• Gwt-gdata authentication

  Hi guys, I'm writing an application with GWT and I found on the internet that there's a library to use easily gdata features. In particular I need to use the integration with Google Calendar. I followed the official guide on gwt-gdata site to do the authentication ( http://code.google.com/p/gwt-gdata/wiki/GettingStarted ) but unfortunately, I got an error. I don't know what to do and I'm here to ask how to solve this problem and if I can directly use gdata native java library, but I believe this other thing is not possible to be done for client-side gwt code (since the code is going to be converted to javascript). • OS X AFP shares and access

  I am running 10.5.6 Client as a mini server and am having problems with AFP shares. All clients are OS X 10.5.7 I have created three users for 'File Sharing' only on the 'server'. I have created groups and placed these users into specific groups. I have created ACL's to give each group access to certain shares. Two of those users can read and write to any share, one user cannot write to the shares, with different results: when copying a directory, only the directory is created, no files inside are copied, the OS does not give any errors when copying a single file I get three dialogs: "You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named 'xxxx', "The item 'xxxxx' contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?, and, The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient priveleges for some of the items. With the single file, a file gets created on the server, but is empty. My ACL for the group this user belongs to is: 0: group:projectmembers allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit 1: group:informationtechnology inherited allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit 2: group:executive inherited allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit 3: group:everyone inherited deny list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit User 1 & 2 belong to informationtechnology and executive and projectmembers, they can read and write freely on the share. User 3 belongs to projectmembers and cannot read and write freely. I have read that this is a UID issue, however User 1 & 2 do not have matching UID's across clients and server and they work, so I don't think this is the case. Any ideas?

I'm using the python rsa package (http://stuvel.eu/rsa) for imitating the javascript result, i'm a newbie to python world and have no idea to traslate javascript algorithm code to the python code. • List of objects sent over WCF, but null list received?

  Hey there, I have an object containing a list of custom objects which I am returning over a response in WCF, however on the receiving end, the list is null? But it contains 112 objects just prior to stepping out of the service on the server. This wasn't always the case, I have seen it return a list. I've just recently upgraded it to use NET TCP bindings, but I can't confirm when I started losing the data or if it was since the conversion from wsHttpBinding to netTcpBinding as it moved along with about four other services. I have looked on the WCF Service messages and trace file and also the WCF client's messages and trace file, no exceptions reported, and both message logs indicate they are sending the List<T> and for client, receiving the list - very frustrating! It's not a super light array, but not huge either, around 100KB. it has about 12 properties each and as stated 112 items are being sent. I have tried everything I can think of on client and server, note: Client: this.binding = new NetTcpBinding(SecurityMode.None) { MaxReceivedMessageSize = int.MaxValue, ReaderQuotas = { MaxStringContentLength = int.MaxValue, MaxArrayLength = int.MaxValue } }; ... Server app.config (sorry I have no idea if the quota settings have any bearing on net tcp? I know I must have done something obviously stupid.

• Oracle JDBC connection exception in Solaris but not Windows?

  I have some Java code that connects to an Oracle database using DriverManager.getConnection(). It works just fine on my Windows XP machine. However, when running the same code on a Solaris machine, I get the following exception. Both machines can reach the database machine on the network. I have included the Oracle trace logs. • MooseX::Types declaration issue, tight test case :)

It appears the MooseX::Types definition for Pattern is causing problems, but I'm not sure why. Documentation shows the syntax I am using, but it's possible I'm misusing class_type as there isn't much said about it. Intent is to be able to use Pattern for type checking via MooseX::Params::Validate to verify the argument is a 'Program::Plist::Pl::Program' object. I've found that removing the intervening class Program::Plist::Pl from the equation by directly calling Pattern-new from the tmp18.pl wrapper results in no error, even when the Program::Types Pattern type is imported.

• LogMeIn Hamachi for Linux

  So far most of my work using LogMeIn Hamachi has been from either a Mac OS X or Windows system to Windows or a Linux Computer. Recently I purchased a mini computer and have been running Ubuntu Server on it, as my little server. I knew LogMeIn had a Linux client that is command line only, but I often do all my work via command line anyway, so that wasn't an issue. I added my user to the correct local file so that I could run the hamachi daemon without sudo, and was able to connect to LogMeIn's service. I decided to set up my Linux server as a git server as well, and set it up correctly. The thing is, the server is behind my schools firewall and I need to use hamachi to get around that. Since most of the time I was using either Mac or Windows, I never had an issue sshing onto any of my computers since LogMeIn is fully featured for these OSs. From Linux (Arch) though, it seems like the client cannot correctly route to the LogMeIn IPs. I know from Windows I can connect to the Linux computers, both of them. From Linux (Arch) though, I can't connect to my Mac, Windows, or Linux server. It keeps just dropping the connection. I was wondering if there was some configuration that I would need to make for this to work. I understand that it is most likely going to be a static configuration since I assume it has to do with the computer not understanding that 5.*.*.* actually refers to another IP:Port. Has anyone had any experience getting this to work?

• Issues dismissing keyboard conditionally

  I have an app that has a username and password field. I want to validate the input before the the user is allowed to stop editing the field. To do that, I'm using the textFieldShouldEndEditing delegate method. If the input doesn't validate I display a UIAlertView. This approach works as advertised - the user cannot leave the field if the input doesn't validate. To have the done button on the keyboard dismiss the keyboard, I call resignFirstResponder on the textfield. The issue I have is the alert is being called twice. How do I keep the alert from showing twice? edit for clarification What is happening is that the alert appears, then another alert appears. I then have to dismiss both windows to fix the input.   I need to communicate with a RS232 device, I have no specs or information available. I send a 16 byte command and get a 16 byte result back. The last byte looks like some kind of crc or checksum, I have tried using this http://miscel.dk/MiscEl/miscelCRCandChecksum.html with no luck. • Are HDMI to VGA Adapters Really Device-Specific?

  There are a lot of devices on the market right now (especially mobile devices) with a Micro-HDMI or Mini-HDMI port and no VGA or D-Sub output. Most manufacturers of said devices sell a cable that looks something like this: I have yet to find a cable like this that claims to work on a wide array of devices. In general, these cables claim to work with one specific device only. The way these cables work, I think, is that analog VGA signals are sent from the HDMI port on the device. This should work for devices that have special hardware on the motherboard/GPU capable of driving this. Is it the case that these cables have to be custom designed for each device? Or, is it rather that any device which possesses this special "signaling of analog VGA over the HDMI port" can be made to work with a cable that is physically compatible (i.e. the HDMI end plugs into the device and the VGA end accepts a VGA monitor cable)? Note that I am not looking for a product recommendation, just a conceptual clarification on what exactly these devices are doing. Also, a few remarks: The cables like the one depicted here are not digital to analog converters. I know about these: they are expensive, and they are the ONLY solution if your device only outputs a digital signal and is incapable of driving analog VGA over the HDMI port. The cables like the one depicted here are not straight crossover cables from VGA to HDMI, either. The crossover cables are designed to send a digital HDMI signal over the VGA port's wires; that is, the wire protocol is HDMI (digital) but the physical pinout is the same as VGA, even though nothing analog is happening. Once again, this is not the behavior that, I believe, the devices which I'm talking about in this question are doing. The cabling and devices that this question is about transmit the analog VGA data over the HDMI port (the HDMI port is in the device outputting the data, and the VGA side is the monitor/projector).

• Virtual host config issues in osx 10.7 server app

  I have two mac mini lion servers setup to run as production and staging machines. My sysadmin decided on these machines over the previous CentOS we had because it had an "interface" to be able to manage it, rather than just the terminal. To be honest, I prefer the terminal. My problem is, the mac osx 10.7 server.app seems to be having issues with the creation of virtual hosts in the 'Web' section. It seems VERY touchy. For example, I cannot create a http virtual host first. I have to create a https host first with a unique dns name 9e..g vuly6), then create the http host with a different dns name to the first (e.g. www), or it appears to override it the first one, even though one is ssl and one is non-ssl. Further, it seems to override perfectly good configurations at random. For example, the default sites directory is usually /Users/default/Sites/Customsites or something, but sometimes when I load the server.app it changes to /var/empty. Also, if I change or add extra virtual hosts after the first one or two, it starts to mess up and the first two virtual hosts start having issues. Has anyone had any experience with setting up virtual hosts via this app? Am I able to manually create these virtual hosts, without using the app, and without the app overriding my settings when I restart apache?

  What audio cards would you recommend that eliminate hum, and hard-drive & mouse movement signal interference? Hardware components: Motherboard. Asus P5Q SE Audio. Realtek ALC 1200, 8-Channel High-Definition Audio CODEC (on board) Harddrive. WD Caviar 320 GB Mouse. Logitech Marbleman USB Mixer. Mackie d.4 Pro Amplifier. Sonance Sonamp 260 All components are plugged into the same Monster Power HDP 910 powerbar (does not help eliminate noise). I have no other components plugged in. The computer uses a Monster iCable 1000 to go from mini (on board audio) to RCA (mixer). I have moved the cable as far from other cables as possible. A ground loop isolator between the mixer and on board audio eliminates all noise. I would rather not use a ground loop isolator; an internal audio card that is Linux-compatible (Kubuntu) would be ideal. Suggestions?

• With Ubuntu 9.10, my DVD keeps spinning up

  I have Ubuntu 9.10 on my Intel Mac Mini. When there's a DVD in the drive, and even if there's no program open at all (just looking at the desktop), every minute or so the disc spins up with a loud whirring noise, and I can hear it cranking the motor to seek across the disc. How do I find out what's causing this? And how can I make it stop? Thanks! EDIT: I straced nautilus, and saw nothing it's doing directly, even when the disc spins up. It does poll inotify regularly, but I don't know how to trace what it's watching, or if that's even how it receives disc-inserted notifications. It doesn't call inotify_add_watch when I insert a disc or mount it (or eject or umount), but it could be watching all of /dev already or something like that. Of course, a DVD is mounted read-only, so whether it's inotify or something else, it should never need to poll anything on that. And if it is inotify, it's happening in the kernel, and the kernel should really never need to poll a device it's mounted to check for notifications.

• Something very strange with network

  Hello, I have Windows 7 and I have very strange thing with my network. Some time I was connected through wireless router and my IP was 192.168.2.103, router's IP was 192.168.2.1 and some other IP was 192.168.2.100. The last I get from page "active DHCP clients" of web interface of the router and from "wireless clients" I may to see that 192.168.2.100 not (!) belong to my MAC address. Router build by EDimax. So after that I disabled wireless function of the router and restarted it. In this time I had not ping to 192.168.2.1. Also I had not any other connection, not wireless nor cable, but (!) I still had ping to 192.168.2.100 and I not understand what this voodoo is...   Hi, I am encountering an issue with trying to load a google annotated chart (http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/annotatedtimeline.html) within a jquery ui tab using content via ajax method (http://jqueryui.com/demos/tabs/#ajax).   Most IBM (and some Dell) laptops have built-in accelerometers to stop any moving parts during a sudden fall, but I was unable to find a standardised Windows API to access this data. I assume that each manufacturer would provide a driver to interface with the sensor. Which popular laptop brands come standard with accelerometers accessible from an API and which libraries should I use to access the data? Does an API* exist to abstract away the differences between different manufacturers? I am aware of the Windows 7 Sensor API, but I would like support for XP and earlier.
