  • Searching the first few characters of every word within a string in C#

    I am new to Programming languages. I have a requirement where I have to return a record based on a search string. For e.g. I am having the following 3 records and my search string is 'Cal' 1)University of California 2)Pascal Institute 3)California University If I try string.Contains, all 3 are returned. If I try string.starts-with, I get only 3 but my requirement is I need #1 and #3 in the result. Thank you for your help. -Joel

  • WPF Binding to Items within a collection? (or converter with parameters)

    i am using a WPF DataGrid, and in my Details row, i would like to show separate objects within a sub collection of each grid item. Is it possible to have a finer control of Path? for example something like... Path=SubCollection['ItemX'] etc.. also, if i was to use a converter, i don't want to have to create a separate converter for each item.. so would there be a way to supply a parameter to a converter that could than determine which collection item to return??

  • Using an ActiveX object from an Outlook hosted webpage - possible?

    I'm trying to do the following: We have an outlook plugin, written in .NET (and C++). It does various things, and is manually installed on the end users machines (usually via AD deployment or similar) We are changing our search to use a webpage-based search, but from within outlook. That part is ok, however we want to communicate from the webpage to the surrounding outlook application. We can call into outlook by exposing an ActiveX object from our plugin, however we get security warnings, even if it's signed and marked as safe for scripting. Is this even possible? Has anyone done it? Anyone have a better way of doing it? We only need to pass in a small amount of data (a message id), and only from the webpage to outlook [update]: This is the error: automation server can't create object. We can get around it a bit by turning things off in IE, but thats not a good way to do it! Thanks

  • sIFR works, except for one word in my navigation bar

    Hi there, My website uses sIFR and it all seems to work great, except for one word in my navigation bar. The navigation links all work, but the word "Zoeken" (= Search) in front of the search form doesn't get changed to the desired font type. I have checked the header.php of my site, as well as the CSS, but any of the changes that I made, don't seem to work. Could anyone help me out? I am hoping it's just a "piece of cake", but my knowledge of sIFR is close to non-existent. Many thanks! Jasper

But when I use syswrite and sysread i.e. non-buffered I/O, as a result I get good text files, but binary files are corrupted anyway.

    I'm producing HTML from twitter search results. Happily using the Net::Twitter module :-) One of the rules in Twitter is that all-numeric hashtags are not links. This allows to unambiguously tweet things like "ur not my #1 anymore", as in here: http://twitter.com/natarias2007/status/11246320622 The solution I came up with looks like: $tweet =~ s{#([0-9]*[A-Za-z_]+[0-9]*)}{<a href="http://twitter.com/search?q=%23$1">#$1</a>}g; It seems to work (let's hope), but I'm still curious... how would you do it?

    Hi, I have to merge all objects from a sub branch to main branch recursively. I would like to merge manually by check in the code from sub branch to main branch instead of using merge command in clear case. So after the check in into the main branch I would like to draw arrow recursively to all my objects. ic from sub branch to main branch I have used this command cleartool mkhlink -unidir Merge <sub branch path>>@@/main/<<sub branch>> <<main brach path>>@@/main/LATEST But when I dit it, it is drawing the arrow for the directory only not for all contains of the directory. Please suggest how to draw the arrow recursively from sub branch to main branch objects. Thanks in advance

  • C# recursive programming with lists

    I am working on a program where each item can hold an array of items (i'm making a menu, which has a tree-like structure) currently i have the items as a list, instead of an array, but I don't feel like I'm using it to its full potential to simplify code. I chose a list over a standard array because the interface (.add, .remove, etc...) makes a lot of sense. I have code to search through the structure and return the path of the name (i.e. Item.subitem.subsubitem.subsubsubitem). I am trying to get the following output until a certain condition is met. test_1.jpg test_2.jpg .. test_50.jpg The solution (if you could remotely call it that) that I have is fileCount = 0 while (os.path.exists(dstPath)): fileCount += 1 parts = os.path.splitext(dstPath) dstPath = "%s_%d%s" % (parts[0], fileCount, parts[1]) however...this produces the following output. test_1.jpg test_1_2.jpg test_1_2_3.jpg .....etc The Question: How do I get change the number in its current place (without appending numbers to the end)? Ps. I'm using this for a file renaming tool.

    Hi guys, I have two tables (albums,pictures) in a one to many relationship and I want to display each albums details with one picture so I have the following query select albums.name,(select pictures.path from pictures where pictures.albumid=albums.id limit 1) as picture from albums where ... Now I'm struggling creating this on Pylons with sqlalchemy I tried to do the following picture = Session.query(model.Picture) sub_q = picture.filter_by(albumid = model.Album.id).limit(1).subquery() album_q = Session.query(model.Album, sub_q) result = album_q.all() but it creates the following statement displaying the incorrect picture beacuse the table albums is included in the subquery select albums.name,(select pictures.path from pictures,albums where pictures.albumid=albums.id) from albums where ... Am I doing it wrong?, is this even possible in sqlalchemy?.

  • NullPointerException when accessing image files in a .jar file

    Hi, I have pretty much tried everything but still have this same problem. I have the following setup: I have a images.jar containing a folder called 'images' in which there are multiple image files. I add images.jar to the java build path of the project in eclipse, and i've been trying to use the following code to access the individual images in the jar: URL url = this.getClass().getResource("images/a.png"); ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon (url); Unfortunately, the URL object is always NULL. I don't think this has anything to do with where I put images.jar file as it is added to the classpath in eclipse. I have also tried using the path '/images/a.png', but still the same problem. Any suggestion would be extremely welcome! Thanks.

  • SVN access/security concern

    I'm considering using a third party hosting company to house an SVN repository. (I'm looking at Dreamhost but this may apply to other hosts as well.) The hosting company sets up the repository at http://svn.yourdomain.com/path. The problem I have noticed is that anyone could come along and export the files using: svn export http://svn.yourdomain.com/path Obviously I will need to export the files myself, but is there a way to secure this on a shared host so others don't have the ability to export this over http? Or is the real solution to manage your own SVN server? Thanks for your thoughts.

    I have a control in ASP.NET MVC that spits out JavaScript in the page header (in the view page). I derive some values from the current view name (including its case). Let's say we are talking about the path: /Home/Index - my control spits out JavaScript to call a function with the view name - in its exact case - e.g. someFunction('Index'). Now when I try to navigate to my view using '/home/index', the view name is returned as 'index' which is causing issues in my JavaScript as I rely on the casing for it on the JS side. Is there any way to know the exact view name (as it was defined) from the path that got mapped into this view.

    Hi, I am creating a cookie in a jsp script, which is located at: www.myproject.com/login/index.jsp if I restart the browser and navigate there, all works well, I can see the cookie persist. If I navigate to: www.myproject.com I am not seeing the cookie. Do I need to set something in the cookie path or domain to make the cookie visible to the entire [myproject.com] domain (I just want to access the cookie from whatever sub path the user may be on).   • PHP: Return string between two characters

    I am wanting to use "keywords" within a large string. These keywords start and end using *my_keyword* and are user defined. How, within a large string, can I search and find what is between the two * characters and return each instance? The reason it might change it, that parts of the keywords can be user defined, such as *page_date_Y* which might show the year in which the page was created. So, again, I just need to do a search and return what is between those * characters. Is this possible, or is there a better way of doing this if I don't know the "keyword" length or what i might be?

    I have a page that is an search where the results are loaded via ajax. It then lists products on a page and you can click to view each product. I'd like to change this page where after you view a product if you click "back" on your browser it'll load the cache instead of forcing the user to search again. How can I achieve this?   • Javascript === vs == : Does it matter which "equal" operator I use?

    I'm using JSLint to go through some horrific JavaScript at work and it's returning a huge number of suggestions to replace == with === when doing things like comparing 'idSele_UNVEHtype.value.length == 0' inside of an if statement. I'm basically wondering if there is a performance benefit to replacing == with ===. Any performance improvement would probably be welcomed as there are hundreds (if not thousands) of these comparison operators being used throughout the file. I tried searching for relevant information to this question, but trying to search for something like '=== vs ==' doesn't seem to work so well with search engines...

    Can anyone tell me how to execute a .bat file from a PHP script? I have tried - exec("C:[path to file]"); system("C:[path to file]"); nothing is working. Ive checked the PHP manuals and googled around but cant find a good answer. Anyone know where im going wrong?     hi I have a page that has two dropdownlists(one for the locations, and the other for departments), an employee search textbox and a button. On the other page, I have a gridview. Now, what i want to archieve is that when a user types an employee's name in the textbox control, selects a location from the location dropdownlist, and a department from the departments dropdownlist, and click the button(search), the gridview on the other page must show the reqiured information of a SINGLE employee. Only one row must show. I have created a database for the employees. I know how to do this with the autopostback but i have not tried it using a button's click. NB: the gridview should show only one row of a selected employee. I'm using ASP.NET VB Your help will high apprecaited.

"'"; } } I need to work in a bit at the top so that if the directory doesnt exist it defaults to the images sat in the root of the background directory... Any help would be appreciated.
