Looking for a POP3 Client for .NET that basically just lets me log into a server and grab all the emails out, and maybe send some. I grabbed Indy.Sockets off of CodePlex and got it running but its throwing errors trying to decode the mail headers. Really anything is fine if it works.
Hi,

Hi, I've looked through other questions but i don't think this has been asked before:
I have an email client i'm building in the .NET framework, and would like to automatically create google calendar events (just like in gmail). Is there a way to feed an email message (i.e. a string) and automatically identify if there is a possible event or not in that?
Any ideas?
Thanks, Erika
I'm looking for a server app to be routinely generating certificates for client applications using self-signed root. Is there any streamlined process in .NET to programmatically generate those certificates?
I can, of course, keep spawning makecert or openssl, but I was looking for more programmatic, in-memory method, when you just get X509Certificate on output.
If someone got a code snippet, can you please share?
I have a .Net application running on a 32 bit box. The application is a windows service. It consistently hovers around 600-800 MB range. Is this a problem. If an application crosses 1 GB, is it a memory issue ?
I don't know jack shit about the .msi thing with .NET but can I add a custom window to the process that saves the results of the WPF window or winform to the install folder as a .xml file etc.?

Does anyone know how to send an MMS message with the .net framework? Theres sample code for SMS but not MMS. I have a GPRS modem already installed on my server.
Hi everyone,
I'm wondering what's good out there for AOP / crosscutting in .Net, along the lines of AspectJ. I see Microsoft has a policy injection application block; any other good stuff out there I should take a look at?
Is there an inbuilt .NET date formatting function to return a date in the format:
3rd April 2010
It's the "rd" bit that I cannot recollect whether there is a formatting option.
Cheers, Rob.
I'm trying to get a firebird web application (IIS6 64 bit) to run. However I'm getting bad image format (bit difference incompatability) issues. Has anyone got any advice to get it running.
Details AnyCPU application references the .net firebird driver (through nhibernate) which uses a native 64bit dll. There is a native 32bit dll which I use for local development and it works fine. (I havn't got the 32 version working on the 64 bit server either).

Hello there
I have developed an application in vb.net2008 and database sqlserver. Now i want to ignore the database(it has 1 table as customer(name,password,hour,minute)) as i dont want my client to install sqlserver separately or other overheads.
I am planning to do the whole using file handling in vb.net(manipulating the data in files itself eg change username, password etc). As I am new i dont actually know the proper way and of course need assistance.
Kindly help out.
Regards
Indranil
I'm looking for a tool like SonarJ but for .NET instead of Java.
SonarJ helps you to find deviations
between he architecture and the code
within minutes. It can be integrated
into your IDE to help you avoid the
introduction of new architetural
violations to your code base. You can
also use it to maintain metric based
software quality rules which will keep
complexity under control.
I googled and searched SO without satisfying results.
In .NET what is the best way to find the length of an integer in characters if it was represented as a string?
e.g.
1 = 1 character
10 = 2 characters
99 = 2 characters
100 = 3 characters
1000 = 4 characters
The obvious answer is to convert the int to a string and get its length but I want the best performance possible without the overhead of creating a new string.
We have a .Net application that runs as a shell for certain users. We'd like the application to automatically restart when it crashes.
The application is set as the shell here:
HKEY_USERS*User*\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon\Shell
I've tried adding an "AutoRestartShell" key with a value of "1", like what exists in:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon.
When I kill the application's process for the user (via RDP) the application exits, but never restarts.
Ideas?
I need to read binary PGM image files. Its format:
P5
# comments
nrows ncolumns
max-value
binary values start at this line. (totally nrows*ncolumns bytes/unsigned char)
I know how to do it in C or C++ using FILE handler by reading several lines first and read the binary block. But don't know how to do it in .Net.
I've been asked to write a Windows service in C# to periodically monitor an email inbox and insert the details of any messages received into a database table.
My instinct is to do this via POP3 and sure enough, Googling for ".NET POP3 component" produces countless (ok, 146,000) results.
Has anybody done anything similar before and can you recommend a decent component that won't break the bank (a few hundred dollars maximum)?
Would there be any benefits to using IMAP rather than POP3?
I wondered how certain .NET hosting providers can safely grant full trust to their customers?
Doesn't this open up everybody who is hosting with that company to potential safety issues? Or is there a way to safely restrict each customer, despite giving full trust, to "their" space without giving them the abiliy to bring down the system or spy on other customers?
I have written a crawler in Perl awhile back and it was super simple giving the high-level capability of libwww-perl. It is so straight forward in fact, it can take the raw HTML response of one request, and create the next HTTP request for you from the FORMs on that page (as in it will parse the HTML for you).
Does anyone know any library like this on .NET or Java?
Selenium is out of question because it requires the browser to be open, which we cannot accommodate in our implementation)
Hi,
I am having some problems trying to embed Gecko or Firefox into my VB.net application - specifically when running on Vista or Windows 7. Is this possible to do? Or should I look for a different alternative?
Any links to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
