  • mysql GROUP_CONCAT

    - by user301766
    I want to list all users with their corropsonding user class. Here are simplified versions of my tables CREATE TABLE users ( user_id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, user_class VARCHAR(100), PRIMARY KEY (user_id) ); INSERT INTO users VALUES (1, '1'), (2, '2'), (3, '1,2'); CREATE TABLE classes ( class_id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, class_name VARCHAR(100), PRIMARY KEY (class_id) ); INSERT INTO classes VALUES (1, 'Class 1'), (2, 'Class 2'); And this is the query statement I am trying to use but is only returning the first matching user class and not a concatenated list as hoped. SELECT user_id, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT class_name SEPARATOR ",") AS class_name FROM users, classes WHERE user_class IN (class_id) GROUP BY user_id; Actual Output +---------+------------+ | user_id | class_name | +---------+------------+ | 1 | Class 1 | | 2 | Class 2 | | 3 | Class 1 | +---------+------------+ Wanted Output +---------+---------------------+ | user_id | class_name | +---------+---------------------+ | 1 | Class 1 | | 2 | Class 2 | | 3 | Class 1, Class 2 | +---------+---------------------+ Thanks in advance

  • How to get #entries of last hour in MySQL, correcting for timezone?

    - by Ferdy
I am storing activity entries in a MySQL table. The table has a date_created field of type timestamp and through PHP I insert the activity entries based on GMT: $timestamp = gmdate("Y-m-d H:i:s", time()); This works fine. On my client I am on GMT+2. If it is 16:00 here and I insert an entry, it is stored in MySQL as 14:00. This is as expected I guess. My Now I would like to get the number of activity entries from MySQL within the last hour. I'm using the following query: SELECT COUNT(id) as cnt FROM karmalog WHERE user_id = ' 89' AND event='IMG_UPD' AND date_created > DATE_SUB(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, INTERVAL 1 HOUR) This returns nothing, because CURRENT_TIMESTAMP uses the MySQL timezone settings, which is set to SYSTEM, which is set to GMT+2. I guess what I am looking for is a GMT_CURRENTTIMESTAMP in MySQL, is there such a thing?

  • How do i serlialize the product using php?

    - by Ibrahim Azhar Armar
hi, i am building a real estate application where in it will store the properties and search it. the property will have different categories like (residential, commercial, industrial or agricultural). based upon the category i want to serailize each and every property listing . for example the property with id 1 belongs to resedential will have the serial code rs_SOMERANDOMUNIQUENUMBER. and for commercial it can be cm_SOMERANDOMUNIQUENUMBER and so on. for this my database table looks like this. CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `propSerials` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL auto_increment, `serial` varchar(50) NOT NULL, `property_id` int(10) UNIQUE NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY  (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; what would be the best possible format to store the serial with the prefix according to category? thank you

  • Separating positive values from 'zero' values in an XSLT for-each statement

    - by danielle
I am traversing an XML file (that contains multiple tables) using XSLT. Part of the job of the page is to get the title of each table, and present that title with along with the number of items that table contains (i.e. "Problems (5)"). I am able to get the number of items, but I now need to separate the sections with 0 (zero) items in them, and put them at the bottom of the list of table titles. I'm having trouble with this because the other items with positive numbers need to be left in their original order/not sorted. Here is the code for the list of titles: <ul> <xsl:for-each select="n1:component/n1:structuredBody/n1:component/n1:section/n1:title"> <li style="list-style-type:none;"> <div style = "padding:3px"><a href="#{generate-id(.)}"> <xsl:variable name ="count" select ="count(../n1:entry)"/> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test = "$count != 0"> <xsl:value-of select="."/> (<xsl:value-of select="$count"/>) </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <div id = "zero"><xsl:value-of select="."/> (<xsl:value-of select="$count"/>)</div> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </a> </div> </li> </xsl:for-each> </ul> Right now, the "zero" div just marks each link as gray. Any help regarding how to place the "zero" divs at the bottom of the list would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • mysql: select ... where id = any value. is it possible?

    - by Syom
look at this table please table |id| |name| |order| i must get the rows, where name = something and order = somevalue so i write select `id` from `table` where `name` = 'something' and `order` = 'somevalue' but depend on php logic, sometimes i need to get all rows, where name = somethimg, independently of order value. i don't want to change the query structure, because in practise there are many number of fields, and possible count of queries will became very big. so i want to save the structure of query, and when i need to select just by name, i want to write something like this select `id` from `table` where `name` = 'something' and `order` = any value is it possible? maybe the question is incomprehensible, at least i tried;) sorry for bad english thanks

  • Thinking of an Inner Join as a Cross Join and then satisfying some condition(s)?

    - by Jian Lin
It seems like the safest way to think of an Inner Join is to think of it as a Cross Join and then satisfying some condition(s)? Because the equi-join can be obvious, but the non-equi-join can be a bit confusing. But if we always use the Cross Join, and then filter out the ones satisfying the condition, then we get the resulting table. In other words, we can always analyze it by using the first record on the left table, and then go through every single records on the right, and then repeat that for 2nd record on the left, and for the 3rd, 4th, ... etc. So in our mind, we can analyze it using this way, and it is like O(n^2), although what happens in the DBMS maybe that it is a lot faster (when an index is present). Is there another good way to think of it besides this method?

  • Add blank cell at end of UITable

    - by Michael
I'm trying to add an additional cell for custom content as the last cell in a tableView, without altering the dictionary that creates the other content of the table. I think the place to add it is in cellForRowAtIndexPath rather than adding one to the numberOfRowsInSection, which just crashes if I do. I get a cellCount from the dictionary that creates the data for the table, then in cellForRowAtIndexPath, I have: if (indexPath.row == cellCount) { ... stuff goes here return cell; } of course, this never gets called. If I do if (indexPath.row == cellCount -1) it overwrites the last cell with content. I can get this to work if I add a blank entry into the xml from which I am populating the dictionary, but that's ugly. Example code would be neat!

  • The use of GROUP BY in MySQL

    - by Gustav Bertram
    I'm fishing for a comprehensive and canonical answer for the typical "mysql group by?" question. Here is some sample data: TABLE A +------+------+----------+-----+ | id | foo | bar | baz | +------+------+----------+-----+ | 1 | 1 | hello | 42 | | 2 | 0 | apple | 96 | | 3 | 20 | boot | 11 | | 4 | 31 | unicorn | 99 | | 5 | 19 | pumpkin | 11 | | 6 | 88 | orange | 13 | +------+------+----------+-----+ TABLE B +------+------+ | id | moo | +------+------+ | 1 | 1 | | 2 | 99 | | 3 | 11 | +------+------+ Demonstrate and explain the correct use of the GROUP BY clause in MySQL. Touch upon the following points: The use of MIN, MAX, SUM, AVG The use of HAVING Grouping by date, and ranges of dates Grouping with an ORDER BY Grouping with a JOIN Grouping on multiple columns Bonus points for references to other great answers, the MySQL online manual, and online tutorials on GROUP BY.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - 99% fragmentation on non-clustered, non-unique index

    - by user550441
I have a table with several indexes (defined below). One of the indexes (IX_external_guid_3) has 99% fragmentation regardless of rebuilding/reorganizing the index. Anyone have any idea as to what might cause this, or the best way to fix it? We are using Entity Framework 4.0 to query this, the EF queries on the other indexed fields about 10x faster on average then the external_guid_3 field, however an ADO.Net query is roughly the same speed on both (though 2x slower than the EF Query to indexed fields). Table id(PK, int, not null) guid(uniqueidentifier, null, rowguid) external_guid_1(uniqueidentifier, not null) external_guid_2(uniqueidentifier, null) state(varchar(32), null) value(varchar(max), null) infoset(XML(.), null) -- usually 2-4K created_time(datetime, null) updated_time(datetime, null) external_guid_3(uniqueidentifier, not null) FK_id(FK, int, null) locking_guid(uniqueidentifer, null) locked_time(datetime, null) external_guid_4(uniqueidentifier, null) corrected_time(datetime, null) is_add(bit, not null) score(int, null) row_version(timestamp, null) Indexes PK_table(Clustered) IX_created_time(Non-Unique, Non-Clustered) IX_external_guid_1(Non-Unique, Non-Clustered) IX_guid(Non-Unique, Non-Clustered) IX_external_guid_3(Non-Unique, Non-Clustered) IX_state(Non-Unique, Non-Clustered)

  • Kohana 3 ORM limitations

    - by yoda
Hi, What are the limitations of Kohana 3 ORM regarding table relationships? I'm trying to modify the build-in Auth module in order to accept groups of users in adition, having now the following tables : groups groups_users roles roles_groups users user_tokens By default, this module is set to work without groups, and linking the users and roles using a third table named roles_users, but I need to add groups to it. I'm linking, as you can see by the names, the groups to users and the roles to groups, but I'm failing building the ORM code for it, so that's pretty much the question here, if ORM is limited to 2 relationships or if it can handle 3 in this case. Cheers!

  • Show them the default, and allow them to press escape or Ctrl-Z

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
I have a table cell, and when the user clicks on it, I replace the contents of the table cell with an input tag with the current contents as the default. But I don't like it's behavior because there's a chance that the user can delete the contexts on the input simply by clicking on it a second time. $('.LastName').live('click', function() { var myText = $(this).text(); $(this).empty().append('<input name="LastName" id="LastName" value="' + myText + '" />'); document.myForm.LastName.focus(); }); Q: How do I give the user a default, plus allow them to press the escape key or Ctrl-Z while in the middle of an edit?

  • Custom editor in QAbstractTableModel

    - by Martin Beckett
Does anyone have an example of using a QWidget as an editor in a QAbstractTableModel? I have a column which when edited should create a QCombobox with the list of choices. The docs seem to suggest I need to write a QAbstractItemDelegate and a custom paint function but that seems overkill to simply pop-up a standard QCombobox in Qt::EditRole. Note - the combo box contents are the same for every row and it only needs to be shown when somebody clicks in the cell. I know this should be simple but I can't get it to work. It's easy for a QTableWidget based table - but I need it for a very large data table.

  • How to retrieve MYSQL records as an INSERT statement.

    - by Aglystas
I'm trying come up with the best method of synchronizing particular rows of 2 different database tables. So, for example there's 2 product tables in different databases as such... Origin Database product{ merchant_id, product_id, ... additional fields } Destination Database product{ merchant_id product_id ... additional fields } So, the database schema is the same for both. However I'm looking to select records with a particular merchant_id, remove all records from the destination table that have that merchant_id and replace those records with records from the origin database of the same merchant_id. My first thought was using mysqldump, parsing out the create table statements, and only running the Insert Statements. Seems like a pain though. So I was wondering if there is a better technique to do this. I would think mysql has some method of creating INSERT statements as output from a SELECT statement, so you can define how to insert specific record information into a new db. Any help would be appreciated, thank you much.

  • What is the best way to add categories to posts - Ruby on Rails blog...

    - by bgadoci
I am new to Ruby and Rails so bear with me please. I have created a very simple blog application with both posts and comments. Everything works great. My next question regarding adding categories. I am wondering the best way to do this. As I can't see too far in front of me yet when it comes to Rails I thought I would ask. To be clear, I would like that a single post can have multiple categories and a category can have multiple posts. Is the best way to do this to create a 'categories' table and then use the posts and categories models to do has_many :posts, has_many :categories? Would I also then set the routes.rb such that posts are embedded under categories? Or is there an easier way by simply adding a category column to the existing posts table? (in which case I would imagine having multiple categories would be difficult).

  • update columns when value is numeric in tsql

    - by knittl
i want to normalize date fields from an old badly designed db dump. i now need to update every row, where the datefield only contains the year. update table set date = '01.01.' + date where date like '____' and isnumeric(date) = 1 and date >= 1950 but this will not work, because sql does not do short circuit evaluation of boolean expressions. thus i get an error "error converting nvarchar '01.07.1989' to int" is there a way to work around this? the column also contains strings with a length of 4, which are not numbers (????, 5/96, 70/8, etc.) the table only has 60000 rows

  • Losing DateTimeOffset precision when using C#

    - by Darvis Lombardo
I have a SQL Server table with a CreatedDate field of type DateTimeOffset(2). A sample value which is in the table is 2010-03-01 15:18:58.57 -05:00 As an example, from within C# I retrieve this value like so: var cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT CreatedDate FROM Entities WHERE EntityID = 2", cn); var da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); DataTable dt =new DataTable(); da.Fill(dt); And I look at the value: MessageBox.Show(dt.Rows[0][0].ToString()); The result is 2010-03-01 15:18:58 -05:00, which is missing the .57 that is stored in the database. If I look at dt.Rows[0][0] in the Watch window, I also do not see the .57, so it appears it has been truncated. Can someone shed some light on this? I need to use the date to match up with other records in the database and the .57 is needed. Thanks! Darvis

  • ASP.net MVC3 entities, don't know how to count

    - by Spedax
I have 2 tables, 1 with countries, 1 with states. The states table has a column with Population. I'm using entities and I have created a List of states for the countries public class TblCountries { //Entities for my table country ... public List<tblStates> States { get; set; } } So now I can for example List all the states that belong to a country. Now what I want to do is count the population, so I can show the population that of an entire country. I tried using in my view @foreach (var item in Model.Countries) { @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.States.Count<population>) } But this doesn't work, anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advanced!

  • [Django] How to find out whether a model's column is a foreign key?

    - by codethief
I'm dynamically storing information in the database depending on the request: // table, id and column are provided by the request table_obj = getattr(models, table) record = table_obj.objects.get(pk=id) setattr(record, column, request.POST['value']) The problem is that request.POST['value'] sometimes contains a foreign record's primary key (i.e. an integer) whereas Django expects the column's value to be an object of type ForeignModel: Cannot assign "u'122'": "ModelA.b" must be a "ModelB" instance. Now, is there an elegant way to dynamically check whether b is a column containing foreign keys and what model these keys are linked to? (So that I can load the foreign record by it's primary key and assign it to ModelA?) Or doesn't Django provide information like this to the programmer so I really have to get my hands dirty and use isinstance() on the foreign-key column?

  • Need help with a conditional SELECT statement

    - by Ethan
I've got a stored procedure with a select statement, like this: `SELECT author_ID, author_name, author_bio FROM Authors WHERE author_ID in (SELECT author_ID from Books) ` This limits results to authors who have book records. This is the Books table: Books book_ID INT author_ID INT book_title NVARCHAR featured_book BIT What I want to do is conditionally select the ID of the featured book by each author as part of the select statement above, and if none of the books for a given author are featured, select the ID of the first (top 1) book by the author from the books table. How do I approach this?

  • How can I generate sql inserts from pipe delimited data?

  • hide part of the content of an element

    - by user1843471
Sorry, this may be kind of weird problem: I have an existing HTML code, which I can not directly edit or delete parts of it. The problem is: Inside a div-element in this code, there is some text which I want to hide. There are also another element inside of this div, which I don't want to hide. It looks something like this: <div> ....Text I want to hide.... <table> ... Text I don't want to hide...</table> </div> My question: Is it possible to hide the "....Text I want to hide...." while not hiding the "... Text I don't want to hide..."? (for example using javascript?)

  • Array within Form collecting multiple values with the same name possible?

    - by JM4
Good afternoon, I will first start with the goal I am trying to accomplish and then give a very basic sample of what I need to do. Goal Instead of collecting several variables and naming them with keys individually, I have decided to give in and use an array structure to handle all inputs of the same type and rules. Once I have the variables, I will validate against them and if 'ok' store them in a MySQL table. The table will hold consumer information and will need to store multiple rows of the same type of information. First Pass I will leave out the validation portion of this question because I feel I need to first understand the basics. <form action="?" method="POST" name="Form"> Member 1 First Name:<input type="text" name="MemberFirstName[]" /><br /> Member 1 Last Name: <input type="text" name="MemberLastName[]" /><br /> Member 1 Email: <input type="text" name="MemberEmail[]" /><br /> Member 2 First Name:<input type="text" name="MemberFirstName[]" /><br /> Member 2 Last Name: <input type="text" name="MemberLastName[]" /><br /> Member 2 Email: <input type="text" name="MemberEmail[]" /><br /> Member 3 First Name:<input type="text" name="MemberFirstName[]" /><br /> Member 3 Last Name: <input type="text" name="MemberLastName[]" /><br /> Member 3 Email: <input type="text" name="MemberEmail[]" /><br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Continue" /> </form> I am hoping that each input given for First Name (a required field) will generate a unique key for that particular entry and not overwrite any data entered. Because I am carrying information from page to page (checkout form), I am turning the POST variables into SESSION variables then storing in a mysql database in the end. My hope is to have: <?php $conn = mysql_connect("localhost", "username", "password"); mysql_select_db("DBname",$conn); $sql = "INSERT INTO tablename VALUES ('$_SESSION[Member1FirstName]', '$_SESSION[Member1LastName]', '$_SESSION[Member1Email]', '$_SESSION[Member2FirstName]', '$_SESSION[Member2LastName]', '$_SESSION[Member2Email]', '$_SESSION[Member1FirstName]', '$_SESSION[Member3LastName]', '$_SESSION[Member3Email]')"; $result = mysql_query($sql, $conn) or die(mysql_error()); Header ("Location: completed.php"); ?> Where Member1, Member2, and Member3 values will appear on their own row within the table. I KNOW my code is wrong but I am giving a first shot at the overall business purpose I am trying to achieve and trying to learn how to code the right way. I am very, very new to programming so any 'baby advice' is greatly appreciated.
