• asp.net custom templated datalist - throws argument out of range (index) on button press

  I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. this all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. the problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments ... the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding etc. It sets all of the templates ont he datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). the exception gets throw when i hit one of these buttons .. but after the ItemCommand event is being processed. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why i am so stuck. I have 2 pages: /Default.aspx and /Profile/Default.aspx The resource file for the /Default.aspx is in /App_LocalResources/Default.aspx.resx but where do I place the Default.aspx.resx for the /Profile/Default.aspx?   Hello I have a problem with dropdowllist ddl1 that is inside of insertitem of listview. I populate it from table on page load. In Page_load I have: if (!Page.IsPostBack) { ListView1.DataBind(); InsDropDownList3.DataSource = GetAllPlayersName(); InsDropDownList3.DataBind(); } DropDownList ddl1 = (DropDownList)ListView1.InsertItem.FindControl("InsDropDownList1"); if (ddl1 != null) { DataTable t = GetAllPlayersName(); ddl1.DataSource = t; ddl1.DataBind(); } When I select a row in listview or edit it data from dropdownlist in insertitem row disappears - list became empty until I close page and open again. There is another InsDropDownList3 outside of listview and there is no problem with this one. Why one is loosing data and the other one not? As I understand ddl1 should even get data every time page loads.

I thought the simplest way was caching the ViewData object itself and adding the user specific data after it was loaded. Are there any downsides of this approach? • "Cleanly" Deploying an ASP.NET Application with LINQ to SQL Server

  In my development environment, my SQL Server is PHILIP\SQLEXPRESS. In testing, it's ANNIE, and the live environment will have a third name yet to be determined. I would have assumed that updating the following statement in web.config would have been enough: <add name="MyConnectionString"providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionString="Data Source=PHILIP\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=MyDtabase;Integrated Security=True" /> When using SqlConnection, SqlCommand, SqlDataReader and friends, that's all it took. Using LINQ, it doesn't seem to work that nicely. I see the servername repeated in my .dbml file as well as in Settings.settings. After changing it in all of those places, I get it to work. However if I'm doing a few deployments per day during testing, I want to avoid this regimen. My question is: is there a programmatic solution for LINQ to SQL that will allow me to specify the connection string once, preferably in web.config, and get everybody else to refer to it?
