on a line and it will display that line in context in Visual Studio. Any ideas?

• Deny http access to a directory, allow access from WordPress plugin

  Hey. I need to prevent direct access to http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf through the browser. However the Download Monitor plugin I am using, which allows logged in users to download the file, needs to be able to work. Trying Order Allow,Deny Deny from all Allow from all but the download links do not now work... even though (I think) they are links produced by the script e.g. http://www.site.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=something.pdf Enter that in the address bar and you correctly get a WordPress message, 'You must be logged in to download this file.' However, if someone knows the URL where the file was uploaded http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf they can still access it directly. I don't know how (guesswork?) they would find the direct URL anyway, but the client wants it stopped! Thanks for any help.

• OutputPath ignored on projects being build by TFS 2010

  I have installed TFS2010 Beta 2 with default settings and configured a CI build with a solution containing the indivial projects. My *.cspoj files could have: <OutputPath>bin\debug\</OutputPath> Or alternatively: <OutDir>bin\debug\</OutDir> When the build server is done building and running tests etc. all the assemblies are placed in the root of the build drop off folder. How do I configure the build to keep the outputpath or outdir in my projects and store the assemblies and content in the matching folder structure( builddropfolder\bin\debug\ )? I have found a number of post on this most of them relates to TFS 2008 but I have not found solutions for TFS 2010. Perhaps it is possible to solve this in the new workflow file for the buildserver?

I have about 20 TextViews/ImageViews in my current project that I access like this: ((TextView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Text)).setText(""); //or ((ImageView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Right)).setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); My question is this, am I better off, from a performance standpoint, just assigning these object variables? Further, am I losing some performance to the constant "search" process that goes on as a part of the findViewById(...) method? (i.e. Does findsViewById(...) use some sort of hashtable/hashmap for look-ups or does it implement an iterative search over the view hierarchy?) At present, my program never uses more than 2.5MB of RAM, so will assigning 20 or so more object variables drastically affect this? I don't think so, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

• Does MultiThreading in Java takes much time for task completion?

  I have to search for a string in 10 large size files (in zip format 70 MB) and have to print the lines with the search string to corresponding 10 output files.(i.e. file 1 output should be in output_file1...file2--- output_file2). The same program takes 15 mins for a single file. But if use 10 threads to read 10 files and to write in 10 different files it should complete in 15 mins but its taking 40 mins. How can I solve this. Or multithreading will take this much time only?

I work on OS X - right now I am using ~/Development/ as the root folder, and I have many types of projects. For example, I have my iPhone apps under ~/Development/Xcode I develop in many languages, from PHP, to Ruby, to Python, to Objective-C. So, for example, I might have a couple of open-source apps based on PHP where I am using the Zend framework. Some of these projects are for clients, others are tests/experiments when learning a new language or general experimenting.   It looks like this template tag works like a charm for most people: http://blog.localkinegrinds.com/2007/09/06/digg-style-pagination-in-django/ For some reason I get this error: Caught an exception while rendering: 'is_paginated' I use this template tag in my template like so: {% load digg_paginator %} {% digg_paginator %} Where digg_paginator.py is in my app/templatetags folder and the included template context digg_paginator.html is in my app/templates folder. The queryset that needs pagination is called 'destinations'. If i just specify {% digg_paginator %}, how does it know what variable to paginate?? I feel I am missing something important here or just plain stupid :P Someone please help, or explain to me how this should be done. Thanks

• Redirecting a large number of URLs with htaccess or php header

  I have undergone a major website overhaul and now have 5,000+ incoming links from search engines and external sites, bookmark services etc that lead to dead pages or 404 errors. A lot of the pages have corresponding "permalinks" or known replacement hierarchy/URL structure. I've started to list the main redirects with htaccess or physical files with simply a header location reidrect which is clearly not sustainable! What would be the best method to list all of the old link addresses and their corresponding new addresses with htaccess, php headers, mysql, sitemap file or is it better to have all broken links and wait for search engines etc to re-index my site? Are there any implications for having a large number of redirecting files for this temporary period until links are reset?

  I have an application that runs on a Tomcat 7 server on a Windows machine. In its current stage, I have to frequently update and fix it. Whenever I need to update the application, I do all this: Build a new war file; Go to the Windows server, stop the Tomcat service; download the file, put it under webapps; Remove the old application folder under webapps; Remove the old application folder under work/Catalina/localhost (otherwise it keeps the old version cached). Restart the Tomcat service. I am sure there is a way to do all this automatically. What is it?

• Paginating with SQL ROW_NUMBER

  I want to return search results in paginated format. However I can't seem to successfully get the first 10 results of my query. The problem is the 'RowNum' returned are like 405, 687, 1024 etc. I want them to be renumbered as 1,2,3,4,5 etc., so that when I specify between rows 1 and 20 i get the first 20 search results. Instead, because the numbers are larger, I get no results between 1 and 10. If i change RowNum condition to: AND RowNum < 20000 I get plenty of results Here's the sql: SELECT * FROM ( SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER ( ORDER BY DocumentID ) AS RowNum, * FROM Table ) AS RowConstrainedResult WHERE RowNum >= 1 AND RowNum < 20 AND Title LIKE '%diabetes%' AND Title LIKE '%risk%' Any help appreciated.

  I'm implementing a search service called SearchInsideOut. http://bit.ly/97SFyW This search service simply replaces web page results by full web pages (Yes, I used iframe). The problem I have to deal with is iframe-breaking pages. The promising solution I found is using onbeforeunload to let users decide whether to stay or leave my site. But this also creates another annoying behavior. When users click other links in my site, onbeforeunload will also be triggered. Fortunately, I could solve this case by placing window.onbeforeunload=null in the onclick event of those links of my site. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to detect external events like clicking "refresh/back" buttons. What should I do to solve this difficulty? All suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.
